Cottage holiday rentals in La Souterraine

Great stay - gites set in beautiful countryside with large grounds and swimming pool, bbq, games - our stay was just to short to enjoy it all. Extremely pleasant hosts who also provided a useful booklet of local info, restaurants etc.

A true haven of peace! In the middle of nature and sheep! Cheerful! The amenities were perfect!

Perfect, perfect, perfect! We have had the most amazing week at Lilac Cottage! Phil & Maggie were amazing hosts, very attentive, and absolutely lovely. The cottage was gorgeous with all the amenities you could need. The pool area was also lovely and private and the selection of pool toys went down a treat with the kids. Maggie was always on hand if we needed any recommendations of where to go to see the local area . Overall a fantastic stop off as part of our mini French adventure. Would highly recommend!

We loved our stay, the cottage is very comfortable. The terrace and garden are really great for breakfast with the view of the valley which is beautiful. The sunset in the sun loungers… A beach by the river is a 15-minute walk away. Our dogs also enjoyed nearby walks. In short, the ideal stay.

A lovely gite in a wonderful rural location but with good road access for exploring the area. A really well equipped kitchen and as we like to cook when on holiday this was especially appreciated. Nice downstairs space in particular with simply the best woodburner we have seen. Very responsive and friendly relaxed hosts. Recommended all round.

The freshly airy cottage was introduced to us by Caroline as soon as we arrived. The equipped kitchen had very clean utensil drawers. In addition, the dishwasher was emptied and a large stock of toilet paper already provided for us. The laundry room that Caroline also showed us was a stone's throw from the cottage and was free to use, it was very convenient. The nicest surprise though was the pool. Indeed, on the premises of this one was a trunk containing water games such as balloons, fries, rings etc... available to all, to our delight! During our week, we also often enjoyed a hot tub session. Caroline, punctual and caring, opened and operated the outdoor spa at the exact time ordered the day before! Caroline really did everything she could to make our vacation an unforgettable one. Thank you Caroline and very much our next vacation at Les Marronniers!

Lovely, clean accommodation which was as described. Set in a peaceful area and with a lovely meadow full of insects, great for bug hunts with children! The kitchen had everything you will ever need. Phil (and Maggie) are lovely hosts who make you feel very welcome. They are happy to provide you with plenty of suggestions if required and are very responsive. Their pizza night is highly recommended!

We had a pleasant and quiet stay, in a pleasant environment. The place matched the description perfectly!

Nathalie is a very welcoming host. She treated us like a member of the family, she cooked us a meal when we arrived and done us a breakfast and nothing seemed to much of a bother. Her and her husband are very accommodating and friendly and we got through the language barrier very well as she has an app on her phone and along with my VERY LIMITED knowledge of French we got by. The property is in a very quiet location and a home from home but local facilities are nearby. A very nice stey thanks Nathalie. Tres Bonne Merci Beaucoup!

Small stay between friends as we hoped, the setting of the accommodation is beautiful in the middle of nature. Having benefited from a very sunny weather, we were able to enjoy the pool, a real joy. Adjiana and Emmanuel are available and discreet hosts, their recommendations on visits to do were all very wise. The location is perfect for discovering the nearby Château de Villemonteix, a beautiful discovery with exciting guides, the international city of Aubusson tapestry, among others. As for the coffee / cold cuts of Chénérailles we loved it. Thank you to our hosts for their hospitality, including that reserved for my little dog Catherine and Christine

Exceptional stay! A big thank you to Frederic for allowing us to experience this timeless moment in his beautiful cottage. Very large pool, semi-open kitchen and large outdoor areas. Everything was in place to enjoy the beautiful sunshine during our weekend!

An authentic cottage with a serene surrounding in the nature. The best part was the garden that we spent the most time in. The house is very spacious and can accommodate at least 5-6 people. We were just 2 of us and didn't use the upstairs space. The kitchen was pretty well equipped but missed some basic things like salt and oil. Other than that there were enough kitchenware to cook. The towels were not included in the booking which we were not aware of, but the host was kind enough to make an exception and provide them anyway. All in all a great peaceful place we enjoyed a lot and would return to.

Very welcoming host. The cottage is very friendly, practical and well-equipped in a quiet and very friendly and wooded place in the heights of the town. A real experience of peace. We'll be back with pleasure without hesitation.

A very nice house for organizing a stay in the countryside, the place is quiet and located at the start of beautiful walks. The hostess is welcoming and accommodating.

We had a pleasant stay in this house located in a small isolated hamlet (car required for any need). Calm and serenity are kings. You can feel that the house has been lived in and that it is authentic, a little in its original condition but that contributes to charm. Everything you need is on site, including children's games! Arnaud's parents next door are lovely, available and attentive. Go and recharge your batteries!

A big thank you for this wonderful stay that we will not forget. Three days in parentheses, in a house full of charm, straight out of a movie - cozy and full of serenity. The garden, meanwhile, was our cocoon of greenery, a real little corner of paradise where time seemed suspended. We were touched by the kindness of the whole family: your attentions, your smiles, the warmth of your welcome... and of course, a huge crush on Tempête, who knew how to conquer our hearts in the blink of an eye 🐾 Thank you for this enchanting interlude, for the laughter, calm and authenticity that your place inspires. Friendly stay, the accommodation is very well located, quiet with easy access to the various places to visit. The host is very welcoming, it was perfect.

We had a great time in Avignon. Very welcoming and great for a total disconnect and there are quite a few hikes to do nearby. We went with our dog, great welcome. Very welcoming host and always smiling. I really recommend it, a great week

Had a very nice week in this beautiful place with our two young children (3 & 6 years). Beautiful garden to play in and lovely swimming pool and also the cottage is very spacious and cozy.
