  • Katy's place was perfect for me. The space is quite quirky, warm and has everything you might need. Katy has supplied me with local information and tips, even before my trip so I could easily prepare and organise everything I needed. I received a lovely welcome too. The tea rooms next door and pub in walking distance are an added bonus. I would definitely stay again. Thanks for everything, Katy. XXX

  • Nice and quiet stop-off for travellers searching a semi-rural ambience; it's well communicated with many key sights and places of interest in Fife.

  • A really lovely place, very comfortable and homely. The amenities were good, although, the shower was a little bit temperamental but other than that a really nice room. I'd definitely return!

  • We spent one night at Katy’s house. We were kindly welcomed by Katy and a friendly word written on a board by her daughter. The room is well equipped : king size bed, table, kitchen with microwave oven, fridge, laundry with washing machine, shower....all confort en suite !! The village is very quiet. A pub is close to the house by walking 10 min but the kitchen closes at 8pm. Other restaurants for later dinners are available in Cupar, 10 min far by car. We warmly recommend this adress .

  • This is a nice place to stay. A quiet little village with lots to see in the surrounding area. The room has a pull out double bed, a table and chairs and an en suite shower and toilet. There is a shared area at the back with washing machine, tumble drier, microwave, kettle, fridge and sink. I’ve used this space to live in whilst I work up here. It suites me just fine and is good value for money.

The apartment is available for single people, couples or a maximum of three guests with one sleeping on the sofa in the lounge. There is also space for guests' own travel cot to be erected in the bedroom to accommodate a young child.
The apartment at Netherby Hoose is a peaceful haven on the edge of the village and yet is within easy access of both road and rail routes. It benefits from double glazed windows all round offering excellent thermal and sound insulation. All the windows are fitted with slatted wooden blinds which are adjustable for privacy. Accommodation comprises: A lounge with sofa and chairs; dining table and chairs; 42" TV with full Sky HD package and 3.1 sound system; Amazon Echo Dot (Alexa...?) and Chromecast; occasional furniture and living flame gas fireplace. There is permanent Wi-fi with a low power output transmitter in the lounge which deliberately does not reach the bedroom. This is to ensure a good night’s rest for guests. It can also be disabled in the lounge for any guests who have a high degree of EMF sensitivity. An Ethernet cable connection can also be made available. Internet download speed is typically 45 Mbps and upload 6 Mbps. A child's high-chair is also available on request. A fully fitted kitchen with: electric, halogen hob and electric oven and grill; fridge-freezer; microwave; washer-drier; electric kettle; toaster; pots and pans; cooking utensils; crockery; glasses and cutlery. Bathroom with; thermostatic shower over bath; toilet and wash hand basin. Bedroom with; double bed; wardrobe; chest of drawers and bedside cabinet. In addition, the lounge sofa can accommodate an additional adult or child. There is also a large loft space in which guests can store their luggage. If your party is larger than three people and you require additional bedrooms, we can, at times, make available additional rooms in the main house and / or the log cabin with attached shower and toilet, in the garden. Please contact us to discuss this option before booking.
Ladybank is a traditional Scottish village. By and large, local people are friendly and helpful. We're situated in a very quiet neighbourhood with nice neighbours. There are local woods which offer walks. There is also a local golf club nearby. Local shops include two convenience stores, a good quality butcher and a pharmacy. There is also a garage which undertakes car repairs and MOT's and a large and very helpful tyre fitting centre. In addition, there are two hairdressers, a Chiropractic practice, a Chinese food takeaway and a pub. Kirkcaldy, Glenrothes, Cupar, St Andrews, famous as the home of golf, Dundee, Perth and the picturesque NE Fife fishing villages are all within easy driving distance. Knockhill the home of Scottish motorsport is 28 miles and about 40 mins away. There is a wide choice of local restaurants in Cupar, Glenrothes, Kirkcaldy and St Andrews and the famous Peat Inn, Michelin Starred restaurant is about 20 mins drive away. There is an Asda superstore and Aldi and Lidl stores, as well as a shopping mall and a fast food outlet in Glenrothes which is 20 minutes away. Cupar which is again 20 minutes away has a Tesco supermarket, Aldi, Lidl and fast food outlets.
  • Netherby house was fantastic accommodation. A beautiful self contained flat, very well appointed and very comfortable. Mike the owner was a great host and we felt very welcomed. A great location for touring beautiful Fife and near Edinburgh. I would highly recommend.

