Places to stay in Benderloch

Places to stay in Benderloch
A cosy, small, traditional stone cottage on the Isle of Lismore, in one of the most picturesque places of the west coast. It sits right in the bay at the end of the Great Glen and is surrounded by stunning mountain views. Please note: Lismore is an island that can only be reached by either of two ferry services. After your booking we'll send you an extensive welcome pdf with all the information you need about how to get here and how plan your stay.
If you're looking for a place to break away from it all, experience true peacefulness and inhale fresh sea air while green hills and beautiful mountains stretch endlessly before you, the Crofting Cottage on the Isle of Lismore is the place to for you. In our renovated historical stone cottage you get a real sense of what it means to live on an island while still enjoying all the comforts of modern life. Put on your wellies and go for a walk along the seashore, explore the small islands in the bay at low tide and return to a warm turf-roofed cottage and a cosy fire. Go for a cycle to discover the historical sites of the island and stop for some cake and coffee at our local café, get to know the welcoming island community and finish the day with a stew of delicious local lamb and a book from our varied collection, while admiring an unpolluted starry night through the skylights. The Crofting Cottage is a simple, open-plan space accommodation that is lovingly prepared for you, so you can feel right at home. It's got a mezzanine sleeping platform, a modern shower room, and a lovely kitchen corner with a handy cooker and double oven for all cooking enthusiasts. As an original island house it does not boast with space, but with cosiness, and the efficient and undemanding multi-fuel stove quickly heats every corner of it. It's not trying to provide a luxury holiday, but letting you re-connect with the simple pleasures of life, the sound of the seagulls for breakfast, the beauty of pure silence, the passing shadows on the mountains while the clouds are travelling over them, the ever-changing light and colours of a Hebridean landscape. Exchanging hurried subway connections for a leisurely ferry crossing, a mad weekend shopping for a browse through our small local shop, and the fight with software compatibilities for a fight with the wind, which, even if you lose it, somehow is so much more satisfying. It usually takes a day or two to allow yourself a much slower pace of daily life, but beware, once you've adjusted to island time and haven't let the presence of the wi-fi take away from it, you might find you could rather get used to it! The cottage is also perfect for an autumn and winter getaway, being a small space to heat, providing a comfortable reading sofa and lots of warm things for extra cosiness, including a down feather duvet. And though the days are short, the light is really at its most beautiful in the darker days of the year!
Lismore is a stunning island, with lots to see and do if you appreciate a quieter pace of life. We have a Heritage Centre with an island café (around 4 miles away) open 11 - 4 pm every day from April (check out varying winter opening times), and lots of historical buildings and monuments. It's ideal for walking and cycling, and if you would like to see as much as possible in one day and hear a few local stories, why not book an Explore Lismore landrover tour? You'll find everyone on the island very helpful, so if you get lost or have questions, don't hesitate to ask the first person to come your way! Lismore is a busy island and there's always something on, check the noticeboard at the local shop or the community website (www.isleoflismore.com) for upcoming events.
• Thanks so much for having us. I’m still sad to not be there. Felt very much at home! A very comfortable 9 days. Great shower too! Will definitely be back.

• This is a truly lovely cottage. It's ideal for one person or a couple looking for a calm and cosy retreat to enjoy this amazing part of the world. We had very wintery weather so really enjoyed staying in lots! The fire was great and kept us cosy all week. The kitchen is brilliant and had everything we needed for cooking nice dinners. The bed platform is small and slightly tricky, but if you move the bed a little away from the wall you can sleep two people fine, listening to the rain on the roof is very cosy. The bathroom and shower is great, really hot water! There's lots of nice warm welcoming touches like slippers, hot water bottles, blankets etc. Plus a great selection of books and good WiFi. One tip I'd like to give future visitors - the local shops on Lismore and over on Appin (10min ferry from Lismore) are really great and stock everything you might need from all your normal groceries to plant based milks to nice wines, newspapers, etc. We stocked up in Oban before our trip so didn't use the local shops much but it seemed a shame when we realised how well stocked they are - buying from them is a great way to support the local economy while you're on holiday. Thanks Julia!

