The Hayloft is part of a lovely Georgian farmstead set in lush arable countryside .Its oak beams and pretty interior make it a popular holiday destination. The elegant spa town of Harrogate is close as well as the medieval city of York.
The Hayloft, is on our Georgian farmstead, and has its own private entrance. The Hayloft overlooks the large pond and paddocks, so that our own animals , hens, ducks , sheep and donkeys can be seen as well as the wildlife that regular visits and included herons, canada geese, hedgehogs, owls and once a year some young roe deer in search of food. The hayloft provides a peaceful retreat, all year round.Step into the sitting room and you will be surrounded by atmosphere and comfort.During the day the sun streams through the double doors. Upstairs is the lovely oak beamed double bedroom, and shower room leading off from the bedroom. In the summer, the gardens can be enjoyed, and in the winter snuggle up around the cosy fire. The hayloft has been completely refurbished in November 2017, with new kitchen and shower room, cotton sheets and duvets, and fluffy towels. The hayloft is well equipped for eating in and you will find it a joy to prepare meals and to dine at the antique pine table with views over the pond and paddocks. There is a dishwasher and fridge with small freezer. Or you can dine out at one of the many cosy local village pubs ; visit the elegant spa town of Harrogate; see the historic city of York;enjoy a day at Fountains Abbey and deer park. The living area has a comfy 2 seater sofa and a top range electric stove with real effect flames, with an oak shelf over which is a flat screen wall mounted TV . We are at the gateway to the Yorkshire dales and great walking can be done either from the farm or a short car trip. Our visitors book has lots of ideas for days out.We are pet friendly but please see the house rules for extra charges.
  • We had a lovely stay at The Hayloft! Perfect little break away with our dogs in a gorgeous and secluded area, just what we needed! Plenty of fab dog walks nearby and the land which the Airbnb is on is just beautiful, will definitely be back again.

  • Spotlessly clean and comfortable. Easy to find, and the host provided lots of local and information to help us plan our activities.

  • Angela’s place was idyllic! Such a restful country retreat - cosy little cottage and beautiful grounds with hens and donkeys. Well located for Ripon and attractions of the Dales. Plenty of pubs and places to eat nearby. Would love to stay again sometime!

  • We really loved staying here, the place was cozy and the animals are very friendly

  • A lovely cosy cottage for a relaxing break. Good communication from the owner regarding directions and check-in instructions. Owner was really helpful when there was an issue with the heating and got it sorted straight away. Really useful information book left in the cottage which had loads of recommendations for places to eat. Good location with lots of things to do near by. We would love to return for another visit. Just a tip for anyone using satnav, we used google maps and if you type ‘Hayloft and Barn’ into the search it directed us straight to the cottage. Thank you for a lovely stay!

    Laura2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the hayloft. Everything was very well thought out; from the shampoo and conditioner in the shower, to the binder that provided us with an array of places to visit and restaurants to eat at. The property was beautiful and the location was right around the corner from town. Angela was there to greet us upon arrival and was incredibly warm and friendly. The hayloft in itself was warm and homey as well. Angela did an exceptional job and providing the perfect little escape for a weekend get away, would highly recommend a stay at the pottery Lane farm.

  • Best find yet on AirBnB. Beautiful property in a lovely spot. Michelle was the perfect host. Incredible hospitality.

    James2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Tanyard barn was beautiful and in an amazing location. Michelle thought about all the small details and made that extra effort to make our stay great.

    Bryony2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed over the Christmas period, was a lovely place with gorgeous views. Barn was spotless when we arrived and decorated lovely. Nice big spacious rooms and was provided with all kitchen utensils needed to cook a christmas dinner. Had a minor problem with heating but Michelle answered our questions quickly and efficiently and handled the situation really well. Would definitely stay again and our young boy loved it!

    Hayley2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • The Tanyard Barn was an absolutely brilliant place to stay and at a great price. Michelle was more than helpful during our stay and was on hand to offer help should we have needed it. The barn was beautifully decorated and clean, and the shower was amazing! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I would highly recommend it to others. Thanks again to Michelle!

  • This place is one for the great place to stay good value for money

    Sitticheep2019-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I spent two nights in the barn with our three month old son. The barn is very well equipped , it had everything that we needed for our stay. The barn itself is very beautiful and well situated for access to Harrogate, York and the Yorkshire Dales. Michelle is a very thoughtful host; communication was faultless; the barn was spotless; and the extra touches - breakfast, toiletries, games, Netflix - were appreciated. All-in-all a very pleasurable stay which I would highly recommend to anybody thinking of visiting the area.