  • We just left this morning and it was as sad as leaving home! Charming and cozy annex with everything you need, gracious and extremely accommodating hosts, perfect location for exploring by car, bus, or train, charming little town. We stayed for 2 months and never got tired of being there. We were there over Christmas and Mike and Sharon welcomed us into their home to share an amazing family dinner. Weather was perfect winter weather with a chill in the air but travel limiting snow kept at bay. We would definitely go back and would recommend this accommodation to anyone!

    Laurie2019-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Mike is a very kind host, he responded very responsibly to our call for help because we had missed our flight and we were homeless but thanks to Mike we could enjoy an extra day to 45 minutes from Edinburgh I strongly advise you to contact him because in addition to being very human Mike you put at your disposal a superb fully equipped apartment I hope we will have the opportunity to return one day !! Once again thank you for everything and take care of you!

  • Mike is an amazing host. Always helpful, kind and understanding. This place is attached right next to their house and they are happy to share the backyard. Our one-year-old baby spent lots of time in the garden. Also, there is a park and a playground in 1 minute walking distance . We felt like we were home. The house is extremely clean and you have everything you need to cook in the kitchen. So we did a big grocery shopping first day we arrived, then cooked all meals during our stay. Towels and sheets are very clean. Plus, there is a washing machine that also a dryer if you need to do laundry. If you don’t have a car, Ladybank has a good access to other towns and cities via the railway and bus. Definitely recommended place to stay!

    Sila2018-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic accommodation in quiet village close to St. Andrews & Carnoustie. All the homely comforts and more, even the ability to record a TV show and watch it when you get home from sightseeing. Your Hosts have compiled and excellent compendium with really helpful advise for the wider area. They are very approachable and nothing is too much trouble. They strife to improve at every corner and accomplish this well.

    Colin2018-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • We want to thank Mike and Sharon for a splendid and memorable stay for 28 days. They made us feel so welcome and we felt right at home. Decor, kitchen (including well stocked crockery and appliances), and warm hospitality were all first-rate. We have stayed at numerous AirBnBs this year and some part of last year and this kitchen was by far the most loaded kitchen, perfect for a lengthy stay. I mean they even had a rolling pin in case you fancy making pies or pasta from scratch. The place is more beautiful than the pictures might suggest, some parts of the annex were recently renovated, so it looks up-to-date and is very private. Every little detail is well considered to ensure guests have a very comfortable stay. The bay window perfectly frames their charming zen garden view. Ladybank is a picturesque place and very convenient for train journeys Edinburgh, Dundee, Aberdeen, Perth line. If you rent a car, it makes for even more ideal location. However, without a car we did fine. Mike is so generous that he even drove us to the big Tesco in Cupar couple of times for groceries and gave us a nice little tour of the town of Freuchie. But more importantly, the kindness and generosity they showed to me and my wife and constant support they provided, while I became unexpectedly ill was so touching and beyond the gratitude words can convey. They are genuinely kind and compassionate human beings, who treated us like family. We convey our admiration and thanks to Mike and Sharon. Whenever we think of our time in Scotland, we’ll think of them with great affection and gratitude. Finally, we’d be amiss if we didn’t mention their lovely cats Sassy and Macy. They are so adorable, my wife was dreaming of staying there forever.

