From Humptrup, the North Sea is about 20 km away! The ideal starting point for day trips to the North Frisian islands and Halligen (e.g. Sylt, Föhr, Amrum, Hooge, Oland, Hamburger Hallig). The Nolde Museum is in the immediate vicinity and Denmark is only 3 km away.

The lake is used for windsurfing and wingfoiling.

The apartment Sliapmots (Frisian: sleeping cap) is centrally located in Wyk/Boldixum on the road that connects the harbor with the city of Wyk and the island villages.
