Old 'alpendre' (porch) recently transformed for residential use in Santa Lucía de Tirajana. The alpendre was the house of the animals. The most valued and difficult to keep were the cows. There used to be two per property. The cows' part is now the living room, dining room, and kitchen. The goats and the donkey were housed in the other rooms that are now the bedrooms, and the current bathroom was the place where the grass was deposited for the rest of the day, as it was usually picked in the morning.

Originally it was a house and a barn for animals with the typical construction of the time in the Canarian rural areas, with thick stone walls. The house, due to its wide walls and open common spaces, is cool in summer and cozy in winter, although it has air conditioning and a wood-burning fireplace.
