Holiday rentals with lake access in Madeira Island

Manuel doesn't speak english, but with some translations on the phone and our limited vocabulary in portuguese/spanish we got far. Manuel explained a lot about all the possibilities for going to festivities and hiking close-by. Whenever we couldn't understand him, he took the time to try to explain differently. In this way he was even able to tell us some interesting things about the plants around in his garden and in the surroundings. Location in the valley itself is good, but down you always have to pass the industrial zone before going anywhere. One way to go about this is to hike up to the nice levadas at either side and walking out via there. It is not easy to get here via public transport. P.S. He has a young cat that was very cute to cuddle with.

Ein wunderschöner Ausblick in einem schönen Ort, den wir jeden Tag genießen konnten. Duarte war zu jeder Zeit schnell erreichbar. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder, wirklich ein toller Ort !

Accommodation in an incredible location. We had a very good stay in this peculiar and curious house, and we were able to eat bananas from their own harvest. A good experience!

We really loved our stay at Casinhas! And would highly recommend it. It is a beautiful place in nature. For that having a car is a must. It was a shame that the road er105 is closed. This made driving to some of the hikes we planed to do still very long while they were so close by.

We had a great stay here (over the new year period). The apartment is great, was exactly as per the photos, descriptions and our expectations. Previous reviews we had read mention some noise, there is an element of that but for us it was nothing more than you would expect of any apartment centrally located in a bustling European city; probably more so when we were there as there is a fantastic festive atmosphere over the new year period. There are some fantastic restaurants nearby, we loved Akua and went there a few times during our stay and it is located on a street parallel to this apartment. The hosts of this AirBnB were especially thoughtful, probably the best we have ever come across over many years of using AirBnB. Very helpful, full of useful info and very quick to respond about any queries/advice. Recommend!

Unser Aufenthalt in der Villa smiling petals war sehr schön. Die Unterkunft ist in den Bergen gelegen, man braucht also ein Auto. Die Aussicht ist fantastisch und die Ausstattung ist einfach aber völlig ausreichend. einziger Kritikpunkt von meiner Seite ist das Bett. Leider war die Matratze schon ziemlich durch und unbequem und es knarrt sobald sich einer im Bett bewegt. Ansonsten hat es uns gut gefallen.

Fantastic apartment in a great location. Ideal for a couple or someone travelling on their own. Spotlessly clean, easily accessible from a quiet street, in central area of Funchal, with a great view of the marina from both the bedroom and kitchen areas. Very comfortable bed, ample supply of towels and toiletries, as well as a welcome pack of local food on our arrival. Alex & Lucy were extremely helpful, organising airport transfers for us as well as being readily available for any queries we had. Apartment is in an ideal location, close to the marina, bus stops, tourist information kiosks, boats for dolphin & whale watching, tour buses, Funchal Cathedral, cable cars and many very good restaurants. Air conditioning was excellent and very welcome in the 25+degrees of summer sunshine. We would definitely stay here again. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in this beautiful apartment. We hebben een heerlijke vakantie gehad op Madeira. Prachtig eiland,heel veel te doen. Appartement was super schoon. Fantastisch uitzicht. Claudia is een geweldige host die ons helemaal thuis heeft laten voelen. Ze stond altijd klaar voor vragen en advies. Raden Smiling Petals ook aan voor een perfecte vakantie op dit mooie eiland.

Claudia is a very accommodating host. She is very helpful and friendly. The apartment is as described and has everything it needs and a nice outdoor area. I personally was a bit cold as the May weather didn't quite do what it should, but a portable fan heater and a thick woolen blanket that was also on site did the trick. The apartment is not super soundproof which means that you sometimes here the other guests, which didn't bother me personally. As already described in other reviews, the entrance to the parking lot is very steep, but really doable and no worse than other roads on the island. I had a good time and can recommend it with a clear conscience. :)
