Family-friendly holiday rentals in Ísafjörður

We loved staying at Kolbrun’s place, it was perfect for my family. The house is large, comfortable and beautifully presented throughout. It was ideally situated to explore the peninsula in a quiet area away from the main road, but also close to the supermarket and facilities of Stykkishólmur. The view from the terrace and the hot tub/sauna were the icing on the cake. Kolbrun was very helpful and responsive as a host.

What an absolute gem! The home was beautiful. The location was amazing. The hot tub was delightful. The kitchen was fantastic. Wish we could have spent our entire time in Iceland here!

I can’t say enough positive things about our stay here. Our family loved Hjortur’s home and the small village. The view was stunning! We had everything we needed. The home was so thoughtfully outfitted and the kitchen had all the extras. We felt so at home here.

We absolutely loved this house. The house is a historic landmark that has been completely remodeled with gorgeous airy rooms, huge windows looking out over the fjord, and golden hardwood floors. We cooked several meals in the well stocked kitchen. The charming back garden provided a lovely patio. The location was superb. There were a few good places to eat, wonderful walking, and a slice of small village life. We easily traveled to Isafjordur for various adventures. The hosts were lovely and responsive. We had a hard time leaving this house! I especially loved chopping vegetables in the kitchen while looking out on the harbor and main street. Added bonus: the washer and dryer worked great.

Lovely home, really well situated with great restaurants nearby and much to explore in driving distance. Would definitely recommend.

The house is situated at an altitude with beautiful views and is surrounded by land with relatively many birds. Many places on Snaefellsnes are easy to reach. The last kilometers to the house are unpaved, but a 4x4 is not necessary. There is a good bed that just fits in the bedroom, the equipment is more than sufficient. The wifi details on the Airbnb site were not accurate but were in the guest font, so that was quickly resolved.

The location of the accommodation is magnificent; directly in front of the famous mountain Kirkjufell and on the beach. Our children loved the proximity to the water. We stayed here for four nights; there was so much to discover. Our hostess was very warm and very easy to reach. We were allowed to see the lambs on the farm. When we had forgotten something in the vacation home, she made sure we got it back. Thank you again for that. Clear recommendation. We would always come back.

If you are looking for a little cabin in the middle of nowhere this is your place! Well equipped cabins, comfortable (firm) beds. Dinner and breakfast up at the hotel were good, if somewhat over priced. Host was friendly and we were able to check in early which was nice after being in the cold rain most of the day. Recommend if you are looking for peace and tranquility.

We loved staying here! The location is spectacular—you couldn’t ask for a better introduction to the West Fjords’ beauty and isolation. Rognvaldur was very helpful, alerting us to the possibility of seeing the Northern Lights. And the tiny local swimming pool across the road is the best way to experience the hot springs the way Icelanders do. There’s no great luxury here, but it was all perfect. One warning: if you’re arriving on the ferry, best to bring food with you. Patreksfjordur is about 40 km away and the store there is quite limited.

We loved our stay. We were so comfortable and views from each window were stunning. We walked everywhere and felt right at home. So glad we stayed there.

As described with an indeed fully equipped kitchen and a beautiful view of the sea from the main bedroom and the large dinner table. We had a very pleasant stay.

a great ride towards the area, located within a town that has facilities. the house is big enough for 4 people and has renovated kitchen and bathroom. are some highlights nearby and the atmosphere is good. helpfull owner, 10/10 recommend

We had a wonderful stay; very scenic and beautiful setting. It was very well described including the advice to get grocery supplies on the way. We did a superbe hike on Hornstrandir (reachable via boat transfer from Isafjordur). Would have loved to stay longer! Daphne from Luxembourg

Thorbjorn was a wonderful host (responsive and helpful with lots of local recommendations) and the place was great! Close enough to town to walk to the harbor and to town while being remote enough to enjoy the quiet. The views from the living room were great at sunset. The location was perfect for a home base for exploration of the Snaefellsnes peninsula and our search for the northern lights. There were 3 of us staying in the house and the amount of space worked out well. The house was very cute and clean. Would love to stay there again!

Beautiful environment, convenient location, fully equipped

This was a great place to stay! Surrounded by beautiful bodies of water and mountains, the scenery was gorgeous and to die for. This was the perfect size for our group of 5, with a usable kitchen that we cooked meals in. Would highly recommend staying here.

Cute little cottage away from everything, but still close enough to town for anything you might need. It was quiet and peaceful and had great views.

The house is a home away from home, fully equipped with all the essentials, very comfortable for a three-day stay. The kitchen has everything needed to prepare meals, which is important since Þingeyri has limited or no dining options. Bring groceries with you. Our hosts communicated well and provided helpful advice promptly. Highly recommended. The fjord is the most beautiful of all the fjords we saw in Westfjords (and we saw many). We hiked road 622 west and the scenery was awesome. Concerning access, we were surprised to find that highway 60 alternated between splendid paved portions and dreadful (for a 2-wheel drive) long gravel portions. The route 61 via Ísafjörður is longer in distance but not in hours (our maps app was misleading for highway 60), and is an entirely paved and a more serene drive for a small car.
