Barn accommodation in River Eden

A fantastic location and the most beautiful view. A must book Airbnb !!! Brilliant location for walks to Lowther and a short drive to a wonderful swim in the lake and sauna. Claire’s place is super comfortable and very well equipped. It’s been perfect for a reunion of old friends coming together from Scotland and London. Thank you !

This is our 3rd year at Mary Meadows and we wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else in the Lakes. Well equipped, clean, comfortable, extremely quiet, and so nice of Joanne to knock on the door and make sure everything was ok! Walking distance to the newly refurbished Royal Hotel that serves great beer and food, and to Gowbarrow Fell and the spectacular Aira Force waterfalls. Everything else in the Lakes just a short drive away. Avoid the hustle and bustle and chill out in Dockray! A very friendly neighbour too, who's a bit untidy, but lovely genuine welcoming chap and full of great stories about the area. A highly recommended place to stay!

What a wonderful place .. I cannot fault it at all .. all the facilities you need including comfy beds and powerful showers .. so restful and peaceful yet in easy reach of so many places .. thats if you want to venture out .. also just a lovely place to spend time in and relax .. with Allendale Town a short walk away which is simply charming! It was lovely to meet Richard on arriving and to get a look around at the ‘small plot big ideas’ and meet the all animals especially dogs Darcy and Jess! Our time was over all too quickly but O would return in a heart beat!♥️

The cottage was the perfect place for our weekend away! The rooms were comfortable, the kitchen was very well equipped, and the garden was very spacious! We loved watching the neighbouring sheep in the sun room, and the hot tub was the perfect place to watch the pheasants and squirrels which visited the garden. The cottage was about an hours drive to the lakes, and the host was super friendly and recommended some lovely local walks and things to do in the village! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to come back!

A lovely peaceful retreat in a beautiful village. Extremely comfortable bed and excellent, clean facilities. Really appreciated the bread, milk etc - a really thoughtful touch.

Sophie is an excellent host. The cottage barn was spotless and matched the description. A very cozy stay. We had perfect weather so were able to enjoy the patio every morning and evening. A perfect little get away in the countryside.

I’ve just spent the most wonderful and memorable weekend with my daughter on Alice’s stunningly beautiful farm. This really is an absolute gem. The setting is like walking back in time and the cottage is just gorgeous, warm and welcoming with everything you need for a peaceful break away from it all. Perfectly located near to Ullswater and all it has to offer yet without all the hustle and bustle! Great links to the rest of the Lakes too. Alice and George made us feel so so welcome and even took the time to show my daughter all the animals on the farm. Thanks so much Alice. We can’t wait to return! X

Had a fantastic 3 night stay here.. lovely and quiet but close walking distance to the town centre. Felt like home from home and had everything we needed! X

Quite rural but only 8 mins off the main road - makes you feel you’re in a very special quiet place! Great little cottage, cozy and comfy and clean, and nicely decorated. Hot tub with great view is a fab addition. Would recommend.

Lynn & Reg are so friendly and make you feel so welcome at home straight away. Their little cottage is so nice, the photos don’t do it justice. Private garden for the dogs and endless places to sit and enjoy the peace and quiet. The beach is literally 2 mins walk down a track and we had it to ourselves the whole time we were there. We look forward to going back and spending more time there.

I spent a fabulously restful night in Catherine’s lovely cottage annexe: it was peaceful, spotlessly clean, well equipped, cosy and comfy and surrounded by beautiful views and countryside. There were kind personal touches and Catherine welcomed me and my two dogs on our arrival. I was sad to only stay one night and would absolutely book again.

Our stay at Bowscar farm was a moment of peace and happiness. The accommodation is even better than the description and really comfortable, we had everything we needed. Pat and Neil are amazing hosts, always keen to help or to share recommendations about walks and restaurants. We couldn't have dreamed a better place to stay during our mini honeymoon. We loved the surroundings and the Lake District. We highly recommend the farm and will definitely be back.

We had the best stay! Lisa’s home is beautiful and cosy. We felt relaxed as soon as we stepped in. Lisa was extremely thoughtful to have left us a welcome gift for us and our dogs The dogs loved the blankets provided and the extra treats The beds were so comfortable and clean. Everything was spotless Lisa was kind enough to offer an earlier check in on the day. We climbed Scaffell pike and went to Seascale Beach. It was a perfect stay with family Would hugely recommend !!