  • The best part of travel is meeting new people like Mike and Sharon! Mike was kind enough to show us around in Fife and gave us a first hand look at Scotland as a local. The BnB is just a short trip to Edinburgh which is a must-see city with outstanding food! The BnB was very well equiped. We love cooking and it had everything we needed pots, pans, wine opener and nice kitchen knifes that actually work (a hard item to find in most AirBnBs). We had a great stay! The place was prefect for us and our two cats. If you're staying here I would suggest a car if you really want to see what Scotland has to offer (and why wouldn't you Scotland landscape is jaw dropping) with its wonderful countryside. I would highly recommend staying here especially if you like meeting friendly new people!

  • We really enjoyed our stay with Mike and Sharon. They are both friendly and helpful. The property is well sited for touring around the area and was easy to find and very comfortable.

Burnside Cottage is my lovely home, nestling at the foot of East Lomond Hill in the beautiful, historic village of Falkland. I have two double bedrooms ideal for tourists hoping to explore the history of the village and its surrounds and holidaymakers wishing to enjoy the pursuits of walking, climbing, cycling or simply chilling in the peaceful countryside. Guests will have access to all rooms except my bedroom. I am happy to provide breakfast and evening meals if required at an extra cost
The cottage is located on the outskirts of the village, at the end of a private road which also serves as a public right of way to the local children's playpark and gives access to walkers wishing to explore Falkland Estate. The cottage lies adjacent to the burn which flows through the estate so you are never far from the soothing sound of running water! The cottage has everything you need for your stay as you have access to every room with the exception of my own bedroom. Please be aware, however, that the bathroom for your own private use is situated on the ground floor, a staircase away from your bedroom on the upper floor. The bath downstairs also has shower facilities. My own bedroom upstairs has an ensuite, and I am happy to allow guests to use the shower in the ensuite if they have mobility issues. The larger bedroom has a balcony with lovely views over the estate and in warmer weather I leave out a patio table and chairs which allows guests to breakfast, enjoy coffee, quaff wine or dine out in the sunshine. The second bedroom is small but perfectly formed! Parking is not an issue, and guests can park on the road immediately opposite the cottage. If bikes need to be stored, there is plenty of room in the utility room. You are welcome to use all the facilities in the kitchen, to make and prepare meals, and there will be space made available in the fridge and cupboards for your own food if required.
There is a post office in the village which also acts as a convenience store. We have pubs and hotels, cafes and gift shops all of which are very good and popular. Stunning Falkland Palace is a "must see", (it was adored by Mary, Queen of Scots) and you can learn about its amazing history by going on a regular tour or stroll around the gardens and orchard and discover one of Britain's oldest original real tennis courts (but watch out for low flying birds!). Falkland is a great starting place for walks, cycle runs, climbing up the East and West Lomond hills, indulging in a bit of history, and for Outlander fans, spotting location sites and buildings often featured in the tv series. if you're really lucky, you might even turn up when filming is in progress. You might simply want a quiet break away from the hurly-burly of work and city life by relaxing in the peace and tranquility of the countryside on my balcony!
  • Libby is a kind, considerate hostess. The house is lovely and the room is clean and comfortable, the garden and surroundings picturesque with the historic town of Falkland a stone's throw away and the regional park of the Lomond Hills literally on the doorstep. I would highly recommend Libby's cottage.

This charming barn conversion in the village of Freuchie is ideally placed for exploring the picturesque East Neuk fishing villages, and the historic towns and cities of St Andrews, Edinburgh, Stirling and Dundee. Falkland Palace, the ancient home of Scottish Kings is just a mile away and there are lovely walks through the village and the Lomond Hills.
Lovely spacious accommodation combining character with every modern amenity to make your stay homely and comfortable.
There is an excellent village store just 80 yards from the cottage, open daily from 6am - 10pm. The quaint 18th century local pub The Albert Arms and The Lomond Hills Hotel are just a couple of minutes walk from the house and there is an very good garden centre and cafe at the village road end.
  • Mary's home is perfect. Small warm and very cosy. In the centre of the village, shop, pub and restaurant just a minutes walk away. Fantastic centre point for all the major attractions, Anerdeen, Perth, Dundee, St Andrews...... A lot off attention has been put into the home, just when you think you have seen everything there then something else catches your eye. A fantastic stay, will book again as we are regulars to stopping over in and around Fife. Many thanks for a great breakaway. :)

