Or ride the bus 30 min. from downtown Kyoto or 20 min. from JR Otsukyo Sta. and get off before Hieidaira convenience store. The host will meet you there. The apartment is 5 minutes walking from imperial garden , 7 minutes from Kyoto City Hall . Good mix of antique and modern kyoto , as many as you can find trendy restaurants and cafes & bakeries all around, you find traditional Japanese tea house and sweet stores also local eat-ins. Although commercial center is walking away distance , my place is on quiet one way street.