Spacious and comfy 4 bedroom house in a small village, 2 bathrooms, large garden, perfect for a relaxing family holiday! Interesting local hikes, close to many beauty spots and attractions, a 15 minute drive to the busy town of Oban, a 45 minute drive to Fort William.
Forest Hill is a spacious and comfy home, with a large lounge, 4 bedrooms, two bathrooms, sit-in kitchen a very relaxing conservatory/sun room, and a large garden. There is ample private parking in front of the house. The kitchen is fully equipped, with everything you need to cook. Nice fresh bed linen and towels are provided. There is a travel cot, a high chair and a baby bath if required.
Benderloch is a quiet village situated approximately 7 miles from Oban and a perfect base for visiting the west of Scotland. It's the ideal place for people who love the open-air life, while having the busy town of Oban a 15 minute drive away, with lots of restaurants and pubs for a bit of night life. Tralee beach is a five minute walk away, as is the foot of Ben Lora - the top of Ben Lora takes a bit longer (!), quite a stiff climb, but with several viewpoints with wonderful views over Morven, the Isles of Lismore and Mull and the Lynn of Lorne. The village is 36 miles from Fort William and Ben Nevis, and 26 from Glencoe. The shop in the village opens very early and closes late and sells everything from local farm eggs and milk to beer and wine. There is also a great cafe and book shop, and a petrol station which sells petrol (obviously!) as well as caravan gear, wellie boots and other useful bits and pieces. The local café, which is open from April until end September, serves the best scones in the world!
• Great property in a fantastic location, lovely clean, warm house with a well equipped kitchen and comfy beds,Winnie is an amazing host and knows the local area well so can give you plenty of advice on places to go,took our dogs as Forest Hill is dog friendly! All in all 10 out of 10 from us! Definitely Will Go Back.

• Very clean, comfortable and value for money! Winnie is a very good host.

• Winnies place was great, had nothing but positive feedback from our men. Would highly recommend to others looking to stay in the area.

• The coordinates of the house are 56.4900045, -5.4009829 (copy & paste in google maps) We were for 10 days with 2 adults and 4 children between the ages of 4 and 9 to visit. I can only agree with all the reviewers regarding the cleanliness of the house and the friendliness of our host Winnie, she is incredibly personable, very discreet but always present and I had a good feeling to know her in our area. We slept wonderfully, it is very quiet there and the people in the neighborhood are very friendly. In addition, the house is well equipped: There are games, puzzles and pens and paper for the little ones and you can (of course very rare: -D) use his Netflixaccount on Winnie's TV. We cooked every day, baked and made pizza and there was not one thing missing. We were welcomed with milk, eggs, jam and coffee. There is a 2 minute walk to the "Pink Shop" which has all the necessary 24/7, the next Lidl / Aldi in Oban is 20 minutes away by car. Benderloch also offers a great beach to play and a mountain to hike, all within walking distance. The Western Highlands can be explored from here fantastic. I would go back anytime.

• This home was exceptional and perfect place for our larger group to stay comfortably as our base while we explored West Scotland. The beds were comfortable, kitchen well equipped and Winnie left us many goodies that we thoroughly enjoyed. Book this place now before it’s gone, you won’t regret it!

• Winnie greeted us like friends. Her house is beautiful and spotless. Beds are comfortable. Very user friendly home. The location is fantastic. We ventured about to a couple of nearby restaurants and we were not disappointed. The beach is nearby and a lovely stroll. Also, close to nearby castles

Benderloch, Argyll & Bute, United Kingdom

Balmossie is a spacious, modern and comfortable house situated in a rural location in the village of Benderloch, and backing on to Ben Lora mountain. There are sandy beaches within easy walking distance. The Fort William to Oban cycle path passes through the village, which also has a convenience store and seasonal cafe. This is an ideal base for exploring the West coast of Argyll. Ferries run from Oban, which is 20 minutes' drive, and the mountains of Glencoe are 45 minutes to the North.
The house is set in a large, informal garden with parking for 4 cars on the private gravel parking area. Guests need to climb a flight of stone steps to access the front door. The house is arranged over 2 floors, with the living areas on the top floor to take advantage of the views. The ground floor has a spacious hallway, large lounge with woodburning stove, kitchen diner, utility room and second sitting room. On the same floor there is also one double bedroom and a bathroom. Stairs lead from the hallway down to the lower floor, where there are 2 further double bedrooms, each with an en suite bathroom. Each downstairs bedroom also has a small en suite sitting room, one of which houses a sofa bed and can be used as a 4th bedroom. Each of the 3 bathrooms has a bath with shower over, toilet and bidet. The main lounge has a 55 inch wall-mounted smart TV with freeview, and the small sitting room has a 43 inch TV with DVD/bluray player and a small selection of DVDs are provided. The kitchen has large american-style fridge freezer, range cooker with double oven, microwave and dishwasher. In the utility room there is a washing machine and separate tumble dryer, amd a handy pulley drying rack. The dining table extends to comfortably seat 8 people. A small supply of firewood for the woodburning stove will be provided, sufficient for a couple of fires. Further supplies can be bought from the petrol station on the way to Oban. A baby kit is available, consisting of travel cot, high chair and changing trolley. There is a stair gate fitted to the top of the stairs, and a nursery-type fire guard is also available.
Benderloch is a popular holiday destination, particularly for families, due to the sandy beaches, the cycle path and access to the hills. Between Easter and October there is a lovely cafe in the village which serves good coffee, lunch and afternoon tea, and excellent pizzas from their wood-fired stove (summer only). Between Easter and October there is a really good fish and chip van near the beach. There is also a nice restaurant, the Hawthorn, which serves high tea and dinner. 6 miles up the (mostly level) cycle path is the Creagan Inn, which does good beer and food, 7 days a week in high season. The proximity to Oban is also a big draw, for its shops, cafes and restaurants, 4 supermarkets, swimming pool, cinema, pubs and bars.

