Highfield cottage is a stone-built house on a hill at Hillhouse Farm Escapes in the Scottish Borders. This old shepherd's house is renovated to a modern & cosy standard. It has a superb kitchen with range cooker and large dining table, a huge lounge and two generous bedrooms (one is en-suite). Best of all is the stunning rural location with incredible views. It's an easy one-mile walk to a pub. Dog friendly. The house next door, a Little House on the Hill (Herniecleugh), is also available.

The Puffin Burrow is a lovely self-contained apartment on the ground floor of this magnificent Georgian House. It has 2 double bedrooms, one of which is a twin and the other set up as king size but can be made into another twin on request. The open plan modern kitchen and sitting room are complete with wood-burning stove and have views of the sea including the Bass Rock and Craigleith Island.

Positioned on the top floor of what was once the White Horse Coaching Inn, built by Laurence Ord in 1624, the loft is entered by the iconic steps seen in so many photos of Edinburgh. My place is good for couples, business travellers, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets). Pets are subject to an additional £30 cleaning fee per pet per stay, payable on arrival. Pet fees are not included in the price you will have already paid.

This 2 bedroom apartment is the beautifully converted former Great Hall of Dollarbeg Castle. Built in 1890, Dollarbeg Castle was the last gothic baronial style building of its type ever built. Beautifully restored in 2007 to the very highest standards, it was converted into 10 luxury properties, one of which is a conversion of the original "Great Hall" with its vaulted ceiling and majestic views across the formal grounds towards the Ochil Hills in the distance.