A completely self contained and private space in which to unwind. Quality vintage bed linen, towels and gowns are provided, as are basic ingredients for home cooking, garlic, herbs etc. Organic produce from the vegetable garden are available when there is a glut.
This is a unique opportunity to stay in our vintage showman's van set in mature gardens. It is a self contained open plan space consisting of a large double bed, a dining and sitting area, and a fully equipped kitchen with gas oven. The loo with hand wash basin and towel are in a separate hut beside the caravan. There is an outside cast iron bath in a secluded area nearby, heated with a wood burner. A supply of firewood is provided. There is a wood burning stove in the caravan, and we will ensure a good supply of dry firewood for your use. However, those wishing to use the bath more than once will have to gather their own firewood. You can of course bring your own wood supply if you prefer. Linen sheets, towels and bathrobes are provided. Fresh breakfast food is supplied. Requests for special dietary needs can be met if forewarned. There is ample parking space next to the caravan. There is a radio and ( rather patchy) internet connection but no television. Visitors are welcome to bring their dog, but only I dog at a time as the space is limited.
The village lies midway between the Yorkshire Dales and the Hambleton Hills and Moors, ("the Golden Triangle.") Leeds, Harrogate, Ripon and Thirsk are all within easy reach. There are two pubs in the village, both serve meals during the daytime and evening. The New Inn in the next village, Tholthorpe, also serves evening meals, and has a newly installed wood fired pizza oven. There is a small shop/deli in the village which has a wide range of interesting fresh food. Borobridge and Easingwold are only 5 miles distant, where all you could need is available. This is a walker's paradise with many historic buildings, abbeys and castles to visit within a radius of 20 miles. (Castle Howard, Fountains Abbey, Newby Hall, Benningborough Hall, to name but a few) Fishing in the River Swale is popular, and day tickets can be obtained in the village. There are several good golf courses in the vicinity. As the immediate area is relatively flat being in the river valley, it is great for cycling,
  • Lovely hosts, beautiful location, much hugger than expected. A proper home from home with the added novelty of an outside bath.... Which is an absolute must. Would recommend to friends and family

    Liz2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We would highly recommend this Airbnb. We had an amazing couple of nights. The caravan is very special and the outdoor bath was lovely even mid February! There were so many lovely touches! Thankyou so much for hosting us

    Carrie2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • What a place!! The caravan was so cosy even through the storm. The bath was quite the experience, but one that has to be tried. The two dogs were our new best friends and Maggie was very welcoming! So nice to get away from it all, highly recommended

    Amy2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant place to stay nice and cosy

    Daniel2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely and peaceful stay, thank you!

    Greg2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • The showman caravan is a fantastically unique place to stay. The log burning in the caravan made it super cozy and the outdoor was an amazing experience. Cannot recommend enough!

    Holly2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • If you want a quiet break away from it all, somewhere with real character and gracious hosts, we cannot recommend Maggie's place highly enough. Maggie, Humph and the dogs are lovely, attentive to your needs, while also giving you your privacy. The caravan is cosy but spacious enough for two to relax without getting under each other's feet, and while there is an electric heater, the wood burner gives it so much more character and ensures you'll be super snug even in the October rain. We'd also recommend making use of the outdoor shower and bath, even if the weather seems inclement. There was something truly magical about sitting back in a steaming hot candle lit bath in beautiful surroundings with cool rain pattering down through the tree canopy above.

    Eddy2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • What an incredible space. Perfect getaway for some peace and quiet, and to enjoy the quirky features that are on offer. Maggie was great and very accommodating. We loved the 'back to basics' charm of the place and wouldn't hesitate to go back again.

A great house in a great space! The cottage is deep-cleaned with anti-viral cleaner after every stay and offers fabulous, stress-free opportunity for getting out and walking in good clean air in beautiful countryside. Spacious, three-bedroom cottage set in beautiful Nidderdale countryside, very close to Harrogate, York and Leeds. Set on a working smallholding, with pigs, hens, guinea fowl and peafowl. Ideal for families, and for local trips and days out in York, Harrogate and the Dales.
What makes Carr Farm Cottage is the utter serenity and beauty of location, and the fact that it is on a 10-acre working smallholding. You can mingle with pigs, chickens, guinea fowl, peafowl, dogs and cats. But at the same time we are so convenient for Harrogate, Leeds and York
Nidderdale is the forgotten dale--just as beautiful as the rest of the Yorkshire Dales, but classified as as the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (NAONB). Harrogate is very close by for shopping, a fabulous range of restaurants and cafes (including Betty's), Harlow Carr RHS and loads of other facilities. But then there is also Pateley Bridge up the dale, which is a gem of a small Dales Market town, Brimham Rocks, Fountains Abbey (a World Heritage site), Stump Cross Caverns and much more. All this within a radius of 10 miles! York and Leeds are less than an hour's drive (or train from Harrogate) away, and are great shopping centres. York is a hugely impressive place to visit with lots of history and culture. York Minster is a must-see and there are some wonderful museums and it is just a wonderful place to wander around, with tiny medieval streets and Roman city walls still intact in many places.
  • We had a great stay in this very quiet & peaceful cottage. Loved all the nick knacks which made it feel so homely.

