Charming private room in a farmhouse

Our farmhouse is situated at the famous black forest western hiking trail and on a hill with views overlooking three countries. Our guest room offers a small kitchen unit with a fridge where our guests can prepare breakfast and cold meals. There is no water supply in the bedroom but in the spacious bathroom opposite. You can find restaurants from vegan, traditional to haute cusine within a less than a mile. There are buses to Basel, Lörrach and Kandern. By car it takes 20 minutes to Basel.

Close to nature & stylish living in the old farmhouse

The apartment is in the small district of Karsau, which belongs to Rheinfelden (Baden). In an almost 200-year-old farmhouse overlooking our farm animals (horses/sheep/cat/dog/chickens) you can relax wonderfully. Basel can be reached in 20 minutes by car/train. Beuggen train station is within walking distance (1.5 km). Right next door is a children's playground and the forest with beautiful walking and cycling trails is a few minutes' walk away. The border triangle (Germany/France/Switzerland) is a special place and the apartment has a perfect connection to local and long-distance transport. By train, you can reach the heart of Basel in 15 minutes.

Alte Färberei Entire place

Die alte Färberei, eine Fabrikanlage aus dem 19. Jahrhundert, wurde für eine gemischte Nutzung ausgebaut. Neben Wohnungen, Werkstätten und Arztpraxis entstanden unter den Sheddächern der Fabrikhallen Gästezimmer. Es war uns ein Anliegen der alten Bausubstanz eine neue Nutzung zu geben und erlebbar zu machen. Wir konnten die Gebäudehülle komplett erhalten und erneuerte Bauteile in anderem Zusammenhang wieder verwenden. Neue Bauteile wurden naturbelassen.

Pfaffenberg is a small village at 700 meters above sea level above the Wiesen Valley with proximity to Switzerland and France. Our Black Forest house with a south-facing location offers up to three guests a cozy stay. The border triangle allows a variety of cultural and sporting leisure activities. I have traveled a lot myself, speak good German, English, French, Spanish and a little Italian and am always very happy about guests from near and far.

The apartment, renovated in 2023, was formerly an old bakery and is located on a 16th century farmstead. century in the core village of Efringen-Kirchen. After decades of neglect, it has been given a new shine piece by piece in recent years with loving attention to detail.
