Holiday houses in Odemira

Marten’s place was by far our favourite air bnb stay to date! The location was almost too good to be true. The tent is set in the middle of a nature reserve and you really feel like you are the only people for miles. It was beautiful, peaceful and very romantic. Watching the sun set over the dunes on an evening was perfect. Then just a short walk through dunes and you’re on a fantastic beach!! Marten left extra special touches that we really appreciated- a bottle of wine on arrival and some candles to light by the tent as the sun went down. There is a toilet, hot shower and kitchen located towards the main house which were great. We cooked here a couple of nights and found we had all the amenities - pots, pans, plates, burner etc. Marten was a fantastic host. The place was clean comfy and we even got extra blankets incase we got cold (we didn’t!). He was great at offering expert advice on which beaches were best for surfing etc. We will be back!

A artisanal house immersed in nature, surrounded by beautiful mounds where you often see sheep grazing in the pastures. In the immediate surroundings you will find a variety of flora and a thriving ecosystem in which multiple species of beetles, bumblebees, spiders and butterflies are common sight (good indicator of a healthy environment). At sundown - as I am writing in late May with 27°C - you hear the frogs croaking in the nearby puddle which is within the property, and throughout the night, the nightsky is clear of artificial lights, so you can see plenty of stars. There are also, naturally, a lot of bugs in the night, but we didn't have many problems keeping them out of the house, being careful with opening and closing the door. The house kept a perfect temperature during the night, without the need for any heating. Its design is clever and aesthetically very interesting. We had a wonderful time and fully recommend this place.

Quelle magnifique expérience de loger dans cette belle maison au milieu de la campagne sans aucun voisinage ! La piscine perdue dans les collines est incroyable, à 15mins à pied de la maison et finalement très privée car peu de logements étaient occupés pendant notre séjour. Marina est très accueillante et à disposition pour toutes questions. Le nécessaire pour les petits déjeuners est fourni et le pain frais est délivré devant la maison tous les matins. La voiture est obligatoire. La maison et sa terrasse sont orientées vers l’Est, le soleil est très présent le matin mais pas l’après-midi et soir, dommage au mois de Mai et pour les couchers de soleil, mais certainement très agréable en plein été! L’endroit est formidable pour randonner sur la côte, accéder au charmant village d’Odeceixe et autres petites stations balnéaires locales avec de bons petits restaurants. Bref ne pas hésiter à séjourner dans ce superbe endroit !

Parfait emplacement - maison charmante - calme absolu - vu imprenable

Beautiful cabin in the nature, perfect for a disconnect from day to day life. Despite being isolated, you do not sacrifice comfort. The cabin is very well equipped and serviced with all the amenities you’d need. Very peaceful, very relaxing. We hope to be back again.

We stayed 6 nights at Bas’ place and expected to use it as a base to explore the Alentejo region. Instead we found the home and the town to be so lovely, we only went out one day to the seashore (which was amazing even in mid April). Bas has created a space with everything you need, including a beautiful view, and we appreciated the artistic designs of the space and the furniture. The hilly quaint town of Odemira was beginning its April celebrations of justice and liberty and we were lucky enough to catch a concert of many local choral groups singing the Cante Alentejano style. As for delicious Portuguese food, try the cataplana de tamboril at O Tarros (we ate there 3 times) and the bola de berlim at cafe Rita. And of course, the Alentejano wines. What a treat to experience what Bas has discovered. And he made it so easy with great instructions and communication. Highly recommend!

We hebben erg genoten van ons verblijf. Het is een prachtige woonst met oog voor detail. De buitenruimte is zalig om te vertoeven, met allemaal verschillende plekjes om even helemaal tot rust te komen. Het toppunt voor ons was de fantastische keuken, inclusief de buitenkeuken. Alles was aanwezig om uitgebreid te koken. S'avonds kunnen bbq'en in de buitenkeuken was een absoluut hoogtepunt! In de buurt zijn heel veel fijne dingen te doen, verschillende stranden, lekkere restaurants. Het is wel aanbevolen om een auto te hebben om alles vlot te bereiken. We kijken er al naar uit om terug te komen.

We had such a lovely and peaceful stay at this charming villa near Zambujeira do Mar. The house was cozy, beautifully maintained, and had everything we needed — from a well-equipped kitchen to a perfect pool for sunset swims. We spent our days walking along the scenic trails, surfing at the nearby beaches, and just soaking in the tranquil surroundings. It truly felt like a hidden gem. Tair was warm, welcoming, and made us feel right at home. We only wish we could have stayed longer. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing break close to naturem.
