Holiday rentals with a kayak in Iowa

My wife and I came into town for a graduation and stayed five nights. The property was exactly what we were hoping for and more. Amazing walking trails, very close to downtown with bars and restaurants.. The view of the river was really the highlight for us, escaping city life for a peaceful riverfront retreat. The house was well equipped and we needed for nothing. Tons of space and friendly neighbors. We saw plenty of wildlife and watched boaters go up and down the river. We will be back and look forward to staying here for years to come. I was born and raised and the town and never saw this great riverfront location.

A+ Beautiful peaceful surroundings in the countryside. Have never felt so relaxed and at home on the road. Rosemary was fantastic and responded immediately to my queries. Little touches like drink assortments, pistachios, fudge and a card for us made the whole experience feel less like a business transaction and more like visiting family. Can't wait to go back and hear the songbirds sign and watch the happy cows doing their thing.

It was a great stay! We enjoyed the peaceful feel of being at the lake in a rather quiet, relaxed neighborhood. The house had all the accommodations we needed, and Sarah was a great host!

What a wonderful stay! The host was great with spot on directions and tips for fun in the area. The house is a hidden gem! On the quiet part of the lake with great fishing and tons of room to paddle and play. The common areas of the house were excellent for gathering and being together. The rest of the house was ideal for everyone to have their own space and worked great for kiddos big or small to crash early or sleep late as needed. We’ll be booking again!

The views from Nate’s property are absolutely stunning. We were in town as part of The Y’all Squad, a non-profit disaster relief organization, and having a peaceful, quiet place like this to come back to each evening made a huge difference for our team. We have a warehouse in the area and were up donating supplies to the local community, and Nate’s home was the perfect spot for us to unwind after long days. The house itself was super comfortable with plenty of space for four grown adults to move around without ever feeling cramped. It was easy to access, spotless when we arrived, and had everything we needed. The dock leading down to the lake was fantastic - two of our guys even took the kayaks out, one of them for the first time in his life! Having those on-site made for a really special moment and some great memories. The neighborhood was quiet and the neighbors were friendly - just an all-around fantastic stay. Nate was phenomenal to work with and made everything easy.

We found this gem for a last minute getaway and it checked all our city escape boxes! The water was such a nice feature and having the boats available for us right there on the property was really nice. We can’t wait to come back again another time!

We had a great stay at Spirit Lake at Mama's Boathouse. The place was easy to find and the hosts quickly responded with any questions that we had. Beds were comfortable. It was a great place to cool off after spending all day in the heat.

Tatia was a great communicator, checked in with us during our stay to make sure things were good. The area was beautiful, very peaceful, friendly neighbors, so we enjoyed getting away! Thank you for everything!

Jeff was great to work with. The place worked very well for us - we were there for a sailing competition and had a small motorboat that we used to support that that we kept on the pier. It’s extremely sheltered for that which was particularly great on this trip since a big storm came through one night and I would have been very worried about my boat on the main lake. It would have been nice to have some more chairs on the deck (there are 4) and at the island (there are 3) for breakfast, but that is minor and otherwise the house is well set up and works great as a base of operations for the area. There are indeed 3 real bedrooms as the description list. Often hosts will call something a bedroom that isn’t and we thought that might be the case here from the pictures, but you can trust this description. House is recently renovated inside, and Jeff made a special effort to work with us on questions we had as well as to be sure we were fully satisfied! Great few days.

Great location for families to be right next to Arnold’s Park. It was a very nice weekend getaway!

Just as pictured, 1 smaller bedroom , 1 master larger. plenty of room in rest of home. free kayaks very much appreciated. Everything we needed including firewood, games, books, puzzles, kids items very handy. Highly recommended, away from hustle and bussle but very quick to get to Arnold's park activities. Great time had by 2 kids, 2 guys fishing off dock, 2 females close to shopping!

Our stay was very well organized and had easy directions to follow. We really enjoyed the quiet cabin/lake weekend and will possibly be looking to return in the future, during a warmer month. Darrel was our host and he was very kind and welcoming. Overall a very nice stay.

Everything was as expected, Jeremy was very informative. Fast to answer any questions and very accommodating to our girls wrestling team. We would definitely rebook if he would have us again thank you.

We have stayed in two different cabins now and enjoyed our time greatly. Great location to go to backbone State Park and visit other towns along the way. Very clean and peaceful. We will be back!

Christian and Melissa have a beautiful home with an amazing selection of amenities. My friends and I felt right at home and had an amazing weekend enjoying the pool, hot tub and back patio. Hoping to come visit again once the lake is no longer under construction! Would highly recommend!

The Railway Lodge is such a cute and cozy cabin—perfect for a peaceful weekend in nature! The place had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. We especially loved spending time outside and doing some grilling—it was the perfect way to unwind. The quiet surroundings and scenic setting made it feel like a true escape. The hosts were super responsive and thoughtful. Highly recommend if you're looking for a charming, nature-filled retreat!

We loved the place. It is gorgeous, comfortable, cozy and clean. Owners are friendly, flexible and proactive. We definitely will come back.

This cabin is remotely quiet away from cities. It is perfectly getaway to unplug and refresh!
