The Studio is a unique little haven tucked in a Devonshire valley, a mile from the sea. Owned by an artist, it has a quirky shabby chique interior with an open plan living space, breakfast bar and balcony overlooking the valley. Its beautiful setting and location make it a perfect place to retreat to. The garden has a yoga platform for those who want to salute the Devon sun. Its located in a valley with a handful of other holiday cottages nearby and in sight, though its elevated place on the hill means its quiet and feels private. The bedroom has its own balcony doors opening onto the valley and a skylight overhead for stargazing from bed. The living room has a pull out sofa bed for 2 people expanding the capacity to 4 people staying, though please note that the space is best suited for couples. The Studio is light and airy during the summer with lots of wild birds. Please note that cooking facilities are not extensive but certainly sufficient. Have a look in the pictures so you can see what is available and know what to expect. There is a lovely stray black and white cat, Miss Frieda Meoiw, who comes and goes over the year, who makes her home the studio for some of the time. She may or may not be there when you visit. She is to stay outdoors, although she loves a cuddle and feed if you like cats! During the winter, it is snug, cosy and warm! There are village shops and excellent pubs in Thurlestone (1.5m), Bantham (0.9m) and Churchstow (2m) and Kingsbridge (4m) offers a supermarket, banks, numerous shops, cafes, galleries, yoga studio and a regular farmers markets. Surf rentals can be found in Churchstow or on Bantham beach. Free parking for 2 cars. Please note a car is essential to get to this area!
Just a short way from the award winning Bantham Beach, this is an area with incredible country walks in every direction leaving the house. The solitude and quiet of the valley is at the heart of its charm and with little light pollution, its a great place for star gazing at night. Truly a beautiful retreat!

  • Lovely little cabin in the countryside. Has everything you need for a cosy stay, although if you want to watch TV shows/movies, bring your laptop and either a hard drive of movies or DVD’s, as there is no TV and internet doesn’t stretch to streaming. Really close to lots of lovely beaches.

  • A beautifully decorated, light, deceptively spacious tranquil stay. Thoughtfully decorated with a few quirky touches, but more than enough modern touches to make it comfortable. A real gem in the Devon valleys. You will not be disappointed.

  • Katy’s place was perfect for a girly weekend away. We spent the majority of the time in the hot tub which was perfect. The pub down the road, Church House Inn was also great - fantastic food, friendly owner & locals who entertained us all evening!

    Georgie2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely space, great kitchen and beautiful bedroom and bathroom upstairs. Would definitely return! Free eggs from the chickens on the farm. Perfect for poaching

  • Fantastic little getaway with an amazing hot tub!

    Ruth2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • I booked Katy’s place as a surprise for my sister and her boyfriend and it definitely lived up to expectations! The cottage was extremely clean and a perfect set up for their little weekend away. They certainly made use of the hot tub and said Katy was super friendly and they loved meeting the dog too! They had a lovely walk in South Milton and thoroughly enjoyed their stay. Would definitely recommend and return. Thank you!

    Amber-Rose2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay and couldn't have asked for more! The house had everything we needed for eating, drinking and cooking and stayed really warm the whole time. The hot tub was perfect and made the stay extra special. Information of local things to do and shops close by was really helpful too - thank you for such a great experience!

    Rachel2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here for 2 nights with my partner and we couldn’t fault a thing. We were greeted on arrival and given tips on the best places to visit in the area, they were very friendly and welcoming. Easy to contact also, they even politely gave us some foil that we’d forgot to buy from the shop! (It’s only a 10/15 minute drive to Tesco.) The fire and the heated floor boards made everything so warm and cosy, just wish we’d booked even longer. Thanks again for such great hospitality!

    Helen2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • A peaceful and restful retreat. The local eggs available from the farm made for a tasty breakfast. Katy had left out several informative local brochures for us to taylor our stay at The Dairy, which were extremely helpful. Ending the day relaxing in the hot tub ! We would definitely stay again with Katy.

This is a newly built, stunning coastal property just 100m from a clean, sandy, surfers beach. Spacious and fully equipped with 4 large bedrooms on the ground floor and a large open plan living area on the 1st floor. Large patio and hilly garden.
This is a large newly built contemporary seaside home with a very tranquil feel about 100m from the Challaborough beach and 5 minute walk from Bigbury on Sea. 4 large bedrooms on the ground floor. One double room has a standard double bed, the other uses an IKEA Hemnes Day bed which can be a single or a double. Both quilts are available. One double bedroom has an ensuite with a walk in shower. The other double bedroom and two twin rooms share a family bathroom. Stairs lead to an open plan living space which comprises of a fully equipped kitchen, with washer and drier, a dining room and lounge. Large patio doors open up one entire side of the kitchen to a large, sunny patio with table, chairs and potted plants. Garden to the rear is grassed but hilly with a great sea view. Outdoor steps lead to a rooftop terrace which has not yet been developed. Parking for two cars maximum outside the house. However, for all other cars, the parking is 100m away in the Parkdean caravan site this costs £10 for a long weekend and £20 for a full week. Access to the property is via a secure pedestrian gate or a padlocked gate for vehicles via a building site.
The house is about 100m down the lane to the beautiful, safe, sandy beach at Challaborough where we boast views of Burgh Island. The beach hosts a small cafe and well stocked beach equipment shop, a seafront bar and restaurant and a Nisa grocery store. These facilities are all seasonal, however, and open April to the end of October. Challaborough is an award winning Blue Flag beach, popular with both swimmers and surfers. Life guards are on duty May to September. We are a 5-10 minute walk over the SW coastal path to Bigbury and about 20 minute walk in a westerly direction towards Aymer.
  • Great location and social space. Communication was prompt.

    Tamsin2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • The place is only a few metres from the beach, we visited off season so all the sites/bar etc were shut but that wasn’t a problem for us. Would be a great place to stay with children if you want a nice little beach stay

    Donna2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome location and spotless

    Alexander2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Superb house space with everything you could need for a perfect stay. The location is private and set back from the crowds but the beach & Burgh Island are just a short walk away. Sandra has a beautiful Summer home, which is spotless and has a fully kitted kitchen. The lounge area and kitchen make it a fabulous space for families or like us, a gathering of old friends to bring a little sunshine to a miserable January. Great and easy communication, Sandra was a wonderful hostess.

    Allie2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great for a family. Well equipped , bright and spacious. Perfect location for lovely walks and the beach.

    Sharon2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Sandra’s house is perfect for a family holiday. The open plan kitchen and lounge is a wonderful place to relax when back from exploring Devon and the layout down stairs with the bedrooms is perfect for privacy. We had a wonderful holiday

    Beth2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely stay in this modern, well equipped home. Sandra was very helpful. Brilliant location for cliff walks towards Bigbury bay and Burgh island where we hired surf/paddle boards and kayaks to get around Burgh island in lovely October sunshine! Hired boat at Salcombe harbour and enjoyed lovely dinner at Journeys End pub.

