La Gîte de la Douane

Formerly a Belgian customs post, this long-abandoned property has been completely renovated with passion and respect for its original architecture, to become a contemporary, bright, and comfortable cottage in the heart of nature. It offers a unique setting to unwind, breathe, and reconnect with what matters most. A unique place steeped in history, just 100 meters from the French border, located on an ancient Roman road and in the heart of an area marked by the Battle of Malplaquet.

Beautiful industrial loft totaly restaured. Located in our house, the loft is completely private, you share the entrance hall and the backyard with us. The loft features 1 kitchen 1 huge bedroom with a 1m80 width bed and a mezzanine with the sitting-room view. There is a also a cosy reading corner and a beautiful brand new bathroom with an italian shower. 65 square meters in total with air conditioning. Access to the jacuzzi is optional for 20€ bathrobes included.

Located 500 m from the D649 road and at the entrance to the Avesnois Regional Park, the accommodation offers all the amenities you need for a pleasant stay. You will be 5 minutes from Maubeuge, 20 minutes from Mons and Valenciennes, 45 minutes from Lille, and 1 hour from Brussels. A parking space is available in front of the property, and there is also the option to store bicycles in our garage.
