Bananarama Cottage, Black Sand Beaches, A/C

ElisaRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
The Bananarama Cottage is the coziest place we've stayed at so far. Rob and Bob welcomed us with a delicious loaf of bread and a piece of cake from their own bakery. They are incredibly kind and welcoming hosts. The cottage is beautifully furnished, and we didn’t miss a thing. After three months of traveling, this was the perfect place to slow down and recharge. The proximity to Volcanoes National Park is great, and the whole area offers plenty of opportunities for activities. We would come back anytime and can highly recommend it to everyone.

What a beautiful and peaceful place to stay. My mom and I really enjoyed the surroundings and the wonderful hosts. We appreciated Kayo and Roby allowing us to have our working dog stay with us at the rental. We hope to visit again in the future.

Aolani Coffee Cottage | #1 AirBnb | Condé Nast| AC

MarkRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Fantastic stay - best place to stay on the Big Island! What an amazing location, with a fantastic view! Private and relaxing, looking out onto coffee trees and the ocean. The place is everything that's promised and more. Great kitchen for cooking dinner if you don't feel like going out, an amazing outdoor shower, a GIANT TV for the times you want to just relax, and outdoor space that's private and tranquil. Everyone I communicated with was immediately responsive, and had suggestions for places to go (especially coffee farms), and responded very quickly. I can't recommend this place enough - we may be coming back again and staying here if it's available again! PS - the frogs: some people may love them, some may not like the noise. I didn't mind them at all at night, and had a white noise app in case they were very vocal (especially after the rain). Never did see one. Oh! And considering it's in the upcountry, no bugs/minimal wildlife, nothing to stress you out!

Coffee Farm Retreat

AmyRating, 5 stars1 week ago
This property and its hosts are something special. It is not, nor does it claim to be, a luxury property. If you want resort amenities, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a genuine feel for living on Hawaii, with a side of truly generous and friendly hosts, you have found your spot! Don't be afraid of the road. We rented a Nissan Rogue and had no issues. Take it slowly, watch for animals, potholes, and falling fruit, and you'll be fine. The property at the end of the journey is worth it! There is a lot of space to spread out in the house, and room to wander on the farm, with magnificent views from everywhere. The house is comfortable and has everything you need, and more. You won't find a more peaceful place to stay, and you won't find hosts that more perfectly personify ALOHA. They are available and excited to share their piece of paradise. We would definitely stay here again for the location, the landscape, the comfort, and (especially) the hosts.

Country Cottage

JacobRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
My wife and I had a wonderful 9 day honeymoon exploring the big island. Beautiful sunsets, spacious accommodations and friendly hosts awaited us whenever we returned from our adventures. Close proximity to local beach, shopping, and restaurants made things easy. Could not have worked out better for what we wanted. Thank you Deb and Bob for being so hospitable. We hope to visit again someday.

Amazing views of the ocean from the lanai—enjoyed the bird songs, frog mating calls, zealous baby chicks, protective hens, friendly neighbor dog—and comfortable lodging for 3 adults. Really appreciated being able to borrow the beach towels, beach chair/umbrella and cooler too.

Private Paradise Organic Farm Stay with Ocean View

KathyRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Charming, peaceful, and full of character, this farm stay in Kona was a perfect retreat. The setting was lush and serene, with cozy accommodations and a sweet resident cat who made the experience even more special. We loved the quiet, natural surroundings and appreciated the thoughtful touches from the host. A lovely spot to unwind and enjoy a more local, down-to-earth side of the Big Island.

Charming 2-bedroom cottage with large screened lanai and unique view of Kealakekua Bay

BeckyRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Our stay at the farm was wonderful - beautiful, peaceful surroundings. The bed was comfy, the kitchen was well appointed, and the screened in lanai was a fabulous place to gather, watch the sunset, and relax. Not a big deal , but the tv is in the bedroom, so watching a family movie is difficult. There was an ample supply of snorkeling gear, a cooler, and boogie boards, which we much appreciated. Rivah and Johan couldn’t have been more pleasant and accommodating. They’re great people, and they roast some delicious coffee beans. Thanks, Rivah and Johan, for sharing your paradise with us.

Eco-Farm Tropical Modern Loft

AlexRating, 5 stars5 days ago
We didn’t want to leave! This was our home base while we waited for Kīlauea’s magical eruption, which was incredible! Our week long stay in this contemporary jungle loft was tropically tranquil and serene. We made breakfast with the coffee, honey, spinach and eggs that were provided by our host which was all farmed right there on the waterfarm! A truly farm to table experience. Our favorite part was making meals and eating out on the lanai and making friends with all of the geckos. In the evening, you can hear them making their calling sounds, and it is truly other worldly. You definitely need a car as Pahoa is about 20ish minutes away and Hilo is about an hour, so stock up on groceries if you’re staying a while. We went to Kehena black sand beach almost everyday, made some friends and got invited to see the famous Ledward Kaapana play at Kaleo’s Grill. The waterfarm was truly an authentic and off the beaten path way to experience the big island, and we loved every minute of it!

