Our charming shepherds' huts sit in the old orchard of our farm in the village of Bowness on Solway, Cumbria. The site is named 'The Garrison' as it sits on the remains of the former Roman fort of Maia, a world heritage site at the end of Hadrian's Wall. Bowness itself is in an area of outstanding natural beauty sitting on the Solway Estuary which separates England from South West Scotland. We are 40 minutes from the Lake District and 20 minutes from the historic city of Carlisle.

Waterside at Watcarrick

Under the stars in a Dark Sky Area looking out onto the forest, the Shepherd's Hut has a really comfortable king sized bed, kitchen, bathroom and wood burning stove. The private garden is fully fenced with a little gate that leads down to the stream where you can listen to the water tumbling down the many little waterfalls or watch the sun rise behind the pines from your steps. The Hut also has an enclosed wooden deck with a table and chairs, a bench seat and an extendable awning.

Archie is a charming bespoke shepherd’s hut, set in its own garden space at the top of our shared garden area. Archie offers a nostalgic space for unwinding, there’s only Archie - no other pods or huts near you. Facing southwest there are lovely views. Archie has a double bed, en-suite shower room and toilet, kitchen area with hob,microwave, fridge, fold out dining table and underfloor heating to keep it cosy. Additionally outside there’s a kitchen area, bbq , firepit & seating.

There is electricity in the hut, which allows for an electric room heater, a microwave, small warm water sink, kettle and toaster. Please note cooking is by microwave and there is no shower. There is a compost toilet adjoining the hut. You can walk and cycle from the door into beautiful rolling hills and forest tracks,. There is a EV point available for a charge.
