Kid-friendly holiday rentals in Shaver Lake

The house in Oakhurst is absolutely beautiful, spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The rooms are large and the views from both the living room and the master bedroom are to die for. Even if you’re not into hiking, just enjoying those views is a treat in itself. We caught a beautiful sunset on our first evening as we had spent most of the day hiking for the remaining days. The house had everything we needed and we really appreciated the thoughtful touch of a complimentary bottle of wine. The hosts were also incredibly responsive and helpful throughout. One small note for those visiting from outside the US: the road leading to the house is quite dark at night due to minimal street lighting. That said, it felt completely safe and wasn’t a concern for us. Also, the house is about 1.5 hours from Yosemite Valley so it’s helpful to plan your day trips accordingly.

Such a lovely spot! the cabin was perfect for our group of 4 adults and 5 kids. Everything was just as described and nice and clean. The kitchen was stocked with all the tools you can need. Our favorite part though was the hot tub! my only advice would be to bring a white noise machine or earplugs as you can hear everything in the house at night and the loft has a curtain door. Only an hour away from Yosemite. This is a great stay!! it was very clean and had a full kitchen with all necessities you might need. Had great amenities and a nice lake near by. Dave was very friendly and helped us with all our needs. I would definitely recommend this stay!

This place is on another level of beauty and privacy. Showed up. Gate was open. The ac was already on. Place was spotless. Ice maker full with ice (huge win!!) Sit on the deck and just take in the best view around. I gotta to hang for a few min at club red. The kayak around the lake was amazing. This is a top notch compound. Incredible the paradise they have built in the middle of nowhere!! Only negative was I had to leave. Thanks Joyce and tony for your hospitality. I will be back!!!

We had such a perfect stay at Maja’s home! The view is incredible, and the various decorations around the place give it a very cozy vibe. There’s plenty of space and things to do that we never felt bored. On top of this, Maja is very kind and clearly communicated everything our group needed to know. Definitely hoping to return here someday!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. It felt very private as it sits alone at the end of the street, beautiful and peaceful surroundings. It was very clean and comfortable, had everything we needed to cook and the beds were very comfortable. Angela was a great host. Very proactive in communicating and offering suggestions on things to do nearby. The drive into Yosemite was a 30 min drive to the South Gate. Would highly recommend staying here.

This stay was truly exceptional—pristine, peaceful, and even better than the photos. It felt like a well-loved family home, stocked with everything you could possibly need. Thoughtful touches were everywhere, from clear labels to cozy comforts. It was the perfect home base for exploring Yosemite. We loved the serene backyard and daily visits from deer and hummingbirds. Wish we had more time to enjoy the firepit and corn hole!

Sam's place was perfect for our group of 3 families including a toddler. The house was immaculate, spacious, and very comfortable. The separate area with the pool table and games was a hit, and the hot tub was really wonderful for soaking post-hiking. The house is close to the South Gate of Yosemite but still well over an hour to the valley, so early starts were essential, but the privacy of the house after a long day made it well worth it. The location is perfect for restaurants and getting groceries. Would highly recommend if you want a peaceful and spacious retreat.

The cabin in Oakhurst was very quiet and peaceful. The patio was especially nice. Charlotte was super helpful and a great host. It was the perfect location for spending a few days in Yosemite.

We really enjoyed our time here. We loved that the kitchen had different spices to cook. we stayed mainly to visit Yosemite. Sherri had several Yosemite information books available too. The entrance to Yosemite is about 30 min. Sherri is a great host, she accommodated beforehand for a setup I needed. Thank you. Ps. If you are a light sleeper, then the noises from the people on the second floor might wake you up. Overall recommended.

Great stay! The place was clean and has everything we needed. Felt very peaceful and the host was very responsive. It’s about an hour and a half drive to Yosemite village, which ended up not being too bad!

Great option for going to Yosemite!

Our stay was absolutely peaceful and relaxing. The host was incredibly friendly, super nice, and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. Communication was excellent , very responsive and helpful whenever we had a question. Would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend!

The location was great. Close to the lake and China Peak Landing. Great hiking trails close by, kayaking, and horse rides. Place was a lot bigger than expected. My family and I will definitely stay again.

Sally's place was a great home-base for skiing at china peak mountain, about 30 minutes away. we loved the place, it was large, comfortable beds, and thoughtful touches with coffee, lotion, extra blankets etc. The home was cozy warm and we would definitely stay here again!

It was a nice place and such a wonderful atmosphere. The home is so nice and just very homey. Easy check in, has all the utensils you’ll need, and easy to get to Yosemite! The Smokehouse Grille next door is so nice! It was easy to communicate with Terri!

We had a great stay at Aaron’s condo. It’s an easy drive to the Wawona entrance to Yosemite and close to restaurants outside the park. It was clean, comfortable and provided everything we needed for our annual mother-daughter National Park trip. Aaron is a great host and we would not hesitate to stay here again.

The condo is lovely it was nice and warm when we arrived just after 9pm. They have all the basic supplies you need and lots of extras like cooking supplies, salt pepper, oil. Clean dish brushes, enough coffee, tea, sugar, toilet paper, for your entire stay! This is definitely appreciated I have rated the property 5 stars as it did not affect us, there are 2 large bedrooms, with a large walk in robe with door off the master. Not 3 bedrooms.

Great place for our family! Super close to China Peak. We did have a blizzard on Thursday evening when we were heading up, So we couldn’t make it all the way up and then, couldn’t get in the next morning because the paths were not cleared yet in the continued snow, but after a day at China peak everything was cleared and we had a great family dinner

Terry’s place was great, exactly what we needed. We were originally booked at an RV stay and an hour before check in they let us know that the shower was broken. We have a toddler and I was frantically trying to find a place nearby Bass Lake and luckily Terry accepted my reservation quickly and took us in! It was like a five star hotel compared to what we were going to be in! I’ve managed and cleaned airbnb’s for years and they thought of everything here. Lots of cute little touches and things for our son to play with, as well as coffee and creamer and little treats, and I really appreciated those extra touches. The only thing that bums me out is when we have to ‘clean’ up before check out… strip the beds, unload the dishwasher, take the trash out, etc. in my opinion that’s what cleaners and property managers are for, not guests, but that doesn’t take away from the nice house and experience we had here. Thank you!
