Bed and breakfast holiday rentals in City of Colchester

Such a beautiful home and a real treat to be able to stay there, offered a very relaxed atmosphere with great amenities and a very lovley breakfast Sophie and her husband were very welcoming and so accommodating especially as we had delays on our journey and arrived much later than planned. I was travelling with friends to enjoy an evening at Newmarket Racecourse and we all enjoyed our stay very much and said we would definitely come back again

Me and my best friend came and had a lovely stay with my dog. We felt right at home very quickly and are already talking about coming back! The food was beautiful, the surroundings were perfect, it was so peaceful. Louise & Hugh were really friendly and easy to get along with. We had a great time chatting to them. I would highly recommend coming here, we couldn't have felt more welcome & it was really good value for money.

My family and I stayed in the suite at the guest house. Everyone slept well, and the shower was nice and warm. The wireless internet didn't reach the suite, but was available in the main house, where we were welcome to sit for the evening. Breakfast was provided and was excellent and had a wide variety of options including a full English. Our hosts were very hospitable and helpful when we needed to find food and also when my wife suffered an allergic reaction. All in all, we would definitely come back next time that we're in the area.

This was our second stay and we had a very nice relaxing time again, greeted on arrival with delicious tea and cake and made to feel very welcome. We had a fantastic meal on the first night cooked by the very talented Louise and a beautiful cooked breakfast each morning, highly recommend place to stay and hopefully we will come again.

Great house, lovely host and delicious breakfast

What an amazing find, superb location, peaceful, classy and very comfortable. All the staff were very nice/helpful/friendly and the food couldn't have been better. Sadly no bath in our room but a great nights sleep on a gorgeous bed. Took a lovely country walk opposite the property and ended up going three miles round which was nice to explore the countryside.

Wonderful old property, plenty of old exposed beams and leaning walls. Full of character better than a travel lodge anytime. Terry and Lynn are great hosts, very approachable and live on site. They seem to have worked hard to mitigate the problem of covid and social distancing. Rooms are now self contained. Breakfast no longer served but cooking facilities and supplies (eggs cereals, milk etc.) are left in the room. Dog friendly, some good walks (with rabbits) just a few meters from the garden gate. The lovely town of Long Melford is just up the road.

Lovely stay in Shimpling. Annie was a fantastic host, incredibly friendly and made us feel at home. The rooms were all perfect for us , beautifully clean and comfortable. Annie made us tea on arrival and served us a wonderful breakfast in the morning - I highly recommend.

Wonderful little B&B situated on the island, Victoria was incredibly helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast was particularly delicious (with plenty of options) and watching the ducks and chickens roaming the garden provided great entertainment! Would recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area.

Fantastic location with stunning views coupled with a lovely place and attention to detail meant we had a very restful stay. Kate is a great host!!

Clementine made our family feel very at home, including kindly let us stay past the check out time and play in her little girl's playroom. She was also very accommodating and made vegan friendly bread for breakfast which was very kind of her. It is a beautiful old building well situated in the middle of the town, the room and beds were very comfortable.

Excellent. Accommodation was brilliant. Room was spotless. Garden was very clean and relaxing. Breakfast was delicious and so much of it... Hosts were extremely welcoming, helpful and friendly (even Teddy the dog) and asking if everything is OK.. So homely and made the stay all so special. Thank you.

I enjoyed my stay very much. Stephen was a great host and the room was very nice. The house is maybe a 7 minute walk from the train station. What I enjoyed very much was in the way we interacted. I had my room whenever I wanted to be by myself, and I also had very nice conversations with Stephen when I wanted to socialize. I felt very much at home and Stephen is a very nice person.

Holiday | Couple If we could leave more than 5 stars we would. We had the most relaxing stay at Laundry Cottage and Andrea was the most caring, kind & generous host who greeted us with tea and homemade ginger cake. We instantly felt at home, so much so that all of our plans for the evening went out of the window and other than a quick bite at the local pub we spent all evening relaxing in our room. The breakfast Andrea prepared for us the following morning was so delicious - homemade butter & marmalade, a freshly baked loaf, fresh eggs and overnight oats. We were sad to leave Laundry Cottage and wished we stayed an extra night. We will be back!

John and Michael’s place was wonderful. They are great hosts - nothing is too much trouble and they went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The property is pristine, peaceful, stylish and with the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. The breakfast was amazing as well - cooked to order and they even made the jam themselves! It’s a very special place and they’re special people. It was a pleasure.

Odell and Ross were friendly, made brilliant breakfasts. Happy to chat and explain the area. Would defiantly recommend a visit.

Staying at Tim's house was truly special. From the moment he welcomed us into his beautifully decorated home we felt so comfortable. Our bedroom was just amazing with everything you could possibly need plus extras that were very much appreciated. Tim is a wonderful host and he treated us to the most spectacular breakfasts. Although the house is within easy walking distance of the town centre it was very quiet. We can't recommend Tim highly enough and we would love to come back.

Stan and his wife were very welcoming and they really took care of their guest. They have been nice and proactive. The house was perfect and super clean. The breakfast was very tasty! Staying at Stan was lovely and it was a very good choice. Lucia and Maria Teresa

This is a lovely room, which is decorated beautifully. It was very clean, well maintained, and spacious. The breakfast is so lovely and a really nice touch. Very friendly owners who gave us some good tips on places to visit nearby. Thank you for a great stay!

What a beautiful place to stay the host were absolutely lovely, Odell and Ross made you very welcome. The B&B is situated in gorgeous country side with fields all around you, theres lovely walks where if you are lucky you will see the deer walking through the fields which was a lovely sight to see, it was so peaceful and calming a perfect place to relax and recharge your batteries . The room was very clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. There is also tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Then we have the breakfast which started with fresh fruit salad, yogurt, and cereal followed by a lovely presentation of a cooked breakfast which came out on a platter for your table, so you could help yourselves and for each day there was a different variation all beautifully cooked and taste gorgeous. Needless to say i have already booked a stay for Christmas, i cant believe little gems like this still exist and i am glad i found it. Thank you Odell and Ross for a truly wonderfull weekend you were wonderful host see you again soon.

If you stay with Jacki you’re in for an absolute treat! Her beautiful home and garden are a pleasure in every way and Jacki herself is, beyond doubt, the perfect host. Breakfast in the conservatory with views out across her enchanting garden and the fields beyond is a delight – a wonderfully relaxing way to start the day. Samba, her well-behaved and adorable spaniel, is an added bonus. It’s impossible to recommend Jacki’s lovely establishment highly enough – I only wish I might have stayed longer and very much look forward to returning.

Donna is very friendly, accommodating, easy going and readily available host. we enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this if you are looking for a place in Chelmsford.
