Bed and breakfast holiday rentals in Central Otago District

After a very strenuous day on the rail trail and a freezing cold wind for the last hour we were running later than expected. Debbie checked in with us to make sure we were alright and met us outside as we arrived. Debbie was so welcoming and gracious - she made us feel right at home. We were blown away by the lovely attention to detail (hotties, beautiful tea/coffee set up and the best shower with great pressure!), and enjoyed a really comfy night's sleep after an excellent meal at the Waipiata Country Hotel (a 2 minute walk away). A lovely breakfast the following day with homemade muesli and condiments was just what we needed before setting off again. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Debbie and would highly recommend Behind the Bike Shed to anyone. We will definitely be back!

Loved staying at Lynne’s place. Such a treasure to meet her and Fred. Loved our accommodation and looking at the other stone cottage. Watches the bees on the lavander plants as we had dinner. Felt so at home and welcomed. Would come again when back in NZ.

A beautiful stone cottage with lovely homely touches. Right in the center of town so it was easy to walk to cafes. Very clean and host very friendly and helpful. Would certainly recommend Bakery Cottage for a memorable stay.

My stay in Diane's place was exceptional. The rooms were clean and the communication was absolutely fantastic. Diane was such a lovely, caring host and I will definitely be booking again.

We stayed at Nikki’s while doing the Central Otago Rail Trail. It was a short ride to her place in historic Ophir and we enjoyed looking around. She is about 1km from an historic bridge. The accommodation was very lovely in an old stone cottage that had been lovingly restored. It had good heating and very comfortable bed and a slow combustion stove if you want to stay in. 2 great venues to eat. Highly recommended.

The apartment is very beautiful and furnished with a lot of love and taste. Everything is like new and very well maintained. The breakfast was excellent. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!

This is a little gem outside Wanaka. it feels like a boutique hotel, with private rooms and (some) private bathrooms. The hosts were respectful and helpful, and the area was so peaceful. I would highly recommend staying a few relaxing nights if you go by.

What a lovely welcome to the Cromwell area. Susan and Ian were lovely hosts, and we all enjoyed our breakfast - perfect start to a day ski-ing. Lovely comfy beds, and warm rooms in the middle of winter.

Lovely welcome from the hosts Caroline & Suzie who had some great recommendations for activities in Wanaka. Lovely b&b and perfectly located for a short 10 minute walk to the lake, restaurants and shops in Wanaka. Recommend!

Clarissa goes out of her way to ensure you are comfortable and well looked after. Her home is modern, light and in great area, just a short walk from the shops and Anderson Park.

Sam and Fred are absolutely amazing hosts! Great communication from the outset and throughout our stay. They have the most beautiful home, making us feel very welcomed and felt privileged to get to know them. We had complimentary snacks and a personalised card on arrival! The breakfast which is included in our stay was unbelievable!! 10/10. It was great getting to know their story and felt like we had known them for years. Our room was super clean and tidy and had quite the luxurious bathroom. Only a stones throw from the lake and tracks, quiet and private. Highly recommend.

Such a lovely place to stay! The room was warm and inviting—just what we needed during the holidays. Our host went above and beyond by making us fresh coffee every morning, which was such a thoughtful and appreciated touch. Everything was clean and super comfortable. We felt really well looked after and would absolutely stay here again. Highly recommend!

We had the pleasure of staying at Sarah-Jane's place and it was just perfect! Sarah-Jane is an incredibly warm host who made us feel right at home. The rooms are modern, lovingly furnished and above all sparkling clean – the ideal place to relax and unwind after a long day of travel. The bathroom and the guest toilet were also in perfect condition. The view from the room was breathtaking! Another highlight was the food Sarah-Jane prepared – not only delicious, but really a culinary masterpiece! We were able to enjoy every meal and felt completely pampered. Sarah-Jane also gave us valuable travel tips and was always helpful. A big plus was also that we could easily pay everything by credit card, which saved us a lot of effort. Our short stay with Sarah-Jane was a real experience, and we highly recommend this place!

Hands-down this was the best AirBnB experience I’ve ever had - and I’ve travelled extensively. AirBnB should do a case study on Fred and Samantha, and the service offering they provide to share a template for what best practise looks like. Great hosts, lovely room, amazing cooked breakfast each morning - prepared with local produce and a scenic location. Could not have asked for more. A fabulous stay!!

Jesper and Alex's villa is beautiful, decorated premium, modern fixtures, and fabulous beds and toiletries.We had a very happy two days here, the owner of the house was very welcoming, greeted in person at check-in and prepared a very hearty breakfast for two days in a row.Alex learned that we came to New Zealand for our honeymoon and specially prepared champagne and desserts for us, which was appreciated.Jesper prepared a hiking pole for us before we went for a mountain hike.It was the best two days of our trip to New Zealand!