    Amy2019-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location for young families. The beach is spotless and great for swimming and the house is very practical for children. The South coast path is two minutes from the house and the views over Burgh Island and Aymer Cove are gorgeous. Our favourite food places were Journey's End and the Oyster Shack, both close by. There is obviously a huge caravan park in Challaborough which may bother some but it's a nice park with good amenities and they take excellent care of the beach. The combination of the stunning house and great location for children made it a fantastic fortnight.

The Hut is ideally situated in South Devon and offers a peaceful rural retreat with close proximity to many Devon beaches and towns.

The Hut now has it's own hot tub, which is perfectly situated to enjoy a tipple whilst enjoying spectacular views across open countryside to Dartmoor. As well as the hot tub, outside The Hut is plenty of space to unwind with lounger chairs, picnic table and chimenea. There is ample room to pitch a tent for additional guests by [small extra cost by arrangement] but please note there are no other toilet or shower facilities available.
This is a beautiful place to live, a gem we found a few years ago and have gradually been transforming into our forever home. We love the combination of privacy with rural living and proximity to the wonderful South Hams places, events and culture. Waking up to gorgeous views, listening to the birds and countryside noises is bliss.
  • Friendly welcome and a perfect location. The hut was clean and quirky and the Hot Tub was excellent.

  • What a fantastic place to stay this was. Lovely little remote location with all the amenities required to enjoy your stay. Hosts are fantastic. Couldn't recommend enough and even thinking about booking again for next year.

  • We had a really lovely weekend away here, Alasdair was there to greet us on arrival and show us around the shepherd’s hut. We had a lovely meal at the Church House Inn which was 15 minutes’ walk away with a great atmosphere. The hot tub was the real highlight and really made our trip! We also visited Thurleston Sands which was a great beach nearby and Kingsbridge which was a lovely little town. The Shepherd’s Hut was fantastic and we would definitely stay here again.

    Faye2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic Shepard’s hut with everything you need! Small, Warm and cosy. A stunning peaceful location, outstanding area just 15 minutes to the coast. Siobahn & Alistair were excellent hosts, seeing them at the local pub and even gave us a lift to the bus stop! Loved the Hot Tub.

    Pete2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Siobahn’s place is in a great location with real privacy. The hut itself is clean and well equipped with everything you could need. The hot tub is to a good standard and has a nice outlook over the neighbouring fields and rolling hills.

  • Lovely place for a relaxing couple of days. Not a bad word to say... we'll be back 😊

    Hannah2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most wonderful stay here and I would recommend it to anyone (in fact I will be!). Alistair and Siobahn are such lovely hosts, they really go above and beyond and are so easily contacted when/if needed. The place itself is so cute and has everything you need plus a hot tub!! We came for a long weekend for my boyfriends birthday and it’s a perfect base to explore the local area - it’s only a £20 taxi home from Salcombe if you fancy a few bevs. The pub that’s a ten minute walk is lovely too with great food and friendly staff. Thank you so so much, we loved it ❤️

  • The location is fantastic, local beaches nearby recommended by Katy were lovely. Great space, underfloor heating was a welcome addition and the hot tub and balcony area was beautiful to sit and watch the stars. Very clean, would definitely visit again!

    Elizabeth2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great time at Katy's farm house, it was clean spacious and cosy. The hot tub was fantastic and we really enjoyed seeing the animals. We watched some or the classic DVDs provided and had a much needed chilled few days.

    Antonia2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely break at the hayloft, relaxing, quiet environment perfect for escaping the real world! Added bonus was the hot tub!

    Jodie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The best part of the trip was waking up to horses outside your bedroom window, plus a couple of ducks and the odd cockerel. Cannot recommend enough!

    Charlie2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • The Hayloft is a lovely space and we had a lovely weekend. Hoping to be back soon

    Tracy2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing weekend stay here! If you need to leave the house you will probably need to drive as the country lanes are very narrow. Hot tub was so relaxing and the hayloft was really homely. Friendly horses next door. Bring milk if you want a cuppa. Would definitely recommend to a friend! Thank you Katy so responding via message to us and making everything so easy!

    Georgia2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Pretty scenery, lovely hot tub, and friendly and helpful host - Thank You!!

    Brandon2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great 2 night stay at Katy’s place, location is fab if you want something out of the way in the middle of nowhere. The air bnb itself is next to the main house but very private. The hot tub and terrace outside are not overlooked so it felt like we were completely on our own which was lovely. The pictures don't do it justice as there was a lot more space than we were expecting, and the house was super clean and modern. Just a tip if you're a light sleeper you may be woken by the roosters but in general we couldn't hear a thing it was so quiet around. Overall would be very happy to stay again!

  • Yet another wonderful stay here. We chose to spend another New Year at The Loft, exploring our fave South Hams. It’s the perfect base for the surrounding area and also for cosying up on a Winter’s Eve. Everything you need is here. What we love about Sam is that although she is absolutely on hand whenever you may need her, you are left to your own devices. She is a first rate communicator and utterly reliable.

    Karen2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The loft is absolutely fantastic. Two friends and I came for a weekend away to relax before the Christmas Craziness begins. The loft is such a great space and is really clean and tidy. It’s in a fab location for exploring the neighbouring seaside towns and villages. We let our self in and we’re left to our own devices all weekend but Sam and her family were nearby if we needed them. We will be back ☺️

    Hattie2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the Loft! Spacious and light, but still cosy. Close to many beaches, cafes, walks and pubs! We didn’t bump into Sam but he was communicative and helpful. We would definitely stay here again!

    Jake2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • The loft is a wonderfully designed space which offers everything you need and more for a get away. In a great location and as private as you want it to be the Loft is certainly somewhere we would return. Sam is so helpful but also gives you space and is there if you need her.