• This is one of those places that you'd like to not review....so you can keep it to yourself. All of the standard expectations were exceeded...very clean, very comfortable, nice amenities (plenty of glasses, plates, pots.....the things that we've been unhappy with in other rentals). The surprise was the Falls of Lora, and the locations to just sit and watch the water (the sitting room and the deck). We rented because it was nice to be on the water.....but had no idea how amazing it would be. The water rushing in and out of the loch (with the tides) looks like a very active river, but it flows in both directions! I literally could have sat there all day and watched. We were also lucky enough to see seals each morning. All in all a great stay.

Ron2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
• Well located location to explore the region. Nicely furnished and comfortable house with a nice sitting area and well-equipped kitchen. The house has a great terrace with a view of the bridge and the loch, and a colony of seals on the sandbank across the street. Gabriella is an enthusiastic hostess who likes to share her passion for Scotland with her guests.

Eva2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
• Fantastic place to stay in a quite, idyllic location My only, and I mean the only regret was not spotting one of the resident seals, perhaps next time 😊 Highly recommend this accomodation

• This is a fabulous house right on the water. It was wonderfully comfortable for our family of four. Spotless with all the amenities we needed to cook and relax. Gabriella and George are lovely.

New2019-06-26T00:00:00Z
• Spotless and better than we could have ever imagined. I have no problem recommending this house.

Helen2019-06-13T00:00:00Z
• Fantastic place !

Susan2018-09-09T00:00:00Z
• The place has awesome views of the loch and watching the tides come in and go is so very soothing. The hosts, Gabriella and George are gracious hosts and everything was exactly the same as it was described and more. The kitchen was clean and well stocked. The bottle of wine was the Bonus. Definitely will visit again.

• Great place to stay, always spotless and always warm. Hotel just about next door always welcoming as welcome. Unfortunately we arrived too late to eat but on my previous experience food was always great. Breakfast the next day served in the hotel was fantastic. This was my 4th visit(?) AND I'll be back.

• This is the 2nd time I've stayed here. It's absolutely perfect!

• The stay was amazing, Susan took great care of me and my exhaustion as a young mum, she offered me a very quiet room and I didn't have such a sound and long sleep in many years. The hotel she works in nextdoor offers wonderful meals, and is decorated with beautiful tartan carpets. I wish I could go again!

• Fantastic host and a lovely peaceful location. Perfect!

Joe2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
• The apartment is nicely decorated, with all the necessary. Very clean and quiet in a property. We feel that Ronnie knows what travelers need, such as putting USB jacks next to the bedside table or putting a large binder with lots of useful information on where to eat, what to visit, and so on. The only downside would be the lack of heating in the bathroom ... it was already a little cold in early September. I recommend sleeping at Ronnie's.

Ariane2019-09-05T00:00:00Z
• Ronnie's place was really brilliant as was she! A peaceful, comfy little bolt-hole, super clean with everything you could ever need thought out for you plus a few extra little sprinkles that Ronnie has kindly put in place. A great host of great accommodation in a fantastic location from which to explore this magnificant part of the world. I'm hoping to make this same trip an annual occurrence. Thanks Ronnie!

Ij2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
• The property was tastefully decorated, comfortable and 'clean as a whistle'. There was everything you would need for a lovely stay. A very comfortable bed, a lovely Welcome Pack and nice toiletries. We would highly recommend this property and host, Ronnie.

