Otter Bothy is a small, self contained cabin right on the banks of West Loch Roag, in the village of Carishader, perfectly situated for wildlife, fishing, walking, cycling, surfing and kayaking. Otter Bothy is situated beside Otter Bunkhouse, but offers private accommodation in a small but very cosy cabin, with spectacular views across West Loch Roag. Taigh Iomhair was originally a stone built thatched 'blackhouse'. It first appears on local historical records in 1814, but it is likely it was built in the latter half of the 18th century. The main structure of the house has not changed in over 200 years, but the property was internally refurbished in 2019, including new bathroom, kitchen, flooring and furnishings. The thatched roof was replaced many years ago, but the house still retains a character from a bygone crofting era.