The Piggery is a delightful, sun filled, light and airy, two bedroom, two bathroom detached home on Ham Farm. Stylish, cosy and beautifully designed and hand made by artists, The Piggery offers a unique and unforgettable stay near the coast in Devon. The traditional Orchard to the South, planted by us fifteen years ago, boasts vintage cider apples, delicious cookers and eaters plus mulberry, plums, perry pears, medlar and quince. We produce our own cider and apple juice too..
This contemporary and highly original home at Ham Farm in rural South Devon offers all the modern conveniences, including a dishwasher and washer. Every item has been carefully chosen or made to compliment the architecture and to ensure a comfortable stay. Much of it designed and made by the owners or their friends. Whether you decide to sit at home and enjoy the serenity of the countryside, the views over the orchard, private garden and patio and the cosy warmth of the wood burning stove, or travel farther afield to enjoy the exquisite landscape of the South Hams from a very central location, The Piggery offers everything you need to make your stay easy, relaxing and fun. Well situated a short walk away from Loddiswell, and right in the centre of the South Hams, The Piggery offers easy access to the stunning coastline with its famous South West Coast Path, beautiful and secluded beaches, magnificent Dartmoor, and all the amenities the South Hams has to offer: Kingsbridge (10 mins.), Dartmouth (25 mins.), Salcombe (25 mins.) and Totnes (25 mins.) are all worth visiting, each offering something special. There are many charming villages close by, and the internationally recognised Dartington Estate is within 30 minutes. Loddiswell has in the past been a little overlooked but offers such a lot on many levels, we love it here! For those who like to walk, there are essentials available in the village via a short footpath and there are numerous trails, green lanes and Avon River walks that begin right at your doorstep and may be interrupted with a delicious cream tea or lunch at Avon Mill Garden Centre. Other benefits include plenty of parking for up to 3 cars, drive up access, expert local knowledge….. The bedrooms are small but perfectly formed.. the larger has a very comfortable King size bed complete with boutique Egyptian bed linen. The smaller, with its en-suite shower and loo is a narrow (4') but extra long double and can sleep two cuddly people or children who don't mind sharing. We also have a single mattress with bedding provided for a small extra charge - please ask when booking. Please let us know if you have kids as there are a couple of provisos regarding care of its furnishings ..
The South Hams is a gem in the UK.. beautiful with a mass of things to do both inside and out... glorious and wild coastline, with its swimming, sailing, surfing, hiking, golf or simply taking in the stunning landscape..and Dartmoor is just 20 minutes away. Inland there's much to do and see - we will provide leaflets, brochures etc. - just ask or visit Tourist Information in Kingsbridge. Totnes, Dartmouth, Salcombe and Kingsbridge are all special in their own way and once you've mastered the winding and secret Devon lanes there's beauty around every corner. Once you've been captivated you'll wish to return.. It's a good idea to search through our Guidebook here in case you wish to eat out in one of the busier places.. as we have many visitors throughout the year they will fill up all year round so it's worth booking in ad.
  • A fantastic and relaxing place, with great facilities. We enjoyed wonderful hospitality from Peet and Carl and their family. The home pressed apple juice is to die for and the location is a great spot for getting to south coast and the Dartmouth and Salcombe areas. Would definitely recommend it for a few days to unwind and explore the South Devon area.

    John2020-02-22T00:00:00Z

  • The Piggery is a great cottage to unwind in South Devon. The cottage is in a great location to explore the countryside and nearby coastline. The cottage itself is a pleasure to stay in - we spent our evenings relaxings by the log burner. Peet and Carl are ideal hosts and respond quickly to questions.

    Patrick2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • A stylish yet cosy retreat in the beautiful Devon countryside. Peet and Carl's place is one of a kind, full of their own artistic touches which makes this place feel very special indeed. We slept so well here and really looked forward coming back to The Piggery each day to put the log burner on and relax in the comfortable surroundings. Very well equipped. Didn't miss the TV at all! We'll be back!

  • We couldn’t have asked for a more cosy comfortable stay. Booked for a birthday celebration for my mum who turned 69 so that we could go off to burgh island the following day, 52 Brownston was a fanatic location. The house it’s self was incredibly comfortable and stylish. Couldn’t have wished for a better stay.

  • I returned to Tilly’s, another working trip ,she makes her guests really welcome and so comfortable in her lovely light and restful home!

    Charles2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Tilly made us very welcome at her spotless and stylish home... despite our having to cancel on two previous occasions due to the various storms ...! We hope to return to continue our recce of this lovely area very soon and hopefully stay with her again ...

    Mary2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Tilly is a wonderful host. She made us feel incredibly welcome and comfortable. Her home is beautiful and our space was immaculate. Tilly was helpful every step of the way from notifications to adapting to our needs. Her home is close to the town center with easy parking. We look forward to going back.

    Todd2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Tilly gave me a very warm welcome to her beautiful home. The rooms were sparkling clean and I had everything I needed. The house itself was peaceful and quiet and the road also, but it was also easy walking distance into the lovely small town of Modbury. The bedroom was very comfortable and the private bathroom next door was perfect. I didn’t feel I was intruding on Tilly’s privacy as I had the middle floor to myself. We shared the kitchen but I didn’t use it for more than a cup of tea as I was eating with my sister locally for all meals, but had I needed to it was very clean and Tilly had said I could use it if I wanted to. There was a TV in the lounge which I could also use if I had wanted to. WiFi was also available. All in all, Tilly’s place was perfect for my circumstances and I would happily stay again if I needed to.

    Liz2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Tilly's house is on a new estate in the attractive little Georgian town of Modbury. The Development where the house is located is very pretty with some great views out towards Dartmoor. This is a relatively new housing complex and the facilities within Tilly's lovely town house are exceptional. She couldn't have done more to make me feel relaxed and at ease. Nothing was too much trouble and I felt at home almost as soon as I'd arrived. The house was spotlessly clean and I cannot think how anything could be improved upon. Staying with Tilly has been a wonderful experience and I cannot recommend her home and hospitality highly enough.

    Steph2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great all round place to stay, very clean and comfortable.

  • Tilly's home is just beautiful and the room is gorgeous, with your own bathroom. The location is also just stunning. Tilly was an amazing host - she was so accommodating and helpful and kind. I definitely recommend staying with Tilly to anyone who is in the area.

  • A wonderful bolt hole to explore a beautiful part of the world. Laura was a very good host with quick responses, checking we had everything we needed and making sure we had some lovely scones on arrival. She even left some dog biscuits for our dog Monti. Exceptionally clean and loads of room. A real home from home

  • If you're looking for a quiet location this is for you. Splendid walks from the door. Being out of the main season, it was great for the dog as they are allowed on most of the beaches. Local pub offered good food, and the shop ....all only 5 mins drive away.

Laura made it very welcoming and left us some lovely treats which were an added bonus :) We did some great coast and beach walks nearby, the weather quite wild at times but the lodge very warm to come back too! I would definitely recommend and imagine in the summer it must be even better with the lovely terrace to enjoy :)

  • We wanted a place away from everything to simply relax and take the dogs out for walks. We couldn’t have picked a better place. Very easy access to the coastal walk, 45min from Dartmoor... just what we wanted. The dogs were initially super excited but I fear they may attack us next time we say “walkies”. Big garden, amazing views, nice warm lodge. Perfect for relaxing! Highly recommended.

It also has a doctors surgery, dentist and vet.
  • Lovely cottage with everything you need. Highly recommend staying here!

  • Katherine’s place was perfect for our weekend stay, where we could finish off our coverage of the Devon coastline. Accommodation was clean and tidy with all the amenities needed for a stay away. The local pub, The Dolphin was a great treat and saved us cooking for the first evening. Definitely recommend for a break away, close to the coast, perfectly practical and a joy to stay.

