The museum is dedicated to the writer and Jesuit priest Jón Sveinsson "Nonni". The street is also a lovely place to take stroll and look at the beautiful houses from the late 1800s and early 1900s

There is a famous adventure about two boys in Iceland called Nonni and Manni. If you know their story, or are interested in how people lived around 1900, this is Nonni's actual house.

"Innbærinn is the oldest part of town and has many typical old Icelandic buildings. Nonnahús is special because it is the original home of one of Iceland most known authors from the beginning of the last century. It is still in it's original state and is interesting to see because it shows well how people lived in in Iceland in that period and it has a good collection of the many translations worldwide of his book "Nonni and Manni"
