“This place is beyond amazing... the cleanest, well decorated and well-stocked place we have ever stayed in. She had fresh eggs, cereals, milk, condiments, fresh pastries... this beyond the amazing views from both the kitchen window and the bedroom window were more than we expected. They gave us valuable hiking advice and we took it... this is the cleanest place I have ever seen,”

“I spent two nights here alone for my birthday and absolutely adored my stay at this extraordinary place in my little hut overlooking the sea. Having said that, I recently spent five weeks in the forest sleeping in a tent—no I’m not kidding😜. When you book Peter’s “little nest” or “bed in a shed,” (more accurately stated), you are headed towards a truly unforgettable experience that will either make you the better or worse for it. It all depends. However, since I’m writing this review, I’m obligated to share a few insights: Firstly, the accomodations are more camping out than glamping. I never used the outdoor shower at the beach due to the windy and rainy weather, but, it is neither private nor easily accessible. It’s on the way down the steps to the beach and mostly exposed if someone were to walk by. Also, there are no mirrors at either of the outdoor sinks or the outhouse style bathroom, so you may want to bring one along to check your face. Secondly, I read the other reviews cautioning about the narrow county road leading to Atlantic Bay Rest, lined with rocks, thorny sticker bushes and pot holes. It was much worse than I expected! I drove a mid-sized Volvo XC-60 and even with my side mirrors folded in, I could not avoid scratching the car’s paint and finish. Be warned; this road is only suitable for sub-compact vehicles in my opinion. That said, you will likely not want to leave. I felt as though I had entered through an inter-dimensional portal to Ireland’s ancient past. The beach is covered in lavender hued sand the likes I’d never before seen. Fantastic sea caves beckoned with their linear shaped rock formations that reminded me of the crystals I brought along as meditative tools. Other-wordly, neon green seaweed appearing as long, neatly combed hair adorned the rocks, while seagulls amused by circling overhead. I was lulled to sleep by the sounds of the sea lapping below my perch and visions of mermaids and dolphins meeting me in my dreams. In summary, the Atlantic Bay Rest experience was a gift to my soul—one of unbridled nature and breathtaking beauty. It will forever leave an imprint upon me. Perhaps the ideal antidote to these troubling times that is gauranteed to rejuvenate while suspening all your worldly cares. Highly recommend!”

“The hideaway was so cosy and homely. We arrived to freshly baked cake and ciders chilling in the fridge, as well as the fire on! The location of Ballyferriter is brilliant with a lovely backdrop and only half an hours walk if you fancy a drink in the local pubs. We also walked upto the Star Wars film location which had breathtaking views. Definitely recommended a lovely stay here. Super clean, cosy and such a peaceful place!”
