Kid-friendly holiday rentals in Watauga Lake

We had a beautiful stay at the BEE-N-BEE! The home was spotless and nestled in a peaceful, mountain setting with tall trees and fresh, clean air. We loved walking across the street to the honey store — our daughter enjoyed the animals and playground, and the honey was delicious. The owners were incredibly kind and hospitable, and there’s a meaningful mission behind the property that made our stay even more special. It’s close to Boone and Valle Crucis but still felt like a quiet escape. We expected road noise but hardly heard a thing. Sunrise and sunset over the ridges were stunning. The porch was a favorite — mosquito-free with rocking chairs and soft lights that made it feel magical. The kitchen had everything we needed, and it was amazing knowing honey is processed right behind the home. We’d absolutely stay again — 5 stars all around!

Incredible place to stay with great amenities

My husband needed to stay in the area and Ricky’s place was very convenient. He had an amazing rest time.

We truly enjoyed our stay and everything was exactly as described! It is the perfect location for a retreat in the mountains. The entire home was something out of a storybook!

The condo was extremely clean, comfortable, and well equipped. The decorations and overall feel of the place is great. The pool was nice to go down and enjoy as well. The view is incredible and we spent a good bit of time out on the balcony, just enjoying the beauty and serenity. We have zero complaints and nothing but praise for the condo and hosts. We definitely plan to return! Don't be deterred by the need to use the shuttle to travel back and forth to your car. The drivers were great and the wait for them was just a couple minutes. The entire complex seems laid back, friendly, and very well maintained. Food, groceries, or entertainment is all within a few minutes drive. While our friends were sweating in Bristol at 87 degrees, we were a cool 72 up on the mountain. It is a great place to cool off and recharge in the Summer.

We had an amazing time on our romantic getaway at this beautiful Bluff City Airbnb! The hot tub was the perfect place to unwind, especially at night while watching the lightning bugs dance around us pure magic. The decor throughout the home was cozy and stylish, making it feel like a true retreat. We loved the goats and their sweet guardian dog, Bonnie such a fun and heartwarming bonus! The views were stunning, adding to the peaceful vibe of the property. We did have one small issue during our stay, but the host was very responsive and did their best to help, even while out of town, which we truly appreciated. We would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing escape, and we’re already hoping to stay again on our next trip if it’s available!

Loved loved loved staying here!! Was so happy to be able to pet goats! The most perfect kitty lives on the property and will politely make you biscuits! The place was so comfortable and cozy. Loved the lightening bugs and trails to the creek, escorted by kitty of course. Host was so down to earth and went out of her way to allow me an early check in! She’s a super woman! Will definitely be back, close to many great hiking spots! The blue hole is a must! Thank you!

What a beautiful oasis for my family, and our senior dog, Lola. It has a huge fenced-in yard, dog treats she loved and a creek she waded in. There's a relaxing grassy area 10 ft across the street with adirondack chairs, a hammock and large swing. You can grill out under the trees, & dip your toes in the water. The front porch has multiple seating areas for reading or enjoying downtime surrounded by some of the most fragrant and colorful flower beds which I'm completely jealous of. Added bonus is having a two car covered garage. What a great find nestled in the Appalachian Mtns. House had spacious bedrooms with updated bathrooms (huge soaking tub) and large flat screen TVs in multiple rooms. So many places to see and enjoy in this area. We will absolutely be back!

Amy’s place was perfect! Exactly as shown in photos, had everything we could’ve possibly needed, & she left water bottles on the counter for our arrival :) We had a quick one night stay and Amy’s rental was great for us.

This was my first stay at an Airbnb, and it was lovely and peaceful. I instantly felt right at home and recommend it for anyone looking to stay in Mountain City. Debbi was a wonderful host!

What a gorgeous location! I could have simply sat outside enjoying the views -- which I did quite a bit! But it was also convenient to some great hikes, of which I did one. I only stayed one night, and unfortunately didn't get to meet Warren, but I will definitely be back. Highly recommend!

Very clean! Great location downtown with lots of restaurants and bars nearby. Host is awesome - let us check out an hour later!

Johnny’s place offered everything I needed and more for a night. It’s easy to walk into and around the little town Banner Elk, but it also has beautiful and peaceful surroundings. Johnny and his wife are very friendly and welcoming. I enjoyed my visit!

Boone cocoon was very close to the hustle and bustle of Boone but felt very private and peaceful. It's close if not walkable to many amenities and King st and campus. Really the best of both worlds and definitely recommend.

What to write in such a small space! Kevin and Susie are precious folks. We got in late on our first night and Kevin helped carry our things upstairs. And chatted with us for a bit. Susie had made some AMAZING cookies for us. We loved the space of the apartment. It was clean, cozy and just as the pictures portrayed. The bed was so comfortable!!! We will definitely be staying here again. Roan Mountain is our me favorite place and Kevin and Susie have the best place to enjoy it! Thanks for having us ♥️

Whitney was very personable, couldn’t figure out the gate and she took a personal call without hesitation to help. So close to all the great places in town.we will be back.

Kyle was helpful and responsive. The place was very clean and the decorations were beautiful. My friend and I had a girl’s weekend and wanted different rooms (because we like to sleep in opposite temperature) and this fit us perfectly. We each had our own bathroom and the beds were very comfy. It was nice to have a kitchen and laundry option too. The directions were easy and Banner Elk is a 5 minute walk. The best part was the 180 degree view! I miss it already and didn’t want to leave! There were deer outside our window both days so that was a bonus. We would stay here again for sure!

I really enjoyed my stay. The view of Grandfather Mountain was beautiful and peaceful. The thoughtful decor of the condo felt welcoming and modern. The location is great as a base for hiking and outdoor activities in the surrounding area. Downtown Boone is about 15-20 minutes away, which has cute stores and some good restaurants. I liked Kimberly and Lauren’s food recommendations of The Cardinal and Lost Province.

This place is in a beautiful area. It's private and quiet surrounded by nature's wonder. Every morning I woke up to a beautiful sunrise on the balcony with my coffee listening to the birds sing. I slept on the sofa bed facing the balcony and it was comfortable. My kids enjoyed the bed in the bedroom. We made breakfast and dinner and enjoyed how comfortable and cozy the ambiance felt in this condo. I took morning walks nearby. Otter falls is nearby and you can hear the creek from the balcony. The condo was very clean and had the basic necessities for our weekend stay. Definitely coming back again.

Fabby’s place was perfect for a mountain weekend getaway! The Airbnb was extremely clean and matched the photos exactly. We brought our dog along and it was a great setup for having a pet. Fabby was so responsive and always answered our questions quickly!

One of my favorite places on AirBnB! Clean, spacious, peaceful, close to tons of hiking trails. Waterfall in sight from the porch, kitchen extremely well-equipped. Will be back!

Absolutely the BEST place I have stayed. I stayed to attend a concert at Beech Mountain. I loved the location. The Winery is right down the road, downtown Boone is not too far. I loved it and will most definitely be back!