Stephen2019-06-13T00:00:00Z
• There isn’t anything Ronnie hasn’t thought off and she even provided goodies that allowed us to have breakfast which was over and above the call of duty. We loved everything and she’s done an incredible job fitting, installing and kitting the place out - all her own handy work. Incredible and talented lady and a definite super host. 10/10

Janet2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
• Basic amenities were provided and was able to make a hot drink on my arrival without going shopping. A very clean and well thought out apartment.

Joanne2019-06-03T00:00:00Z
• We had an amazing stay at Ronnie's air BnB. The communication was great and check in was really easy. The space was gorgeous and had everything we needed, plenty of pots and pans in the kitchen for cooking, deck chairs for sitting outside in the sun and s lovely comfy bed. The walk up Ben Lora that Ronnie recommends is well worth a trip and so is the beach 5 minutes walk away. Can't wait to come back!

Kate2019-05-29T00:00:00Z
• Ronnie's cottage is very well equipped, was very clean, and very comfortable. Location is great too, nice and remote (next to a field with sheep) with a lot of privacy even though Ronnie lives next door. We spent a week here and the cottage had everything we needed for our stay. Including a very nice shower and well-working heating (living in a chilly flat in Edinburgh makes you appreciate these things even more...). Area is great too, very good for cycling with a dedicated cycle path on your doorstep and the great Munro's of Glencoe/Glen Nevis aren't too far a drive either. Ronnie was very nice and helpful, would certainly recommend staying here!

Comfortable one bedroom flat with gorgeous views of Loch Etive and the Falls of Lora, Connel Bridge and Beinn Lora, only about 10-15 min by car from Oban center. The self-catering apartment has a private entrance, and is quiet and well-equipped. It is also on bus routes and near paths with lots of easily accessible and beautiful walks. We provide coffee, tea, a few breakfast items and other basics. Not suitable for pets.
The space is a ground level, contained one bedroom flat with separate entrance, but does share a wall with our house, so we request reasonably quiet, respectful guests. We want you to have a pleasant stay with us, and we aim to keep a quiet house between 10p-8a. Also, please note that the sofa bed in the living room is a small double, so best for one adult or two kids, though if you like things cozy, two adults could fit!
The space is literally across the street from Loch Etive. You can take walks along the shore, admire the view of the Falls of Lora and Connel Bridge, and say hello to the sheep grazing nearby. We are also about 2.5 miles from Beinn Lora -- a fabulous hike. There's a bike path there if you have a bike, or it's a 2-3 min drive to get there by car or about 45 min by foot. There's also a restaurant & pub a short walk away, or you can meander over the Connel Bridge into Connel for their amenities.
• Lovely place to stay, very modern with a brilliant amount of space! Really appreciated the little touches.

• What a beautiful little cottage in a stunning location! We stayed here over Christmas and were lucky enough to squeeze in at the local hotel/pub The Lochnell Arms (extremely friendly and within walking distance) for Christmas dinner! We used the cottage as a little hub from which to explore the surrounding areas such as Oban, Inveraray and Fort William (Ben Nevis). It was situated in a great location for jumping onto main roads and it was great knowing we were coming home to a cosy cottage that felt like home after a long day adventuring. Jakki was a fab host, her communication was great and nothing was too much! I would absolutely recommend this charming little place and hopefully will get the opportunity to stay again myself!

Chloe2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
• A cosy but spacious apartment close to loads of fantastic walks and Oban. We had so much more space than we expected (separate bedroom, living room, kitchen-diner & bathroom) & used this place as a base to explore the area, including going over to Mull for the day. Jakki is a wonderful host and has thought of everything you might need during your stay. Thanks again.

• Julie was quick to respond and the booking was no nonesense. The caravan is right by a quiet country road and offers access to Oban while not bing in the busy town. The views were stunning and if u wandered over the hills behind the property, on a clear day, you got amazing sunsets that really iced the cake on the whole scenery. We managed to climb Ben Nevis (A quick and picturesque hours journey from the caravan) went to two islands (Easdale and Kerrera) and saw so many other things :) Oban is pleasant to explore and has pretty good food if u want to dine out but we didn't that often because we wanted to eat while looking out over the incredible views :) Amazing holiday, well worth the drive up.

