Cottage holiday rentals in Funchal

We had a wonderful time at Emanuels place. He was a wonderful host, very helpful with recommendations and showing how everything worked. The view from his place is incredible. We spent almost every evening on the terrace, enjoying the view of the ocean and Ribeira Brava. What a wonderful place! Thank you so much for sharing it with us.

Nous avons beaucoup apprécié notre séjour à la Casa do Cantinho do Muro. La maison est spacieuse et idéale pour 4 personnes. La cuisine d'été supplémentaire avec le barbecue nous a énormément plu. Tout était prêt à l'emploi et facile. Le quartier est calme, la vue magnifique avec les montagnes qui cerclent la vallée.

Fantastic views from the garden. The host was super helpful and quick to respond. There was a very generous welcome gift of fruits and local produce.

We had the privilege of renting this efficient and comfortable home for a month. Mary is an extraordinary host. Directions were precise, information was thorough and she was available to offer assistance, and answer questions at any time. Fresh citrus trees were available for picking just off the generous patio. We enjoyed the hot tub and having a washer and dryer and outdoor clothes rack. The Poncha Bar down the street is the best!!! Mary’s husband Joseph is the owner/bartender/coffee maker and general store manager….he does it all! Joseph’s Poncha is hands down the best we found on the island! A safe and welcoming neighborhood, in a central location on a stunning island.

We hebben een prima verblijf gehad. Helaas viel tijdens ons verblijf een glazen deksel vanuit het kastje boven de kookplaat, op de kookplaat. Die was stuk. Direct gemeld en geregeld met de eigenaar. Heel erg fijn. Verder is de locatie top, het is erg rustig en mooi. Je zit precies aan de goede zonnige kant van Madeira. De cocktailbar iets verderop, pukiki, is op loopafstand en erg leuk om heen te gaan. Winkels zijn dichtbij, strand is dichtbij en de mooie wandelroutes zijn perfect aan te rijden. Er is geen airco aanwezig, ik denk wel dat als het warmer wordt dat je de hitte gaat merken maar er staat een ventilator. De bedjes bij het zwembad waren wel doorgezakt, wij hebben gewoon onze buitenstoelen gebruikt. Alles in het huisje is verder top in orde. Geen grote luxe maar perfect voor de prijs, de locatie en alles wat je nodig hebt is aanwezig.

Jolie maisonnette sur les hauteurs de Sao Jorge. Confortable, bien décorée, nous ne l'avons occupée qu'à deux mais elle peut accueillir 5 personnes. Emplacement idéal pour les départs de randos. Deux bons restos tout près : la Casa de Palha et le café Aeréo (brochettes de bœuf délicieuses avec une vue incroyable sur la terrasse).

Susy was so helpful from the booking through to check out, always quick to respond and give helpful advice. The house is beautifully decorated. A lovely basket of local treats and fresh flowers were there when we arrived. Views over Funchal and the private pool make this a great place to stay!

The accomodation was nice, soooo quiet and peaceful. Only the bird chirping we can hear during our stay. the view from the covered terace was amazing. it was easy to reach the house by car. We really enjoyed our stay in this cottage.

Wir können ganz klar sagen: das war das schönste Airbnb in dem wir je zu Gast waren!!! Die Lage, das Grundstück, der Pool und vor allem: das wunderschöne kleine Häuschen. Jedes Details stimmt, so geschmackvoll und authentisch, wunderschöne Materialien, kein Element zu viel oder zu wenig. Zum verlieben! Normalerweise gehen wir fast immer auswärts frühstücken und essen, hier haben wir es oft vorgezogen auf der wunderschönen Veranda zu bleiben. Dustin und Paula waren immer für uns da und haben sichergestellt, dass wir immer alles haben was wir brauchen. Wir kommen gerne wieder!!!

If you're looking for a quiet area to get away from the crowds in the cities this is a wonderful place. It's nestled in the mountain valleys near Ponta do Prago but quite near the ocean. We loved our 6 day stay at Frederica 's. She provided good, clear instructions to get there. She also gave us very useful information on local attractions, restaurants and supermarkets. The house is on a very steep pitched road so walking up and down it can be a challenge ( we are in our 70's ) We did it a few times. There is a walk from her house to the waterfalls . It took us about 2 hrs. Rnd-trip but it was well worth it. If we were to return we'd go back in April or later.

