The studio is peaceful in a quiet area with bedroom (4/5 guests), shower room and a kitchen with oven, microwave, washing machine and fridge. The docks with ferries to France and train station are within 5 minutes drive. London is one hour away.
The studio flat is on the second floor of a Victorian house. It is a really delightful place with lots of light and a lovely view.
A safe residential area with beautiful views of Dover Castle.
  • Had an awesome weekend trip with a great and central flat. Easy to find, easy check in, nice apartment. Aileen is a great host :)

  • Aileen's place is great! Good location, very central and close to everything. And she is a great host! The place was in perfect condition and exceeded our expectations. She was also very kind and allowed us to leave our luggage before the check-in time - besides a very nice chat and tips about the city. I definitely recommend staying in her studio and will make sure to check if it's available next time we head to Dover :)

  • We only stayed for a night prior to the ferry journey. Due to storm we came late - no problem, Aileen was still waiting. Uncomplicated. Quiet, nice central place.

  • An ideal stop for one night on our journey over to Switzerland. The flat is close to Dover car ferry. Aileen was great at communicating and we had everything we needed for the night. Many thanks Aileen.

  • We had a lovely stay at Aileens apartment and would definitely recommend her place!

  • Stayed here for several days with my mom. Aileen had about two hours notice we would be coming (which we apologized for profusely) but when we got to our rooms everything was clean and organized. She gave us advice on things to see in the area and restaurants to try and also gave us a map. We had a really great time and would definitely recommend staying here

  • Aileen it's a lovely host! She is very kind and caring. She received me very well, and made me feeling myself at home. She gave me the directions to the White Cliffs which the trail starts around 30 minutes from her place. The communication was excelent, she was always sending messages for me to don't hesitate to contact for any problem. I had to advance my flight to Brazil and Aileen was very understanding and refunded me for the remaining nights host. The room it's clean and cozy. Walkable distances from Dover station and the old town. I highly recommend.

