Places to stay in Morris
This historic home was constructed between 1798 and 1810, and has been lovingly restored with modern comforts and amenities. It features two guest bedrooms, and a guest master suite. The property is two miles from Gilbert Lake State Park, and a short drive from Cooperstown and Oneonta. The property itself sits on 8 acres of open fields, out buildings, ponds, and shares a border with a stream with multiple beaver dams.
This room is decorated in true period Georgian colors, and outfitted with a full size bed, on an oak antique bed frame. The room has a single window with wooden shutters, and the bathroom with a clawfoot tub is directly across the hall.
The area is quiet rural countryside, with breathtaking views in all directions regardless of the time of year. It's minutes from Gilbert Lake State Park, and less than a half a mile from "Foolish Farms," which is a charming deli with fresh baked pastries made on site daily. Cooperstown is a 30 minute drive through scenic farmland, and Oneonta is 15 minutes away.
  • Charles was friendly and helpful and quick to respond to communication. His house was beautifully decorated and would be a great experience for any antique lover. The room was clean and comfortable, including the temperature even at this time of year.

  • The room was completely great. Very clean and a cool space in a very old farmhouse. It was the perfect, peaceful place to come back to after a wedding. Charles was really great about communication also. Would totally recommend.

  • The countryside is so beautiful. The house is amazing! The decorations and antiques are so interesting. The cat was also so friendly. I loved the farm too. I only spoke to Charles a couple times, and enjoyed the interaction. He was pleasant and thoughtful! I was there six days and loved it!

    Nathan2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our 1-night stay here. Charles definitely knows a lot about the local area. The room and bathroom were very clean. We got coupons for free coffee down the street in the morning. But the best part was the friendliest cat we got to meet.

  • Charles' place is a lovely 18th century home in the middle of a quiet street. The place is decked with artifacts and themed appropriately, taking you back a few years. Charles' is a great host and is super quick on responding to any queries you may have.

  • My work brings me to Oneonta several times a month and Charles’s place has been a reliable haven. I don’t review it every time I stay, but every time has been a pleasure.

    Jim2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • We came to Charles’ charming home in the middle of a snow storm and it was the coziest, most beautiful spot to be in the snow. Charles was always communicative and friendly, and the two rooms and bathroom were clean, beautifully decorated, and warm. It was simultaneously private but not too isolated. We couldn’t be happier! Highly recommend!

  • A lovely stay and a gracious host - highly recommended!

    Jon2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • This home was a true step back in time with all the modern comforts you would expect. The historic details that were included in the home made the stay seriously special! We stayed during the COLDEST days I have seen in years. (0-7 degrees) Stepping in from outside made us feel right at home, warm, and instantly welcomed. Charles was a fantastic host and I would HIGHLY recommend this location for your next stay!

    Sarah2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Charles is the perfect host. Warm, welcoming and easy to talk to. His Airbnb is its own museum. So many wonderful antiques to admire. As a photographer I want to revisit when the weather is warmer. Highly recommend!

  • Charles’ place was great! He was available at check in and gave us a fabulous recommendation for dinner. His farm is so interesting with all the antiques. It was an awesome place for our pup. She was able to run around after a lengthy car ride!

Just 10 minutes up the road from All-Star Village and 15 minutes the other direction to Dream Park. We have been renting to Baseball Families for over 10 years and provide all the comfort for home. Super fast internet is a must these days and we get the fastest you can from a cable provider.
Approximately 1 acre, large yard great for kids to run around and play. Dedicated fire pit area for the adults to unwind at night.
  • The house was great! Upon arrival we found the apartment comfortable, spacious, very clean and it had all the right amenities we needed for a week long stay. Super fast WiFi at the house and in the yard, thankfully because service up there on the roads is sparse!! The location to Cooperstown All-Star village was actually a very quick easy 10 minute ride, so simple and easy to get back-and-forth on bad weather days or if you wanted to take a break from the complex. Super easy to get to all the main attractions in downtown Cooperstown. The yard was great and clean, the neighbors were all quiet and everyone we met very friendly. Definitely would recommend!