  • Really great place to stay to see the south devon coast. Well equipped kitchen, which you don't always get in airbnbs, eco- conscious host and super cosy house. Would definitely both recommend and go again

  • Our stay at The Coachhouse was the perfect quiet weekend away. Communication from Katherine beforehand was quick and the instructions on getting to the property were very clear. The Coachhouse itself was clean, tidy and very well equipped! And there are some great walks and beaches nearby! We wouldn’t hesitate to book to stay here again!

  • Was such a lovely location, the cottage itself was so homely and welcoming. Would definitely come back!

  • The Coach House was a lovely place to stay. We particularly liked having the wood burner (take logs or get them from the local garage). A great place to stay in a truly beautiful area.

From your own, private terrace you can enjoy the fabulous views of the South Hams countryside and Dartmoor. Watch the most extraordinarily beautiful sunsets followed by an explosion of colour across the sky. As the night sets in, enjoy a glass of wine whilst wrapped up in a fleece throw provided and simply stargaze to the sound of owls hooting. Our pretty timber cabin is situated in a private location surrounded by fields but only a stone's throw from the heritage market town of Modbury.
The cabin has two cosy bedrooms each with a standard double bed furnished with crisp cotton bed linen and with thick, fluffy white towels. One bedroom has an en suite shower and wc and there is a separate bathroom. The light and airy living room has comfortable sofas and is equipped with free Wi-Fi, TV/DVD player, Roberts digital radio, board games, books and a selection of DVDs for you to enjoy. The well equipped kitchen has a washing machine, tumble dryer, double oven, hob and a fridge freezer. There is a kettle, toaster and Nespresso coffee machine for your use. Olive oil and a selection of herbs are provided and enough muesli, milk, coffee and tea to get you started. French windows open from the dining area and take you to the decked terrace which has table and chairs and a gas barbecue. The cabin has central heating making it perfect for use all year round. The Nest is on a farm property so there is plenty of parking available.
The Nest at Little Sheepham, is perfectly situated equidistant between the fabulous South Devon coast and glorious Dartmoor so for those of you who find it difficult to decide whether to go for a country holiday or a coastal holiday, this is perfect; you can have both! Our pretty local town of Modbury has a Co-op, butchers and delicatessen and is a lovely place to wander and explore the interesting shops, galleries, cafes and pubs. Treat yourself to coffee and cake at one of the cafes or visit the ancient Exeter Inn for lunch. Spend time at our favourite beach ( 15 minutes away) at the entrance to the Erme Estuary, part of the Flete Estate where parts of the films Sense and Sensibility and International Velvet were filmed. Bantham and Bigbury Beaches are 20 minutes away. The beautiful coastal town of Dartmouth is only 25 minutes drive away. It is easy to spend at least a day looking around the eclectic collection of shops or taking a boat trip up the River Dart to Dittisham or as far as Totnes. Dartmouth has some great restaurants and pubs. The pretty harbour town of Salcombe is a mere 20 minutes drive. If the sun is shining, take the passenger ferry across to Mill bay beach. Totnes makes for an interesting day's shopping in particular on Fridays when there is a colourful market in the morning. There are some wonderful coastal walks locally, some in particular offer the opportunity for a circular walk with a lunch stop at a pub! Take a trip onto Dartmoor and enjoy the wilderness but drive carefully as the native ponies, sheep and cattle roam freely. There are some amazing walks on the moor for all abilities from a short gentle stroll to a decent day's hike. There are some lovely villages to visit on the moors and some great cafes, farm shops and pubs to grab refreshments. We are only 10 minutes from the A38, making us not only easy to get to but also making a day trip to Exeter or a lunch at Rick Stein's in Padstow, Cornwall a real possibility.

  • Such a beautiful location and lovely hostesses who go above and beyond for their guests. Their communication skills were phenomenal from directions, local places to go and even helping with the local takeaway through storm Dennis. Arrived on Valentine’s Day and such a warm welcome! Freshly home made bread to a beautiful bunch of flowers and even a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge! Highly recommended even if it’s raining! Will be returning in the summer! 5* and defiantly more!

    Dave2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Superbly presented and in a great location. Couldn't have had a better welcome with fresh bread, teas, milk etc etc in a brilliantly set-up apartment with southerly views across the valley.

    Tony2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great apartment, accurately described, well appointed, lovely comfortable bed and large bathroom with both bath and shower. Kay is a great host and provided some great welcoming touches; homemade bread, fresh orange juice, wine, tea, coffee, butter, jams and more. The best we have ever received at an Airbnb. The apartment was lovely and warm thanks to the ground source heat pump heating. We arrived in the middle of storm Ciara but the apartment kept us snug, warm and was quiet thanks to the double glazing. As Kay says the apartment is about 15 minutes to Bantham beach which we and our dog loved.

    John2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful little place, hidden deep in the valley, with a gorgeous view,we were treated to buzzards, sheep, birds and a nosy pheasant. No noise, pure tranquility.Great use of space, amazingly comfortable bed, slept so well, bath made it for us, was amazing. Loved the fresh bread still warm on arrival, jams marmalades, herbal teas, gorgeous coffee, fresh milk, juice, wine, butter and elderflower juice. We had a perfect weekend, couldn't of been better. The owner allowed us in early,we didn't live far away, it made it for us as it was kind of like an extra day. We will 100 percent book again. Thank you very much.

    Kelly2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great immaculate flat with most amazing view, nice terrace and garden. The flat is very close to bantham beach and some pubs as well. We were also very impressed with all the little touches made by Kay, nice flowers, home baked bread, jams, fresh milk and fresh juice and many more. Kay’s hospitality, her flat and location is definitely exceeded our expectations. We will definitely revisit in the summer and will recommend to our friends. Our dog loved the experience too, thank you so much.

