The market house is a historic gem and is protected as a monument, designated as the first hostel in Saxon Switzerland. The house frames the market square in the reflection of the market church below the castle ruins on the romantic Painter's Way. Vaulted cellar and foundations date back to 1527. The main house was built in 1734 and operated as a relaxation area, a post office and a tavern. In 1850, a massive extension in the classicist style took place. The apartment on the top floor is truly unique. It is located on the second floor and and the entire place has been restored to original building. The original roof wooden frame, exposed brickwork, original flooring, fully functional wooden stove helps you to imagine what people lived like at the beginning of last century.