A lovingly restored former servant's quarters, this little house is in a quiet country setting near a musical stream. With a kitchen, bathroom, cozy living room with a sofabed and a welcoming bedroom upstairs, this is a great place to feel God renewing your Spirit. Smoking and alcohol free.
This area was settled in the late 1700's. Both the main farm house and the little house are post and beam construction. The stream which flows around our yard goes under the barn and through the milk house. It was used to cool the milk in times past. Note: the little house has the original stairs up to the bedroom, which are steep and narrow. The ceiling is low near the walls as you can see from the pictures, and the bathroom is downstairs. Our dogs have an invisible fence which keeps them in the yard behind the big house. You're welcome to come over and visit with them. They will try to get you to throw their toy all day so that they can bring it back to you. Warning. The dogs are very friendly, but very big and very messy. They play in the stream and then come to greet you both wet and dirty!
This is a farming area. The farms are still small family farms and there are many Amish in the area. We believe we have some of the most beautiful scenery you can find. It' a mixture of hilly farms and forest. There are cows, horses, and sheep grazing in pastures. Deer and turkey are plentiful.
  • The little house was so charming and welcoming, you could feel the warmth and peace from the moment you walked in. I slept better than I had in a while. Ann goes the extra mile with the special touches! I would rather stay there than a 5 star hotel any day.

    Karin2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect place for a peaceful, relaxing weekend getaway. The house is charming and cozy, and the kitchen is well-stocked for light cooking. We would definitely stay here again!

    Ashley2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is just what everyone needs. The cottage is clean, fully stocked and quiet. Very easy to find. Host is very quick to respond to all communication.

    Tim2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay, and Ann & Ed are wonderful hosts. Loved the whole experience. And I had a little horseback riding lesson to boot!

    Terry2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place - really attractive, charming, comfortable, and surrounded by gorgeous countryside. Ann's hospitality was superb - great communication, easy logistics, and the little house was supplied with every amenity. Beware the *very* steep, narrow stairs - upstairs is quite roomy enough for two, but ceilings low. Trips down to the bathroom in the night and back up could be a challenge if you aren't very nimble. Fortunately we are all short and needed the workout getting up and down. Wifi was slow and cell service not great, but this is an excellent place to unplug and unwind. About a 30 minute drive to Cooperstown but don't let that put you off - it's some of the most beautiful driving ever. Highly recommend this place.

    Beth2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely quaint cottage, unique experience in the quiet countryside. Close to New Berlin with all amenities needed for an extended stay, or a 1 or 2 night trip. Loved staying here, it was my second trip and will stay here again!

    Jean2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Ann and her home were an absolute delight. The pictures truly do not do the beauty of this original craftsmanship home justice. We had an incredible time enjoying the sounds of the running creek through the open windows all around the house, playing with their two dogs- Mozzie and Buddy - and watching the love and care the family gives to their beloved horses. There are no words to express how thankful, blessed and fortunate we were to have stayed here. Thank you, Ann!

    Valerie2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • The little house was very very clean and charming. The upstairs was a little tough for my tall husband, but other than that, it worked really well for us. The farm atmosphere was something we enjoyed very much - it was worth the drive for us to have my granddaughter have such a great time with the animals. So, thank you so much.

Secluded spot on the hill above Chenango Lake in upstate New York. Easy access to lake and with lots of room for children to play. 19 acres mostly woods. Ham radio available. Please read full listing before booking!
This house, built in 1903 was owned and lived in by some influential people in the area. It has folklore associated with Lucille Ball owning it, certainly not true, but she stayed here at times. Kitchen facilities include two stoves, microwave, toaster and a Mr. Coffee. Please ask host to use washer and dryer. You supply your own laundry detergent. Linens and towels are provided and cleaned by host. Bedroom 3 is on the second floor, it has a queen bed and the use of a shared bathroom. Please check with the host as to available rooms when booking. Chenango Lake: This 133 acre lake is free for fishing (Statewide fishing regulations apply), wading, swimming and boating. There is a small public access to the lake, which in fact, is designated public assess in the deeds of this house. The house is not on the lake, which is roughly 500ft from the beginning of the 1/2 mile driveway, this is a beautiful walk. In February, when the Ice on the lake is thick there is Chenango Lake Perch Derby week. Winter: The house is open for rental all year round but please be aware high snow fall is possible during the winter months. The house has a long steep drive that is plowed. But be advised that a four 4 wheel drive vehicle is recommended! Or you can be adventuress and park at the bottom of the road and walk up! Amateur Radio: This is an excellent radio site as evidenced by the closest neighbor; a 300ft Tower installed by AT&T when land based microwave links provided much of the communications network. The tower is now used for the cellular system and the horns are just decoration. There is a station setup in the corner of the family room. The rig is an Elecraft K3s with a P3 pan-adaptor, KPA500 power amplifier and KAT500 antenna tuner. The antenna is a Steppir DB18 on the roof using a Green Heron rotor. The station is free for use by renters who provide proof of license for operation in the USA, it is off limits to those who do not hold an amateur radio license.
House is in a very private location. About a 10 Minuit walk to the lake, uphill walk back to house.
  • A beautiful place near Chenango Lake - rooms are spacious and the bed I had was great. Brian and Susan were lovely hosts.