  • This is a great place - lovely farm setting, close to Harrogate, very comfortable, clean, warm and nicely furnished. Beds v comfortable too. Great to have very tame peacocks and guinea fowl walking around outside too. Helen’s hospitality, rapid communication and helpfulness was much appreciated.

    Bruce2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, clean cottage with plenty of information about places to visit locally. Communication was excellent and Helen was very lovely, she even went as far as posting my daughters doll back to us before we noticed we had left it. The birds walking around the garden were lovely and my children especially loved the resident peacocks. Even though the weather was terrible we really enjoyed our stay.

    Gemma2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely warm cosy cottage. Very homely. It kept out the wet and windy Yorkshie weather.

    Rachael2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed staying at this lovely cottage, the views are fabulous, and the location is perfect. The cottage had everything we needed for our stay. Helen was incredibly welcoming and supportive.

  • Helen's place was a wonderful stay for our family get together! The place was beautifully situated in the countryside & having the animals around outside really added to it! The place that everything we needed & it was really lovely to have arrived to an already warm house, especially in February!

    Bethan2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is spacious, clean, well equipped. Lots of lovely walks and places to visit locally, but also a snug and relaxing place to be on a rainy day. Thanks so much Helen for a very special weekend.

  • Helen's property is lovely. Downstairs is very spacious, the house is warm and cosy and there are lots of little touches that make this a wonderful home from home. The views are spectacular and with close proximity to Harrogate as well, it's a fantastic location. Would definitely return here!

  • Valarie was a great host - anything we needed she was there at the end of a message. The property is beautiful, warm and clean. It’s slightly smaller than expected but still spacious. The sofas could be slightly bigger and comfier but overall we cannot fault the cottage or our stay! Thanks Valerie, would definitely recommend to others for a short getaway!

    Nora2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Charming cottage beautifully decorated and equipped, on a quiet road just outside the centre of Ripon but within 15 minutes walk. The front bedroom with tip-top double bed is a good size, nicely furnished and with nice touches eg mirrors and somewhere to sit and dry your hair, and looks out over a lovely calm rural view. By contrast the back bedroom feels cramped, with the two single beds filling virtually all the available space leaving no room for one’s bags or clothes, or even any room to side the cushions or the throws from the beds. There is a chest of drawers outside the room on the landing though. The single beds are also very comfortable. The wood burning stove was great. A basket of kindling and logs is included and more are available on site at £5 per bag. We enjoyed our three nights at the cottage and the homely feel of the place. Valerie is a friendly and responsive host, replying quickly to any queries. We recommend Mad Hatters Cottage to other airbnb-ers.

  • You could not find a more beautiful location to stay. The cottage was a perfect base and was exactly what was needed. To come back from a hike and get the log burner going was lovely.

    Francis2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at Peters place in Grewelthorpe over Christmas. As has been mentioned in previous reviews, the cottage is indeed basically in the pub car park, but this was not a problem during our stay. We were never disturbed by anyone using the pub. The cottage was fine for us and everything was functioning as it should. We would certainly stay here again.

  • I loved the look of this place on the Air BNB website but pictures can’t do it justice, it’s beautiful! As soon as i arrived i was greeted by Sarah who made me feel very welcome, I had some work to do that evening so she lit a fire for me in the front room and offered tea and coffee. The room was great, very clean and i loved the original decor! I would recommend this gem to anyone that is looking to stay in the area, i will definitely stay again when i’m next that way! Dan

A quirky 3 storey Cottage, forming part of a historic Grade II Listed Building, set in the heart of one of the smallest Cathedral Cities in England. Perfect for an overnight stop if you are travelling north or south on the A1M as within 10 minutes of Junction 50.
The cottage is on the main access route into the City’s Market Place and within a short stroll of all central shops, restaurants, museums, Spa Gardens and the magnificent Cathedral. The Curzon Cinema is directly opposite and we are ideally located for an overnight stay combined with a visit to Yorkshire’s Garden Racecourse. For cyclists, the cottage is on the route of the Tour de Yorkshire and UCI events. Conveniently located for access to Harrogate, the Yorkshire Dales, Thirsk and the World of James Herriot, Pateley Bridge, Masham and York.
Set in the heart of this historic Cathedral City, Ripon’s numerous facilities, amenities and shopping are within a short stroll.
  • Lovely quirky little AirBnB, a really old building with wonky floors, low ceilings and uneven stairs! Brilliant situation with the centre of Ripon on the doorstep. The parking space round the back meant that after we had arrived we never even moved the car.