  • Mary’s place was just perfect for a peaceful retreat. It was sparkling clean and check-in was a breeze. There’s off-street parking, too. But mostly, it felt like a home not a rental. It’s decorated beautifully and felt so cozy and lovely. When we come back, we will definitely stay here again. Wonderful experience! Roaming around the shops in Falkland is a must!

The Pillars Bothy is a rustic, quirky, but clean and super comfortable cottage, sleeps 4, with shower room, wifi, heating and hot water from the super woodstove. At the edge of the woods but only 100m from Pillars shop and Cafe so not remote. Footpaths from the adjacent woods lead to Falkland (20 mins), Maspie Den with its overhanging waterfall, and the Lomond Hills.. a perfect place to enjoy the simpler things, but by car, Perth is 25mins, St Andrews 35 mins, Edinburgh 1 hour 10mins.
There is a separate downstairs bedroom with a double bed. There is also a double mattress on the floor of the mezzanine platform above the sitting room. It has a steep, ladder type stair so not suitable for very young children, but great for teenagers and romantic couples! There is an open plan kitchen/diner/sitting room with a wood stove, (which does all the heating and hot water) (free firewood!) and a separate toilet with walk in shower.
Walks and cycling straight from your front door. Fife is quite rural, but Falkland village is 20 mins walk away, with palace, pubs, shops, lots of history. St Andrews is 40 mins by car, Edinburgh 1 hour. The East Neuk of Fife has many picturesque fishing (Website hidden by Airbnb) Monans, Pittenweem, Anstruther, Crail. And not a sign of a nightclub anywhere ! Follow us on (Hidden by Airbnb) , (Hidden by Airbnb) and Instagram for more insight into the Pillars!
  • We loved our weekend at the bothy. The kids slept up in the mezzanine and were cosy and warm. It was like a treehouse up there! We spent our time reading by the fire and listening to Ella Fitzgerald. We also walked into Falkland which is only 20 minutes away and had a lovely wander around. The farm café and shop are terrific and have a wonderful selection of food. We enjoyed a delicious lunch at the café on Sunday before heading home. We'd love to come back again in the New Year.

  • A beautiful cozy cottage for romantic winter breaks.

  • I booked Judy's place for two colleagues as we were having meetings at Falkland Palace and the Woodland Hub. Wendy and Nadine loved the space! Here are their words: “A beautiful little haven, tucked up against the trees. Just what we needed! Loved doing some walks through the woods... and so lovely to have the delightful Pillars of Hercules shop/café close by for yummy treats!” Wendy (Edinburgh) "I enjoyed so much your hospitality ... in this cosy lovely "cabane dans les bois"... Perfect for our retreat purpose, perfect to host and dive into some inquiries..." Nadine (France)

    Jo And Louie2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • The bothy is the most cozy, Judy is a great host and the pillars the best shop! Historic Falkland and fantastic walks nearby.

    Kasper2019-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • Enchanting accommodation, privacy and peace galore. Surrounded by beautiful Woodlands. Would highly recommend.

  • absolutely superb place, it's my second time there and love it even more, will be coming again, Bothy is the epitome of coziness! Highly recommended

    Radim2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for 3 nights and it was so cozy! The fireplace was really authentic and we loved the wee house! The café and farm shop was lovely, we bought everything for our dinner there and cooked it in the bothy. Very close to Falkland which has nice stores, restaurants and Outlander locations :) Thanks for this stay, hope we can come back in the future.