  • A beautiful getaway for couples. My partner and I had a beautiful and cozy time here and felt just like home when we would get back from work. The kitchen was amazing to cook in. The bed was so so comfy. The lamps were a beautiful touch that gave off soft dim lighting when we wouldn’t want to overhead lights. Would definitely recommend and come back again :)

Rent a large, beautiful lake house with its own lake and nature sanctuary. Brand new with 4 bedrooms (incl. loft), 2 baths, kitchen, living room, handmade Amish woodwork. Sleeps 10 comfortably (14 w/air mattresses). Eco-friendly solar panels and geothermal HVAC, your own wildlife refuge and 1-mile path around Silver Lake in New Berlin. Includes a large yard, row boat, paddle board, sports equipment, fire pit, basketball court. Two-night minimum. (Sorry, not suitable for hunting trips.)
Silver Lake is a 12,000-year-old lake. It had a race track around it in the 1800s. (We found a half dime from 1847 when we were putting in the path.) It was also a Native American gathering place because it is so close to the Unadilla River.
It's very quiet. There are other cabins that have legal, deeded access to the lake, and a neighborhood behind them.
  • We had a FANTASTIC time, we didn’t want to leave! The house is beautiful, the pictures don’t do it justice... spacious, immaculate, and when the sunlight streams in first thing in the morning, it’s downright heavenly! We’re so happy with this stay, it really made for a perfect weekend. The open kitchen/dining room/living room was perfect for the 5 of us playing board games and snacking at night. Bill’s thorough notes and instructions were accurate, and informative... so much so, when I saw the neighbor’s dog approaching, I said “Hi, Sam!” This was really a great experience, and made the weekend really special for us.

  • We loved our stay here! The house is well stocked with amenities and things to amuse the kids. There was plenty of room for our group of 8. Our family thoroughly enjoyed waking up to the beautiful fall foliage and lake views. The walking path around the lake is perfectly peaceful. We are so glad that we chose this location for our family gathering this year!

A large dining table comfortably seats 6 and leather living room furniture (recliner, sofa and armchair) is centered around a wood burning stove and flat-screen TV with DirecTV, Xbox and Netflix, and library of DVDs. The first floor is complete with the master bedroom, which has a queen size bed, dresser, desk and closet, and full bathroom (accessed from hall, not an en-suite) with walk-in glassed shower and high efficiency washer and dryer. Light pine hardwood floors, walls, doors and ceilings throughout the living areas. Two sets of French doors open to the wrap-around deck, with picnic table for outdoor dining. Front door from the driveway and back door to the deck complete the main floor entrances. Up the half-log staircase there are two more ample bedrooms with queen beds, dressers and large closets, an open loft area with a sofa, chair and table for four, and full bathroom with a bathtub / shower. Bedding provided and additional in closets. Mountain views from the front bedrooms (master and 2nd bedroom) and wooded views from the back bedroom. All very quiet and secluded from every room! Fresh air outside and dairy farm next door! Please note the home does not have central A/C, but has several window units that can be used if needed. Not too often it is needed in this area, and the home stays very well insulated.
Set among rural farmland and rolling mountains, the log house is 14 minutes from downtown Norwich and near rte 8.
  • We had a fantastic girls weekend at Lynn's cabin. The cabin is very large and comfortable, with efficient heating and hot water, two full bathrooms, a working fireplace, and a large kitchen and family room for lounging, cooking, and spending time together. The views of sunrise/sunset over the nearby farm were pretty, and it was very quiet and peaceful. We had no trouble finding the cabin or checking in, everything was sparkling clean, and I feel completely satisfied with our experience. Highly recommended!