NB We are using the 'lockdown' to complete a full refurb! New photos coming soon! Cosy 1st floor self-contained Hayloft studio - part of a converted stable c1700 - in the beautiful Elham Valley. En suite shower, tea/coffee/kettle/microwave/fridge, private balcony/garden with hot tub, parking. Part of a family home. Self check-in (keybox) from 3pm - ideal for late arrivals
Part of a beautiful farm conversion family home, with sweeping views across rolling farmland and grazing cattle. Enter the Little Hayloft via a wooden staircase to find a fabulously stylish and fresh hideaway; the friendly owners will leave you afternoon tea on arrival. In the open-plan studio room, beneath cosy oak beams, are sympathetic furnishings including a full size sofa-bed, a flat-screen TV, cosy wicker armchairs and a table and chairs for use indoors or out. Bedroom and bathroom are spotless and spoiling with soft feathers and white cotton. There’s Wi-Fi for keeping in touch with the world…. or not. There's a second sitting space on the balcony outside for peaceful chats as the sun sets … and the sunsets are a glory. Outside: a neat fenced garden surrounded by hedging and masses of green space. Soak away your cares this summer in our HOT TUB. Follow a path down the lane through a small gate and you are on the footpath of the Elham Valley Way. Excellent pubs and a tea room are a short walk, or you can hop on a bus to historic Canterbury or venture further afield by high-speed rail link to London or Paris for lunch or dinner. Ideal as a stop-over en route to Europe or a romantic getaway! Warning - has been known to induce marriage proposals!
The Elham Valley with its immediate surrounding countryside is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty over which there is a wealth of walks, rides and cycle routes. Elham Park is the site of very rare orchids which flower in May. The village itself offers a number of facilities including a General Store, Tea Room (but also good for lunch!), two Pubs (the King’s Arms offering a Post Office facility on certain days - yes, really!), Cricket Club (weekend matches in summer) and floodlit Tennis Courts. A little further there is a Dairy at Ottinge open on Wednesday afternoon and Saturday morning for milk, cream, yoghurt and cheese - all produced on site. If you prefer your milk straight from the cow they offer a 24hr Milk Mate coin-operated dispenser of raw milk! Further still towards Folkestone, is the village of Lyminge with Pharmacy, Bakery, Newsagent, Coffee Shop, Library, Grocery and Indian Take-away and Chinese restaurant (also take-way). There is also an Holistic Wellness centre there. Please ask us for local walking maps if that's your interest! Our Top 10 Recommendations for 2020: 1. NEW The Curious Brewery in Ashford for tours, tastings and dining! And now the Hop Fuzz Brewery in West Hythe - we are spoilt for choice! 2. Micro breweries are a firm favourite particularly the hidden gem that is the Wrong Turn at Barfrestone. 3. The Stag in the Marlowe Arcade in Canterbury is new, hip and cool with an amazing array of wall art depicting Kent beaches. 4. Is your bouldering your thing? Try Chimera Climbing in Canterbury. 5. Macknade Food Hall in Faversham is a fabulous wholefoods market with a rustic cafe or try the Good's Shed in Canterbury next to Canterbury West Railway Station serving 'best of the day' meals from ingredients sourced from the market. 6. Check out the listings for The Quarterhouse in Folkestone and you'll be a few steps away from not one, but two, Banksy favourites! Funky artwork is spread all over Folkestone from the Triennial; look out for the brightly coloured houses or the swinging bell! 7. A beautiful walk or cycle ride will take you along the Crab and Winkle way from Canterbury (starting at the Good's Shed - see above) to Whitstable. Quiet paths, country churches and limitless bluebells make this a stunning Spring adventure! 8. If Parkrun is your thing you can start the alphabet in Ashford but Canterbury, Folkestone and Whitstable will also oblige! 9. Occupying the most photographed building in Canterbury after the Cathedral is the Crooked House (Catching Lives charity bookshop) - a delightfully skewed 17th century half-timbered house in Palace Street opposite the famous Kings School. Duck to enter! 10. A trip out to the Lighthouse at Dungeness (you can see it from miles away on a clear day!) incorporates England's only offical desert. It has a spooky feel .... Archived from 2019: 1. Dover, Walmer and Deal Castles are all close by (sometimes it's worth joining English Heritage for best value deals) - this year Walmer (home of the Lord Wardens of the Cinque Ports most famously the Queen Mother and the Duke of Wellington) has re-opened it's Walmer Glen gardens - check their website for details 2. The Independent Pedaler at Bridge is a cyclist-friendly watering hole with a delicious menu and scrummy home-made cakes (especially the Hummingbird cake). 'Host a Roast' is available on Sundays. They also sell the famous locally made 'Rope and Oak' products. 3. Breakfast with a view - try the kitchen at Sene Valley Golf Course, Hythe! Delicious food, reasonably priced with a glorious view of the sea! Call ahead to make sure they are serving! 4. The new Tulip Tearooms in Bridge offer old-fashioned hospitality and irresistible cakes in the midst of a busy florists shop! 5. Cuddle up on a cosy sofa for two with your favourite alcoholic beverage at the Curzon Cinema in Canterbury - feel free to stroll out to the bar for a top-up mid-movie! 6. Cathedral services are free and the music is always amazing! The Archbishop is in residence at Easter and Christmas; an hilarious 'last night of the proms-esque' carol singing fiesta takes place in the city centre on Christmas Eve - come for a programme waving, knee-dipping sing-song! Early pre-theatre dinner menus are available at Cafe des Amis and Dems. Or after a spectacularly spooky ghost tour with Canterbury's resident 'Ghost Hunter' (book online and meet in St Margaret's Street) calm your nerves with a calorific dessert and/or hot chocolate in Creams. 8. Jazz at The George, Stone Street every Thursday at 8.15pm - real ale and good food! 9. Fancy tripping the light fantastic? Swing Jive (for beginners upwards) at the Southcliff Hotel in Folkestone on Monday evenings from 7.00pm or fortnightly ballroom and latin tea dances at The Burstin Hotel, Folkestone - are you dancin'? 10. Feeling energetic? Try a swim and a roast on Sundays at the Hythe Imperial Hotel, Hythe We haven't tried it yet but our guests tell us the Dover Sea Safari is amazing! Other, more sedate, boat trips are available! Archived from 2018: 1. In beautiful weather you can't beat a sea swim at Kingsdown near Deal where the Zetland Arms is right on the beach! If you're not a sea-bather/channel swimmer but the sun's shining and you fancy a dip try the outdoor (heated) pool at Faversham (seasonal). 2. Sondes Tea House at Sellindge - delicious food and vegan options to eat and all sorts of funky bits and bobs to buy! 3. More of the Harbour Arm in Folkestone has been renovated through the winter including the old Folkestone Harbour railway station - it's better than ever! Beautiful on a sunny evening! 4. Current favourite breakfast spot is Cafe Solo in Canterbury (Wincheap, A28) - so good and excellent value. 5. On a sunny day you can't beat brunch on the beach at Griggs of Hythe. Need to burn some calories? Hire a rowing boat on the Hythe Royal Military Canal. 6. Panoramic views of Dover Harbour and Castle from the Hythe Bay fish restaurant in Dover - we love the balcony bar and the fish is fantastic! 7. Fancy a sneaky safari? Take the footpath alongside the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch railway station and eventually you will pass through Port Lympe wild animal park - don't be surprised to spot a giraffe through the trees! 8. Fab fish and chips at Hythe from the Park Road Fish Bar! Maybe on the way home from the safari ... 9. Either an ice-cream (closest is a McFlurry from the bottom of the hill) or an alcoholic beverage and salty snack (from Sainsburys next door to MacDonalds) taken to the top of the cliff at Capel - fabulous views of the channel and amazing star-gazing when it's clear! 10. Take a walk along the iconic White Cliffs Way at Dover - stop to examine the Fan Bay Deep Shelter and then tea at the South Foreland Lighthouse before retracing your steps. On a clear day you can see forever! But don't go too close to the edge ... Archived from 2017: Coming in ahead of first place (it was that good!) our new favourite for 2017 is Reculver; visit the Roman Fort and then slip across to see Elwyn the genial host of the Reculver Cafe (not quite Roman but built in 1902 - open til 3ish at weekends; earlier on week days) and enjoy a taste of bygone days. All day breakfasts, egg and chips, toast and marmite; excellent value and great service - a big mug of tea is £1. If you want to walk it off you are a stone's throw from the Saxon Shore Way. There is a public car park (pay and display) or if you are lucky you can squeeze in to the lane next door. 1. Fish and Chips on the beaches at Hythe, Whitstable or Herne Bay; or our current favourite is The Deep Blue, Wincheap, Canterbury (enormous portions for sharing and great value!) 2. Afternoon tea at Tiny Tim's, Canterbury (the 'Hairy Bikers' loved it!) before or after Evensong in the Cathedral (check website for times - weekends are different). Get there early if you want to try a 'Plump Pilgrim'! Kent teas and coffees from Pluckley - our favourite is the smoky Russian Caravan! 3. Coffee and fresh doughnuts after a windy walk at Whitstable - you know you are near by the lovely smell! If seafood is more your thing - they still cook the famous Whelks at Wests on the harbour side. Whitstable is equally famous for its oysters - kick back and relax at the Oyster Fishery or Wheelers in the High Street. 4. Watch the sun set at Farthing Common 'the top of the world!' - or from your private balcony outside the Little Hayloft. 5. Walk or cycle the Great Stour Way - Chartham to Canterbury; or the Saxon Shore Way - Reculver to Margate if you're feeling energetic - ask us for maps! 6. Walk into Elham village and have supper at one of the pubs or the Abbots Fireside (borrow a torch for the walk home!) The pubs normally stop serving at 8pm - earlier at the weekend. 7. Hire mountain bikes and book a guide at Fowlmead Country Park - a disused open cast mine with great views over Royal St George's golf course at Sandwich. 8. We love a good breakfast! Now available at Macfarlane's Garden Centre (now renamed Folkestone Garden Cente but still as good)! 9. Take a tasting tour at Shepherd Neame brewery in Faversham (Britain's oldest brewer - since 1689) - check the dates for the annual autumn Hop Festival weekend. 10. Sip a glass of Champagne at the end of the Harbour Arm in Folkestone (seasonal) - you might also spot Dave the Dolphin (who's actually a porpoise - and a girl - but the name stuck)! The famous Rock Salt restaurant is also nearby - you do need to book (or try the Smokehouse next door for a more relaxed Fish and Chip supper) 11. If you're brave enough check out the Ossuary at St Leonard's Church, Hythe ... 12. Visit the Elham Valley Vineyard and sample their delicious menus - wait a minute? Number 12? We could go on ... okay we will .... 13. Hire a canoe at The George and Dragon pub at Fordwich (Britain's smallest town) and paddle the Stour to the Grove Ferry Inn. The Grove Ferry is also the starting point for a lovely circular walk through the Stodmarsh Nature Reserve. Boat trips available in summer. 14. Drive a 36-ton train on a private track through the Kent countryside. Start the day with a filling cooked breakfast then learn to drive an ex-military train. Don't forget your camera! We are always looking out for new tea rooms, walks, things to see and do (the research is soooooo hard) but come and see for yourselves; you'll never be bored in East Kent! Short of time? Potter along the old railway line which is now the Elham Valley Way. Do check listings for the Marlowe and Gulbenkian Theatres in Canterbury or the cinema in Faversham is only a fiver! George's Turkish restaurant in Preston Street is great too ...and we're off again!
  • Lorna was a very friendly host offering advice and assistance with whatever we needed. The property is charming and has a wide array of facilities available. Would be happy to stay in this beautiful area and property again in the future.

