Cottage holiday rentals in Balsam Lake

This was probably the best Airbnb we have stayed at to date. Cannot say enough good things about the place! Modern, beautifully decorated, incredibly clean, attention to all the little details, quiet and peaceful, and the dock… that was our favorite part. We had 4 relaxing days on our baby moon here and are already talking about returning. Communication was so quick (within minutes), the hosts were accommodating and a pleasure to communicate with. Thank you for making our baby moon so memorable! We will be back!

We were 4 adults, 1 child and 1 toddler. Sarah's cottage is perfectly located - it faces the lake, which is huge, boats, life jackets, etc. are provided and the host is extremely clear in their communication. There was an unexpected issue which came up and which couldn't be rectified till after our booking ended, but I was made aware of it in advance of my trip and Sarah was very transparent in her communication, which I appreciate a lot. The cottage was just a 10 min drive from the main highway, and 15 min drive from the nearest convenience store, so it wasn't that bad. The lake was pristine with some fish in it too, and on days when it was not windy, the water was quite clear too. To top it all, the bright orange ball during sunset won our hearts. We had a great relaxing time and would recommend this to anyone looking for a perfect getaway, just about 2 hours away from GTA.

Wait.. there is no option for 6 stars!?! Wow, where to begin!?! From check-in to check-out, our group had a fantastic time. Our host was super friendly and easy to connect with at all times. Our group had 8; 6 adults, a teen & a child. Everyone was entertained at all times from the karaoke machine, the games, the hot tub, the firepit, the kayaks & canoes, the swimming, and the stairway to haven, which was truly breathtaking taking!!! The town of Halliburton was a short 10 minutes away where we enjoyed some shopping, lunch & coffee. We were celebrating my parents 50th wedding anniversary; 78 & 73 years young and they rocked that staircase several times! We frequent Air B N Bs often and this is by far my new favourite. There is already talk of a return visit in the future. Highland Bliss is gourgeous, loaded with all the amenities, is spotless, super comfortable and my family is so thankful to Marcia for allowing us to visit her beautiful space and create lasting memories!

Chorong was a great host! Leading up to our stay she was extremely responsive as I had a lot of questions! The house itself was stunning. Clearly it is taken care of and maintained very well. All of the beds were so comfortable. Outdoor area was a lovely space. Would definitely like to come back in the winter as I am sure the scenery is beautiful.

My friends and I stayed here for a winter weekend away and it was just what we needed/wanted in a little cottage. Great location for those coming from the GTA and nice and close for those in Simcoe. Once we got there we felt right at home! The hosts had cleared the walking paths and back deck of any recent snow fall which made it nice and easy to get inside and enjoy the grounds. They went above and beyond by having the wood burning stove going for us when we checked in which made CARL that much more cozy and welcoming. Communication and instructions were very clear and detailed from start to finish which made the whole rental process easy and enjoyable. My friends and I look forward to coming back to CARL in the future!

We had a fantastic stay! The place is exactly as described/ in the photos. The outdoor patio furniture on the upper deck is super comfortable and makes for a great spot to relax by the water. We had a great time playing pool in the boathouse (the air conditioning in there was a big plus) and its proximity to Bobcaygeon to pick up food or walk the dog was very convenient. We can’t wait to come back again!

This is a cozy, clean, and beautiful cottage where we had a wonderful weekend with our friends. The host was excellent—very responsive and accommodating. Check-in and check-out were seamless and hassle-free. The only downside was the late check-in time (3 PM) and early check-out time (10 AM), which felt a bit restrictive. Overall, it was a great experience!