Lurach is nesting near the shores of Loch Lihnne, just 19 miles north of Oban and 29 miles south of Fort William, which make it a superb base for exploring the west coast of Scotland. This spacious, semi-detached holiday house, adjoining our selfcatering flat. The house has magnificent views across the sea to the Island Sheep Island, Lismore, Shuna and the Morven Hills. Lurach is self-contained with private access, garden and parking. The ground floor consist of a spacious living room with dining area, fully equipped kitchen, and wet room with toilet. The stairs lead to two bedrooms on first floor, one double bedroom with king size bed, one twin bedroom with two single beds, bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

Sleeps 4

2 bedrooms double/twin

Multi-fuel stove

Freeview TV

DVD

Ground source heat pump

Parking

Gas cooker

Microwave

Washing machine

Dishwasher

Fridge/Freezer

WiFi

No smoking

No pets

An ideal touring base to explore the west coast of Scotland, surrounded by stunning scenery, a walkers’ and cyclists’ paradise. Nesting in the pretty village of Port Appin, with magnificent views across Loch Linnhe to Morvern mountains, Sheep Island, isle of Lismore and Shuna, Lurach provides a special tranquil setting. Lurach is built with modern, stylish interiors, is very well equipped and tastefully furnished.
Port Appin is a pretty little fishing village on a peaceful secluded peninsula between Oban and Fort William. Undoubtedly this village is one of Argyll’s most picturesque spots, overlooking Loch Linnhe, with Lismore, Morvern and Mull in the background.
• Lurach House is a beautiful home from home. The photos had looked very promising but frankly didn’t really give you the full idea of just how much trouble and care the owners have gone to to make this a very special property. Finishes are of a very high standard and decoration looks very fresh. Kitchen is very well stocked and again with good quality crockery and glasses, has just about every pot, pan or cooking item you may need. The location is just perfect, clear views over to Ardgour & Morvern with an ever changing view as the weather comes and goes. Plenty of chances to leave the car on the drive and walk either up to Castle Stalker or down into the village and around the stunning coastal path or on the passenger ferry over to Lismore. Take the car out and the world is your oyster, the position is excellent for wider exploration of the beautiful west coast. Communication with Maryam was swift throughout. We shall be back ... if they’ll have us! Thanks again to the host family.

The apartment is brand new this year. It is ideal for a couple but can accommodate a couple with a friend or older child. Everyone welcome! The sea views are stunning and it is in a perfect location for going into Oban, up north, down the coast or inland. Great for walkers, guests interested in history, wildlife - we can see seals and otters from the apartment - and restaurants are within walking distance. There is a decking area and you are also welcome to use our patio which is a sun trap.
Views are tremendous and it is in a perfect location for sight-seeing. Happy to host people from all backgrounds. Not suitable for toddlers. I should add that we are on the main road into Oban but are up above the road so there is little noise and none in the bedroom. Please note that some of the internal pictures are taken with a wide angle lens so the rooms are not quite as big as they appear.
Connel is a village all along the shores of Loch Etive, five miles outside Oban. We overlook the sea and the Falls of Lora. Very peaceful. There is a shop and three restaurants within walking distance. You can find anything you need in Oban.
• We had a great stay. Everything you need is available. The kitchen is well equipped and functional. It is quiet and well located.

Marcel2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
• A lovely apartment with amazing views over the Falls of Lora and Connel bridge. The apartment was tastefully decorated and very comfortable. In warm weather the decking/balcony would be a lovely place to sit and eat or relax - it was as bit chilly for us to do that in October!

Carol2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
• Nice little property in an excellent location. We had a thoroughly great time enjoying the view of the water and wildlife from the front window. Nice touches with homemade lemon cake and bread. Thanks for a nice break in your lovely property!

• This beautiful apartment was truly a home from home and extremely welcoming and spotlessly clean. Thank you to Olga and Tony for the extra welcoming gestures of freshly made bread and cake and milk for a much needed coffee upon our arrival! I would definitely return to this little gold mine!! The view from the lounge was absolutely stunning and we also managed to catch sight of a family of seals too which was much to our delight. Fabulous apartment Olga and Tony and we will return!! Thank you.