  • Driftwood is just as you imagine clean and a great place to stay Kay left some lovely food and drink which wasnt expected but greatfully received. West Buckland is a fab area and so quiet and the beach at Bantham was amazing even in January

Our charming shepherd hut provides cosy accommodation for two with stunning views to the countryside nestled in its own meadow on our small farm. Although our beautiful hut is hidden away in a peaceful quiet location, there’s something for everyone nearby. Located in the heart of the South Hams countryside near the town of Modbury there are spectacular views, walks and scenery all year round.
Drive down our private lane and park in the car park before a short (200m) walk down the fields to access the hut. The double French doors open up to reveal a beautiful characterful interior. At one end is a built in double bed, with lots of storage underneath. There’s an open plan living and kitchen space with power points for your electrical items. A door at the other end leads to the shower room with electric shower and WC. For the colder nights you can stoke up the wood burner, providing plenty of warmth. The galley kitchen has all the basics (including tea, coffee and sugar) and provides a simple space with a useful drop-leaf table for cooking up your own meals. There is a fridge to keep the essentials cold and an electric hob, kettle and toaster. Outside the French doors is a decked covered balcony with table and chairs so you can relax and enjoy the views in peace and quiet. A perfect setting to enjoy an alfresco dinner at the end of the day or a game of cards. Feel free to use the BBQ or fire pit (some wood provided) in the evening, you may even hear the rustle of the local badgers, deer and wildlife in the fields. We are a short walk from Andrews Wood Nature Reserve, an established woodland with a collection of ferns and beautiful wildflowers. A walk through Andrews Wood takes you past a ruined farmstead and gardens long abandoned by people. Exmoor ponies graze the wood which is home to the Heath Lobelia which is thought to exist in just six locations in England, making Andrews Wood a site of Special Scientific Interest. A short 30 minute drive from the farm will find you in picturesque Dartmoor National Park for some breathtaking walks. In the opposite direction, some of the West Country’s best beaches can be found. Bantham or Bigbury for the surfers (or sunbathers!) and plenty of coastal paths for the hikers. If shopping is more your thing there are plenty of small towns to potter through including Totnes, Salcombe and Kingsbridge. There are lots of places to eat nearby more details and recommendations will be in your welcome pack. Less than a mile from the hut you can easily walk to the local pub which has a well-stocked shop opposite if you’ve left any of your essentials at home! There are lots of places to eat nearby
  • Had a lovely mini break here with my partner and my little dog. Jan was very helpful through the booking process as I had a few hiccups with the air bnb app. Her directions were spot on and she was very welcoming when we arrived and left us to our own devices for the duration of the visit. She had very kindly provided a water bowl, dog towel and some dog treats for my four legged friend which I thought was a lovely touch. The shepherds hut itself was very secluded and far from the main house, situated in a field that we had all to ourselves, which was lovely for my dog to play with toys when we weren't out exploring. And even though it was pretty cold outside, the woodburner made the place lovely and warm. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet little getaway and I would definitely visit again!

    Litty2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay. The accommodation was clean and cosy and contained everything needed for a short break. We were unlucky with the weather so would love to return in the Summer months and enjoy the outside space. If you are looking for somewhere quiet and secluded to recharge your batteries this is ideal.

    Jody2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely couple of days at the cabin. It’s located at the end of a field so you are well out of the way and it’s lovely and quiet. The log burner does a great job heating the place and it was nice not to have to go outside to get to the loo/shower. The cabin was spotlessly clean and the bed nice and comfy. Good hot shower too. The cabin was easy to find and only a short drive to the coast for days walking and exploring the area. It’s beautiful even in January!

    Rebecca2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The shepherds hut was lovely - very toasty with the log burner and stylishly kitted out. We were a bit unfortunate with the weather (flood warnings and all!) so didn’t get the chance to make the most of the gorgeous location, but we were very happy snuggled up there. Thanks Jan!

    Alex2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place for a weekend get away, would be perfect in the summer but still an amazing place in the winter because of the log burner and wood which is available to warm you up and allow you to cosy up in the cabin 😌😌 It’s a must for me if you want a countryside scape 👌🏼

    Mike2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • The space is beautifully decorated and sparkling clean, really easy to get to yet feels so secluded once there. A perfect space for a peaceful getaway. Would 100% recommend to all. Great walking routes, shopping and dining nearby. Will definitely be back!

    Emma2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderfully private and peaceful. A lovely cosy hut with everything you need and amazingly clean. The fire will keep you warm on even the coldest of nights. An excellent base to explore the local area.

    Rebecca2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time staying at Jan's hut and it felt as if we were returning to a place that we own! As always, the hut was spotless clean and well stacked with coffee, tea, milk, sugar, wood for the log burner, etc. This time around we booked ourselves on the Great Robin Round Trip (Steam train, Bus and Steam Ferry) and it was lovely returning home to a warm and cosy cabin. We spent hours sat on the veranda, watching the stars and chatting. Maximum romance! I just love seeing the effect that this gorgeous secluded spot has on my often-stressed husband. Your place is magic, Jan, a real tonic and you're a wonderful hostess. Thank you so much for having us again, we can't wait to be back soon!

  • We had a lovely time staying at Sarah's lodge. It was clean, spacious, well equipped and tastefully decorated. A lot of care and attention to detail to ensure that travellers have a comfortable stay. The farm itself is lovely and peaceful. The children enjoyed seeing the animals everyday. We spent most of the time out visiting places, but it was nice to come back to a lovely peaceful lodge. Above all Sarah and Mark are really amazing hosts.....so friendly. I would thoroughly recommend farm for a stay.

  • Penny was a fantastic host and went above and beyond to ensure our stay went smoothly as possible. She was always there to answer any questions we had and was very accommodating. She provided us with bread, granola and eggs for when we arrived which we thought was a lovely touch! The hayloft is beautifully designed, cosy and comfortable! It is located in gorgeous countryside - we will definitely come back!

  • What a treat to stay at Penny's hayloft. Spotlessly clean, lovely touches (like the addition oat milk, which I appreciated being vegan). Penny's eye for interior design and her choice of original artwork were a pleasure to be around. The bed was so comfy I resented coming back to ours. Everything was perfect inside and the location was excellent. There was a lovely little area where it would have been nice to eat if we hadn't stayed during Storm Dennis :-) Would recommend highly.

    Angie2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Simply beautiful, lovely place. Tea, coffee, biscuits, eggs provided and a full functioning kitchen. It's quite a way from shops so I would bring some bread with you for the morning if you want to have breakfast there. Lovely decor, it felt like home :)

    Anna2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful little hideaway for getting away from it all, but with easy access to the moor and the sea. I especially loved the extra comfy bed and the artwork (oil paintings) on the walls! Definitely a place to come back to.

    Aileen2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely five nights at penny's place in January. Great location for exploring south Dartmoor and also some of the beautiful coastal walks south Devon has to offer. The flat has everything you need, super comfy bed, lovely bath and shower and well equipped kitchen. Thoughtfully decorated and perfect for a relaxing break. It's a converted barn so almost all the natural light comes through the skylights but this just made it very cosy in the winter. Also bonus of some fresh eggs left out was a lovely surprise. Thank you for a great stay!

  • I really enjoyed my stay at this completely out of the way haven of peace! Stayed on a wet blustery night but the room was warm, cosy and had a lovely modern bathroom with a lush shower. The main house is extremely old and has loads of character and appears to be part of a farm, I didn't get the chance to meet the hosts but Charlotte communicated extremely quickly to any queries. Would stay again!

