This house was originally built during the Taisho period and has a history of more than 100 years. Located on Kiyomizu-cho, just one street away from Yasaka Shrine, it is within walking distance of famous attractions such as Ishibei Koji, Sannenzaka, Ninenzaka, Kodaiji Temple, etc. The most representative building in Kyoto is Kyomachiya, and among Kyomachiya, "Sukiya" is the most precious. In order to preserve the historical and cultural value of the house, it was fully renovated in 2017, based on the restoration of the original appearance. It is open to the public in the form of a homestay. Reikaku Yasaka was a building in ruins with the floor tilted by at least 30cm when we discovered this hidden jewel. The restoration was particularly difficult due to the state it was in but our craftsman’s determination to bring this Machiya back to its formal glory paid off for Reikaku Yasaka. We have a Canadian house, just a stone through away from the beautiful Lake Biwa. Suitable place to stay for family trip, with friends and work trip. For 7guests or less, we rent 3 bed rooms (with 8 beds) For 8guests or more, we can rent the extra cabin space which is still part of the building but usually there is no access.(5 bed rooms and an attic, 12 beds and extra bathroom) please see photos and enquire within. - No Party - No BBQ after 9pm

The house was an Ochaya (literally "tea house")before and we renovated it, which is an establishment where patrons are entertained by geisha. We kept the original structure and make it much more modern and comfortable. The river in front of the house is the must-see in Kyoto changing from cherry bloom to maples. The best location near Gojo bridge and Kiyomizuーgojo sta. can make it very convenient to all the famous spots.