  • We was looking for somewhere relaxing and quiet for a few nights, The Hayloft was the perfect choice! Lorna’s communication was great, answering all our questions before our trip and sending directions the day before arrival. We managed to find The Hayloft easily just by the postcode. Lorna greeted us on arrival, was very friendly and made us feel at ease and if we needed to ask anything we could. The room was so clean and comfortable, very homely and warm. It was equipped with everything we needed and more. The sofa bed was very comfortable and we slept really well. The pubs are only a 10 minute walk across a field, we ate in 2 of the pubs and both served us very good food, the walk back over the fields after dark wasn’t nice but there are torches available in the room-nice touch and needed. The hot tub was such a treat! We used it around 9pm, under the stars with a glass of wine! Perfect! Lorna & Andrew were lovely, very friendly and have a beautiful place, thank you for having us and will definitely be recommending to everyone we know!

Apple Tree Corner with its 9 acres of land is a luxurious, fully-equipped studio with full kitchen and breathtaking views. Huge bathroom with twin tub looking out on an area of outstanding natural beauty. Enjoy land including orchard and grazing for lambs and horses. Explore the nearby attractions of Canterbury, close to Channel Tunnel. After a day enjoying the local beaches and attractions, relax and cook a meal in the beautiful living space or head to the local great pub 15 mins walk away.
APPLE TREE CORNER IS A GREAT PLACE TO SELF ISOLATE AS WE ARE VERY REMOTE AND WE DO NOT NEED TO MEET YOU AS WE HAVE SELF CHECKING IN. ALSO WE STERILISE EVERYTHING EACH CHANGEOVER SO YOU CAN BE SURE ALL SURFACES ARE SAFE. THE PERFECT SPOT DURING THESE DIFFICULT TIMES SO COME AND STAY FOR LOTS OF WALKS AND ISOLATION!! Apple Tree Corner is a luxurious entirely self-contained studio home, sleeping two people, perfect for couples and also business travellers. Adjoining the studio space there is a large luxurious bathroom with incredible views and a bath deep enough to share, (bubble bath provided!). Within the studio space there is a fully equipped kitchen with induction hob, fridge and dishwasher, very comfortable bed and exclusive use of the extensive gardens. It was recently built and has its own dedicated entrance and private off street parking. A romantic spot for couples but also suitable for business travellers with self check in if required. Space for laptops and WiFi is provided. ****One of our more recent guests (November 18) found it so romantic that he proposed to his girlfriend there and then! We are delighted to say she said YES!**** Apple Tree Corner is on a quiet and secluded lane near the friendly and historic village of Wootton in the stunning Kent countryside. It is in a designated Area of Outstanding Beauty and you can enjoy the peace and the views that this brings. Pheasants, rabbits and badgers roam around and can often be seen. With a comfortable bed and a hotel style bathroom with walk in shower as well as the twin tub this peaceful and well designed spot is perfect for unwinding; a great find. The fully equipped kitchen provides a home away from home; enjoy tea and breakfast in the morning or chilled wine in the evening on the grounds. On a clear night the stars are very bright - there are great dark skies and by opening out the wide bifold doors you can watch the stars from bed! A choice of outdoor areas means a variety of spots where you can relax outside, perhaps in the orchard with its incredible views (help yourself to apples and pears), or in the hammock in the private garden. During the winter the studio is a cosy and welcoming spot; share a deep bubble bath while admiring the views across the valley. As well as sheep and horses in the fields, you'll often find pheasants wandering through the property, often right outside the windows and bifolds. The surrounding fields attract buzzards which you can often see wheeling high above you on thermal currents, and hear their plaintive, long 'peeee-uu' calls. Also in the air you can regularly see Spitfires passing over the house. A continental style breakfast is supplied for the first night of your stay and there is plenty of tea, coffee and cooking essentials in the cupboards. The property is just a 15/20 minute drive to Eurotunnel, Canterbury, Dover, Folkestone and the High Speed Rail to London takes around 45 mins. You will be hosted by Richard and Julia who live on site.
The apartment is near an extensive network of footpaths and bridle ways, several golf courses and riding schools. The cathedral city of Canterbury is a 15-minute drive away, offering sightseeing and a huge variety of shops and restaurants.
  • Lovely quiet place to stay with great touches that you wouldn’t expect. View from bathroom is stunning, the area very quiet with no light pollution. Richard was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend

  • The place was a lovely getaway from London. The living space was cosy and comfortable, the bath amazing and the country fields just lovely to explore, even if a little cold. Would definitely recommend to anyone!

  • Wow! What a wonderful and perfect get away. My husband and I were there with our toddler and there was so much that kept him busy from the little pebbles, hunting for shells, feeding apples to the horses and going to the zoo only 15 minutes away. We were even given a few snacks in the fridge that was not at all expected and so was a wonderful treat! Everything you need is available in the kitchen including a dish washer! The bathroom is to die for, the views from the tub are amazing. This was just a perfect get away and we will definitely be coming back.

    Naveena2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place for a relaxing time. Lots of special touches such as toiletries, breakfast provisions, games and books, wellies etc. Fantastic bath with a view. Highly recommended.

  • A lovely romantic weekend away with my husband to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. The location was perfect for us and we had a lovely muddy walk to the Jackdaw pub which was recommended by Julia and Richard and previous quests. They serve amazing food and good value and a good selection of beer on tap. Apple Tree Corner was just what we needed to spend some quality time together. The little touches of bread, milk and eggs was a pleasant surprise. The bath was amazing and the views were brilliant. Again a nice touch with leaving bubble bath. Would highly recommend to any couples who want to hide away and spend some quality time together together.

  • Great location to get away from it all. Can definitely recommend as excellent value and hosts were very welcoming.

The Hangar is a private self contained space built onto our house, so-called because although it is modern, the houses in the area are built on what used to be a World War Two aerodrome where Spitfires would take off to fly across the English Channel. The Battle of Britain Museum is very close by and well worth a visit. The space has a double bedroom and small lounge area with a spare double sofa bed if needed. The new bathroom has a very relaxing power shower. Private patio area is included.
The living area has a double sofa bed which is suitable for one adult or two children. If you need to add more guests, please just email us. There area two patio/garden areas you can use. One is private to you and the other one is used occasionally by the family. There is a parking space reserved for the Hangar and is off road on our large drive. Breakfast is provided and will be a continental type. Tea and coffee making facilities are included and the room also has a fridge, toaster and microwave oven as well as plates and cutlery, although there is no kitchen as such but ideal for snacks etc.
The Hangar is located in Hawkinge which is a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. There are lots of stunning walks and cycle rides on the door step. The coast with glorious beaches are minutes away in the car. There are several supermarkets nearby including a local Lidl’s only 10 minutes walk away. There are three local pubs within walking distance.