  • Lynn’s log cabin home is a beautiful respite. The house is well-appointed, with super comfortable beds, a well-stocked kitchen, and a cozy living area. Lynn was incredibly responsive and her neighbor, who helps manage the home, was very helpful and nice. We had a great few days of resting, playing in the snow and exploring the property, and enjoying home cooked meals and movies by the fire (there is a large selection of Blueray/DVD, and though the TV is had Netflix, we weren’t able to get that working). The location is very private, with gorgeous views from the house, yet stores and amenities are within a 10 minute drive. I do think it’s important to note that the driveway in winter can be a bit difficult to navigate without a 4-wheel drive. (We got help from the neighbors to get us up there!). It was a great stay and I would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing weekend away!

  • Lynn’s cabin is an awesome getaway. Secluded, mountain views and a truly cozy space. We had a great time relaxing, cooking, and basking in the warmth of the wood stove on a snowy winter weekend. The cabin is fully equipped with all the amenities needed for your stay. Would definitely recommend for anyone staying in the area.

  • We had a wonderful weekend at Lynn's beautiful cabin! It is very private and picturesque. It was very cold while we were there, so we were unable to enjoy the beautiful deck, but I'm sure it would be lovely in the warmer months. The beds were very comfortable! The kitchen was stocked with anything we needed, including coffee and K-cups. The WIFI did not work very well, but that can be expected in the area, and with the snowstorm we had. Lynn responded to any questions I had very quickly, and the check-in process using the lockbox was very easy. We would definitely stay here again!

  • Me and my boyfriend stayed here for a long weekend, drove all the way from Manchester by the sea, MA. (5.5 hour drive) and I can definitely say it was worth it! We both have very stressful jobs & busy and hectic work schedules and we were looking for something peaceful and cozy. Somewhere far enough away from home, that we really felt like we were away on vacation, but still driving distance. This place did not disappoint! It was such a warm, cozy place to really relax, shut off your phones, and enjoy yourself. The privacy was wonderful. But close enough to town, that you can go and grab some groceries. We had the wood burning stove going all weekend, and watched an array of movies! (Lynn has a wonderful selection of dvds, considering the tv was not compatible with Netflix) we had such a great time that last minute we decided to message Lynn and ask if we could stay another night. She gave us a discounted rate, and really was quick with any replies to questions or concerns that we had. We even found a place called animal adventure park, which was 45 min away in harpursville, NY. They had a Christmas light show with animals. We got to pet giraffes, goats, a yak, deer.... and even snuck a peek at a few sloths! (I cried) lol. I know this review is long but I really wanted to get my point across, to say what a wonderful experience we had! Well worth the $$ spent on the stay! Would recommend x10 :)

  • Lynn's home is in a beautiful part of up-state New York overlooking a tree flooded valley. Our group slept comfortably in the home with plenty of room for all 5 of us. Lynn was easy to work with and made an exception for our group which helped make the weekend a success for us. We did lots of cooking in the home and utilized the fully stocked kitchen without any issues. The only small knock was there was no firewood when we arrived and the pile in the yard was wet and uncut. We had to purchase an axe in the morning since there wasn't one available at the home to cut logs. Aside from that very minor issues we had a great stay and could tell that Lynn keeps the home very clean for her guests. Thanks again and we hope to be back soon!

  • Very peaceful setting with nice views. Driveway can be a little challenging on motorcycles.

  • Had a great stay here. Place was very clean. Stayed quite cool at night, with air conditioners available if necessary. Saw deer most days, plus turkeys. Great outdoors space for kids to play.

  • I really enjoyed my stay at Donna's house in Gilbertsville. The town is beautiful and the Elm Street Inn itself is placed on an idyllic street. The surrounding area is gorgeous with rolling hills and tons of state forests in the area to explore. Donna provided some extra hospitality during our longer stay by offering to turnover our rooms halfway through the trip, she also provided a variety of food and drink that was waiting for us when we checked in. Would absolutely recommend staying at the Elm Street Inn!

  • Absolutely amazing, “one of a kind” stay at Missy’s upper cabin. We absolutely loved the location right on the water. We stayed in October when it was chilly but we were able to easily start a fire out back with their firewood which was such a plus! We also were able to fish right off the dock with their fishing poles after we got fresh bait a few miles down the road. We can’t wait to go back in the summer to enjoy the paddle boards. The cabin itself is beautiful. Missy has everything you need in a kitchen, even the small things that you don’t think to bring. It was very warm and cozy inside. We cannot wait to go back during the summer and may even check out their lower cabin with my family next door. Thanks Missy!

