Family-friendly holiday rentals in Alpena

This place is out of a dream. A perfect spot to unwind. Right on the lake. Has all the amenities. Nothing else I would change about this spot. This is my second visit and will definitely not be the last.

Bailey was a great host. She was responsive and helpful when we had issues. The house was nice, clean, and spacious.

Pros: This is an amazing place for a large group. Plenty of space for sleeping, talking, eating, etc. With 12 adults we never once felt crowded or cramped while in the house. Each bedroom has its own AC, so everyone could sleep at their own comfort level. Everyone was comfortable for the entire stay. The home is overly stocked with the necessities - no need to worry about bringing anything but clothes and food. The host is super responsive, friendly and helpful. This is truly a hidden gem in Glennie and we would absolutely rent again. Cons: The internet needs an upgrade (Starlink) as it went in and out during the stay - this did not bother our group as we wanted to unplug from the world, but may be an issue for others. The bunker house has a bathroom but it was not usable during our stay. We did not need to use the bunker house but hopefully this will be fixed for future visitors.

Great stay, the CUTEST location. Quiet, relaxing..right on the lake! couldn't ask for a better up north vibe!

Host went out of his way to make sure we had items for the kids; crib and toys.

Had a great time with the kids at Edwards place. Definitely off the beaten path, 20 min drive to property driving on gravel and then dirt/sand after the gate, was a little tight between the vegetation on the path with my truck but no damage done(couple minor scratches). You'll get used to the solar power and learn to conserve, make sure to charge during the day. Amazingly beautiful property, crazy quite. We didn't see much wildlife during our stay, mostly a wide variety of birds. we rented the small boat and made it to the sandbar on Hubbard lake, if your not too familiar with boats I would rent a boat in the surrounding lakes before trying to make it by river to Hubbard lake. River is GREAT for kayak, canoe or paddle board plus you won't scare off the wildlife with the sound of the engine. Overall, we had a great time in this secluded setting and spending quality time with the kids without wifi/internet.

We loved our stay at the 3 little cottages! It has everything we needed and more. The lakeside area was perfect for our kids. We enjoyed the use of kayaks as well. The cottages were clean and comfortable and had all basic amenities covered. We enjoyed all the extra toys provided in the shed. Lori was so helpful and friendly. We were so sad to leave and can not wait to come back next year!

Great secluded stay on a lake! Home was basic, but clean and comfortable. We spent almost all our time outside on the giant lawn and, of course, the lake. It is a little out of the way to find, but instructions provided were clear. Cell coverage is spotty with Verizon. Fishing was good. The nearby town has a pretty substantial grocery store, outdoor shop, and pretty much everything we needed during our stay. Host was very helpful and responsive the whole time! We will likely look at renting again next year.

The house is plenty big enough, clean and everything we needed. the property is beautiful and quiet. would definitely stay again.

We had a wonderful stay, property was as described. We enjoyed the beach and sandy lakefront, great for kids swimming. Owner was friendly and responsive to our questions. Cottage was clean with plenty of clean linens available. We did not feel the mattresses were very comfortable. Wonderful stay and would recommend for a peaceful getaway on a beautiful lakefront property!

Lots of fun to be had at Linda’s establishment. We enjoyed the fire pit and the WELL stocked wood to accommodate our camp fire😊

We have stayed at Jeremy's place many times. He's always responsive, & helpful if/when we need to contact him. Wonderful location, we always love staying here.

This place is super cool and beach themed which I love. The pics are accurate and location to the beach is just as described! There's a pier within walking distance too and plenty of sandy beach to enjoy! Two things stood out to me, the house was super clean! Like immaculate clean. I was impressed and two, the communication with the host was impeccable. I always get nervous about getting in and if I have questions if they're gonna be answered timely. I had zero issues and the host went above and beyond to be sure all my questions were answered pre staying there. Upon getting there everything was perfect so I had no more questions although the host still reached out to make sure everything was OK! Yup! Great service! The beds were also comfy so that's also another plus! I highly recommend! 💯😁

Our event "Sno Droft" because we were competing was stressful. Pete's Retreat just plain took that load off of our plate as did the host Leslie! Just a great location, great neighborhood and great people!

We had the most amazing weekend with our four kids (ages 2 to 10) at Sunkissed Cottage! The lake is incredibly beautiful and peaceful. The location felt safe and private. We felt like it was just ours, even though it was a holiday weekend. The cottage was clean and comfortable. The kitchen had what we needed to cook our meals. It was a weekend full of fishing, swimming, kayaking, bonfires, and board games. We checked out the old Presque Isle lighthouse, which is a short, pretty hike from the marina and full of charm. We would love to visit again!

This was a wonderful place to stay. It is right on a beautiful beach. Additionally, there was an issue with the front door getting jammed shut, Ben was very quick to respond, which I appreciate.

Kim’s cabin was perfect and just what we needed for a weekend up north to end the summer. Kids loved the beach and the board games. Sand lake is gorgeous and although the sand is a bit mucky, it’s still probably the best in-land lake I’ve set foot in in Michigan! Nice and shallow for what seemed like 100ft out from shore! Perfect for my 6 and 10 yr old kids. They used the paddle board and we used the kayaks and metal boat. They loved the slide into the lake and even though it was the last weekend of the year and time to take it out of the water, the owners were gracious enough to let our kids use it for most of the day Saturday. Tawas was only a 15 minute drive! Perfect location and great, quiet safe community. We will definitely be back if Kim and Dutch will have us! Thank you so much again!!! Oh the cabin was great as well and has everything you would need! Fire pit and all the tools for smores!

This was an exceptional place. Very quiet Ava serene. Matt and Betsy were very accommodating, kind, and friendly. They went above and beyond providing all accommodations throughout my week stay. A+.

We wanted to find a place that could host our family that had a great view and was also private. The house is amazing and the descriptions are accurate. Scott, our main contact, was always very responsive. We felt welcome the minute we walked in. We highly recommend this place!

Great place for a stay in northern Michigan. It was quiet with an unforgetable view of the lake. Lots of wildlife in the area too. We'll remember canoeing on the lake and the chats with Steve and Vickie around the fire pit for a long time.