  • This is very nice, clean and stylish flat with the amazing owner. My boyfriend had a birthday and Steve decorated the flat with balloons and happy birthday banner! The flat is small but very comfortable and warm. A very nice breakfast was provided. Highly recommended!

  • We had an absolutely brilliant stay at this air BnB!! It was immaculately clean (and it smelt so nice!), everything felt brand new, the shower was amazing and check in so simple. Booked this stay to take the ferry from Dover the next day and it was perfectly positioned. Lots of places to eat and pick up things you've left behind on your travels. Please do not hesitate to book. You won't be disappointed.

  • Charlotte’s place is fab. It’s really spacious, and I slept so well. It’s in an area right beside the coast so I could walk to Sandgate for training in the mornings, great to have my own cooking facilities too. There are lots of interesting looking little independent shops nearby and there are grocery stores in walking distance. Really great spot.

    Fredereka2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Charlotte's studio is a fantastic place to stay right in the centre of artistic Folkestone. Comfy and great value for money. She was fast to respond to requests and ready to help when necessary. Felt like we were part of the artistic community.

  • Charlotte is a lovely and hospitable host. She was super helpful and always available to answer questions and make food suggestions. A great bookshelf that kept us entertained while it rained, and comfortable beds. The space has all we needed. It's located in the heart of the Creative quarter and a few moments walk from the Harbour. There are lots of food options on the street, with a Lidl a 5 minute walk away. There is a cool vintage shop at the bottom of the road too that is manned by very friendly staff. I highly recommend Charlotte's home. We had a great time.

  • Beverley is a fantastic host and is very accommodating. I booked the room in her house in the morning and she was able to accommodate me on very short notice. She even allowed me to drop my bag off in the morning and keep it there for the day after my checkout so that I didn't have to carry it while exploring the area. Her place is centrally located and easy to reach the middle of town or the beach. I was able to walk to the cliffs and the castle within 30 min. The room is great with a bed and a comfy couch. There is a kettle with tea, coffee and milk and a heater. Beverley even provided yummy croissants for breakfast. The bathroom was nicely appointed and I had a nice warm bath. I would highly recommend staying at Beverley's place if you're looking for a nicely priced, mostly-private spot in Dover. Thanks again!!

  • This is a comfortable basement flat with an entrance of its own. Beverley is a kind and helpful hostess, who allowed me use of her private driveway for parking. The price was very good. I recommend it!

    Paul2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Beverley’s place is lovely! It’s cosy, warm and comfortable, which is everything I wanted as it rained a lot and the weather was miserable. It was conveniently located by the station and a short walk from town, which was great. Beverley is really welcoming and a great host, too!

    Géraldine2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Beverley’s place is perfect for a stop over prior to taking the ferry. Eateries are a short walk into town, as is the seafront. It would also be useful for business people needing a comfortable bed for the night.

A continental style breakfast will be available if required. Guests may enjoy the garden, an ideal place for a night cap on a pleasant evening.
Our village is very peaceful, clean and well kept. We have a working corn mill close by and the river Dour runs past our property. The Royal Oak pub, a mere 3 minute walk, serves a good range of food and speciality beers. The picturesque Kearsney Abbey and Russell Gardens are a short walk away, boasting woodland walks, play areas for children and an excellent cafe.
  • We spent a perfect night with Chris who is an adorable and very responsive woman. We had to take the ferry to Calais at 9:00 pm and the latter left an hour and forty five late which made us arrive very late at home and yet, never a thought, that kindness and courtesy. And as a bonus we have stayed in a small dream house. In short it was a very nice moment and doubled with a beautiful meeting. Our new address when we arrive in England for on.

    Teddy2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was perfect, very clean and cute. Chris and her husband are very friendly and you could laugh a lot. Breakfast was delicious too. We would definitely come again!

    Vivian2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • I booked the afternoon for the evening, Chris was helpful and kind to welcome my brother returning from Scotland to Italy. It is a long journey, made to help us in our move. Knowing it in a cozy place was of great help to us. Even though he arrived a little later than check in, Chris welcomed him and even personally accompanied him to get some food !!! We have no words to thank! The room is comfortable and clean with the bathroom outside the door, the location is great for boarding in Dover ... More than that you can not! Thanks Chris !!

    Genny2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! What amazing value at Chris’ place. Fantastic communication from the start, welcoming host, local tips, great location, lovely breakfast spread and overall incredible value (I would pay double what she charges!) Would highly recommend.

    Ruben2019-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • Chris gave me a friendly welcome, comfortable room, nice clean bathroom next to my bedroom. I would definitely stay here again should I find reason to. We communicated well beforehand and Chris was attentive to me needing space to rest, yet she was available should I have needed anything extra (which I didn't). Scrummy yummy continental breakfast including fresh fruit salad, which I love. Gave clear local information I requested. Totally recommend. Thank you.

    Linda2019-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • Chris was so friendly and helpful. She gave us great recommendations of local places to eat, cheerfully helped us Americans with how to actually pronounce the names of cities, and told us where the best place to park was. Besides this, we loved staying at her home and everyone conversation with her was full of smiles and laughter. The private room and bathroom were clean and had everything we needed. We would stay with Chris again.

A Georgian Terrace overlooking the sea & ferryport! Walking within 5-10mins to train, bus, coach, beach, town, restaurants, cinema, museum, etc. NB: from this summer we will convert the property. Up until then it will be rooms in our home, after it will be private rooms in a shared house. Please contact with questions you may have. The room you book will still be the same (or better)!
We are opposite the ferry port so no early morning journey necessary! We are also overlooking the sea and within ten minutes walking (two driving) to all the local sites and history such as the castle, beach, restaurants and museum! We have cinemas, shops, restaurants, dover castle, White cliffs walk, beach, countryside, farms all within a 5-10 minute walk - it's pretty awesome! And don't forget, France, London, M25 all in about an hours travel! The room you are booking would be a private room - either a double, triple or twin. Whichever is available on the day :-)
  • Stayed one night at Ester’s to visit the white cliffs of Dover. Room was lovely, perfect for what we needed for one night. The train station is within walking distance and the start of the walk to the cliffs is pretty much right outside the door so it’s very convenient. Bathroom could be a little cleaner but overall had a nice stay here and would recommend.

