The private rental accommodation "Takasegawa Shichijo" is a fully renovated 115-year-old traditional Kyoto townhouse. The traditional Kyoto townhouse, which forms part of the beautiful scenery of Kyoto, has been redesigned as a building with high airtightness and thermal insulation, while retaining its original structure, so that you can enjoy a comfortable stay even in the humid and hot summers and harshly cold winters that are unique to Kyoto. From the Japanese-style room on the first floor, you can see the tsubo garden, which is designed to resemble a "roji" (*a garden leading to a tea room). There is also a sofa in the hallway where you can relax and enjoy the view of the tsubo garden. In the evening, you can spend a relaxing time watching the illuminated tsubo garden. There are two bedrooms on the second floor: a Japanese-style room with two single beds and a Western-style room with two single beds. If there are 5 or more guests, we ask that you use the Japanese-style room on the first floor as a bedroom by laying out futons, though this may be a bit inconvenient. The kitchen is equipped with cooking utensils and tableware for simple cooking.

When you return to Kyomachiya, you will find a quiet world isolated from the outside world, a perfect place to relax. Built in the early Showa era and long used as a tea ceremony classroom, the townhouse has been reborn as a private rental inn, "Kyomachiya Cottage karigane". It is a 1-minute walk to the hot springs and Daikokuji Temple, which has deep ties to tea. Shino, with its unique cafes, coffee roasters, delicious Japanese confectionery stores, bakeries, and soba shops. Please use the carefully restored Kyomachiya as your base for sightseeing in northern Kyoto, where time flows slowly, with a focus on natural materials and traditional craftsmanship by Miyadai Koge and Saigo craftsmen.

Reikaku Yasaka | Gion | Historical Machiya

Reikaku Yasaka was a building in ruins with the floor tilted by at least 30cm when we discovered this hidden jewel. The restoration was particularly difficult due to the state it was in but our craftsman’s determination to bring this Machiya back to its formal glory paid off for Reikaku Yasaka. The result is Japanese craftsmanship at its best and we are very proud to be able to share the result with the rest of the world. Check our other house as an alternate option @ Reikaku Kiyomizu-Gojo

Machiya Stay in Gojo, Near Gion and Kyoto Sta.

The house was an Ochaya (literally "tea house")before and we renovated it, which is an establishment where patrons are entertained by geisha. We kept the original structure and make it much more modern and comfortable. The river in front of the house is the must-see in Kyoto changing from cherry bloom to maples. The best location near Gojo bridge and Kiyomizuーgojo sta. can make it very convenient to all the famous spots.