    Isabella2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved the bothy. The farm shop is absolutely brilliant and we loved getting cosy and enjoying the surrounding area. Brilliant WiFi but everything else was brilliantly rustic and exactly what we wanted. We hope to come back again some day!

Situated in a quiet village it is within easy reach of St. Andrews, Edinburgh and the Highlands are a little over one hours drive.
  • Incredible, cozy, wonderful. Sheila’s place is clean, comfortable and in a great spot to hike, walk paths, see perfect Scottish towns, and get some rest, too. I enjoyed my stay so much and would love to go back again. I highly recommend Sheila’s place.

  • We had a lovely stay in Auchtermuchty!

    Floor2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • The check-in was super easy and communication from our host was great. The place itself is perfect. Lots of thoughtful touches. The shower was fab. Great wifi. We cooked in the basic but very serviceable kitchen. Bed linen was good quality and the beds were comfy. Location was perfect for us - we used it as a base for the Falkirk Wheel and the Kelpies, and also Balmoral (both were a decent drive away so this wouldn't work for everyone). Auchermuchty has a well-stocked Co-Op and then just the one pub within strolling distance plus a Chinese take-away.

    Andi2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Sheila's house was ideal. A comfortable living space, all the amenities you need and fabulous little touches, which made our stay even more memorable. Topping it all, were the beautiful surroundings. I would, 100%, recommend a holiday here.

Coronavirus Update - in the light of the new rules, we will only accept bookings from local people who need to protect relatives from the virus, after careful discussion. Holmlea is a cosy but airy cottage c. 1840, nestled in a quiet, pretty little road in the friendly village of Freuchie. With spacious, high-ceilinged rooms, Holmlea has an arty, vintage style, and is a comfortable and relaxing space. The cottage is light, and you can park in the road and in a free car park 25 metres away.
Homelea is full of original features, and we have added a beautiful cream Jotul stove with Delft tiling as a focal point for the living room, with sweet little insect illustrations. All of the artworks in the cottage are original, as we are an artistic family, and many are available for sale. Outside, although there is not a garden, there is a bench where you can sit out in the sun, and a back doorstep area where you can also take chairs and a table out for breakfast or in the evening when it is fair. There are also parks close by and a cricket ground. There is a guitar you can borrow if you didn't manage to bring your own! In the bathroom there is a new shower over a bath, and there is lovely antique furniture throughout. There is a new smart TV, so you can access Netflix, Freeview etc. Please note that although the cottage is all on one level, there is one step up at the front door and three at the back. We have aimed for the cottage to be homely, comfortable, attractive and the sort of place we would love to stay on holiday. Coming mid-January - a lovely sofa bed so we will be to accommodate 4 guests!
Freuchie is a very friendly community, and there are local shops for groceries etc five minutes walk away. There is also a 24 hour garage with large Spar shop just outside Freuchie, which sells craft beers, and great hotels and pubs are also nearby - our guests are often adopted by the friendly villagers! The legendary Pillars of Hercules is a short drive away, a characterful cafe/restaurant with a very laid-back approach, delicious home baked food, and health store - lots of tables outside and in. The Lomond Hills are on your doorstep for amazing 360 degree views of Fife (you can walk, or drive up most of the way to a car park and viewing point), and the historic village of Falkland is a five minute drive away and well worth a visit, for its beautiful old buildings, famous tea rooms, gorgeous gift shops, and the fascinating and beautiful Falkland Palace and Gardens, which features one of the oldest tennis courts in the world. Outlander was filmed here. You will find that almost everyone you pass in Freuchie says hello!
  • A beautiful property very clean and very well looked after and great attention to detail given in the decoration. I would recommend booking and staying at this property and would love to return and stay there again myself one day

    Craig2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Holmlea. A traditional cottage, cute with period charm. Oh yes. But everything inside works perfectly, and the interior is so beautifully done with lots of caring touches and a bed which was deliciously comfy after a day's coastal exploration. We particularly loved the fire (with logs) and guitar. A wonderful place, and a wonderful weekend. Thank you, Katy.