  • Missy's cabin was a perfect choice for a secluded, city escape! Communication before arrival was excellent and we felt very welcome and at home in the upper cabin. Seasonal treats were a nice and much needed surprise after the drive. Especially appreciated the automatic outside light which helped navigate in the dark. Would love to come back in warmer months to enjoy the lake and back yard.

  • This place is amazing!!! It was so nice to get away from the real world when not watching my son play baseball at All Star Village. It was everything we could ask for and more. As soon as we walked in, the smell of the pine was amazing!!! Even without wifi/data we managed. We had a parent call us at the house if any of the schedule changed. So quiet and peaceful. Sitting in the sunroom at night with a few drinks listening to nature. My wife and I absolutely loved it!!!!

    David2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect retreat from the everyday! The location is beautiful, and the pond behind is just charming with the croaking frog, the ducks, the beaver and the occasional deer. The cabin has all the necessary amenities and then some. Chris has thought of everything you might need or want for your stay. The beds are very comfortable and the screened in porch is the ideal place to enjoy your morning coffee. Chris was a terrific host, and I would highly recommend this lovely cabin.

    Donna2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great cabin. Very clean. Awesome screened in deck with grill. Chris was very responsive.

    Robert2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is a great getaway if you are looking to relax and get away from society and technology as there is no cell service. I was a little iffy on it at first, but enjoyed sitting on the back enclosed porches and relaxing looking at the nature and the pond and just having no worries. My young kids (15 and 7) were bothered early too but adapted and loved it. This is a true chain with that rustic look and feel. Amenities were just as stated. Washer and dryer worked great (hot and cold are switched). Would recommend!

    Ben2019-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was nice. It had all that you would need except internet if you need that. We enjoyed the back porch having breakfast and a couple of dinners sitting out there. Our bed was comfortable. Everything was clean. Chris is easy to work with. He responds quickly if you have questions. Great place for relaxation.

  • Eileen and Robby go above and beyond!! The hot breakfasts made with all farm fresh ingredients were delicious. They have the kitchen well stocked with coffee, teas, hot cocoa, milk, half and half etc. Plenty of pots and pans too, whatever you need to cook a meal you will find there. The house is warming and spacious with plenty of space to spread out and relax. The views from the 2 mile walk up through their fields behind the house was amazing especially with all the fall foliage now. They had the fire pit all ready for us to just light with plenty of firewood too. Sitting around the fire listening to the creek that runs beside it was so relaxing. The house is spotless and we can’t wait to go back. Thank you Eileen and Robby for a great weekend with our Oneonta State soccer friends.

  • This darling cabin was even better than expected! Situated on beautiful Chenango Lake, the property is wonderful with a private dock, canoe, kayaks, and tubes. My kids never wanted to leave. Thanks Missy!

  • Beautiful location in the middle of an even more gorgeous of middle section of New York. If you're considering this place for a visit to Cooperstown then don't think twice about it! The drive isn't too long, and it's nice to have a residence to retreat back to offering lake activities.

  • Charlie’s historic and artistic home allowed my son and I get a good night’s rest on our way home from Stowe VT. The home was immaculate and clean and he was understanding of our later arrival.

    Dave2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome stay! Loved how it was tucked away in beautiful Mt. Vision. Charles was absolutely wonderful. His hospitality was great - he even made us tea at night.

    Amanda2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful host. It's very peaceful and serene. There is no breakfast provided but don't let that stop you from staying at at this location.

    Ashley2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking to disappear from the modern world while maintaining all the creature comforts you've become accustomed to, please look no further. Charles has left no stone unturned in his quest for modern comfort in a historical setting. Everything was exactly how we expected it to be based on the listing. The attention to detail is certainly second to none in this beautiful space. It truly was like turning back the clock. Book a stay and see for yourself.

