Misty Mountain Hut-Ruapehu is located in the sleepy little village of Rangataua, 5 minutes distance to Mountain road going up to the Turoa skifield and Ohakune. The 1 bedroom colonial villa has a beautiful view of the mountain. Unlimited wifi and a new firebox with plenty of firewood and a heat pump ensure you are warm in winter. My favourite time here is summer for amazing walks/cycling up mountains to enjoy majestic views. Misty Mountain Hut supports local staff by paying $40/hr for cleaning.

Tau Studio - Boutique Accommodation

Perfect for couples. It is based in the lovely quiet village of Rangataua which is only a 5-minute drive to Ohakune township where there are plenty of cafes, restaurants and shops. The winter offers fantastic skiing and snowboarding, and summer offers lots of walks, mountain biking and fishing.

Please note this is a Historic Shearer's Quarters. If you have mobility issues please be aware there are no ramps and only steps.

There is a cycleway directly outside, easy access to the 'Manawhero River' Walking Track and a 1 minute drive to either the centre of town or the base of Mount Ruapehu. You will be staying in the character filled, old Kimbolton BNZ Bank (complete with teller box). This is a great Digital Nomad option - with ski fields within 2.5 hours. I live in the "Managers Quarters" which are through a door from the bank (the walls are very thick).