• Oh my God what a GEM of a place. The apartment is so so nice. Very cosy, lovely decorated and spotless. Olga adds lots of extra touches - she even left us some milk, homemade bread and some very tasty chocolate cake. The views from the apartment are stunning. The apartment is very well located. We would definitely stay here again. Once again thank you Olga & Tony for your hospitality

The house is an eco design new build with green roof, solar thermal and solar pv aswell as underfloor heating by air source heat pump. This is set on a stunning island surrounded by glorious scenery near to lovely walking and cycling, We grow tea plants, organic vegetables and plant trees. There are sheep, cows and chickens on the croft. We want to make your stay a very happy one so we will do all we can to meet your wishes. We know you will love it here...This room is small but lovely,
You will share the kitchen and dining/living space with other holiday makers but your own room has a private ensuite, your double bed is super comfy with its own private door out onto the deck ,the full length triple glazed door allows you views of Ben Nevis. the floor being entirely covered with porcelain tiling means that its perfect for radiating heat and it is great for people who like to avoid carpet and dust. The room is small because we sacrificed space for a private ensuite. If you are happy with a super comfy double bed and private ensuite wth a view to the mountains you will love this room.
Lismore is quiet, unhurried and unspoilt -it still retains a feeling of yester year and is not overrun with tourists. The walks and landscape are utterly breathtaking. Ruinous castles, brochs and the ancient Church of St Moluag. Limestone flora and fauna making it unusually colourful. Lismore is steeped in History and legend. Casle Coeffin is particularly beautiful. The walk from us to Sailean, where the seat of limestone industry once was is a 'must not miss' experience where there are often Highland Coos wandering around the harbours edge. You can hire cycles from us, come on a guided walk or just relax outside on the deck of the bunkhouse. You can relax in our meadow that overlooks the mighty Loch Linnhe, sit on the ridge and marvel at the sun setting in the west. We are in the middle of renovating our croft house so you will see evidence of building but it won't spoil your view from the bunkhouse.
• What a lovely place! Lismore is a fabulous island, and Claire was a great host, even with our last minute request to stay. The accommodation is lovely, very warm and welcoming, love the solar powered underfloor heating! well stocked with leaflets and the kitchen had lots of little food items that you might not have remembered. Very nice place to stay and all those trees being planted! Marvellous. Hoping to come back in summer to look at all the butterflies too:-)

• A lovely stay on Clare and Mike's croft. Great walks and scenery, and the room was super cosy and clean, I enjoyed reading my way through their selection of books and ate some delicious eggs and veg from the garden. Clare and Mike were great hosts, very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend to anyone else needing an island getaway!

Hana2019-11-27T00:00:00Z
• I had the use of the en-suite facilities in the Bunkhouse, which was well appointed, clean and comfortable. The place was very relaxing. I can definitely recommend staying here.

Christine2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
• My husband and I spent 4 days with Clare, and we really loved it. The guesthouse is extremely well built and comfortable, with triple-glazed windows to keep you warm even when it's cool and raining outside. There is a very large kitchen that you will share with other guests; we never had any crowding issues, even with several other people staying there at the same time. The island of Lismore is lovely, with a lot of wild places to explore. Clare has bicycles or "Wellies" to help you explore. As a bonus, they have two beautiful highland cattle that you can get a close look at. We'd love to stay here again, highly recommended!

Myoungsook2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
• Had such a lovely time at the bunkhouse. What a nice luxious space on the beautifull Isle of Lismore! Clare is a very friendly energetic host with a good sense of humour. Thank you Clare, Mike and the other ‘guests’ for the nice talks, the fun and thee and Jura!

Marten2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
• The Lismore Bunkhouse is the ideal base to explore this beautiful island. Clare provided directions from the ferry and I was met with a warm and friendly welcome. The bunkhouse itself was spotlessly clean and equipped with everything I needed, a home away from home! The stunning views and peace and quiet left me feeling so relaxed and refreshed, even after only 3 nights. The visitor centre, cafe and shop are all within walking distance, and the bunkhouse has plenty of books and games (and Wi-Fi) in case of a rainy day. Clare was always nearby in case of any questions, and the Lismore locals were all very friendly and helpful. Overall, a wonderful stay which I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone.

Heather2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
• Be sure to stay as long as you can here as you will always wish it was longer. A great place to stay on a magical island. Clare is a brilliant host and we loved our time here.

Marian’s house is a 10 minute walk from a beautiful beach. It is simple but very comfortable and cosy. Marian couldn’t have been more friendly and accommodating! The house was well stocked with all essential goods for use in the kitchen and bathroom. The beds are comfortable and there were plenty of towels etc. We felt very at home during our week spent there. The gift of a box of shortbread was much appreciated along with other essential food in the fridge. Tea, coffee, milk, sugar eggs. Many thanks Marian, you were most obliging and we so enjoyed meeting you. Carol, Stan, Dave and Penny.

