“Fred and I can’t thank Patrick and Tracy enough for everything they did. They helped us in our time of need and because of that were absolutely fantastic hosts! The stay was perfect for us, with lovely touches like handmade soap, a wood burner and fresh milk and eggs from their lovely chickens... we especially loved the farm animals right on our doorstep that we could go and see, and the lovely lakes on site for when we were feeling a little stir crazy. There was also enough room for us to work remotely and a generally very open plan feel, which made us feel very welcome. Thank you guys again so much for letting us stay and looking after us (going out to get us a little shop etc) you really helped us return to some normality which in turn helped us to settle and relax after our failed trip abroad! The Cabin @ Lake Lodge is a newly-built and tastefully decorated log cabin with a contemporary, yet cosy feel. The property overlooks agricultural land that houses our small flock of sheep, currently with lambs at foot. The Cabin has its own garden complete with hot tub, brick BBQ and fire pit. Please note that an additional £10/day is charged for use of the hot tub. You will find a complimentary bottle of Prosecco waiting for you in the fridge; hot drinks and firewood also included.
“We’ve just returned from a long weekend at The Cabin & truly had the most remarkable time. The cabin is well equipped, spacious, light, airy, clean with spectacular views across the field which were full of sheep! The bird feeders positioned outside the windows encouraging birds was also lovely to watch. Looking after the chickens (optional) was fab! But the best bit by far was meeting, fussing and feeding Beryl the Sheep! A true legend! The town of Hatherleigh is a 10-15 min walk where we ate in The George & also The Tally-Ho! Great hospitality & food in both. We also stopped and had breakfast in Made-well, a stunning community project. The hot tub was absolutely fabulous! We’ve stopped in lots of places but this is one of our favourites! Rob & Sophie’s hospitality was second to none! We’ll def be returning...”
Our Shepherds hut is located on a stud farm on the gentler edge of Dartmoor, with unique views of the Wray valley.
“Had some amazing time there, even though it was raining non-stop. It is very quiet, very relaxing. The hut is not big, but all the facilities are great. Even the bed is quite comfortable. We did experienced some bad luck with the shower, but Philip tried his best to help us. So thank you, Philip! I would definitely suggest the guests to be prepared of the mud. Rain boots is essential! 😉”