    Bob2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing location with amazing views. The smallest of touches that even I wouldnt think of! Thank you ever so much for a lovely weekend xx

    Hannah2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location, perfect cottage, perfect hosts :) Thank you :)

    Catherine2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • A charming, welcoming cottage, friendly village, and perfect location for touring. Wonderful, thoughtful hosts - will definitely recommend to family and friends, and will definitely return.

    Mary2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • You will open the door to Homelea and feel at home immediately - that is if you are lucky enough to live somewhere as cosy and artistic as Katy’s cottage! You rolling in the Edinburgh or Fife area.will find everything you need of such quality and thought to cook a meal ( shops open late nearby), then snuggle up on a comfortable sofa in front of the fire and perhaps watch a favourite film. The bedroom is also exceptionally comfortable - we’ve had a welcome night’s rest every visit! Every item, from Katy’s choice of crockery to the lovely paintings on the walls by Katy and her professional artist family, are high quality and not the usual items expected in an Airbnb property. Homelea is ideally situated, near commuting train station into Edinburgh and in the heart of the beautiful Fife coast and countryside. From Freuchie you can see the breadth of Edinburgh’s coastline, a hop over the Fife bridge! We will always choose to stay here!

    Joanna2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Holmlea in Freuchie is everything you could wish for. We had a perfect stay and would encourage anybody looking for accommodation in the area to stay here!

    Rob2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • To start, the neighborhood is quaint and hills surrounding the area are so beautiful. The street is quiet, safe and clean and the free parking lot right across the way made it super convenient and easy for us. The cottage itself is SO cute! I loved all of Katy’s interior designs as well. It was bright, cozy, relaxing and comfortable. The cottage was the perfect size for my boyfriend and I. We were finally able to cook a nice meal in the kitchen and sleep peacefully in the large, comfortable bed. The bathtub was also an added bonus! All in all the stay was amazing and we wish we would have booked it for more then one night. Also, if you book this amazing spot- make sure to check out the bar/restaurant around the corner. Delicious food, cheap drinks and great service! Thank you so much Katy for such a pleasant stay! :)

I have an air mattress available too and there is LOADS of space in the living room for this, it comes with an electric air pump and all the bedding. Auchtermuchty is a quiet village in the beautiful Kingdom of Fife. We are only 30 minutes away from St. Andrews and there are some other spectacular spots that should not be missed while you're here! We have a couple of pubs in the village, if you fancy a drink then we recommend the Cycle Tavern. It is down the hill on the way there but unfortunately that means it's up the hill to get back at the end of the night. We also have a couple of convenience stores where you can pick up the essentials, we recommend The Co-op which is a 2min walk and offers a good selection of the bits and bobs you might need to keep you going.
  • Fantastic stylish property, quiet and relaxed. All you could ask for in a retreat. Will definitely look to go back. Recommended area to see Cupar, StAndrews and the rest of Fife. Loved the place.

  • What a lovely find! It is in a quaint little village. Ewan’s place is lovely, thoughtfully left bits out such as washing tablets, fairy liquid etc as well as a bed for the dog, a bowl and some treats. So kind! Douglas loved the view from the balcony, as there were lots of birds flying around. The bets were comfortable. Really lovely place, thank you!!

    Joanne2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Ewan has really thought of every thing. I couldnt fault it. Loved the wood burner, the bed was so comfortable, the place was spotlessly clean and the decor very stylish. Our dog was made very welcome too. Ewan clearly carers about his guests experience and it shows in how the house is presented. 5 out of 5!

We had our two dogs with us and there are plenty of local places to walk them. Nothing is too much trouble for Neil & Leslie, they just make you feel like one of the family. Can't recommend it highly enough.