    Rachel2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great location for a walk on the cliffs or a stroll into town. This heritage building is old enough that it really could have been the home of one of Admiral Nelson's younger officers. (Old building but not mouldy or musty in the least :) Esther is very friendly and helpful. I would happily stay here again...and hope I get that chance.

  • Esther is so sweet and accommodating! She really goes out of her way to make it a wonderful experience for you! And you honestly can't beat the location! Like WOW! Just right up the drive and you're on your way to the cliffs. And it's beautiful! If you walk the other way, it doesn't take long to get into the town center! First experience was a success! Also, if you're wanting to travel to France, she is literally right next to the ferry! We will be back for that! Thanks Esther!

    Terra2020-01-19T00:00:00Z

We live in a nice area of Folkestone very close to the sea and all it's amenities. Folkestone is a friendly seaside town with a nice relaxed pace of life. There is plenty of beach space for everyone. Not overcrowded like some other English seaside towns. It is a great town for creative types as it has a Creative Quarter and there are lots of little curiosities around. It also has easy access to Dover with sights like Dover Castle or Ashford with it's shopping outlet. All in all a great little town.

Our large detached house stands in 5 acres of grounds surrounded by open farmland in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the North Kent Downs. Within half hour drive of Eurotunnel, Canterbury, Dover, Folkestone and High Speed Rail to London takes under an hour.
If you like space around you and animals, you'll like it here! We have a very friendly dog who lives with us in the house, two ponies who live in our adjoining paddock, chickens which roam our grounds and provide us with amazing eggs and bees which of course provide us with delicious honey. We also have a very friendly cat who lives at our stables. We have one double room with en-suite bathroom, plus two other single rooms with standard sized 3' single beds (which can be made into two twins) with a shared private bathroom, so we can comfortably accommodate a family. Please note that this listing is for one single room - if you want to book multiple rooms or the double room please see the separate listings: https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/3014436 and 3014311 or let me know your requirements in your enquiry and I'll make you a special offer. Breakfast is included in the price and you can try our lovely free range eggs from our hens, along with cereals, toast, yoghurt, fresh fruit in season/dried fruit, our own honey and homemade jams.
Wootton is a very small village, but with an active, sociable community. There are under 200 people who live here, but we have an ancient church and a beautiful wooden village hall which is used for village events and occasionally for weddings. Our nearest pub is the famous Jackdaw at Denton which is about a mile away down the hill. Our lovely single track lanes are surrounded by open farmland and are often used by cyclists, horseriders and walkers. If all the peace and quiet get too much however, we are within easy reach of the Kent coast as well as the historic city of Canterbury, and the high speed rail link from Folkestone gets you to London in under an hour.
  • I had such a warm and welcoming stay with Jo. Thank you for hosting me.

  • I had a wonderful stay with Jo and Keith. I felt very welcome, enjoyed chatting with them while eating a delicious breakfast including fresh eggs from their chickens. They were very hospitable and kind and I would highly recommend staying in their lovely home.

  • I arrived in the evening after a long drive and was welcomed by Keith and his lovely dog. We had a great talk and a cup of tea. Then I sank into the (really comfortable) bed. On the next morning the sun woke me up and I had a view out of my window over the green meadows. I was served a delicious breakfast by Jo, with homemade eggs and honey. They gave me a lot of helpful tips for my further journey. Unfortunately I had to leave early, otherwise I would have enjoyed their beautiful garden. The area is very calm and perfect for a longer stay. I highly recommend to stay there.

  • Josephine and her husband were really nice. In the morning at 6 am (I had to leave that early) they prepared a delicious breakfast. I would stay there again.

    Johannes2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • I really enjoyed my stay. Josephine and her husband are committed to giving their guests a warm welcome. I felt like I was home away from home. A very tranquil surrounding. Ideal if you wish to unplug and connect to nature. My bedroom had east facing windows perfect to enjoy the sunrise😍.Breakfast was a real treat;) . I recommend this airbnb.

I host a large double room with fantastic views across Dover, it is 0.5 miles from the ferry port and walking distance to the town centre. If you are visiting Dover Castle this is the perfect location, the White Cliffs trail is also easy to access on foot. Parking is free outside & check-in from 12 midday. I have a Tassimo coffee machine and some quality teas to help start the day including decaf tea/coffee. Toast & jam available. There's a lovely pub 5 mins by foot with home cooked & vegan food
My apartment is within Victoria Park, a grand crescent of 26 houses built in the 1850s. Originally occupied by high ranking officers stationed at Dover Castle, the property is Grade II listed and very much a part of Dover's historic landscape.
  • I stayed for a week whilst working in Dover. Chris is a great host, the room and bathroom were sparkling clean and self -help breakfast was a real bonus. Great value, warm, comfortable and clean. Just a few minutes walk to anywhere in town. I’m happy to recommend and look forward to staying again when i’m in the area.

  • Rebecca and Paddy are very pleasant hosts who offer an excellent accommodation. All facilities very clean and well presented. The bedroom is very comfortable and warm. A lovely, comfortable bed in which I enjoyed great sleeps after a couple of cold, wet days at work. Great range of fruit and breakfast stuff too. Parking is easy on the street outside. Excellent facilities for self-catering and a pub not too far away as well ! Your hosts are definitely going the extra mile here, I thoroughly recommend a stay with them. Thank you Rebecca and Paddy. Renata was a lovely host, very welcoming, very quick to respond to pre-stay questions and providing useful information. • Les Fleurs pub is in a really convenient location, a very easy walk from the train station and to the town centre and seafront. The rooms/beds are comfortable and clean, and Jeffrey was very kind when he let me in. I could see Dover Castle from the window which was neat.

  • At 37, I thought I might be too old to stay in a hostel. Jeffrey’s place proved me wrong. It is clean, quiet and friendly. It has the best shower pressure in the UK! I always felt safe, and he suggested some great restaurants for dinner. Chilling in his pub was cool, too. I had lots of fun talking to the locals, and Jeffrey provided some great stories about the area and English Channel swimmers. The beer is great and the prices more than fair.