  • Perfect place for a stay in Ripon - great central location and it's been refurbished to a high standard. Excellent communication from Linda.

    Chris2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous flat hosted by two wonderful people! Great location and perfectly clean.

    Kimberly2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Linda's place was lovely. Really nice character across the 3 floors, and plenty of space. It was all very new and sparkling clean. Linda was very helpful and friendly and she met me to show me round. She even made sure to leave an emergency lamp and showed me where the fuse box was incase the storm cut the power as potentially forecast. I slept great, and the rain hitting the floor in the loft conversion didn't even disturb me.

    Jasmine2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Linda's place was in a perfect location with private parking. Five minutes' walk to good pubs restaurants and cafes. The place was very cozy and warm and the bed was so comfy. It had a great shower and everything you could possibly need for a good holiday. The area also has a great atmosphere. Shame we couldn't stay longer but definitely on the cards for the future.

  • Lovely little gem in the middle of Ripon.

    Rowan2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Charming & quirky cottage bang in the centre of historic Ripon. We were met by Del who reccomended a lovely pub, restaurants and a walk around the city. The cottage is lovely and recently re-furbished and the bed is very comfortable. A point to note are that the stairs are very steep, not surprising for a house this age but less able people would find this difficult, there is also some noise from the road which may be an issue for the light sleeper but I slept like a log. We loved our stay and throughly reccomend Linda & Del's cottage.

Located on the cusp of iconic UNESCO World Heritage Site Fountains Abbey and a short walk away from the historic cathedral City of Ripon, our 150 year-old cosy, characterful cottage is an ideal base to explore these unique surroundings. Our cute, quiet village is also a short drive away from the pretty market towns of Masham, Bedale and Pateley Bridge and the spa town of Harrogate. We'd love to make this an idyllic and relaxing escape for you. We hope to see you soon at Bumblebee Cottage!
Our cottage is split into two areas: the original 1800s cottage and the contemporary living space. You'll be staying in the main cottage, which includes a master bedroom for two (with a view!), and a large bathroom . The cosy lounge is also part of the old cottage, which you are welcome to use to unwind in front of the log fire with a glass of Yorkshire wine! And of course (weather permitting!) please do make use of our lovely garden. We also share our space with an adorable cockapoo called Gracie. She can be as out of your way as you prefer. Visiting dogs are very welcome.
You really can't stay any closer to Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Gardens & Deer Park. We're right on the doorstep! (Our cottage used to be where they'd keep the horses for the estate!) Ripon City is a 25 minute walk away, or a short drive. It's got an excellent Thursday market, various museums and of course the stunning Cathedral. It also has a great range of places to eat and some lovely traditional Yorkshire pubs. Our little village of Studley Roger is very small and quiet. There's no shops or pubs but our closest cafe is on the lake in the Deer Park, for a quick butty, coffee and cake.
  • Lovely house in a brilliant location. Hosts couldn't do enough from responding to messages, easy check in and anything they could do to help with our trip. Thank you!

    Livvy2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • I booked this stay for my Mum's birthday as my parents are avid Park Runners. This cottage is literally a 5 minute walk from the Fountains Abbey Park Run start line so was ideal! My mum and dad said that they had a really lovely time at the cottage. They arrived late-ish on the Friday night and shared a glass of wine with the hosts to unwind after the drive. They said that they felt totally at home and found everything to be super clean and comfortable. Their only regret is that they didn't book to stay another night after the Park Run! They'll just have to go back again :)

Healthy generous breakfast provided, tea and home made cakes on arrival. Hot drinks facilities in all rooms and a very warm welcome to all visitors.
We have beautiful countryside on one side of the house and easy access to Ripon on the other. Our rooms are spacious and light, one with king size bed, another having a double bed, plus a large single/twin/triple bedded/ king size bedroom with ensuite power shower room. • Somewhat new to Air B &B but found Philippa's hospitality exceptional. We were suffering jet lag and she made our one night visit so welcoming.

