Family-friendly holiday rentals in Staunton

this cabin was a gem! Just what I was looking for. My fiancee father lives in Luray and we wanted to surprise him and come down for father's day, but I also wanted a romantic, remote getaway for us. this was perfect! we surprised his dad, were able to spend time with him in Luray, but still had a beautiful cabin to retreat to, with a hot tub! And our dog was very welcomed. I loved the little added touches!

We had a really nice time at the cabin. Everything was laid out very nicely and was ready for us the moment we arrived. The space is beautiful and right on the lake. It was extremely peaceful to sit in the large screened deck and hang out with the stunning lake in view. Hope to stay here again some day!

We were looking for a cabin, hoping to find a quiet place to rest, relax and recharge in nature. We never dreamed that we would find an authentic 18th century cabin located in the forest on a mountain top - with an excellent view of the surrounding mountains. The inside of the cabin was beautifully furnished as would be expected in colonial Virginia. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend the experience of stepping back in time.

The only part of the stay that didn't get 5 stars was that it wasn't quite as secluded as I'd hoped for. There are a number of homes on the road to the cabin, and a thin line of trees breaks the view. Admittedly unless you're looking for the other houses you don't notice them, so I got past that quickly enough. That said, the cabin was perfect, clean, cozy and everything worked as stated. Having grown up in the country, but living in a city now, I felt the stress melt away as soon as I stepped into the massive yard where my son and I spent a lot of time playing soccer and other sports. My son and wife really enjoyed the hot tub. The location is 15 minutes away from Luray which meant that the stars were amazing for the brief break in the clouds we got, but that it was close enough to get groceries and take out as needed. Plus it's about 20 minutes away from Front Royal so there are places to go and enjoy like Skyline or Luray Caverns. Jackie was a great and responsive host!

First of all, Kate is a fantastic hostess. She was very accommodating, welcoming and communicative. I greatly appreciated her hospitality. The property is gorgeous and peaceful. It is like a peaceful spa oasis home away from home. You can find comfort in every room. The hot tub is glorious to soak in while staring at the nighttime sky or for watching the sunset. There is practically no light or noise pollution. You can hear the creek down the hill flowing. Most of your neighbors are cows grazing in a field down the drive or an adorable family of foxes on the property. It is a perfect spot to just get away, relax and enjoy a natural setting tucked away in a hillside. Kate has mindfully ensured guests have almost anything you may need to prepare meals in the kitchen. Also plenty of towels and linens. You are about a 15-20 minute drive away from everything C-Ville has to offer. Perfect distance to have access to all you may need and to have peace and quiet. Truly a wonderful spot.

This cabin and location were as peaceful and relaxing as they come! It’s close to Shenandoah National Park if you’re looking for some hikes or other outdoor activities, but it’s a perfect place to just hang out in nature and relax. We did not want to leave and can’t wait to go back!

This place in the mountains is BEAUTIFUL! I wanted to stay longer. I was there for my graduation from Liberty University. It was about an hour away, but it worked for me because the property was large enough to house all of my family and friends. Jennifer was VERY responsive. The kitchen was amazing. There is a Food Lion about 6 minutes away down the hill, and restaurants. My grandsons and niece loved the outdoor play area. My husband loved the fire pit. I loved sitting on the porch on the swing. Patricia was an amazing hostess. Very gracious made it a home away from home. It was hard to leave for our concert nearby. Very relaxing cabin,we even slept very well there. Normally we don’t sleep well when we are away from home.

Our family of three had a wonderful stay at this charming cabin! It was the perfect mix of peaceful and fun—the setting by the river is incredibly relaxing, and our child absolutely loved watching the horses and exploring the open space. The cabin was spacious, very clean, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, including a fully stocked kitchen and cozy common areas. We spent our mornings sipping coffee on the porch, took easy day trips into Lexington, and enjoyed quiet evenings by the fireplace. If you’re looking for a family-friendly retreat surrounded by nature and animals, this place is a gem. We’d definitely come back!

We enjoyed star gazing on the hammock, campfires at night, farm eggs for breakfast, tubing on the river, the barn and solo, the canoe, just resting and taking walks. We enjoyed our 2 night stay. The quality of bedding, linens and furnishings stood out compared to other rentals. The property and the unit are more spacious and charming than the pictures show. The local coffee and pastries were a delicious and unexpected treat. We loved hearing the train. The only thing to be aware of is that the thermostat is located in the owner's home (adjacent) and communication with the owner is required to make adjustments. However, with that said, Susan was accommodating and responsive during our stay and we would highly recommend.

Beautiful little cabin in the woods and just across the street from the river. Close to downtown Luray as well as SNP. Lots of cute little wineries and breweries to check out in the area. Second time staying here and we love it! Very thoughtfully designed cabin.

Super close to Old Rag and Shenandoah. The driveway is a little steep for regular cars but we made it work. The patio was nice to sit on and cool down after a day of activities. Would stay again!

Brad’s place was very spacious and just what we were looking for! I would definitely recommend for a single traveler or couple. Looking forward to our next trip there.

Our stay here was such a good time. The scenery, the seclusion, the comfortability of the cottage alone made it worth staying. Me and my wife initially booked for 3 nights but ended up wanting to extend for one more because we enjoyed our time so much. We still didn’t want to end up leaving. Mr. Alton made the process to extend super simple and easy for us. He was polite, responsive and was just a good host overall. Most definitely will be booking again in the future.

We had a wonderful getaway at Seths place in Rockingham. Perfect location for a group of 12 girlfriends that wanted to relax. Loved the pool and the porch/patio! Felt like Tuscany. Seth and Carla were extremely responsive to the couple of small issues we had. Definitely recommend.

We had a wonderful stay at this cabin! Close enough to all the hikes we wanted to do. Pet friendly (huge for us) and beautiful views! Please make sure you read the whole listing, as you definitely need a vehicle with 4 wheel drive to get up the driveway. We brought our own towels, sheets, and so on as stated and everything else we needed was available. Would recommend bringing dish towels. We had forgotten them this trip. Cooking pots and pans are little outdated but they’re just fine! We had a wonderful taco night anniversary dinner at the cabin and throughly enjoyed a nice soak in the hot tub. There’s a very nice above ground pool also but it was too cold this time of year to swim in. I would definitely stay again!

I’d argue that this is one of the best places to stay in Wintergreen. The cabin itself is perfect. We are a young family and it was comfortable, clean, and had everything we needed. The location is also perfect. It is very close to all the attractions on the resort. Clay was a great host as well. The perfect amount of communication; engaged without being intrusive. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to be sure their trip is easy and successful!

We loved our stay at this condo in Wintergreen. The condo was beautifully furnished. Very clean. And the views from the balcony are unbelievable. Since it was spring, it was very quiet which we enjoyed. The mountains were so lush and green. The host responded to any questions within minutes. Check out was a breeze. We will be booking again!

We had a wonderful and relaxing weekend. The farm tour with Madi was excellent, truly a must do! The yurt was cozy with a short walk to the pool and hot tub. It felt like a private retreat. We had some big rain storms while there, but inside was dry and comforting. Will absolutley be back!

The cabin was great to stay at and had some pretty awesome views! Highly recommend the hiking trails. Overall, a really great place.
