Family-friendly holiday rentals in Cowlitz River

Great place to stay in when in Ashford! I rented few cabins there already and this one was my favorite. So well equipped with everything you may need. It was clean and comfy.

Felt like our own home. Had a pleasant stay.

This was a great base for Mt. Rainier. Super comfy bed and couches and plenty of space to spread out and relax. The hot tub was perfect for relaxing our sore muscles after a day of hiking. I would recommend staying here if you want a good location close to the park.

What a fantastic cabin for some Mt. Rainier adventures. Cozy and warm and i just love the astatic that the owners choose. Private, quiet and romantic for sure. Hot tub was clean and perfect, private and under the cover of massive trees. Used the tub on cold and rainy night, tress kept much if the cold rain away. Bed was very nice with great linens and blankets. Local deer wanted to befriend me both mornings. Host provided all needed info and some about the local area. A beautiful and cozy cabin to stay at for some privacy and rest after exploring Mt. Rainier. If available in the future, i will definitely return when visiting south Mt. Rainier. 5 stars.

We had a truly wonderful stay! The space was incredibly clean, peaceful, and beautifully decorated—with thoughtful touches throughout that made it feel extra special. It was private and quiet, yet perfectly located for exploring the Portland area. Parking was easy, and the neighborhood felt safe and welcoming. The hosts were extremely kind and communicative—we felt well taken care of from start to finish. We were very impressed and would absolutely stay here again!

Kristen's home was the perfect place for our family gathering. There was enough space for all of us (10) to be comfortable. We were able to hang out in the spacious dining area and the outdoor patio was private. The kitchen is really well stocked with necessities - pans, mugs, bakeware, etc. This is a beautiful home that is well maintained and the care shows. Kristen was very prompt in responding to my many questions. Highly recommend this home!

It's a fabulous place with a hot tub and campfire facilities. It doesn't feel like the property is literally beside the main road yet extremely serene and beautiful. It felt like we were inside a forest. 100% recommended. It is very near to Ashford and Mt Rainier. The interiors were amazingly aesthetic. Had a lot of handwritten notes and that was a beautiful touch and felt personalized because it felt like the hosts were with us all the time guiding us when needed. Loved it!!

Adorable little adu. Beautifully designed and impeccably clean. I had a lovely stay. And it was so fun to see the chickens!

We stayed here long-term while house-hunting and had the most amazing time. This space felt like home, the hosts were kind and very welcoming, and the neighborhood was a dream. Very walkable and historic. This ended up being our new favorite neighborhood in Portland! Thank you James for the most perfect stay. Highly recommended!

The perfect little cabin just a few miles from Mount Rainier National Park. Will highly recommend this to anyone visiting the area. The creek behind the cabin really adds to the experience. Loved every minute!

Such a great hidden gem! Walkable to restaurants, breweries, bars and parks. Parking right out front. Clean and well-organized space. Quiet back patio that catches amazing morning sunshine. 10/10 recommend. Check out hidden back patio at Great Notion Brewing- Matt’s BBQ tacos have a great breakfast menu there!

Cannot say enough about the wonderful experience we had staying at Rivers Retreat. It truly is a magical place right next to the Washougal River where you are surrounded by nature and can hear the peaceful river below. The hosts are more than helpful and we were grateful for their recommendations. We enjoyed watching the bald eagles and relaxing by the bonfire. The indoor space was very well kept and full of amenities. We will definitely return for another stay if ever in the area.

This was my second stay with Andrea and it didn’t disappoint. Cozy and calm retreat within walking distance of all the Mississippi fun. Loved having morning coffee with my dog on the outdoor patio space. This is earmarked on my Portland list for my future trips.

Jacob’s place is as advertised and was great. The neighborhood is a classic Portland residential district and about a 4 minute drive from the cool, quirky venues in St Johns. Jacob is personable, and his place is quiet and very comfortable. I look forward to staying again as I’m a frequent visitor of Portland and Jacob’s is among the best places I’ve stayed.

This is such a wonderful retreat in Portland, so close to everything you need and yet quiet and peaceful. The best part are the hosts though! Sid and Izzy are just so wonderful, and really make you feel at home and welcomed. The photos are a little old when we booked, so there actually was a full-sized fridge and a large computer desk, which were awesome! Like many reviews said, the space feels really big. It was me, my husband, and my dog for a whole month, and we felt very comfortable. We cooked most of our meals, so the kitchen, though small, is very functional. I highly recommend for long or short stays!

We really enjoyed our stay at this cabin in Packwood! If you are looking to visit Mt. Rainier it is about a 2 hour drive to the visitor center. If Google maps offers a shorter route from the cabin, do not take it. We did and ended up off roading on a dirt road with potholes and big puddles. The area surrounding the cabin was absolutely gorgeous we saw elk and a baby bear!

John's home was exactly what we were hoping for. It had all the amenities, space, and beds we needed. Access was easy and convenient. John was easy to communicate with, answered all our questions, and was accommodating. We hope to stay again next year.

We recently spent a weekend at this charming cabin in Packwood, and we couldn’t have asked for a better getaway. From the moment we walked in, it felt cozy and inviting, with beautiful rustic touches that made it feel like a true home away from home. Every amenity we needed was already there—kitchen supplies, comfortable bedding, and a great living space to relax in after a day of skiing. The setting itself was peaceful and scenic, and we only wish we could have extended our stay. We’re already looking forward to booking this cabin again the next time we’re in the area!

Great spot for large groups, lots of sleeping areas and spacious for hanging out. Very cozy and on a nice private road part of a country club. The hosts were super responsive and really friendly about making changes to our reservation and having our dog Blue come along!

We had a wonderful stay in Packwood! The bed was exceptionally comfortable and the hot tub was very welcome after a long day of hiking at Mount Rainier. We definitely second the recommendation of The Mountain Goat - their coffee and bakery were exceptional!

My family and I get together once a year to do a family trip and this one had to be one of our favorites.

Tessa was so great to work with. We got in pretty late and she had the lights on for us and gave very clear instructions on how to find the place and where to park. It was clean & cozy!