Explore all that South Devon has to offer from our doorstep! From beach to Tor, our base is ideally placed: a short drive to the coast, as well as 15 minutes to Ivybridge, the doorway to Dartmoor. Modbury itself is a quaint market town with three pubs to explore, all within walking distance of our front door. Includes breakfast. We are pet friendly and have our own Cocker Spaniel puppy who lives upstairs with us. Interaction as guests prefer. See our other listing if looking for 2 rooms!
Based on a quiet road a few turns off the high street, our home is within walking distance of everything Modbury has to offer. Our house is an upside-down house, with our guest rooms and private bathroom based on the ground floor, with our living space on the 1st and 2nd floor. Our main guest room (pictured) is a light, clean, roomy bedroom with a double bed. There is ample space to unpack, with a tall wardrobe and a chest of drawers. The window looks out onto our very quiet street and feels very private. In winter, you won't be cold, with central heating and extra blankets provided for your comfort if needed. If we are in during the evenings, you are welcome to join us enjoying our open fire in the living room. In the summer, we can provide a fan if sunny Devon gets too much for our guests! You may also feel free to take advantage of our 1st floor sun-trap terrace. Free parking is available on our street, with an often unused spot directly across from our house. In the rare occasion this is filled, you can find other free spaces on the nearby streets. As mentioned above, we are pet friendly and have our own Cocker Spaniel puppy. The dog is not allowed in the guest room and is kept separately upstairs, so interaction can be kept to a minimum if required. Included in your stay: - Free fast WiFi - Continental breakfast with fresh fruit (let us know if you have any dietary requirements and we will try to cater accordingly). If the weather is warm enough, this can be served on our terrace over looking the hills. - Towels, including beach towels if required - Hair dryer - Access to iron/ironing board - Access to our courtyard garden & terrace - Use of washing machine/tumble dryer if required
Modbury is a charming small market town, with a quirky edge (proudly claiming to be the first UK town to ban the use of plastic bags - since 2007!) With modern amenities such as pubs, takeaways, art galleries and cafes, Modbury is also steeped in history, the town itself having been recorded in the Doomsday book. Modbury means "meeting place" in Old English. Modbury is ideal to access everything that South Devon has to offer: A walkers paradise, with Dartmoor, the South West Coast Path, South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and a variety of heritage trail walks around the town itself. If it is the sea that draws you, you cannot beat Bantham, Bigbury on Sea and our personal favourite, Mothecome - all a short drive from Modbury.
  • Very comfortable room, immaculate and stylish. I love a good shower, this one was just perfect.. can’t think of anything that would make our stay any better.

  • Would recommend this room to anyone wanting to stay in South Devon. The room was so comfortable and clean and Beth and Chris were such lovely hosts- we were spoilt with a delicious breakfast of pastries, yoghurt and fresh fruit both mornings. The house is just off the main road of Modbury which is a very pretty town. Beth and Chris recommended some great walks to us, washed down with some good pub grub; we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

  • This place was so lovely, clean and owned by friendly hosts. They provide everything that is mentioned in the description and more! The breakfast that is provided in the morning was very yummy. Also, the communication was great! 10/10 for everything. Thank you so much for making our stay comfortable and enjoyable!

  • Very central house in this lovely old village - a short walk to ther shops, pubs and countryside as well convenient for drive to gorgeous beaches. Very clean bedroom and ensuite bathroom with good shower. Comfortable bed. Hosts very helpful and friendly. Delicious breakfast made by Beth of toast, croissants or ceral and freshly brewed coffee. No view from the bedroom but despite overlooking the small street, it was quiet at night. Very accommodating to our young dog.

    Jennifer2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay with Beth and Chris. They are very accommodating and willing to help if you need anything. The property is lovely as is the location. The house is very comfortable and clean. The Town itself is very charming and locals very friendly. Would recommend the Modbury Inn and Exeter Inn to have a cheeky drink or some dinner. The welcome book is also very helpful with advice on where to go and things to do. Thank you very much to both of you and not forgetting Finn.

Located on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, this is an ideal place to stay if you are walking the Two Moors Way through Dartmoor and Exmoor as well as being the perfect base to take day hikes through the park. Close also to the South West Coast Path and many stunning beaches in the area, such as Firestone Bay, South Milton Sands, Barn Pool Beach, Mill Bay, Bantham Beach and Blackpool Sands. Easy access also by car or bus into Plymouth, Exeter and Dartmouth.
We live in a very secure, peaceful and quiet area, surrounded by countryside.
Nearby we have a large Tesco’s which is about a 10 minute walk or a 2 minute drive. There is also a local pub which serves food. This is only a 1 minute walk from the house. There is easy access to the A38 which can take you straight into Plymouth or a nearer town called Ivybridge. We are located very close to Dartmoor which can be walked to, or a short drive.
  • Lovely hosts, made me feel welcome. Adorable cats, nice and clean home. Comfy bed and made sure I had a pleasant stay.

    Justin2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The room that I rented for in Lee Mill for a week was incredibly good value for money. Located in a quiet cul de sac in a village but I could be in town (Plymouth) in just ten minutes. The room was a really good size with a very comfortable sofa bed and nice bedding - lovely big pillows. I hadn't expected the en suite shower room and that was such a bonus. Also my own kettle plus tea and coffee making bits. And my own TV. Superfast internet too. And they had bought me 2 pints of fresh milk. They were also fine about me using the kitchen and keeping things in the fridge. They provided breakfast as well! I could choose to eat my meals in my room or downstairs in their dining/living room. Everything was really tidy and clean and the house has a lovely feel to it. Maya and Jamie were really the best hosts. They are a delightful young couple with their heads screwed on the right way. They are so kind and considerate of everyone and everything around them. We had some great chats but they also gave me plenty of space to catch up with work and sleep. 100% would recommend.

  • Super welcoming and easy going host, great clean room and ensuite bathroom. Nice complimentary tea and coffee, even had a Christmas card!! Couldn't have asked for more.

    Felix2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Maya and Jamie are very welcoming hosts, there when you want them but not intrusive. They clearly enjoy sharing their home with their guests and have made a cosy little private space for them. Breakfast is included as well.

    Anne2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I received a warm welcome from Maya on our arrival. The en-suite bedroom was really clean and comfortable. The breakfast was a variety between toast, cereals and fruit. The hospitality we received from Maya was flawless. We will definitely choose Maya’s place if we’ll revisit the area. Thank you very much, Maya

  • Lovely base for us this weekend celebrating my birthday. My husband and I met in Devon 10 years ago and we used Carol and Marcs place to introduce our 3.5 month old son to the county! Carol was brilliant with communication before and during our stay and the cake was lovely! Very comfortable stay and close to our favourite restaurant the beach house!! We would definitely return, maybe when our son is a little older so we can wear him and the dog running up and down on the beach!! Thanks for your hospitality this weekend, we had a great first family holiday!