• A truly idyllic gem of a place. Generously proportioned, spotlessly clean, and oh! the glorious outlook across the water. We snuggled up every night next to the stove, and had coffee at first light with the seals bobbing in front of the deck. Furthermore - the BED !!! Super king sized and incredibly comfortable. An amazing experience. We will be back ❤️

Christine2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
• What a stunning place! Couldn't fault anything about our stay. The house itself is absolutely beautiful, immaculate and with large airy light rooms- all with a fantastic view of the iconic bridge and constantly changing tidal rapids which brings with it seals, cormorants, herons and plethora of other wildlife. Could easily sit and watch the water all day. Gabriella and Gordon were such lovely hosts, as it was Christmas they had decorated the house and there was a beautiful Christmas tree inside and outside on the deck! They even left us chocolates and a bottle of champagne. These special touches made our Christmas stay so special. Thank you!

• We can only recommend the room. The bathroom is very nice and modern. The breakfast was very good, with a large selection for Scottish standards. It takes about 45 minutes to Glen coe and 20 minutes to Oban. Thus, it is the ideal starting point for day trips in the area.

• A very nice place to stay in and the breakfast at the hotel near by was perfect. Thanks.

• Nice place - good stop off on our way to Mull and the breakfast was a bonus!

Ruth2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
• The host is helpful :) The room is really comfortable and it's a good place if you want to be a bit away from the main city and enjoy the water-side view :)

• Elspeth's home was an idyllic bnb with everything you could need and more! You literally feel like you are in a fairytale cottage and will never want to leave. Not only does she have a deep tub with bath salts and candles, but every room has special touches to make your stay so enjoyable. Her puppy is the cutest and came by in the morning to make sure our breakfast was going okay. The bed was comfy and all the small touches, such as a caraf of water and snacks made as feel right at home. The extra room/kitchenette was one of the most well designed rooms I've ever been in. Our breakfast table overlooked the pond outside and with the window open you can here ducks, geese and birds chirping while sipping on your freshly made cappacinno. We didn't want to leave. You have to stay here!

• Very nice home. Very nice suite on the first floor.

• Elspeths place is spotless, modern and spacious. Breakfast was more than we expected. Highly recommend this space!

Laurie2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
• Definitely one of the best houses I stayed in. Elspeth provides the entire upper floor (room, bathroom and living room / breakfast room) in which it seems to be in a furniture magazine. Every single detail is studied and cared for, and the general quality is at the level of luxury hotels. Elspeth is very kind and cooperative. Perfect breakfast. Idyllic location, overlooking a small pond in the middle of nature, 10 minutes from the center of Oban. To conclude, the presence of Bobby, the small is very nice family dog makes everything perfect!

• Good location not far from Oban. Great private space. Elspeth super host.

• Elspeth and her husband are great, friendly and helpful hosts. Their house is perfectly clean and very thoughtful decorated. She provides a great continental breakfast. The location is good to explore the west coast and and it is less than 20 min to oban. Their dog is patient and friendly as well and is not allowed upstairs, where guests stay. I can really recommend a stay, especially for more then one night.

• Bobby is the best at wake up calls. Good location in the suburbs of Oban. Check out Poppies cafe and garden supply as well as anywhere along the shore

• What can I say, I loved being at Elspeths apartment, I didnt want to leave!!! Comfortable bed and a great shower. It was lovely to sit in the lounge area looking out onto the lake eating breakfast. All in all the apartment was 6 star and would definately stay there again. Thanks Elspeth.

