Pet-friendly holiday rentals in Gond-Pontouvre

A gem of a place ! It is not easy to find places in the region that are not exorbitantly expensive or furnished from grandma's leftovers; this hits a perfect note with a mixture of stylish antiques and comfort, everything has been thought of down to the Savon de Marseille in the bathrooms! Clearly lots of love has been poured into the house and it shows, from a well stocked larder with everyday essentials (including coffee pods for the machine) to the lovely welcome hamper. The garden at the back overlooking the old monastery is perfect and very secluded and even though it was only April I managed to eat outside each morning and evening (there are 3 other terraces too). The host is on hand easily for tips on where to eat or visit if needed. Tusson is a great village with a good places to eat including the wonderful Gateaux for amazing cakes.

Marine is a nice person, although we did not see each other, but I did not find the wifi code, but we only stayed for one night. All good😊👍. Friendly setting.

We had booked Hermine's house for 9 nights, were very, very friendly received by the co-host Mélanie, who looked after us very nicely in person or by phone during our entire stay with all questions. The house is very nice, cozy and tastefully decorated. The kitchen has everything you need. For us, the location was ideal because we like peace and seclusion. The surrounding villages are very small and tranquil, but you can shop nearby. We did some bike tours, the paths are well developed. We also enjoyed Angoulème very much. All in all a nice stay and perfect care! Merci beaucoup à Mélanie! Note: The stairs to the upper floor are beautiful but not suitable for people who are not good on their feet. You must not enter with shoes, it has no handrail and is very irregular and smooth. But that was no problem for us.

Accommodation as described, but furniture is a bit from another era, the accommodation is suitable for a family of 4 without problem, quiet.

The accommodation is faithful to the description and photos, even more beautiful! Impeccable cleanliness, tastefully decorated, you feel very good there right away! A truly unforgettable stay! This private, spacious boathouse was an absolute dream. From the moment we arrived, we were wowed by the unique character and thoughtful design—especially the stunning bolted ceiling that give the space more charm with a touch of grandeur. The bed was comfortable, making every night restful and serene. The bathroom was great with a big walk-in shower, and heated floors were a luxurious bonus we didn’t know we needed! Everything was spot on, blending comfort with a sense of adventure. If you’re looking for a stay that’s both cozy and strikingly unique, this is it!

Winnie is very welcoming. Her accommodation is very well-equipped and spacious. The heated pool is a real plus. No complaints. We recommend this quiet place.

Thank you for this charming cottage, we had a great time there as a family. The garden is superb, wooded, quiet and pleasant. The freshness of the house is very pleasant in summer. Everything is as described, with a bonus of toy bins for the kids!! :)

We had a great couple of weeks here. It proved an ideal location from which to explore the Périgord Vert. A very peaceful spot with a secure garden for our dog and walks nearby. The facilities in the cottage were excellent and as described and we really appreciated the bottle of wine and home made cake on arrival. The pool was very relaxing and comfortable and easily warm enough to swim in late May. There is an (excellent) boulangerie in the nearest village which is walkable and supermarkets for provisions in Brantôme. Several nearby towns had markets. Suzy and Steve (and Alfie) were lovely hosts and we fully recommend it. It was exactly what we wanted.

We were met by his beautiful dogs on arrival making us feeling immediately welcome, followed by Gideon who welcomed us like we were part of the family. Gideon and his wife couldn’t have done enough, always being around for a chat, or just for a quick wave and smile. This truly is the most peaceful and beautiful setting to escape the reality of city life. The house its self was beautiful with vaulted ceilings and exposed original brick, they have got the perfect balance of rustics and contemporary. We couldn’t fault a thing and whoever gets to stay here next, is sure to love it just as much as we did!

A beautiful house in a great location for the town, station and river. The house is cool and airy (it was 30°+ when we were there!) and was very well equipped. Parking is on a steep hill, but as long as you've got a decent handbrake you'll be fine!!

Thank you for this quiet stay in a very nice place renovated with beautiful materials. The apartment is ideal for a couple who want to visit the upper part of Angouleme, and meet in a peaceful place in the evening. Host very attentive.

I stayed at Stéphanie's place for the Festival de la Bande Dessinée d'Angoulême – it was exactly what I needed for a few nights' stay. Stéphanie picked me up and dropped me off at the station, which was very thoughtful given how busy the taxis would have been. The place is perfect, an independent addition to their home with its own entrance. The bed is very comfortable and the small kitchen has everything you might need. Stéphanie is very responsive to any questions, made sure I had all the information I might need and even left me some homemade fig jam. If you're coming without a car, it was easy to get to into the centre of Angoulême on the bus – the stop is less than 3 minutes' walk from the house. You can also walk into city, it's about 40 minutes to the Hôtel de Ville. Gond-Pontouvre is tranquil and an excellent oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the festival. All in all, an excellent stay. I would return without hesitation.