The house was spotless and the garden was absolutely lovely. Both we and our dog had a wonderful time during our stay. We always bring our own sheets to Airbnb stays, but we couldn’t help noticing how fresh and clean the ones here smelled — that was a really nice touch. Many of the things we brought with us were already available in the house, which made everything so convenient. Hot water was always available, which made our stay even more comfortable. The garden was peaceful, filled only with the sounds of birds and frogs — it was truly relaxing to just listen to nature. Getting away from Toronto for a few days was exactly what we needed. Before we arrived, Dylan had kindly left firewood out in the yard for us — that was such a thoughtful gesture and we really appreciated it. As a suggestion, the double bed could use some improvement — it wasn’t very comfortable. Also, the mosquitoes were really intense; despite using repellent, we were bitten all over. I had a fantastic stay at Sam and Rev’s place! The cottage was exactly as described — clean, comfortable, and in a great location. The kitchen was also very well equipped :). Communication with Sam/ Rev was smooth and easy, and they were very responsive and helpful throughout the stay. I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting a getaway from the city and would happily stay again. Thanks again!

Amy & David's place is peaceful heaven, when you need quite break from your work and city. Its a good quiet neighbourhood with all necessary resources. Although everything nearby closes at 8pm can be challenging. So stock up your food in advance. Amy & David are friendly and responsive whenever needed. All the nearby attractions are just 15-20 mins away. The best part is star gazing at night. Pro tip: bring your tripod to get a breathtaking snap of sky full of stars. Thank you guys, it was a wonderful time.

Great location , clean cottage , backyard is really nice, with a perfect sunset view. We had a relaxing weekend and would definitely visit again. Special mention to Richard, he is responsive and provided all the required information.

This place was absolutely amazing! So peaceful and close to nature. It felt like a perfect escape from the city. The space was spotless and well-maintained, and everything we needed was nearby. The view alone made the stay totally worth it. It truly felt like home, and I would definitely love to visit again. Highly recommended!

Had a great stay at Lambs Landing with a group of friends. Debby & Tyler were extremely responsive and great hosts. The amenities were exactly as described / pictured and the home was extremely clean. Looking forward to staying again in the future!

An absolutely amazing stay at Sarah's. The cottage was beyond out expectations - amazing views, all the amenities, very clean and super convenient.

Everything was exactly as pictured and described. Pavlena was very thorough with very detailed instructions and information about everything you would need to know. Self check in was very easy. House was well stocked with anything you might need besides food itself. Setting was beautiful and extremely private. Highly recommend.

Relaxing getaway in a cozy clean cottage! Family friendly resort with lots of water activities for all ages! Enjoyed just relaxing on the dock too!

Second time at Fred's this Summer and yet again, it was amazing! Unfortunately, the weather wasn't on our side but that didn't stop us from having a great time. Fred had so many things for us to do indoors, we loved all the options. Can't wait for our next getaway at Fred's.

We had a totally wonderful long weekend getaway at Jeff & Karen's cottage. The communication with our hosts was perfect from the time of booking until our checkout. When we arrived, we were thrilled to find that the place was even more beautiful than the pictures. The views overlooking Lazy River, the living room area and the kitchen was our favorite, but everything else was impeccable as well. The beds were comfy, the entire cottage was very clean and we found everything we needed under our hands. What we all loved most about the cottage was its character and the little details that showed that the hosts truly cared about the place. The bedroom colors, living room decorations where all those colors came together in the cushions, ornaments etc. was so clever and elegant. The vinyl collection, the guitar and the board games added a nice touch to our stay. We were also fortunate to do some canoeing in the river to enjoy the tranquility. What more can I say, we'd love to come back soon!

(This review was written by my wife, Tami) As we drove up the secluded lane that led into the enchanted forest we knew that we had found a gem.The cottage was charming & spotless with a huge deck that set high up in the trees. The sauna & hot tub provided pure relaxation at the end of our days. The dock was huge with comfortable seating, we even had 2 loons gliding by each day! We hiked to waterfalls, fished & took the canoe for a paddle. Our pups loved our daily adventures! Mark was the perfect host & easy to contact if needed. Loved our stay! The whole experience was fantastic from start to finish. The host is friendly, helpful and quick to communicate. The cottage experience is everything you need and more. Everything felt spotless clean, modern, and cozy. Tons of amenities to use from water activities (canoe & kayak) to the ready-to-go firepit with a well equipped backyard patio of bbq and shielded couch to lounge on. Beds are super comfy, the space makes you feel like at home. My parents and I had a really great time over the weekend in the house and in the area. Would easily recommend to anyone and hopefully we get to go back soon!
