The Gateway-Getaway is only about three miles from Mount Desert Island (MDI) where you will find Acadia National Park & Bar Harbor. The apartment is perfect for 1-2 people. You will stay in an efficiency apartment above our detached garage. Which is in a quiet location (although occasionally our dogs bark when outside). There's a twin day bed on the ground floor & a double futon in the loft. Tiny kitchen & bathroom with shower (2 temps: hot or cold) too. A heat pump keeps the place toasty warm or nice and cool. Our family's gazebo, grill, fire pit, hammock, trails & garden are shared with guests. A beautiful beach across the bay from Acadia is down the road.

Both our houses are designed in the contemporary style. We used custom made decor and cherry tree furniture. A lot of windows, glass doors, bright and open space are inside the house. It is very quiet outside. You most likely will be alone at the beach. We share the whole sea cove with only one neighboring house. It is a pure paradise if you want to live on the beach on your own and within minutes of driving to the main local attractions. You'll be amazed of our botanical garden and landscape.

Isleview Cottage 3 - 10 min drive to Acadia!

This was a comfy place with the privacy of being in an individual cabin. The space inside was a little tight, but it was fine since we just needed a place to sleep. The property is more of an inn style with multiple cabins rather than an individual residence. The main office/lounge had many thoughtful amenities - ice machine, microwave, Keurig coffee, games, books, brochures, dog treats and toys, fire wood, etc. The best part was the s'mores kits! There is a large grass area with chairs and a fire pit in front of the cabins, but it is directly adjacent to the main road. There is another grassy area behind the main building if you want somewhere to throw a ball for your dog a little farther away from the cars. Overall, it was a good value and comfortable space located conveniently close to Acadia National Park.