  • Three friends arrived by bicycle at Phillipa’s after a long and very damp day in the hills. Uncertain arrival time wasn’t an issue and Phillipa kindly offered to wash our kit ready for the next day-ideal for touring cyclists with minimal packing. Breakfast was good and set us up for the next day. Location was ideal with a short walk to town and its bars and restaurants

  • Phillipa was certainly a super-host, contacting me before my stay with useful information, welcoming me warmly on my arrival, and very kindly accompanying me on my first walk into Ripon in order to show me the pleasant route along the canal path. She provided healthy and delicious breakfasts, featuring excellent coffee and freshly-prepared fruit salads. I very much enjoyed our conversations, and will certainly be back next time I visit Ripon!

  • Accurately described and a great location for its proximity to central Ripon and more widely for this beautiful part of Yorkshire. Tempted to say it should remain a well-kept secret, but then you would miss out on the comfort and generosity of Phillipa’s hosting. A truly great ambassador for Ripon and the wider area.

    Helen2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Phillipa was an excellent host - we enjoyed tea with delicious cake on arrival, delicious breakfasts, very comfortable rooms and lots of useful information and guidance.

  • I can highly recommend staying here to anyone looking for a quiet, clean, comfortable and friendly place to stay. Phillipa was an outstanding host and could not do enough to help us out. Phillipa was very accommodating and welcomed us into her lovely home whilst keeping great communication through out. It made our work trip much easier and took the stress out of having to stay in a hotel. We will definitely be visiting again should work bring us up that way. Her genuine friendliness shone through and I slept better there than I do at home. Once again thank you Phillipa for a great stay and for helping us out.

Recently refurbished, this cosy and well-lit apartment is based in the heart of Ripon. A stone's throw away from the city centre, with access to all local amenities, this property is the perfect city getaway in the middle of North Yorkshire's countryside. Cathedral View is a lovely modern apartment, in the Borough of Harrogate, which has been newly renovated to a high standard with modern furnishings and chic interiors. There are 2 double bedrooms, one can be made up as a double or 2 singles.
The apartment is light filled and airy making it a great place to relax when you are not out and about exploring. The open plan living area, with log wood burner and smart tv with Netflix, with a brand new open plan kitchen with dining table. The bathroom has a large bath tub, with shower facilities. Recently refurbished, all upholstery & appliances are brand new and chosen especially for the property to suit guests requirements.
The beautiful cathedral city of Ripon is one of the oldest cities in England, and one of the country''s smallest. It’s strategic rural location makes it the ideal cottage holiday location; close to the famous Yorkshire Dales, stunning Nidderdale and the lovely spa town of Harrogate. The city is centred around Market Square, around which there’s a wide range of speciality shops, cafes, restaurants and traditional pubs. This unspoilt cathedral city is a North Yorkshire gem, balancing a rich cultural heritage with exciting contemporary living. With its imposing cathedral, fascinating museums and a bustling market square, there is plenty to entertain the visitor. And skip just 10 miles in any direction and you'll discover a wealth of first class visitor attractions in the surrounding beautiful Dales countryside. Daniel Defoe described Ripon Market Square as 'the finest and most beautiful square that is to be seen of its kind in England'. Today the square remains the heart and soul of Ripon, proudly retaining its tradition of the hornblower who can be found 'setting the watch' every evening around 9pm - a delightful example of this city's ancient charm. When it comes to location, Ripon has it all. Easily accessible from the A1(M), it has a privileged aspect right in between the Yorkshire Dales and the North Yorks Moors. As well as being the gateway to beautiful countryside, Fountains Abbey and Studely Royal - Yorkshire's first World Heritage Site - is right on its doorstep, and it's a mere 10 miles from Ripley Castle and the exciting the Lightwater Valley theme park. The jewel in Ripon's crown must surely be the 7th Century Ripon Cathedral. Dominating the city's skyline, this magnificent building is totally inspiring. It provides sanctuary on a rainy day and is a beautiful focal point as you stroll the city's streets and relax in one of many award-winning cafés.

  • We’d loved staying at David and Janet’s place. It’s a beautiful, spacious cottage, full of lovely touches - we loved Janet’s lemon drizzle cake. Great communication, friendly hosts and idillic location. We couldn’t haven’t asked for anything more. We’d definitely recommend to anyone looking to explore the Yorkshire Dales.

  • The cottage is luxurious and cozy- especially the log burner! The linen and towels are all lovely and soft, and the kitchen and bathroom seemed like they were brand new. The welcome basket was a very thoughtful touch. Would highly recommend!