    Chris2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • This place was such a nice get away. The home was warm and inviting. The house has a very nice vintage feel, but with modern comfort as well. It is clear Charles cares deeply about making his home a place to remember. (In a great way). Thanks Charles for a great stay, and for the great local recommendations! All the best, Obed

    Obed2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • The house is gorgeous. What we enjoyed most was Charles himself. He effortlessly accommodated any request, and was simply wonderful to be around. He made the stay feel like home (if home is a repository of rare books and antiques). Make friends with Vera; you’ll have a feline friend for life :)

    Ethan2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Located in the country but worth the trip to get to it. Beautifully decorated; the house is an antique in addition to the furnishings in it. Lots of intriguing details to investigate. Very restful location. Comfortable bed and new, clean bathroom made the stay relaxing. Would recommend this host (who communicates very well even at hellishly late hours) and his home to anyone.

    June2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Amazingly eclectic, historical farmhouse with more attention to detail than one could think possible. Charles was courteous with excellent communication and tips on how to get there. Great experience!

You are invited to relax at my secluded 2-story Log Home, a peaceful getaway in upstate NY in Norwich. You will have access to 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, kitchen, a living room, dining room, a loft, and a wraparound deck. Set off a quiet road on 25 private wooded acres. This home, built in 2013, has traditional pine throughout the indoors with modern features, including the granite and stainless kitchen, with island. 37 mi to Cooperstown, 27 mi to Oneonta, and 10 mi to Gilbertsville Farmhouse.
Inside the 2,000 sq ft log cabin, the chef's kitchen is complete with granite countertops, hickory cabinets and stainless appliances, including refrigerator, range, dishwasher and microwave. Center island with seating for two provides ample work space, as well as a gathering place during meal preparations. The open concept from the kitchen combines the dining and living rooms on the first floor. A large dining table comfortably seats 6 and leather living room furniture (recliner, sofa and armchair) is centered around a wood burning stove and flat-screen TV with DirecTV, Xbox and Netflix, and library of DVDs. The first floor is complete with the master bedroom, which has a queen size bed, full dresser/mirror, desk and closet, and full bathroom (accessed from hall, not an en-suite) with walk-in glassed shower and high efficiency washer and dryer.
Set among rural farmland and rolling mountains, the log house is 14 minutes from downtown Norwich.

  • Cute little cabin with plenty of space for family or friends. Just a short trip into town but far enough away to enjoy peace and quiet.

    Rhonda2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lynn’s cabin was absolutely beautiful! It was super clean and the views were totally amazing. The beds were all comfortable. The kitchen was equipped with anything you would need. It was a quiet get a way in the country for sure. The only down side was that there was no working WiFi. Although this cut us off from the world it actually provided no outside distractions that made us enjoy our family visit even more. Thank you Lynn!

    Eileen2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house! My friends and I stayed here for two nights for a friend's wedding at the Gillbertsville farmhouse nearby. It was perfect, very close to the wedding venue, and the area around the house is just stunning. The house is lovely, spacious, had everything we needed and had a beautiful view from every room. Lynn was very helpful throughout the booking and check in process, thank you for a fabulous stay Lynn!

    Sharone2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great cabin for a getaway! The house is not far from downtown Norwich, and Lynn has everything you need to make you feel at home. Good pressure in the showers, which was great! Light a fire and get away from it all at Lynn's place.

