Holiday rentals with a kayak in Schoolcraft County

Amazing views, great beach access, cozy house decor, peaceful atmosphere, and close to attractions that we wanted to see!

Beautiful house, extra amenities not listed in description. The beds were super comfortable, plush towels, kitchen was well stocked with pots & pans. Modern appliances and lots of space. We had a beautiful fire one evening. Would have gone kayaking but wasn't sure we would be able to get out of them w/o tipping over into the water. Lol. (There isnt a beach.) It was lovely looking out over the river. We enjoyed waking to the birds and watching the mist rise over the river. Unfortunately, "they" were tearing up the road to repave it when we arrived, so it wasn't the peaceful environment we were looking for. It was loud and so disruptive, the whole house would shake, and this went on over several days. Not much the hostess can do about that, of course, but very disappointing as my sister is recuperating from a serious illness. All in all, we would probably rent again if the need ever arose as the house and being on the river was beautiful.

This property is not to be missed if you want a private, peaceful getaway on a beautiful sand beach. The weather we enjoyed was perfect and the sunrises and sunsets were beyond AMAZING!! At night, the stars lit up the sky as we sat on the beach by the firepit and just relaxed while reviewing our day. There is a grocery store and some restaurants in Manistique for food, about a 12-15 minute drive. Nice central location to explore and we were able to make day trips to Pictured Rocks, Marquette, Mackinac Island, and some other local attractions. The kitchen is well stocked and appliances are new, beds are comfortable with good linens, home is very clean, downstairs is cozy, upstairs is bright and light. No AC and we did have to break out the fans in the master which gets the most sunlight, but the cool nights would cool things down again. Highly recommend and would stay again!!

We have waited for this house to come available for almost 30 years and it did not disappoint!!! Sarah and Bob are amazing to work with and the house is a hidden gem deep in the woods. The house has everything you need for a long stay. The Wi-Fi is high speed and the smart Tv is easy to work with. The views are picturesque and endless. It is close to a ton of riding trails and the thunderbowl. There is 35 lakes within 20 miles of this house and the best fishing river for browns and brook trout just down the road a mile. This is a must stay for the area!!!

We enjoyed our time in the north woods. Beautiful views from the decks. The house was well kept, very comfortable accommodations, and well stocked with pots/pans/utensils, as we prepared all our own meals. Did not use grill, but propane was available. Wifi met everyone's needs. Would stay again.

We very much appreciated the property with the beach, the fire pit with supplied wood, and kayaks/paddleboard.

The view was incredible! We really enjoyed the large windows in the living room that let us soak in the view of the lake every day. It was quiet and calm—most days we were the only people on the beach. There were lots of things to do including kayaks and a paddle board. We had a great time!

This is such a hidden gem! The house is clean, the beach feels completely private, and there is so much to see within driving distance. We had a great time and plan to come back!

We stayed here for a family snowmobile weekend in February and it was exactly what we wanted. Very nice place right on the lake and close to the snowmobile trail. Close to Midway General Store and a short drive to Kitchitikipi and Munising. Loved the Knotty Pine and Up North feel of the cabin. Jacqueline was very responsive and left detailed directions and recommendations. Would highly recommend.

This home is absolutely beautiful, and has a lot of amenities right there for you. 3 families were on this vacation 6 adults and 3 children and there was plenty of room and activities to do for all of us. The kitchen is fully stocked with utensils, pots pans and even spices. We always bring our own but it was an added bonus, some BNBs are flvery frugal. There was even a washer and dryer available which was so nice to use. Overall this place was a absolutely beautiful and we would stay again, maybe a little further in the summer to get in the lake more, the shallow waters and tide pools were amazing to walk in and explore. We saw so many tadpoles and even found a salamander. Our vacation was so lovely. This place is full of amenities, space to hang out and tons of property to explore.

We can’t recommend Nicholas’s place highly enough! Other than bugs—which are just part of the UP experience—everything was FANTASTIC! (And they had a can of complimentary Deep Woods Off, for which we cannot thank them enough.) We spent time in kayaks every day, enjoyed the complimentary treats, slept well in the comfy beds, and wished we managed to keep our own home so spotless! The house is very convenient to Pictured Rocks, Kitch-iti-Kipi, and other attractions as well.

We stayed in Keith's place from 09/28 to 10/05 2024. That was our third happy return to Ostrander Lake Oasis. The house is very welcoming and well maintained. Everything is in a very good condition and views are amazing. We had great time on a property. The weather was very warm so we had some fun on a lake riding paddle bike and kayak. In the evening we sat around fire making s'mores ,telling stories and do some stargazing . In a cabin we played games (there are lots of them there) . So it is always lots to do on a property, and It is close to Munising, Sand Point (another beautiful beach) and Pictured Rocks - about 30 minutes of driving, which is very convenient. We stayed in different places in UP before we finally found Keith's property, and now we stopped looking . We found everything we need for great vacation : clean, well equipped and welcoming house, beautiful views, friendly hosts that are always very easy to reach. Thank you Keith and Patricia! Our group of 9 enjoyed our stay. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to cook with and clean with. The house was clean, beds were comfortable, and the space was cozy. Enjoyed all of the lake activities provided for us including boats. Neighbors are friendly. Lots of seating. Cabin was perfect for our group with teenagers and kids. No problems with hot water. Make sure to follow the owners driving directions and don’t count on your GPS WiFi was AMAZING- we had numerous devices connectioned and had no issues. Highly recommend but you must be comfortable in a remote area.

I cannot recommend Erika's lake house in Manistique, MI enough. From the moment we booked, Erika was incredibly responsive and accommodating. The cabin itself was spotless and had all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. The highlight of our trip was definitely the kayaking on the lake. The peaceful surroundings and crystal-clear waters made for a relaxing and memorable experience. We also enjoyed spending evenings by the campfire, roasting marshmallows and stargazing. The secluded location of the cabin made it feel like we were truly getting away from it all. Overall, our stay at Erika's lake house was nothing short of perfect. We left feeling rejuvenated and grateful for the opportunity to experience such a beautiful and peaceful setting. We will definitely be returning in the future. We had a great stay at Debra's place! The location was awesome being right on the beach and the views were spectacular. The cottage itself was spacious and clean, with plenty of sleeping and lounging areas. The outside deck was perfect for hanging out and dining. There is an abundance of water toys, games etc. This was one of the best equipped rentals we've stayed in. Everything we needed was there. All in all a perfect trip. 5 Stars all the way!

Angela and JD were fantastic to stay with! They are always available if anything is needed, and are just great people as well. They are ideal hosts, and it was a pleasure to book with them. Angie alerted us to a left behind belonging that was discovered by the cleaning crew, and coordinated with us to ensure we got it back while we were still local after check out. Our family fell in love with the grounds, vibe, and the perfect mix of classic rustic North Woods aesthetics with perfectly appointed modern updates.

Our stay was wonderful! The lake view was peaceful and beautiful to see first thing in the morning. The hosts were also incredibly helpful during and leading up to the trip. Would recommend!
