After locally sourcing fresh ingredients, head to the Rock Forest, park your car in the parking lot, and climb the stairs to carry the ingredients to the hearth space. From Tokyo to Karuizawa, it is 60 minutes by Shinkansen, and 30 minutes by car from Karuizawa Station, so for example, you can work in the morning and take a half afternoon. It is less than 5 minutes walk to many cafes and restaurants and the new Nagano Forest Village. There, you can buy local produce, craft beers & wine, and walk around the beautiful area. We recommend driving to explore more around the highlands and snow tires (or chains) are a must have during winter.