It is a very comfortable cottage, in ideal farming location with scenic views, central to a wide spectrum of stunning estuaries, beaches and countryside (Prawle Point, Salcombe, Kingsbridge, Bigbury on Sea's sandy beach & Burgh Island: they are all lovely). That is a HOLIDAY!!!: and then you return to Carol's delightful property which is all comfort.

  • Outstanding location, amazing view and thoughtful goodies from our hosts - it was such a great holiday. The house is a great size and the garden is lovely. We stayed with our two kids (toddler and baby) and had a great time. It’s so convenient as you can just walk straight to the beach. Lucy was really helpful, getting us a clothes horse when the weather turned so we could dry our clothes inside and being readily available to help in any other way. Thank you Lucy and Angela!

  • You can be assured of a great host team looking after your stay at 'Pentille'. From initial booking, through to arrival and recommendations for eateries and ideas to while away the time; we were made to feel most welcome. The property is sparkling clean and in the most enviable location, 12m above sea level on the South West Coast footpath. Just a short 30 metre walk to the sandy beach. Great for families especially with the RNLI lifeguards and waves for body boarding. Some great walks direct from the property with maps and ideas available in the informative welcome pack. A fantastic place to wake up, throw open the curtains and drink in the vistas with your morning coffee. Definetly a place to keep coming back to and recharge ones batteries.

Stay in our home with us for a warm, relaxed and comfortable start or finish to moorland walking and a traditional breakfast to set you up perfectly. Our house is a 10 min walk away from Ivybridge train station and a 5 min walk away from the start of the Two Moors Way. Guests have sole use of a living room/conservatory and are welcome to use the kitchen at any time to make hot drinks.
Our home is a four bedroomed, detached house within a stone's throw of Dartmoor and the start of the Two Moors Way. We also have a twin room, Bracken as well as our single room, Gorse. A bathroom with powerful shower and bathtub is shared exclusively by the three rooms. Guests are very warmly welcomed, and we are only too happy to recommend local establishments and attractions. Pubs and restaurants can be reached by foot from our home. Ivybridge also has a leisure centre and pool open to all, and a library and cinema. There is also a beautiful, quiet woodland river walk less than five minutes away by foot from us. We are within half an hour's drive to the South Devon coast with many incredibly beautiful beaches.
  • We had a very nice time at this lovely place and the breakfast was a perfect start for the day. There are some really nice walks just in front of the door :)

  • A friend and I booked two nights with Cheryl and her husband and we couldn't have been more pleased! They were friendly and attentive hosts and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed for our stay (the cake was much appreciated!). Our room was warm, comfortable and clean; a real luxury after spending 10 hours running the trails in the rain! We didn't take up the kind offer of a cooked breakfast as we had to hit the road early but they had a great selection of cereals, porridge, fruit and freshly made bread. I thoroughly recommend this place to anyone looking to explore the Dartmoor National park and the Two Moors Way. Thanks again Cheryl!

    Elisabeth2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • As in my review below, we initially intended on staying just the one night but are glad we stayed two! Thank you Cheryl - we will book again when we visit Dartmoor National Park in the near future.

  • Great location for visiting Dartmoor Park. Cheryl is very welcoming. Nothing is missing in his house. Small touches of attention with hot drinks, cookies, map of the park. We spent a quiet night. His breakfast is delicious. We recommend his house which will welcome you warmly. Thank you Cheryl Suzie and Greg

  • Stayed here for 1 night while I visited family. Perfect in every way. Treated to an aga breakfast too which was delicious! Cheryl kindly accommodated all 6 of us and even had activities to entertain the little ones! Thank you so much. We’ll definitely be back x

  • Stayed at Cheryl’s place for work purposes. Excellent communication and very accommodating as I was travelling a long distance on the first day. I wasn’t there much apart from in the evenings to sleep . The owners always greeted me when I came in and made me feel comfortable. Both Cheryl and her husband are very nice and makes you feel at home. The place is very clean and quiet . It was perfect for me.

Step back in time for a very special stay in our Gorgeous Grade II* Listed home. Chain House dates back to the 17th century and is located in the heart of Modbury, in the beautiful South Hams area of South Devon. Whether you're visiting Modbury for a particular event, for a relaxing short break in a beautiful area, for a family holiday close to Devon's stunning beaches, or for a more energetic outdoor holiday, Chain House provides the perfect venue for your stay.
Lou's family have lived in Chain House since 1960, and in recent years we have restored the house to make it both extremely comfortable and easy to live in, while at the same time retaining all of its original character, features and architectural integrity. At the back of the house, which dates back to Tudor times, we have created for our guests an entirely private and spacious self contained wing which overlooks, and is immediately adjacent to the lovely walled garden. - The guest wing is attached to the main body of the house but has its own entrance/front door from the garden side, it's own very well equipped kitchen/diner and an elegant and spacious drawing room. - There are three double bedrooms and altogether we can sleep up to eight people. On the top floor Bedroom One is a particularly gorgeous and huge room spanning the full length of the building. It has an ensuite bathroom, and a separate single bed as well as a king size bed, should it be needed for 'family' accommodation. Please note that due to architectural constraints this bedroom is not accessed via a conventional door, but has a heavy curtain at the bottom of its own staircase, separating it from the lower floor for privacy. Bedrooms Two and Three are on the first floor below. Bedroom Two is slightly larger with both a double and a single bed once again allowing for extra sleeping space. Bedroom Three has one double bed. These two bedrooms share a very well appointed bath/shower room. - TV, WiFi, Hairdryers, Tea/Coffee making facilities, are in all bedrooms. - Perfect for any guests - walkers, surfers, sailors, golfers, or just plain relaxing. Chain House offers space, warmth and comfort throughout the year, located in the heart of vibrant Modbury, yet providing a quiet haven of peace and tranquility. The surrounding countryside is stunning, designated an area of outstanding natural beauty, and the views from the house open across the rooftops to meadows beyond. It is perfect for small family gatherings, or groups of friends to relax and explore the area. MODBURY: Lying sandwiched in a hollow between the South Devon Coast and Dartmoor, rimmed by gently undulating hills and meadows, Modbury is a small and ancient market town. It has a long and interesting history. In the Civil War there were two battles in Modbury, and it has origins tracing back to the Saxons. The name Modbury derives from the Saxon 'Mootburgh' meaning 'meeting place.' The Modbury of today is very much a 'living' and vibrant small town, with a real community spirit and feel. It offers an excellent range of amenities including a diverse and interesting range of unique shops, pubs and restaurants, and most importantly the convenience of our Co-Op open every day until late. We even boast a thriving art gallery, featuring many new and exciting exhibitions throughout the year.
There are spectacular walks straight from the house, meandering through the surrounding hills and valleys. Within a short drive the splendours of Devon unfold. 300 miles of coastline, with Modbury itself lying approximately four miles from the nearest beach and the South West Coast Path. A few miles to the North you can visit and enjoy the craggy beauty of Dartmoor National Park. The area is particularly attractive for those who enjoy the outdoors, with a myriad of activities including sailing, surfing, riding, golf, and walking/hiking. Culture and history are incredibly rich and diverse in Devon. There are more National Trust properties than any other county, ranging from medieval cottages to the Lutyens' Castle Drogo, the last castle to be built in Britain. The South Hams has become a gastronomic destination in its own right, with local producers of cheeses, meat, fruit, vegetables and more recently wines as well, featuring prominently in our shops and restaurants. Visits to the Farmer's Market in Kingsbridge and the famous Markets in Totnes and Tavistock are a delight not to be missed. The wider area also boasts a growing number of Artists and Artisans, and there are regular exhibitions throughout the year. The annual 'Artists Open Studio' - with events taking place during September across Devon - makes for an enjoyable and often fascinating outing.
  • We had a lovely stay. The property is literally minutes from the local shops and pubs and Modbury itself is really well located to explore the local area. Lou was easy to communicate with and took the effort to make sure our arrival and check out was painless. I was there with my wife and two small kids but the house could easily accommodate a larger group. Thank you again!

