Holiday rentals with a kayak in Houghton Lake

We enjoyed our stay at the lake with fishing and exploring the lakes in the paddle boat. The view of the water from the cottage and yard was picturesque and serene. While there are neighbors nearby, it was no issue at all. The neighbors were friendly and the overall area was peaceful. The cottage was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. There is no AC, not a problem when we were there. Communication with Ruth was great. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay.

Our group of 8 loved this property! It was spacious and clean with a great view of the water. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils/tableware for large groups, and the table seating 8 was a bonus! The dock did have a lot of goose poop on it, but management cleaned it up quickly when I mentioned it (but as it is a lake there are a lot of birds, so be prepared for a lot of poop in the yard). The hot water never ran out, and the check in/check out process was super easy.

Our stay in this cute little cabin was very enjoyable. It is clean and cozy. the bed was very comfortable. It has everything required for some rest and relaxation. Even our dogs approved. 🐾

The house is great setup for a relaxing family vacation. It is a nice quiet lake with a private beach and great fishing off the dock and around the whole lake. Our toddler loved the sand toys and we relaxed around the fire pit after dark. We also explored kid-friendly activities in Big Rapids and Mount Pleasant during our stay. The house was well-equipped and we really enjoyed our time here!

We had a great weekend spending it at the Captains Quarters! Host is very responsive and helpful to our call when needed. There isn't any AC so needing to keep the windows open at night was hard because we didn't want to be loud for the other cottages. Overall our experience was great and would come back to stay again.

Such a beautiful home, well maintained and Kim & Tony had everything you could need. We enjoyed our stayed and loved using the hot tub every night. Also loved the clear sandy beach!

We booked this cabin for a nice little relaxing girls getaway and it was just that! Located in a very quiet neighborhood. The cabin itself was very nice and clean. Only snafu was the neighborhood was without power for several hours one evening (obviously not fault of the host). I would recommend this cabin to others and would definitely return. Gorgeous view from the living room and deck. Master bedroom mattress super comfortable. Ceiling fan in living area and master great addition. Loved sitting in at the table in the sunroom since it was a bit chilly to be on the deck. Three local owned restaurants we went to had fantastic food. I already talked to friends about the place and hope to go back again this summer.

The cottage was immaculately clean, with plenty of amenities that made us feel right at home. Excellent communication by the hosts again made us feel very welcome. Highly recommended, and we'll be back in the summer for sure!

We enjoyed our long weekend at Houghton Lake in your beautiful home. It was the perfect space for 2 adults and 3 teenagers. The kitchen is fully stocked and the home was clean and had thoughtful touches throughout. Also, the sunset views are amazing! You can tell they take pride in hosting guests. We would love to come back during the summer to enjoy the lake more.

My family, friends, and I enjoyed staying at Tim’s property once again. Tim is easy to reach if needed for anything, and was a great host. The property is well located and beautiful! Walking distance to dine out, or just a few minutes drive to get groceries, while still feeling tucked away. We hope to stay again next summer.

Anita was an amazing host! She responded very quickly to any questions we had throughout our stay. The pictures do not do this place justice, it’s more beautiful in person. It was immaculately clean and had everything we needed. Coffee pot, toaster, cookware, they thought of everything. Even had extra sunscreen the bathroom. The beach area was also very clean and well stocked, we enjoyed going out on the kayaks. It was the perfect setting to exhale and escape the world for a week on our own private beach. We will definitely be booking with Anita again!

This place was amazing! Perfect for a family of 10 plus two pups. This house had everything you needed and more! It had all the water toys, games for family night, fishing poles and chairs to surround the fire at night with everyone. The dock was perfect to stand for hours to fish and catch any quantity and quality of fish. My family and I were amazed with our stay in an air bnb. I highly recommend this place to stay in, and we’re already planning our next trip here. Evelyn was very helpful, tentative and warned us of storms heading our way. We really appreciate everything.

We really enjoyed our stay, the place is for those looking for peace, tranquility and rest! The cabin is beautiful, perfect, just like the ones I saw in the movies when I was a child! The lake is beautiful, my husband had fun fishing and rowing the boat. I highly recommend it for spending some quality time.

We had a wonderful time at the cabin! Very toddler friendly and the access to the water was perfect.

We enjoyed our stay it was a cozy place! Would def recommend for couples or adults/people with older kids. It was a little hard with little kids (6-2yr olds) just because I didn’t want them to mess anything up but it did fine:)

This was our second stay at Cathy's Cabin. As always the cabin was clean and welcoming, just put the cooler contents in the fridge and begin enjoying the stay. I enjoy this lake. It reminds me very much of my grandparents lake cottage. Late May is still cool weather in Michigan and Cathy's brother made a special effort to get the pontoon boat ready for us. We enjoyed being out on the water and trying our hands at fishing. I caught a northern pike at the north end of the lake, Khi caught some small walleye right off the dock. For guests in the warmer weather there is every kind of summertime toys imaginable in the shed, kayaks etc... We would definitely look forward to returning to Cathy's Cabin again.

Excellent secluded retreat in rural Michigan. The riverfront location was breathtaking. Everything about the house was charming and cozy.

WELL WORTH IT! Be aware lots of steps to the water, but a ton of FUN! Paddle boat, kayaks, and a lily pad! House is very clean, well stocked and comfy beds and pillows! The veiw was gorgeous, may have to come back in the fall for colors. Easy check in, and Chelsea was very responsive!

We truly enjoyed staying at the Funky Frog, the space was perfect for our needs with our two dogs, backyard, fire pit with wood, the beach was right down the road and we were easily able to take our dogs out for long walks which they loved.