Cozy Retreat w/ Hot Tub on Historic Homestead

AshleyRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Sally's place did not disappoint--we so enjoyed being tucked away on the Big Island. There were plenty of nearby hikes and outdoor activities. It was also incredibly easy to just stay put and relax. We used the spot to get around to various locations on the island. We also had no issues driving back at night. Super great touches we appreciated, like having water shoes, snorkeling gear, and a cooler (all things we ended up using!). Appreciated the flexibility using the shared laundry machines. Sally also proactively offered a later check out on our last day since there was no on checking in. We hadn't planned on lingering, but ended up spending a little more time with our coffee next to the pond that morning!

Chameleon Suite Ocean Views Kitchen Volcano NP

JeffreyRating, 5 stars4 weeks ago
If you want peaceful, beautiful, far from the crazy crowds of Kailua accommodations, Glenn's charming Chameleon Suite is for you. He is an attentive and very informative host, whocan provide you with a wealth of knowledge about sites to see and dinning options. Everyplace that we eat at that he recommended were superb. He is a botanical wizard whose land is truly a garden of earthly delights. Be prepared to do some driving to reach some of the attractions and dining spots, but it is well worth it. We would love to return.

NEW 2 bedroom hosted Tranquil Island Getaway

EricRating, 5 stars3 days ago
We stayed at the Ranch for a solid week. This place is so nice and peaceful, the sounds of the frogs and the crickets lull you to sleep. The beds are comfortable and it had all amenities you could want. The way it is situated it has a nice ocean breeze that constantly keeps the place at the perfect temperature all time. When we arrived, we were greeted by the pups who would check up on us regularly during the trip. Dino would even come in for a short visit. The cows were great to visit throughout the day. They love the Ti leaves and there’s so many plants to pick and feed them. Deborah and Steve live on the property, and it’s like having the best neighbors ever. Never felt like they were to close but they were always there to help and guide. They are such amazing hosts, for sure the best hosts I’ve come across in all my travels. There is no doubt when we return to Hilo we will be staying at the Broken Dog Ranch and if there is no availability we will be just going up to say hi!!

Holualoa Country Home

LonnyRating, 5 stars2 months ago
A quiet, cool spot to get away from the crowds and beach area. We enjoyed the temp drop when you climb in elevation to the house. The area seemed very safe and I never worried about theft or trouble. Nice area with nice people around the house. You will be about 20 minutes from Costco and are at a central starting point to go north or south. We didn't spend a whole lot of time at the house other than to sleep and be out enjoying the Big Island.

Beautiful Home With Private Pool on Kealakekua Bay

ColleenRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We had a lovely stay at Mary’s place. The home is nestled in a lush, serene setting and was fully equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable visit. Mary and her property manager were responsive, helpful, and accommodating. We loved relaxing by the pool and taking evening walks to catch the sunset over the ocean at the nearby park. The kitchen was a joy to cook in, and we loved the open-air layout—it felt like a home away from home. Waking up to the sight and sounds of the ocean from the upstairs bedroom is something we’ll miss. Thank you, Mary, for graciously sharing your beautiful space with us! The memories our family made at this home are something we'll always hold dearly.

Ocean Views on the Lava's Edge at Pohoiki Kipuka

MistiRating, 5 stars1 week ago
This was such an amazing little place to stay! The space was adorable and well thought out. It looked like it could be in an interior design magazine! The hosts were super friendly and helpful. Even though they are on site, the suite felt very private. We were met with an awesome spread of fresh fruits that are grown on the farm when we arrived. We were given a tour and written instructions on the history of the lava fields and the farm. Make sure to take Sev up on the farm tour! He will give you a fun history lesson on the lava flow, history of the island and the vegetation. You’ll learn about the things grown on the farm and get to sample some delicious products from the farm’s kitchens. It’s a bit of an adventure to get to the farm, but the directions are easy to follow. It’s a bit off the beaten path, but it’s well worth the drive!

Such a cute home. Very clean and peaceful. Dogs allowed and welcome. We stayed there and drove into Hilo (30min drive) for a dinosaur exhibit, Merrie Monarch festivities, and Akaka falls. We brought food to cook one night and got take out from Hilo the other night. Great kitchen to cook in. My 5yo son loved the BIG shower head!