  • Elegant, well equipped and spacious house in thriving little town with everything you need close by and easy access to coast and moors. Super well stocked and upmarket coop plus delis and cafes within few minutes walk. Perfect house for family or gatherings due to grand scale. Garden is delightfully pretty and sunny. Louise is charming as are her pets. WiFi and mobile coverage a little patchy at times if you are reliant on these.

  • Lovely relaxing house with plenty of space for adults and children, including a very well equipped kitchen. Welcoming and helpful host who offered great tips for the town and area. We’d definitely return on another trip to Devon!

At Apartment 16, Burgh Island Causeway guests enjoy: - a stunning dynamic view of Burgh Island from the balcony and window seat - being close to the beautiful sandy beach and sea - taking the sea tractor - relaxing in the swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi - water sports: surfing, paddle-boarding, kayaking - walking on the South West Coastal path - eating out at local restaurants - cooking in the modern fully-equipped kitchen - playing games and on the PlayStation - reading and watching DVDs
Apartment 16 is a beautifully designed and decorated first floor apartment. It has stunning views of Burgh Island and is in a fantastic spot for enjoying the glorious sunsets and dynamic tides. A luxurious base for exploring all that the area has to offer.
Bigbury-on-Sea is a magical setting in the beautiful South Hams with a tidal island across a sandy beach causeway. It is located on the South West Coastal path and in the heart of an area of outstanding natural beauty. The accommodation is part of a larger apartment complex, which includes a leisure club and restaurant.
  • Brilliant location, lovely apartment, fantastic for the beach and Burgh Island. Good tip is to have some groceries delivered on the day you arrive. You can hire a wetsuit from hire hut very close by and that makes November sea much more enjoyable. I enjoyed reading the book about the Burgh Island Hotel which was in the tea chest along with some maps and guidebooks. We really enjoyed playing Top Trumps and "Beat the Parents" which were in the sideboard!

    Claire2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved staying in this stylish and comfortable apartment in beautiful Bigbury-on-Sea. We love this area so much that this is our 6th holiday in the area and the third Burgh Island Causeway apartment we have sampled and yet I can confidently say Apartment 16 outshone all the others by excelling in every aspect. The Apartment is very beautifully and thoughtfully furnished and decorated, with lovely touches such as the lemon cake waiting for us, a Tassimo coffee machine which delighted my daughter, and a great range of beach equipment, board games, videos and books. The views of Burgh Island are stunning, what a pleasure to look out of the window and see the waves so close to the window and the awesome backdrop of Burgh Island hotel and the quirky sea tractor going to and from the island. The restaurant staff are really friendly and welcoming and the restaurant is a great option if you don't want to cook or go out in the car to eat. We hired Stand Up paddle boards and Sea Kayaks from Discovery Surf School which are conveniently located on the beach, as is the Beach Barista coffee seller and Venus Cafe. There are so many lovely places to explore nearby and whenever we came back to Apartment 16, we always felt we were coming back to a lovely and relaxing home. The owners were prompt and friendly in communicating to me about the booking and it was great to have a bit of flexibility about check in and out times. Thank-you so much for being great hosts and providing such a wonderful apartment to stay in - I cant wait to re-book again for next year!

    Krys2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Firstly - wow!! What a place and what a location! I honestly cannot recommend this apartment and its hosts highly enough. My partner and I have just got back from a week's stay here and we both agreed it is the best place we have ever stayed - in fact there were so many 'best evers' about this holiday and the apartment, that it is hard to know where to start. The communication from the hosts was clear, timely and friendly - they let us know the important bits and checked we were enjoying our stay without being OTT. We were greeted with the best cake my partner or I had ever tasted on arrival at the apartment (one of many lovely little touches) and, I don't say this lightly, but the views outdid the cake! For the whole week we couldn't get over the incredible view of the sea, the island and the beach, what's more the balcony looking out on to all of the above was heaven. The facilities were fantastic and having a good coffee (from the machine), or a smoothie (there is a smoothie maker) on the balcony, became a fave start to the day for us and the 2 great rainforest showers also helped set us up for the day. When we managed to drag ourselves away from the apartment, the beach (literally outside the apartment block) was fine, golden sand with crystal clear waters and we made the most of the local facilities that were all within a few meters of the apartment including watersports equipment hire, 3 cafes, a beach shop and a pub....oh yeh, and a sea tractor to get to the island (where the pub is) when the tide is in. This review could be quadruple the length if I mentioned all of the wonderful aspects of our stay, but, as well as the above, I will just list the remaining highlights that others may find useful - dishwasher, washing machine (with non-bio detergent), loads of games and dvds provided by hosts, outstandingly stylish and clean accommodation, locked secure parking, a chest of beach games, large flat screen tv in lounge and tv in bedrooms, spacious living space, pub on island does gluten free pizzas, coffee cart on beach does gluten free brownies, the café does gluten free brownie milkshakes (which were incredible). After longest review ever, all that's left to say is thank you to our hosts and that we will be booking again very soon after our incredible stay.

  • We arrived to a chocolate cake and sandcastle flags for the kids which was a lovely, unexpected treat. The view was incredible and everything we'd hoped for. We used the onsite gym and pool which were always empty. Kitchen was well stocked with quality utensils etc. The bedding and towelling was also good quality. The guest book was really helpful so lots of tips of places to visit. Definitely recommend.

  • This was our second holiday in Apartment 16, and it was just as good as we had remembered. An amazing location and a beautiful flat. The views are stunning and we really enjoyed the private cafe and pool, especially on days when it wasn’t warm enough to be out in the beach. A perfect break from City life, and great for young kids. Thanks again Chris and Tanya!