This place is amazing! In the middle of the mouintains and almost no one around - felt magical ! Nice view of the ocean with green surrounding. It is also close to the small village with good coffee :) House looks like in the pictures, cozy, big and clean. Garden is well kept with many areas to hang out. We have the worst weather but with two electric heaters it was warm inside. The host was friendly, helped us with all issues that we asked and made this holidays really easy-going for us :) thanks! Highly recommended for memorable and relaxed holidays :) PS The swimming pool can be heated but it costs 45€/day and it has to be heated for at least 5 days.

Our wonderful host Sofia stopped by before we left and said “Isn’t it magical?” … it sure is and more. You will need nothing; you will want nothing more; you may forget all your plans to hike, find miradouro’s, and explore, because Villa Papaya is simply mesmerizing and keeps you in your happy place. If you must leave this Villa, it is close enough to just about everywhere you’ll want to go. José and Sofia are excellent at what they do; take advantage of this opportunity if you can, It’s Magical!

Wir haben uns in Domingos Haus sehr wohl gefühlt. Besonders gefallen hat uns der Blick von den beiden Terrassen auf die Bucht und das Meer (noch schöner, als auf den Fotos!) Das Haus ist ruhig gelegen in einer schmalen und steilen Einbahnstraße. Es ist sehr geräumig und sauber und sehr gut ausgestattet mit ausreichend Geschirr, Töpfen, Handtüchern usw. Neben der Terrasse gibt es einen extra Grillraum mit weiterer Küche und Zugang zum Garten aus dem wir uns Kräuter pflücken durften.Obwohl die Straße eng und steil ist, war das Parken kein Problem - der Spaziergang in den Ort dauert je nach Kondition 20 - 30 Minuten. Der Kontakt zum Verwalter war sehr freundlich und zuverlässig. Wir wurden persönlich und sehr herzlich begrüßt und als Willkommensgruß gab es ein großes Paket aus Wein, frischen Eiern, Bananen, Keksen und Kuchen. Das Haus ist eine gute Ausgangslage um den Westen der Insel zu erkunden und wir können es gerne weiterempfehlen. Obrigada!

The house is amazing, we had a great time In this accommodation- very recommended! It is very secluded and calm🙂 The interior is very cozy, had all the necessary equipment for cooking and barbecue on the terrace. The view is stunning - very beautiful location. For cat lovers there is a great bonus - there are cats that are coming from time to time to the terrace of the house - they are very cute and friendly - we recommend to grab some additional food to have something to feed them🙂 This house is a great and unique place to stay and we loved it but there are few things to keep in mind for guests of this accommodation: - there is no cellular network in the house - WiFi is unstable (the house is not suitable for working), we stayed for 4 nights and there was no internet connection during this period of time almost at all. - It’s very secluded and most of the things around close pretty early so you have to plan & buy your food in advance, also to buy in advance a lot of water (for dri

Thank you so much to Costa and Siestke, their home is beautiful and was our perfect base - we were so happy to have slow mornings there and return home there in the evening after exploring the island. Porto de Cruz is a great little village with the old rum factory and beaches, we really loved our stay here. Costa ans Sietske were so gracious, sharing the history of the building and local recommendations, it was a pleasure to meet both of them. Thank you so much for everything! 10/10 highly recommend, especially if you want a cosy, authentic place to yourself on the island. Perfect!

Lovely house, great furniture, good Internet. We especially loved the sun room. The house is in a compound with two other houses, but we only saw the neighbors once. Only downside: we were there in April and it was foggy and we could not get the cold & moisture out of the house no matter what we did.

Séjour exceptionnel ! J’ai passé un moment parfait dans ce logement. L’appartement était propre, bien équipé et décoré avec goût. Tout correspondait à l’annonce, voire mieux ! Le quartier est calme, agréable. Un grand merci à l’hôte, très réactif, accueillant et attentionné. On sent qu’elle a vraiment à cœur que tout se passe bien. Je recommande les yeux fermés et je reviendrai sans hésiter si l’occasion se présente.