  • What more can we say about this place that hasn’t been said by everyone else that stays here. We didn’t get to meet the hosts but they were incredibly friendly and informative in communication and the cake and birthday beer were fantastic touches. The village is lovely and only 10 minute drive from Ripon. The place itself is beautiful, very clean with games and puzzles provided for rainy days and maps and guides giving lots of information on the area. Had everything you could possibly need in the kitchen with detailed instructions on how to use everything. Really can’t recommend these hosts and this property enough!

Carpenter's Cottage is a cosy friendly place for a relaxing weekend or longer to explore Ripon. Hidden in a secret garden, but right in centre of this charming market town, my cottage is surrounded by the Cathedral, cafes, shops, museums, cinema and restaurants. The large and secluded garden offers you great views to the nearby village of Sharow, it’s difficult to believe you are in the middle of town! Parking around the corner, easy loading and unloading is available in front of our house!
The Carpenter's Cottage was part of the joinery which was based here for many generations. What is left is a very private cosy cottage, with a great kitchen (fully equipped with dishwasher, induction hub, micro-wave, grill and oven). You could not imagine it is in the centre of Ripon as it is so quiet! Our great garden is about 1/3 acre. Lovely walks along the banks of the rivers Laver, Skell and the Ure are nearby and the cathedral is a short stroll away.
How would you like to take a stroll through a charming, unspoiled, characterful city, where ancient buildings and traditions mingle with a wonderful selection of independent shops and restaurants serving locally-produced food and great coffee? If your answer is yes, then why not visit Ripon today! A unique historic market town, nestled in the heart of North Yorkshire, Ripon boasts splendid Georgian architecture and a cathedral dating back to the Saxon era. Situated where the Rivers Laver and Skell meet the River Ure, between the A1 and the Yorkshire Dales National Park, it is known as the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales. Ripon’s Market Place has flourished for over 800 years and remains at its heart, a hub for all sorts of activities and bringing people together. The days of cattle and corn markets may be long gone, but the Market Place continues to be at the centre of contemporary shopping and is a great starting point for exploring the city. With river walks where you can take in unspoiled views, Thursday market day, the ancient cathedral, the Victorian Workhouse Museum and the ever-popular Ripon Racecourse, to name but a few attractions, there is much for the visitor to enjoy. For those wishing to venture slightly further afield, the UNESCO World Heritage Site at Fountains Abbey, the historic splendour of Newby Hall and the moated medieval manor house at Markenfield Hall are only a stone’s throw away. A great place to visit or to stay for a while, Ripon has more to offer than you thought!
  • Lovely place and lovely host.

    Cristina2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We booked Carpenters Cottage as our base in Ripon and are so glad we did. We were part of a larger group, travelling up from Berkshire to attend a friend’s wedding at Ripon Cathedral. We didn’t fancy a hotel stay and were so happy to find an AirB&B property so close by. Communication before our stay was brilliant. Francesca, the host, is lovely and gave us a little tour of the property on arrival to make sure we knew how to operate the heating, fire etc. She also very kindly gave us some eggs from her chickens (that we completely forgot about! Sorry, Francesca!). The Carpenters Cottage was small but perfectly formed. The lounge was cosy comfortable and the kitchen was really well equipped. The shower room was light and the rainforest-style shower was good (although could have been more powerful). The bedroom was nice and dark and the bed was really comfortable - we both slept well. Check out was easy - Francesca was available on text messages to answer any queries. We’re so pleased we chose to stay at Carpenters Cottage. Our only regret is we couldn’t stay longer!

    Kate2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Carpenter’s cottage is cosy and charming. The pictures on the website underestimate the ambience created within this delightful cottage. Francesca has anticipated all your needs and the cottage is well equipped with high quality goods throughout.

Cotters House is a quaint cottage located in the Magna Carta village of Topcliffe. The space is cosy but large enough to comfortably fit four, with many amenities provided. The cottage has been refurbished to meet the needs of modern day life, with WiFi and Freeview TV, but still features traditional aspects such as exposed beams and wood floors. It benefits from central heating, instant hot water and now has a new HETAS approved wood burning stove, perfect for relaxing nights in by the fire!
Set back from the road, the cottage has a private entrance and parking space. There is a garden and patio area to the rear of the property, with a large weather proof lockable store that is ideal for safe, dry storage of bicycles/sports equipment. We provide guests with fire lighters, matches and the all important, high quality, kiln-dried logs to enjoy those cosy nights in. We also provide you with some breakfast essentials - bread, milk, orange juice, butter, jam, six eggs, cornflakes, bananas and apples.
The village is lucky to have two great pubs - The Angel and The Swan, both providing good pub grub. There is also the Crab and Lobster for finer dining, about a 10 minute walk towards Asenby, from the cottage. We are in the prime position for access to towns and cities of North Yorkshire, as well as the stunning East Coast and are close to many great cycling routes, as used in Le Grand Depart of Le Tour de France in 2014, Le Tour de Yorkshire and the UCI World Road Cycling Championships of 2019. Though we hope we will have provided amenities required, there is a Post Office shop across the road in case you require anything else. Topcliffe itself has a lot to be explored (such as a motte-and-bailey castle) and so do the surrounding areas!
  • One night stay. Was in a great location friendly hosts. Place as described lovely character house. Would come again.