A peaceful retreat for 2 guests on our small holding. Ideally situated to explore the beautiful Kent countryside by foot, cycle or car. 10 mins from Channel Tunnel, 20 mins from the Port of Dover and Canterbury. 10 mins from Folkestone West Station for the high speed train to London, which takes 55 mins, and 25 mins to Ashford International for the Eurostar to the continent.
The Stable is a light and airy studio recently renovated providing an ensuite shower room and kitchenette which comprises of a fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster, a small George Foreman grill and a combination microwave oven/grill. There is also an electric multi cooker/wok/skillet provided and tea and coffee making facilities. There is a patio with table and two chairs for your sole use together with a small BBQ, coals not provided. Well behaved dogs, maximum of two, are welcome (£10 payable per dog for the duration of your stay, which I will request through Airbnb). Please let me know if you are bringing a dog/s with you. I’m afraid I cannot accommodate cats. I would be grateful if dogs could please be kept off the furniture. Lovely walks on the doorstep with many footpaths in the area. We have two rescued greyhounds and three horses on the property. A tap and hose are available in the stable yard for welly and paw washing. Plenty of off road parking with PIR security lights to light you to your door. We have just installed CCTV to help with security. If you need a taxi to get to local weddings etc please let me know and I can recommend a good local firm. Also give you the correct address for them to pick you up. Many local country pubs serving food, especially The Cat and Custard Pot, which is a 10 min walk up the lane, serving excellent pub food.
Paddlesworth is in an area of outstanding natural beauty on the rural North Downs, reputably the smallest village in Kent with a pub and a 12th century church.
  • Beautiful place with fantastic amenities. Little oasis in a great location, the host was quick to answer questions and help with anything needed.

  • The perfect space, so well thought out. Very stylish with thoughtful touches (so many teas to choose from!). Sparkling clean and so comfortable. Would highly recommend.

    Maria2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • We felt very comfortable in "the stable". Sally took care of us very lovingly and the accommodation was ideal for us and our dog, for whom there was a lot to discover outside. "The stable" is relatively small, but everything is perfectly thought out, so that the room is again very generous. Great big windows directly into the green. Although it is only 10 minutes away from Folkestone, you are in the absolute green idyll and tranquility. If we choose this route to Scotland again we definitely want to book there again.

Peaceful double room with balcony and an en-suite bathroom in my 1920s art-deco styled home. French windows open onto a balcony with a view of the Kent North Downs valley. Double bed, luxury bedding and comfy mattress. Room has a TV, wardrobe space & dressing table. There's an en-suite bathroom. There is also a sauna available to use. An additional double room next to this one that can also be rented out, which has it's own bathroom, link below: www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/30003427
One double bedrooms available for up to 2 guests. My home reflects my long career as an opera producer- with elegant posters, some designed by artist Ralph Steadman. The 'pink room' has an en-suite, and balcony with views. Guests also have access to communal areas including a large dining and living room, fully equipped kitchen and a terraced garden spreading over 4 rising levels with beautiful views of the North Downs, as well as a front patio and courtyard at the back. The garden is lit up at night, a romantic spot to enjoy a glass of bubbly and watch the sunset. Guests can also use the sauna after a long day exploring the Kent downs, an area of outstanding beauty. (Use of the sauna would be an addition £10 fee to cover the heating price). There is also an additional dining space (so guest can have as much space as they choose) and a laundry room including a dryer.
The house is set back from a quiet road and is very peaceful at night. It is a short walk from the rolling valleys of the North Downs and nature reserves. Temple Ewell is a very pretty village; Kent known as ‘the Garden of England' has very picturesque villages and beautiful countryside. A 15 minute stroll from my house, through Temple Ewell village leads you to the historic Kearsney Gardens. There are also several local countryside pubs, either in walking distance or a short drive away. The Lydden Bell (in Lydden village a 10 min drive/bus journey) serves amazing food. Dover, 5 mins drive/bus journey away, has the historic Dover Castle up on the cliff top and good restaurants including Hythe Bay Fish restaurant with panoramic views of the sea. There are also local takeaway restaurants close to my house, including a fish and chip shop and Indian. In Canterbury, also close by, the local Marlowe Theatre shows lots of big shows including musicals, there is Canterbury Cathedral and tons of really good restaurants.
  • Very good bed, beautiful view and nice located house. We definitely recommend this :)!

  • As a timid little Canadian man embittered & broken by 3 years living in London, I was seeking a brief escape to prevent the frayed, anxiety-ridden final thread of my sanity from breaking completely. I came to Dover to look into my mum's side of the family, & find a possible writer's retreat to complete a book I'm commissioned to write about my London experiences. Jeff's place came up in the accommodations list, and the only one I gave serious consideration to. Dover, and Les Fleurs, proved to be the tonic I needed. Even before checking in, I treated myself to a breakfast at the cafe down the road. I mentioned Les Fleurs and was treated like royalty. My stay at Les Fleurs was even better. The stress melted away and I slept better than I'd slept in months. Jeff was a helluva great host, and I can't sing his praises enough. I will definitely be back -if only to start looking into a more permanent stay in Dover. If you only stay at one place this year, stay at Les Fleurs. You won't be disappointed.

    Peter2020-03-04T00:00:00Z

  • As a previous poster say, do not hesitate to stay at this hostel. This is by far one of the nicest hostiles I have stayed in the rooms were clean, the beds were large and comfortable. My daughters and I were hiking through portions of Kent and this was our second to. last stop, it was also one of the best locations that we stayed in. Jeff is a fantastic and entertaining host, makes you feel right at home and at ease. The location is central to downtown area about a 30 minute walk to the Cliffs. You can spend time up in the sleeping area or while the night away in Jeff great pub. the decor in the rooms is stylish, and the pub has so much character and warmth you won't want to leave. Great place, great value, great host!

  • If you're waivering on where to stay, just stop and book this place. Jeff is awesome, the rooms are comfortable, and the bar is outstanding. Make sure you are juiced up though because the bed areas do not all have electrical sockets (though they are available in the common areas). Great stay!

Welcome to our brand new one bedroom apartment set in the heart of the picturesque village of Temple Ewell. Our self-contained, self-catered Annexe is a home from home, in our own privately walled garden. Designed and built by us, it is an ideal retreat for a couple visiting Dover for a one-night stop over, a chilled weekend or an extended stay. It is conveniently located near the cross-channel ferry port, cruise terminal, channel tunnel and Kearsney Station. We can't wait to share it with you!
This bright, airy and brand new loft apartment is in a quiet location with its own private entrance. The apartment has 1 double bedroom with shower, sink and separate toilet. Towels are supplied. It has an open plan lounge/ kitchen diner with a sofa bed and fully equipped modern kitchen. Tea, coffee and milk are supplied. You will have the entire use of the flat, which includes its own private parking area and private compact garden and patio area. The flat is part of an annexe attached to a newly built detached house in the historic village of Temple Ewell. Therefore, it is simply a 5-minute stroll to the beautiful gardens at Kearsney Abbey and Russell Gardens. Our Annexe is close to the port of Dover and the Eurotunnel terminal. Additionally, it is only a 3 min walk from Kearsney railway station and there are direct HS1 trains to London from Dover Priory. If you do not fancy the train, a bus stop at the end of our road will get you Canterbury in 20 minutes.
We live in a picturesque and peaceful village. Our annexe is attached to our home but you will have access to your own private parking and garden, which catches both the morning and evening sun - a lovely place to enjoy your breakfast coffee or tea. There are many lovely walks, parks and great golf courses to explore. Kearsney Abbey and Russell Gardens are just a short walk away. Don’t forget to see the White Cliffs of Dover during your stay and take in their spectacular views. This area of South East Kent has many historical sites to visit, including Dover Castle, the Roman Painted House, Walmer and Deal Castle. The Fox, The Oak and The Cricketers are excellent local pubs- they are all within walking distance.