Fantastic host, really friendly and accommodating. Very responsive to message and easy to chat with. The accommodation is clean, tidy, all modern fixtures and fittings. The beds are clean and comfortable. Super location to explore the local sites and sounds. Would highly recommend and will hopefully revisit some day.

Wow They've obviously put a lot of thought into the space; a blend of rustic charm and originality with modern twists and equipment. The only regret is that we were only there for 2 nights.

We stayed at Bruce and Anita’s beautiful cottage and from start to finish their communication was excellent.. on arrival Anita had baked some beautiful whole meal bread and had bought us a lovely chocolate cake , and we were welcomed by lovely music on the Alexa .. Archie our Airedale terrier also loved the treats they left for him . The cottage was enchanting , pristine a beautiful enclosed garden for Archie and had everything we needed for our 3 day stay .. the views were breathtaking and it was so peaceful , quiet and the village and river were within walking distance. Hubby is a keen birdwatcher and enjoyed the conversation with Anita about all the birds within the location and was impressed they had 7 swift bird boxes .. Anita , Bruce and their beautiful dogs ( 3 rough collies) cottage comes highly recommended and we hope to revisit soon x Thankyou

Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. The house was perfect for our group, had everything you need and of course waking up to the beautiful views everyday was amazing. Great location for hiking, seeing the surrounding towns the lakes has to offer and also great local pubs within walking distance. Jonny and his family was so accomodating and welcoming and also kept us up to date with the weather and what hikes would be good to do. We will definitely be back and would 100% recommend this beautiful property. It really is a home away from home.

We had a fantastic stay! The place was exactly as described—clean, comfortable, and in a great location. Check-in was smooth, and communication with the host was easy and friendly throughout. The space had everything we needed for a relaxing and enjoyable trip. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others!

This house has the wow factor! Very comfortable, clean located in a village just off m6/a66 - 2 fantastic pubs in the village, very friendly locals, easy access to the lakes. Highly recommended, will come again 😁

We had a great stay! It’s a good base for exploring the North Lakes. The place is very spacious for two adults. It’s dog-friendly with a shared enclosed garden, which was perfect for our needs. The property is also well equipped, making it easy to settle in and enjoy your stay. It would also suit a couple with one or two children, as I believe the sofa converts to a bed. Overall, a comfortable and convenient spot. We would be happy to book again!

This was our second visit to Julie, It had lost none of its magic second time around.The accommodation is very clean and inviting,the outside space is lovely and relaxing...the views are stunning and all you can hear are the birds singing. We recommended staying here and will definitely be coming back in the future for a third visit. Thank you Julie for making us feel welcomed and for the tips on where to visit.

We had an amazing 2-night stay at Jane’s place. The house is absolutely beautiful and set in breathtaking surroundings—the photos really don’t do it justice, as the real thing is far more exquisite. The decor is warm and homely, yet spacious enough to comfortably fit the five of us. Both bathrooms were spotless—one with a shower and the other with a bathtub, which gave us the flexibility to choose. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed, including ample fridge space. The garden is also worth mentioning—gorgeous and clearly very well cared for. We especially loved the fireplace; it truly felt like the cherry on top of an already perfect stay. The house manual was detailed and extremely helpful, covering everything we needed to know. Jane was a wonderful host—so warm and thoughtful. She welcomed us with a lovely letter and some delicious biscuits, which made us feel right at home from the start. Highly recommended!

We arrived on the Friday for a 3 night stay. The Barn is in a beautiful place inside and out. The Hot Tub was lovely on an evening and the patio fire was great to sit around for drinks early evening watching the Sun go down. Casterton village is only a couple of miles from Kirkby Lonsdale. The village its self had a gorgeous pub 7 mins walk from the Barn which had a great range of food and served Sourdough pizza on Sunday evening after 1700hrs with a lovely warm atmosphere and open fires. There is a great taxi service and some fabulous restaurants near to the Barn. The Black Bull and the Highwayman were fabulous. (We did go to Number 9 also and it was not somewhere I could recommend, service and food really poor.) Patrick and Anika were great responsive hosts and this is a do not miss property, that offers every you need for a fabulous stay. Our little group loved it. Thank you Karen, Denise and Naomi