  • Lynn's home was beautiful - it was exactly what we needed! Lynn has it stocked with all the extra touches (tea, coffee, shampoo etc) so we didn't even need to bring loads in from the car! I would highly recommend! Thank you Lynn!

    Jessica2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Lynn's cottage was the perfect stay for us. The location was spot on as i was visiting nearby Masham and my companion visited Ripon we also noted there were many other local attractions within close proximity. the flat was spacious and sparkling clean, with many extra touches like fresh flowers little toiletries, leaflets on nearby places and delicious home made scones. The Furnishings were comfortable with plenty of extra bedding and blankets should we have become cold. As it happened even in March the cottage was a lovely warm temperature. The bathroom was very modern with a low-level shower tray great for those with mobility problems. the kitchen was compact with a microwave, fridge freezer and portable hob. it was well stocked with lots of jams, cereal, milk, bread, butter, tea and coffee. Lynn herself was a wonderful host, quick to communicate and easily accessible through our stay and nothing was too much. she has put a great deal of thought into her letting and added many additional touches and has great plans for the summer months for sharing her stunning garden. i would definitely recommend a stay here for a couple who want to visit a little Yorkshire village and use it as a base to explore the wonderful local countryside and villages. Thank you Lynn we will be back

    Cathy2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Mill End is as delightful as it is depicted in the listing. Lynn is as perfect an AirBnB host as she is painted in the reviews and all the good things mentioned in those reviews are correct. Wholeheartedly recommended.

    Mel2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place with a lovely view, and Lynn is a lovely welcoming women who has put beautiful touches to the place that make you feel so at peace, it’s just beautiful 💫🙌🤍

    Cheryl2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Mill End is a beautiful house, and Lynn’s attention to detail and level of hospitality are outstanding. We enjoyed her very warm welcome, and also the chance to look round her stunning garden. From the red roses and welcome note to the very comfortable bed, Lynn has thought of everything for her guests. The breakfast was way beyond our expectation, with 4 different cereals + porridge , different breads and just so many preserves it was impossible to choose. Add to that fresh fruit and yoghurt and we went out each day on very full stomachs! Every home comfort was in this lovely suite, and it is without doubt the best Airbnb we have found. We shall be back. Thank you, Lynn.

    Janet2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Comfy suite , big bathroom, great little kitchen , lovely touches like breakfast and scones etc Lynn is lovely, great host 😁

    Louise2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • I found another gem of a place. I keep finding these outstanding places and my stay is far too short. From the lovely Lynn who hosts the accomodation to all the extra touches that must come from precious experience in the hospitality trade as I didn't find anything I could have suggested to add. The place was one of the cleanest if not the cleanest places I've stayed. The bed was comfy...I slept better than I have for a while. The breakfast was yummy and more than enough. I wish I could have stayed more than one night to explore the local area more but I will definitely return if Lynn will have me. A great place well above many I've stayed in and no suggestions on this one.

The fire is great after a days walking, the kitchen facilities are perfect and the local shop and butchers are great for everything you could need. The owners gave us advice and help about walks and printed maps which was a really nice touch. Friendly and hospitable people who clearly care about what they are doing. Would recommend this cottage to anyone as offers comfort and a wonderful location for walks and the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside.

  • Outstanding! Had the best time during our 3 day New Years Stay at Woodpeckers Cottage. It is truly a home from home with every comfort considered and spotlessly clean. I couldn't think if a single thing that any guest could need that wasn't included. Fiona & Nigel have thought of everything. The homemade mince pies and cake was a lovely welcoming touch as well as the many additional extras in the kitchen incl milk, butter, condiments, oil, fresh eggs, tea, coffee etc. Add to that a cosy log burner, Netflicks on TV, comfy bed, near to many fabulous locations with hosts that go the extra mile for their guests. What else could anyone want? We could not recommend Woodpecker Cottage too highly and will definately be returning!

    Gary2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay here - Fiona's cottage is a beautiful, cosy space for a couple to stay. She had left us some christmas cake, mince pies and tea ready for when we arrived, which was such a nice way to arrive. Thank you!