1200 sq ft Craftsman home, 1 mile from All-Star Baseball Camp. Lovely front deck with wicker furniture & grill for BBQs and a lush back yard with picnic table for relaxing. The house is modern in decor, but still has some lovely old accents, such as the home's original claw-foot tub. Excellent pizza is a 500 yd walk away, Gilbert Lake with its beautiful walking path, boating, beach, & swimming area is a 10 min drive; Oneonta public swimming pool, grocery stores, & Neawha Park are 5 min away.
This is a family neighborhood that is safe and quiet. We are very close to some beautiful areas to spend time - only 20 minutes to Cooperstown, but also very close to beautiful Gilbert Lake. We are near the west end of Oneonta that has several play parks and wonderful food, including the Undercover Eggplant - don't miss it! It's the best deli outside of NYC! Take away or sit-in service for soups and sandwiches that are so enormous, they are 2 meals! Vegan and GF options there and at the wide variety of restaurants in town, such as Simply Thai, the Yellow Deli, the B-Side (a bit more adult - great cocktails and live music), and the Autumn Cafe. I can't recommend the garbage wings (terrible name, but delicious sauce) at The Depot enough - and Wednesday is wing night! Also Brooks BBQ is good enough that people drive from all over to eat here - get the half chicken dinner - you won't be disappointed. You also have access to our grill, if you want to head to any of the 4 supermarkets in town (Hannaford, Price Chopper, Walmart, Aldi), and bring home steaks, seafood or Spiedies. These are a local hit - you can this chicken already marinaded from the store (Price Chopper's is best) and serve it up on Italian bread with creamy Italian salad dressing drizzled on top. Great Ice cream at the Golden Guernsey or if you want to travel a bit further away, the best ice cream and a beautiful mountain view at the Polar Bear Ice Cream shop on the road to Walton. Don't feel stuck with all the other baseball families - there are some realhidden gems around these small towns, like the authentic English pub in Hobart, The Bull and the Garland. Or head up to Fly Creek and go to the cider mill - a great day out for family and good food. They have picnic tables by a lake and dozens of kinds of ducks and geese there to feed. Tip: go inside and buy a cup of corn to feed them - cheaper than out of the dispenser at the lake. There is TV in the house and access to Netflix, but there is also a movie theatre in town if you need an evening's family entertainment. If you are dying for a coffee or a nice breakfast, try the Latte Lounge - next door is the Green Toad bookstore. Or, head up to the SUNY Oneonta Campus. There is a Starbucks inside the Union and a large lake (shaped like NY State) full of Koi; you can sit outside in the sun on the massive deck and feed the fish. I have a large container of fishfood on top of the piano - feel free to use it. Classes are out of session and you will have a chance to get away from the crowds.
  • Great place near Cooperstown field. Perfect for families. Kitchen is very well stocked and April was an excellent host. Clear communication, easy checkin and great tips for the area. Would highly recommend for families taking in Cooperstown!

  • April was amazing! Just minutes from Cooperstown All Star Village this was the perfect place for our week of baseball! There were notes all over the house to help us and also to tell us the history of the house which was very neat! She was super quick to respond to our questions and her neighbor was there to help! Everyone was hospitable, giving local tips for dining and entertainment. Hopefully in 4 years when my youngest comes to Cooperstown to play we will stay here again!

Gilbertsville is one of only two villages in New York on the National Historic Registry. We are very proud of our beautiful village, and the many interesting types of architecture to be found here. The residents of our village are very friendly and welcoming.
  • Cozy and comfortable, it's home away from home. We love staying at the Signature! Cheri is a wonderful host!

    Abby2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at Cheri's place very much. It is quite large and comfortable and very convenient if you are visiting in Gilbertsville. The refrigerator is stocked plus snacks and treats abound! We particularly enjoyed the home made pumpkin bread that Cheri had left for us! We would stay here again.

    Connie2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely appartment with 2 bedrooms and an ample seating area. Very well suited for a family. There is breakfast available and a lovely kitchen with utensils that make you feel right at home. Cheri reacts very quickly. I had a wonderful time.

    Rickie2019-12-05T00:00:00Z
  • This was our third time staying at Cheri's, and won't be our last. It's the best place to stay in the area. Cheri thinks of everything and makes our stay very comfortable.

    Ashley2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was perfectly styled for the environment in which it sits. A quaint space in a gorgeous village with history inside the space and out. Do yourself a favor and read the names all over the beautiful quilt to feel yourself thrown back into time. Cell service is spotty in the village but the internet provided by the host was fast and easy to log in. I would recommend this stay to anyone looking to get out of the city and into a beautiful place with beautiful scenery. Not to mention the fact that the host responds quickly, is polite and easy to communicate with and who stocks all kinds of snacks (a godsend when you're absent minded and travelling with both a dog and children.

Secluded spot on the hill above Chenango Lake in upstate New York. Easy access to lake and with lots of room for children to play. 19 acres mostly woods. Ham radio available. Please read full listing before booking! Bedrooms 1, 3, and 4 are also available see other listings.
Bedroom 2 is on the second floor and has use of a shared bathroom. It has a queen bed.

The great room features stunning views of the hayfields, long dining table that seats 6, two sliding glass doors that open onto the 20 ft deck with wrap around porch. The deck is a favorite location for sunrises, family dinners cooked on the gas barbeque grill and served outdoors at the picnic table, and star gazing in the comfortable patio furniture. The deck over looks the large well maintained lawn perfect for a family game of Wiffleball, sledding down the hill during the winter months, or lounging on a blanket under the stars. The family room on the lower level is a cozy spot to curl up with a book, play board games, or catch a glimpse of wild turkey, deer, or rabbits crossing the hayfields to the woods.