Situated on the beautiful Island of Lismore, in a superbly peaceful and breath-taking location, our gorgeous green-roofed bunkhouse is light, warm with underfloor heating powered by solar thermal and PV. We have a spacious 3 bunkbed dorm and 2 other private rooms with comfortable beds; all rooms have ensuite, one is a family room with a bunk and a double bed, the other private room has a double bed. Please see other listings under our profile. Fully fitted kitchen, dining and sofas to relax.
Our purpose-built bunkhouse was designed with warmth and comfort and light in mind , it has underfloor heating with triple-glazed full-length windows, doors onto the front and rear decking that goes around the outside of the bunkhouse so the space is bright as well as warm and cosy. You can eat breakfast on the deck and view Ben Nevis as you sip your morning tea! We have three bedrooms all with a private en suite toilet & shower (two of which are accessible for wheelchair use) → Room 1: 1 double bed, 1 bunk bed → Room 2: 1 double bed → Room 3: 1 single floor mattress if needed and 3 bunk beds ***Please note: prices are per person per night*** We also have a campsite (with tent hire available) and hook up points for camper vans. You can book out the entire bunkhouse for exclusive use. You can swim in the natural wild clay lined swimming pool if you're brave enough and pick your own veg and fruit (seasonally available). We have organic free range eggs from our rescue hens. We have a dry room to hang wet clothes and shoes. We can also provide washing and dryer facilities. The bunkhouse is built on the 43 acres of land with a traditional 19th century croft house and is home to 20 rescued hens, sheep as well as lots of wildflowers and planted trees and our own newly planted tea plantation.
Despite being only 11 miles long and 1 mile wide the island of Lismore, with a population of around 200 people, offers lots to see and do. There's a real sense of community, everyone is so friendly and welcoming you'll feel like a local in no time! The island itself is well known for it's stunning mountain scenery and array of wildlife, especially wildflowers and over 100 species of birds. Our Gaelic Heritage Centre and Museum is a 15-minute walk and well worth a visit along with the cafe and library. Our only shop is about a 5 minute walk away and the village hall where Ceilidhs and events take place is equally close. There are also plenty of historical sites to visit on the island, including castle ruins, an Iron Age Broch and a ruined Norse stronghold. Picturesque Port Ramsey is worth a walk and bike ride and nearer to us is the stunning and quaint harbour of Sailean, home of the once busy lime industry which was a major economy in the 19th century.
• Stylish, gleaming and endlessly helpful

• Clare and Mike are the perfect hosts. The bunkhouse is clean, spacious, and well located near the ferry terminal. Lismore is a gorgeous gorgeous island with many good walks and spectacular views. Just remember to bring food and drink :)

• I had a very lovely time at Clare and Mike's place. Despite the January Scottish weather we can expect, everything was cosy and warm, from the light and spacious bunkhouse to the hosts' hospitality and thoughtfulness. The bunkhouse is very comfortable and well-equipped. All the work being done on the croft is remarkable thanks to their ethical commitment. The world definitely needs more people like them, and their place should be of inspiration for many people, not simply during a short getaway.

• The bungalow is very spacious, clean and well equiped. The whole place is very cozy and perfect for long stays even of bigger groups or families. Clare was a great host, ready to pick us up at the ferry and give good tips. We would love to come again for a longer stay and help at the farm as well. Thank you!

• A charming and authentic bunkhouse in a working croft. Lismore is a lovely little village on a relatively secluded island, reached by a little ferry. Sadly we didn’t get a lot of time to explore the lay of the land due to arriving later than panned, but our trip was no less memorable. We were a couple with our two teens, and enjoyed the novelty of the bunks, which were very comfortable and the spacious attached bathroom & well equipped kitchen. Lucky for us, the other 2 beds in the 6 bedder were empty, so we had the room to ourselves. Claire and Mike were delightful hosts, sparing no effort despite their busy days to make us feel at home and set us up for maximum comfort. We came away in great appreciation of their conscious and sensitive lifestyle, and their utmost respect for their natural surroundings. We hope to return to Lismore for a longer stay someday and soak in more of its beauty and oneness with nature.

• The bunk house was a truly wonderful place to spend a few night's, I'll have to stay for longer next time! Everyone I met were extremely lovely beings, inclusive of Clares family and the animals!!! The dorm room was spacious and inviting with a great selection of books, beautiful view and a powerful shower. The space to eat and cook in was very well equipped and again another beautiful view. The island itself is small enough to hike around, but also full of hidden gems and steeped in history meaning you could spend quite some time exploring. I found the people to be friendly and the village shop surprisingly well stocked. Thank you so much for receiving me, I look forward to next time and will encourage others to do the same.

• Warm and welcoming; instant tranquility. Perfect for 'getting away from it all'.

Øliver2018-09-16T00:00:00Z
• The bunkhouse is excellent. It is comfortable and has all the amenities you need whilst on holiday. It is also a great way to meet new people and to see the beautiful landscapes and history of Scotland. To top it off, Clare and Mike are so lovely and really take care of you. I would highly recommend staying here.

• A great place to stay. Accommodations were fantastic, very clean and plenty of privacy. The location was excellent for us, conveniently located just outside of the hustle and bustle of Oban. Denise was very helpful with tips on things to do and where to go. Lovely breakfast to start the days. I will definitely stay there again.

• Denise gave us a very warm welcome and we were extremely comfortable during our stay. Denise’s home is well looked after and we were in a separate part of the house which felt quite private. The location is beautiful and convenient for catching the ferry to Mull. Many thanks Denise!