An oak framed loft apartment is above a large garage which is accessed by stairs with balcony for tree level seating. The space is not attached to our house and has separate access. The pitched roof gives the apartment a feeling of space and light. with underfloor heating. The outside space is ideal if you want some fresh air. We are in a rural location. We would welcome all visitors.
I am afraid we do not accept dogs here. We have dogs ourselves and love them, but having hens and sheep I have to consider their welfare too.
Located 4 miles from Masham and 4 miles from Ripon, 2 miles from Kirkby Malzeard and 2 miles from Grewelthorpe all with Pubs and other amenities although there are no pubs in walking distance. Details are available for a reliable taxi.
  • Jo’s place is lovely, a stylish, modern apartment on the peaceful farm. Very clean and comfortable, loved the fresh eggs from the farm. I’ll definitely be back.

  • Chequer Barn Apartment is a terrific place to stay. Jo is a helpful host who responded promptly and helpfully to questions. The location is outstanding in the Yorkshire Dales and near to local towns like Masham. The apartment itself is outstanding, clean, spacious and like a home from home.

Market view looks over the ancient and attractive market square with its old buildings and areas of interest. It is central for hotels, shops and scenic walks. You’ll love Market view because it is spacious, well equipped and has a lovely atmosphere. There are a combination of small shops, offering art, clothing, and souvenirs. There is a great selection of hotels, pubs and tearooms. There is an excellent range of local food shops. Many scenic walks are on the doorstep. Babies welcome.
It is a large studio apartment on the ground floor. The king size bed is separated from the lounge. There is a separate kitchen and a separate bathroom. The bath has a shower over it.
It is a lovely and friendly place to live. Everything required to relax, be occupied or to eat well is available in this market town. It is very old and the buildings are beautiful.
  • Amazing, perfectly located in the village. The flat is spotlessly clean and has everything you need and more. Cant recommend this place enough

  • Had a great stay at Sue's place, absolutely ideal location for walking, eating and drinking. Lovely to have a pint of milk already in the fridge and welcoming cake etc. Just the the job for a few day's away

    Adrian2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful! Sue thought of everything. Being from Florida, I appreciated the extra blankets everywhere! We stayed here specifically because it was close to Black Sheep brewery, however, we didn’t know it was in the middle of the market square! It was a pleasant surprise! Lots of parking with a honesty box, warm blankets, comfortable bed, what else can you ask for? Thank you Sue! :)

    Cindy2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • A great little find in a really good location. Clean and comfortable, with everything you need. The little touches like milk for a cuppa and biscuits were a really nice touch, thank you

  • Great little one level cottage. Surprisingly spacious. Everything was there that we needed. Superb location

  • Lovey spacious accommodation, great location !

    Melanie2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We really loved our stay at Sue's place! It was lovely and cosy and we loved the thoughtful touches like the biscuits Sue left for us and the daffodils. It was also really useful to have some local tips regarding the local shops and pubs and walk suggestions! We went to all 4 pubs which were all brilliant and friendly and we had a gorgeous meal at the White Bear. On our first night we had fish and chips from just next door!! It was a shame that the market wasnt on Saturday morning due to the weather but we enjoyed all of the quirky shops in the area. We also visited the Black Sheep Brewery which we found really interesting and we had a delicious lunch there! We only stayed a couple of days but felt very much at home and wished we could have stayed longer! Would definitely recommend!

    Eleanor2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed a second night as Sue's apartment and it's location were what we needed to explore the area.

  • This is a simply wonderful AirBnb. The accommodation is superb - spacious, modern, generous facilities, tastefully decorated and with beautiful views. Sarah and Richard are excellent, friendly and unobtrusive hosts. Great place for exploring local walks.

    amanda2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic three night stay in the cottage. It is a great space to stay - even better than the photos suggest. We had a hit of terrible weather, and it was great to be able to come home to the fireplace. Sarah and her husband were very welcoming and helped us out with any issues straight away. There’s a woodland beyond the castle (view from the window) which is really nice and has a network of walking tracks in it. Can’t recommend this place enough, we’ll happily come back.

I have enjoyed staying here a number if times as it has everything you need for a night or longer stay neatly contained in the cottage. Plenty of leaflets for suggestions of where to visit, breakfast box & tea, & extra little touches like the occasional home made edible treat or flower display. Flexible, helpful & thoughtful host.

It was absolutely freezing when we stayed but the cottage was nice and warm and it was very relaxing having the electric fire on in the bedroom looking out at the frost outside.