  • Fantastic apartment, with wonderful greeting from Cerris. The apartment was perfect and spotlessly clean with wonderful little touches they made it a wonderful stay. It was close to both the train station and bus so a great base to travel around Kent. It’s also close to the surrounding countryside so a great place to walk from. Perfect stay and great value.

    Michelle2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Worthwhile visit, Cerise’s place is really clean, tidy and modern. We felt comfortable and that we got our money’s worth. Ceri was also attentive to our needs and a great host.

  • I loved this annexe. It was so comfortable and beautifully styled with so many thoughtful touches. I was working in the area and it was really nice to go back to such a lovely "home from home" and relax in the space. I will definitely be booking again next time I am working in the area.

A charming/characterful railwayman's cottage, circa 1900, close to Folkestone's vibrant fishing harbour and the amazing creative quarter. The railmen lived in these cottages, situated next to the railway. The railway is no longer in use and being turned into a leafy boulevard as an extension to the harbour. The railway serviced the likes of the Orient Express to Folkestone Harbour, whilst the guests stayed the night in the Grand Hotel during the era of the grand tour before catching the ferry.
It has been refurbished over the last years, has a brand new kitchen and bathroom, a lovely secluded outdoor terrace where you can enjoy your meals and newly painted walls in all rooms. There are security gates for children to kitchen area and in one of the bedrooms. Your comfort and satisfaction is important to us and we will be accessible by phone and email to accommodate your needs.
The house is just by Folkestone harbour and is walking distance to the harbour’s cosy cafes, the famous restaurant Rocksalt and also in walking distance to the town center with shops, galleries, restaurants, cinema and all that you need.
  • A family home, very comfortable, very well located, 5 mins walk from the designer district. We highly recommend this accommodation.

  • Wayne's house is a wonderful space, you can tell a lot of thought and love has been put into it. The house is on a quiet street and has all the amenities you need. It's five minutes into town which has lots of nice shops, restaurants and walks. If you need a quiet space to relax the house is perfect for that also! Wayne was absolutely brilliant from booking to arrival. He replied promptly and comprehensively, I really didn't feel like anything was trouble. The little touches of bread and milk were really thoughtful. We very much enjoyed our stay and are looking forward to coming back.

  • This is a cosy, well equipped little house in a quiet and convenient location and good value for money.

    Nick2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • The house is very central in relation to the town centre (10 min walk), the railway station (£5.00 taxi) and the harbour/beach (5-min walk). The amenities were great, lovely bathroom with a great shower, fully equipped kitchen and a really comfortable living and dining area. The area itself is nice and quiet and very suitable for families. Would really recommend this place.

  • We only stayed at Davids place for one night but it was definitely worth the visit! We arrived at 7:30 pm after a very long drive. We were greeted warmly and our 4 month old baby felt extremely comfortable right away. David showed us our room and the bathroom which were both very clean and tidy and perfectly equipped with everything we needed (we brought our own travel cot, but everything else was there). Although our baby did wake up 3 times in the night to be fed and changed, David said he did not feel disturbed in the slightest. The next morning we woke up to a lovely breakfast with freshly brewed coffee and tea. We really appreciated the crossiants and pastries before setting off on our long journey through europe. David is a lovely host, we really enjoyed our stay and we hope to see him again soon. We can definitely recommend his air bnb.

  • This flat is centrally located in Kent, easy driving distances to touring spots. The master bedroom is huge and would work very well for families with a small child sleeping in the same room. We particularly liked the cozy and sauna. Fur skins for comfort, awesome fire place, small fridge, music and quiz game. By far this was favourite part of our trip for our teen girls! Many thanks to Lin and Mark.

Great location, english village but also close to Dover, Canterbury and other main attractions. The Sauna and snug with fire pit is a gorgeous touch. Highly recommend :-)

  • Lin's place is perfect for 2 people. The place is spacious in all the rooms, nicely cleaned and structured. We were able to cook well using all the utilities in the kitchen and the new bathroom looks good and is a pleasure to be in. The service provided by Lin and her husband is incredible. We were welcomed after a long journey and Lin did her best to make us feel at home immediately. We were also very well informed about the things to do close by.

  • We stayed one night at Matt’s before heading off early to the Channel Tunnel. Matt wasn’t around to meet us but there was a key safe which was very easy to use. Our room was incredibly clean and tidy, as was the rest of the house. The bed was comfy and warm. The street is a wide residential area, with plenty of on-street parking. Short drive to town.

The apartment is well located, parking was available. We were allowed to use the kitchen (including dishwasher). In good weather you can relax in the garden. Matt's apartment is located near the beach - so all in all: gladly again. Thumbs up.

Cosy, pet-friendly annex on our secluded free-hold in the beautiful countryside of Kent, located just 10 minutes from the Channel Tunnel and 20 minutes from Dover Ferry Port. Wake up to the sound of Bertie the rooster announcing a new day! Relax in the hammock watching Dudley the donkey or enjoy a brisk country walk along the many public footpaths in our area - perfect for dog walkers. If you fancy a day trip, you can be in London within an hour or Canterbury in 20 minutes.
You'll be staying in our newly established annex, furnished with all you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay including washing machine and drying racks, iron and ironing board and full kitchen facilities including fridge with freezer compartment, halogen hob, oven, dishwasher, toaster, kettle and, of course, tea and coffee making facilities. The sofa folds into a double bed so if you do bring a child, a friend, a parent he/she would be able to sleep in the living room. We don't think the annex is suitable for 4 adults. There is secure private parking on the property. Tepid-water out door dog shower by the main gate. If you do find that there is anything you think would improve the comfort of your stay please let us know and we'll see what we can do.
We love the peace and quiet. Plenty of good walks close by. Deceptively easy access to London as well as the continent so ideal not only for country lovers but also for business travellers looking for a quiet home away from home.
  • We had a lovely stay, the accommodation was very clean & had nice little touches which made it very homely. It slept 3 adults & 1 dog very comfortably. We heard the rooster but it wasn’t loud enough to keep us awake. Overall, a really lovely stay & great hosts - would highly recommend!

  • The perfect spot for a pre-Eurotunnel stopover - but so much more! The area is stunning, there’s space to walk the dog from the front door, and it’s a properly secluded little spot. Lovely place to stay, equipped with everything you could possibly need!

