In 2004 I got the chance to design my own family's week-end house in the village Pigniu. This fabulous place at 1300 meters above sea in the Surselva Region of Graubünden province, above the Town Ilanz, was well-known to me, for my parents owned an old farmhouse until the 1980ies here. The Spiral shaped chalet has the form of a band, changing from concrete in the base to wooden shingles upwards. The house is designed to connect us to the landscape we love. You will heat with chopped wood.

Welcome to Flond (Obersaxen/Mundaun), a centrally located village (5 min. from Ilanz) in the Bündner Bergen. In summer hikes around the mountains, bathing in the surrounding lakes (Rufalipark, Davos Munts, Lake Cauma, Lake Cresta) and the perfect place to relax. Mountain bike enthusiasts are also taken care of, many great trails are waiting for you. In winter, beautiful ski slopes await you in the Obersaxen/Mundaun area and a cross-country ski run is also located directly in the village.

Ideally suited for ski holidays as well as a good starting point for hiking excursions & bike tours or to relax in the green idyll a little from everyday stress. The chairlift (Brigels/Vuorz/Andiast) can be reached within 4 minutes by car. The Flims/Laax and Obersaxen ski resorts can also be reached in 20 minutes. Skis and sleds are rented on site. The cozy chalet is perfect for families with children or just to enjoy the peace and quiet as a couple. In the chalet there is a double bed and in the attic a mass of mattresses. You have a gigantic view of the Ruinaulta, the Flimserstein, Calanda and many different excursion opportunities. Very special in Chalet Balu is the wellness oasis with sauna. If you feel like barbecuing, you can buy our own organic beef products and other regional products.
