Holiday rentals with beach access in Northumberland County

Perhaps the most serene place I've ever been! Sits on a small cove which leads out to the Patuxent River. There's a dock over the water with lounge chairs where I just melted all my troubles away. Or just sit on the patio overlooking it all. Perfect host, wonderful place to stay. I plan to return.

Our second time here! An absolutely adorable gem of an Airbnb with the nicest hosts and most beautiful garden and dock on the River! Great restaurant recommendations, super comfortable beds, and lovely living room. Perfect for families visiting the beloved St. Mary’s River.

Great place with fantastic views of the Potomac . Close to many dining options within walking distance. We went for a Memorial Day weekend and had a great time. I highly recommend.

Lovely setting and apartment! Host acknowledged our anniversary stay with a personal note and thoughtful details. We enjoyed using the kayaks. The space was clean and welcoming. The setting is so peaceful... lovely to hear the many birds and the sound of the water lapping against the rocks. The internet connection was slow, but not a detriment to our weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed the Front Porch Coffee House (Kilmarnock) and the Sandpiper Restaurant (White Stone) as well.

Spent two days for art show… easy access….tv service iffy, major buffering ….well decorated for a small efficiency. Enjoyed the view of the marina… setting on porch watching the Ospreys and Bald Eagle.

Robin was a terrific host. She’s easy to deal with. I would rent from her again.

Erin was a great host even texting me a few times to see if I needed anything. Will return again for sure.

We loved our mini vacation at Darrell’s. The home had everything one would need and it’s located in a quiet, private area with plenty to do. And one can’t not mention the friendly neighbors and beautiful surroundings. We would love to come back again. Thank you for hosting us!

My absolute favorite airbnb ever ! This was the 3rd time I've stayed here, and if I could afford it, I'd go monthly. The location is perfect, right on the water, small private beach, lots of privacy and soooo incredibly relaxing. The house is very well laid out, super clean and comfortable. Keri provides more than most hosts, from the kitchen and bathrooms, to beach gear, movies, books, games, and the kayaks ! I love love love this house and location so very much. It feels like "my" home away from home and I'll continue to go back as much as possible. THANK YOU again Keri, for another amazing getaway !

We own the only local live music venue, Easy Wind Farm, and LOVE having our National Touring bands stay at Karen's home! The musicians feel so relaxed in the country setting, and get to enjoy some much needed quiet time. There is plenty of indoor space and the outdoor space is a treasure! Great place to stay with a group! The house is beautiful and has great indoor and outdoor group spaces. Took full advantage of the kayaks and paddleboards - easy access to the water and plenty of calm areas to paddle around. The kitchen was also well appointed. Highly recommend!

Very private, peaceful place. Exceeded expectations of description. Very comfortable. It had a gas grill which made it great for preparing meals. Kitchen was very thoroughly stocked with wth everything needed. Comfortable beds. 4-5 Kayaks were great for the back bay (pond) area. It is quite shallow in spots for kayaking, but enjoyed seeing the bald eagles, blue heron, and ospreys. both water areas are tidal. Beach area was great for fishing and sitting in out. Kilmarnock was a 30 min drive. it was a nice area for eating and shopping. Would love to stay again. Great place if you want to stay put and unwind.

It is a wonderful, private and quiet location. Kayaking, fishing, crabbing, and all. Kristie was super responsive and helpful. I will be definitely returning.

Thank you Jim and Megan for making this beautiful home available for our vacation. I was impressed with the cleanliness and because I'm a fishermen I loved the bait house by the water. It literally had everything you needed to fish or do some crabbing. We really needed nothing other than our cloths to wear and books to read. I did bring my own kayak but I really didn't need to everything was provided. We really appreciate your thoughtfulness in things like the coffee bars in the kitchen and upstairs as well with also providing k-cups, flavoring etc. and extra tp:) This location was what we needed to rest and recharge. Once again, thank you.

The Perfect view was a perfect place with a perfect host. We didn't know what to expect and can say our experience exceeded our expectations. The place feels very clean. The property is well thought out - with the landscaping/garden, the seats/firepit/jacuzzi overlooking the water, and the tranquil garden fountain. We enjoyed sitting on the porch, eating special meals prepared by Brenda and enjoying the company of her pets. Nellie Mae is the ideal sweet, soft, cuddly lap dog. (We normally are big dog people :) Brenda KNOWS hospitality and couldn't have been a better host. She makes the most delicious meals - we had her dinners and breakfasts several times and were never disappointed. Suprisingly, the fold-out King bed was extremely comfortable and the room had cool temperature with A/C and fan to help us sleep soundly every night. Delightful place with delightful host - one of our top Airbnb experiences! We will certainly be back. Thank you Ms. Brenda!!

This place worked wonders for our family vacation. the place is very new and updated with 2 full bathrooms that were clean and spacious for beach time and baths with kids. colonial beach is a hidden gem in a historic little town that seems as though at one point was hustling and bustling but isn't quite as popular as it once was but trying to come back. if your a family looking for a uncrowded beach and some activities to do in the area then this place is great! we actually read about this place being in the heart of historic downtown. only thing we would have loved to see with this place is some outdoor patio spot at the home directly to be able to sit outside together. the location does not really have any night life during the week, not even on 4th of July. we went out at 9 pm and the bar closed at 10 pm which seemed way too early for a Thursday and holiday and being on the beach.

After a little miscommunication on the arrival time, everything was at it should be or better. Great location, clean, responsive well worth it. Great experience and will be back regularly.

We were met at the dock by Tommy (4 brothers restaurant) with the golf cart we rented separately and made the short trip to Travis' Unit. We drove around the small island to check out the two open gift shops, beach, and only open restaurant; Lorraine's. The locals were very friendly and I can see us returning to this Island Getaway... without leaving Virginia.😎😊

Brandon’s home was as beautiful as the pictures. We loved how easy it was to walk to everything in the town. The pool and rooftop patio were an added bonus. We enjoyed cooking in the large kitchen, and the house easily accommodated our group of 8. We will be back!
