"De Gulle pracht" Holiday home, Friesland

Our cozy vacation cottage, originally was an old stable that we (Caroline and Jan) converted together, with lots of love and respect for the old details and materials, into this "Gulle Pracht". Through a private driveway with parking, you reach the terrace with the spacious garden, a lawn with surrounding tall trees, where you can enjoy. Through the two French doors, you step into the bright and cozy living room with the white old beams and a fully equipped open kitchen. There is wireless internet available, TV and DVD. Because of the ceiling in the living room that has been removed, beautiful light falls in from the skylights and you have a view of the roof structure with the old round hoods. The beds are located on top of the two lofts. The comfortable double bed is accessed by an open staircase. The other loft, where a third or fourth bed can possibly be made, is only accessible by flexible guests via a ladder. It is not suitable for small children because of the danger of falling, but older children find it exciting to sleep there. Please note, the two lofts share the same large open space. Under the old beams, you can sleep peacefully, where only the sound of rustling trees, whistling birds or your deliciously snoring bedmate will be heard. The room is heated by central heating, but also only the wood-fired stove can heat the cottage comfortably. You will be provided with enough wood from us to start a cozy fire. Through an old stable door in the living room, you come to the bathroom with beamed ceiling and underfloor heating. The bathroom has a good shower, double sink and toilet. With its inlaid mosaics and all kinds of funny and old details, this space is also a feast for the eyes. There are two bicycles available for nice trips in the wider area (Harlingen, Franeker Bolsward). We may want to drop you off in Harlingen for a crossing to Terschelling. You can leave the car in our yard for a while. We, ourselves, live in the farmhouse which is in the same yard. We are available for help, information and advice for fun trips in our beautiful Friesland. Your cottage and our farmhouse are separated by our garden and the big old barn (with pool table), so we both have our own space and privacy. Kimswerd, located on the eleven city route is a small, quiet and beautiful village where our Frisian hero "de Grutte Pier" was born and lived. He still watches over us, in petrified form, at the beginning of our little street, next to the centuries-old Church, which is very much worth visiting as well. You can do your shopping in Harlingen, the supermarket is a fifteen minute bike ride away. The old port of Harlingen is 10 km from our cottage. Kimswerd is located just across the Afsluitdijk. From there, follow the signs N31 Harlingen/Leeuwarden/Zurich and take the first exit at Kimswerd, 1st right at the traffic circle, 1st right again at the next traffic circle, straight ahead at the intersection, across the bridge and immediately take the first left (Jan Timmerstraat). At the beginning of this street, next to the church, stands the statue of the Grutte Pier. We live in the farmhouse behind the church, Jan Timmerstraat 6, first wide gravel path on the right. - For small children, sleeping on the loft without a fence is not advisable because of the danger of falling. It's just fun for big kids, the loft is accessible by a ladder. Please note, it is 1 large open space upstairs with no privacy.

The old labor house 1525.

The farmworkers house is a historic building formerly occupied by large families who were employed by the farmer. Everything is still in its original state. Experience for yourself how these people used to live and enjoy the authentic atmosphere of this ancient house. The house offers plenty of space for 10 people and is fully antique furnishings. It has lots of atmosphere and is also equipped with all the modern things and comfort DOWNSTAIRS There are three living areas downstairs. In the kitchen can be extended cooked and eaten, but it is also a very nice place to spend the evenings. Nice and warm beside the Aga cooker can socialize late into the evening and linger long. Put beautiful music and plug in the winter once the fireplace. The living room with sliding doors separate the kitchen. Here you can plop on the couch and watch TV. In the sitting room there are also the two bedsteads. The bedsteads are wonderfully cozy and atmospheric, you dream you back in time. The dining room has a large table for 10 persons. TOP Upstairs are three bedrooms. 2 rooms have 3 single beds and 1 bedroom has a 2 persons bed. The rooms are spacious and bright, around old stable windows that you can open. These windows offer views over the pastures with farms, you can see far into the typical expansive environment that only knows as Friesland. Wake up to birdsong and sounds of farm animals is a unforgettable experience. All rooms are equipped with professional fans. There is room enough for possibly a 2nd cot. The house may be less suitable for people who are badly injured. The house knows a few steps and steep ladders. discuss this with your traveling companions. OUTSIDE The farmhand house is surrounded by nature, you will find yourself between the farms and pastures. There is a terrace to have breakfast with the morning sun from the east. The large garden with picnic table located behind the house and is oriented to the west that the evening sun. The village has a children's playground and a phalanx at the bridge you can rent a canoe or a boat. Here you can swim and eat ice cream. The tourist office is also there. Look for information about what to do in the neighborhood.

In the water sports village of Terherne on the Sneekermeer. The Kameleon adventure park, cafe, restaurants and the most beautiful church/wedding location in Friesland are just around the corner. You sleep on the ground floor (2 bedrooms + private bathroom + private kitchen + private large living room (50 m2) with high ceilings and fireplace. Private entrance. 3rd bedroom is upstairs via the front house. Outside by the water, your own terrace. Also suitable for group work with a large work table. Vintage, so beautiful, old and cozy. But not spotless.

It's a new double apartment. It is an upper floor, with an easy and safe to enter wide staircase and a private entrance. You have no neighbors downstairs. It has a spacious balcony, where you can enjoy the beautiful views. In front of the house is a lake. It is located near to the Elfsteden town of Workum. Partly known for the Jopie Huismanmuseum. Also for kite-surfers it is nearby the Ijsselmeer. From this apartment you can enjoy beautiful cycling or hiking,or relax and enjoy.
