The best restaurants, Whole Foods Market, shopping, the Malibu Pier, and water sports are within easy walking distance. There are several restaurants, shopping, bike/surf rentals, fishing, swimming, surfing, paddleboarding and much more within walking distance. There is public transportation via bus, taxi or personal auto. Santa Monica is only 11 miles and Venice just 13. Santa Monica pier is just over 11 miles, Venice is a little more than 13 miles, centrally located it provides easy access to the the famous Highway 1 (pacific coast highway).
