With miles of trails, the Bluff is a perfect place for botany or photography or plain old serenity. Note: there’s no TV, children must be supervised at all times and alcohol/tobacco/etc are not allowed on the property.

Scott School was a Campbell County one-room school from 1905 to 1928. In 2010, Scott School was renovated and serves as a lovely tea room and quiet location for guests. The cottage is complete with two bedrooms (one twin, one full), central HVAC, full kitchen, and televisions. This cozy farmhouse, built in the 1930s, is a hidden gem nestled at the foothills of the Blue Ridge on the historic Balcony Downs estate. With an abundance of outdoor activities on site and nearby, Balcony Downs is a wonderland for the adventurous. Due to the age of this cottage, it has some quirks that you should consider before booking: 1. The bathroom is on the 2nd floor. 2. The stairs are open and steep. 3. The shower is small and may be difficult for tall or larger individuals.

Little Gallery House Near Natural Bridge

The Little Gallery House, near Natural Bridge, is part of an old Civilian Conservation Corps Camp, then juvenile detention center, now a campground and artist community, called Thunder BRidge. There are 100 acres to explore, bordering the Jefferson National Forest, with hiking trails and just 2 miles from the James River. This would be an ideal place for family to meet if some of you want to camp and others would like a real house. There is a queen bed and a day bed.