    Susannah2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • The Peacock Mews annex was a perfect place to stay for one night with our two dogs. The large garden is secure and dog proof. The annex was very well equipped. We liked all the helpful reading material such as maps and dog walk information. We had read reviews about the cockerel’s dawn alarm, but it didn’t bother us at all. The owners are lovely and very friendly and helpful. They suggested Dymchurch sandy beach (20/25 minute drive away) for a dog walk and wow it was stunning! The dogs had a fantastic time.

    Wendy2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay for departure or arrival via Eurotunnel. But make sure you do not use the postcode given for the Eurotunnel passenger departure location as it takes you to the personnel/services part. I stayed at Guy's with my dog and the place is spacious and practical, as well as quiet. Good walking from the doorstep, too. Kitchen is very well equipped for those who like to cook.

    Susanna2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed with our dog for just one night prior to taking the shuttle to Calais, and the annexe suited our needs perfectly. It is exactly as described and shown in the photos. Communication with the host was excellent and check in/out seamless. The location was perfect for our needs.

    Pat2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I stayed at Guy’s place for 1 night and absolutely loved it. He was very responsive and check in was a breeze. The space was lovely, comfortable and clean. It was a perfect getaway and close to the Cliffs of Dover as well as Canterbury. Highly recommend.

    Patrick & Ally2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed the night before an early start on the Shuttle and it was perfect - warm convenient and comfortable.

    Keith2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was spot-on!! Plus Guy was on-call with any queries and correspondence. The AirBnB is situated on the grounds with the main house off to the right as you exit it (so the main house overlooks the AirBnB) - this means it isn't totally private if you needed to know this. All information relative to our stay was transparent and appreciated. Guy was very polite and cooperative. We will definitely stay here again with our three small dogs. We were able to let them out, off the lead, due to its fenced enclosure and there's a large garden area for the dogs that is gated until you open it situated directly in front of you (this is also fenced off aka dog-proof). It really did tick all the boxes. Just a quickie note: the flooring is cold so bring slippers!

Our large detached house stands in 5 acres of grounds surrounded by open farmland in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the North Kent Downs. Within half hour drive of Eurotunnel, Canterbury, Dover, Folkestone and High Speed Rail to London.
If you like space around you and animals, you'll like it here! We have a very friendly dog who lives with us in the house, two ponies who live in our adjoining paddock, chickens which roam our grounds and provide us with amazing eggs and bees which of course provide us with delicious honey. We also have a very friendly young cat who lives at our stables. We have one double room with en-suite bathroom, plus two other single rooms with standard sized 3' single beds (which can be made into two twins) with a shared private bathroom, so we can comfortably accommodate a family. Please note that this listing is for one single room - if you want to book multiple rooms or the double please visit separate listings: https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/3014436 and 3951532 or let me know your requirements and I'll make you a special offer.
  • An absolute pleasure. The breakfast was abundant, varied and Josephine and Keith were really friendly. The village is lovely and the village Hall a dream! Congratulations and all the best.

  • The perfect place for tranquility, nature, pure air, organic eggs (fresh laid), organic bread (fresh baked), organic tomatos (self grown), other vegetables and salad, own honey and the best coffee! The most lovely people, dogs, chicken and horses. Chill out in the hammocks or hang out on the sofas in the evenings with Keith and Josephine. Breakfast is served as whished, conversations are easy going, recommendations are perfect, in short: you don't want to stay anywhere else. I met six other guests (3 from Texas, 3 from UK), just as lovable as our hosts. We enjoyed each other and at the same time also to go our own ways. Perfect balance. The only thing you will miss, is: time to stay longer.

There is also access to a private large bathroom across the corridor, and a sauna (which is downstairs). Luxury bedding and a comfy sprung mattress. There is also another large double room I rent out on air bnb if you need an additional bedroom. See link below to listing of other room: www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/29644304
One double bedrooms available for up to 2 guests with views of the North Downs. My home reflects my long career as an opera producer- with elegant posters, some designed by artist Ralph Steadman. The 'blue room' has a private bathroom including a bath and shower.
Dover, 5 mins drive/bus journey away, has the historic Dover Castle up on the cliff top and two very good restaurants, the Marina Hotel and Hythe Bay Fish restaurant with panoramic views of the sea. There are also local takeaway restaurants close to my house, including a fish and chip shop and Indian. In Canterbury, also close by, the local Marlowe Theatre shows lots of big shows including musicals there's Canterbury Cathedral, canal boat rides and several delicious restaurants .
  • Ellen is a great host, there is nothing to complain about. She will do whatever she can to make your stay better and she has great stories about her awesome carreer. Her place is very beautiful and really confortable, pretty views and a wonderful garden. It is in a good location and close to the train station.

  • A home away from home! A house that instantly touches your heart with a homely feeling. Ellen’s magical touch to the house, the interior and the endless world of Opera enrich your stay here. This stay is a testimonial to the fact that AirBNB is definitely a better option than a conventional hotel. Kudos to Ellen for her warm hospitality!!

  • An ideal location to be quiet in an old village adorable. Three bus stops from Dover and from there, StageCoach buses take you all over Kent. Bus tickets for the day, very advantageous. But the most beautiful is waiting for you at Ellen's. Real journey in the world of the Opera. Ellen will offer you all her hospitality in her home, her splendid rooms, her upstairs gardens overlooking the peaceful Kent countryside. Here, everything bears the artistic and meticulous imprint of Ellen's experience. She will transport you behind the big posters of the most romantic operas she always organizes ... An unforgettable stay guaranteed.

  • It was a really great time! Ellen is extremely hospitable, helpful and smart. I stayed at her home for two nights with my boyfriend. She welcomed us warmly and also helped us to find a nice restaurant and gave us a life (because we had no car). You can be sure that she tries her best to make you feel comfortable. We had great conversations as well and there are also a lot of nice additional facilities. All in all this place is really lovely and I highly recommend this place! Btw. you can easily go to Dover or Canterbury by bus.

  • Wonderful experience overall - Ellen was a kind, caring and friendly host, very clean room and facilities, all essentials provided. She was really helpful and made sure each guest has what (s)he needs and has relaxing time whatever (s)he prefers to do. House decorated in a beautiful Art Deco style. Room has an exceptional view of the Kent Down, plus there is a spacious stepped garden with yet another breathtaking sunset view. Village is well connected to Dover, Canterbury etc. and great for hiking even if you don't have a car (like me).

  • We fully recommend this accomodation! It was clean, we had all we needed, the garden is very beautiful and Ellen is always a good company - very caring, she has a lot of interesting things to tell, you feel home very quickly! The surrounding is quite calm, but one can reach the Center of Dover and other nice villages easily.