  • Lesley and Neil are very warm, welcoming hosts and we absolutely loved their beautiful garden. Our room and bathroom had everything we needed, and a simple breakfast got each day off to a good start. Unfortunately, we did not have time to enjoy the guest sitting room but we did do a couple of lovely country walks from the house, and at a nearby nature reserve. We would definitely go back. Thank you, Leslie and Neil

Perfectly located, this retreat features a log burning stove, central heating mezzanine bedroom, roll top bath and summerhouse. The garden is a good size with excellent views of the Lomond hills. Also within walking distance you will find gift shops, bars, cafes and restaurants. Falkland is a picturesque town , famous for its royal palace. Falkland nestles between the two Lomond Hills and has recently gained lots of interest as the place where "outlander" was filmed.
The cottage is situated at the top of Royal Terrace. It is very private and overlooked only by farm animals. Inside the space is quirky and full of character with a spiral staircase and a living area with double height ceilings. You will find the cottage spacious for two people and the log burner makes winter stays very enjoyable. The garden and summer house offer additional spaces to enjoy. Please note this is an escape from the city, you will have good mobile signal, however we do not provide Wifi so you may have to talk to each other. There are a small collection of books about the local area and a record player. PLEASE NOTE THERE IS NO LONGER A SOFA BED
Falkland is very quaint and full of character. You will experience a real buzz with coaches of tourists often making short stops. The situation of the cottage is very quiet, but it is only a short walk to all amenities. Golf, tennis, walking, horse riding all available nearby.

  • We loved staying here - spotlessly clean, very warm and peaceful and with the magical gardens just outside. Ideally placed for visiting other areas - Dundee took no time at all, and the coast close by. The cafe has delicious cakes and salads on offer, with estate apple juice and special teas, we were spoilt for choice. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cottage and look forward to another visit.

    Heather2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little cottage immaculately clean with excellent amenities in a secluded location on the outskirts of Perth. The communication was great and the hospitality tremendous (a friendly welcome and tea cakes awaiting us on arrival). I highly recommend. Only potential little downside to those who want to be connected at all times is the poor mobile reception and a restricted WiFi due to remote location but didn’t cause us any issues.

    Susan2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely charming!

    Toni2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • A very clean and comfortable cottage, extremely private, perfect for small families! Tea tray set out with the small cakes was a lovely touch! Weather didn’t allow us to visit the garden properly but from the small part we saw, absolutely gorgeous! We stayed as it was close to St. Andrew’s where we were visiting.

    Warda2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • The house is great. On the ground floor a large living room with children's books and a bathroom attached to it, very large kitchen with large table. On the first floor the very spacious bedrooms and the very comfortable beds, and the bathroom is wonderful. The setting is beautiful, it deserves a walk and enjoy it. The kitchen and living room have great views. Definitely a great accommodation, to repeat if we return.

    Marina2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely clean well equipped cottage. The garden is amazing. There's an amazing place to sit the evening with a great view.

    Rachel2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy cottage, beds were so comfy and shower was great. Everything we needed in the kitchen was there. Lovely touch with the tea set left out (including a plastic cup for our daughter). Great base for exploring the area. The gardens are lovely and it was nice to get given a mini tour by Caroline to learn a bit about its history. Our daughter really enjoyed the bear walk. All in all a great relaxing break.

Architecturally the burgh is of great interest with many houses being over 300 years old having the thatched roofs replaced with pantiles. The layout is typically medieval with main street and narrow cross wynds. Falkland Palace was built by King James II, one of the finest examples of French renaissance architecture. It was built to accommodate the royal court and used mainly as a hunting lodge. Fire destroyed the east range of the palace in 1654 and the court never returned. The National Trust for Scotland restored the palace in 1954. Britain’s oldest tennis court was built here in 1539. To the west of the village is the beautiful Falkland Estate. The Estate covers around some 1900 hectares, just under one-fifth of which is wooded, with the rest divided between arable farmland on the low ground and rough grazing on the hills. More than a third is an important “designed” landscape whose major elements date from the 19th century. Falkland Estate is today a place of recreation for its many visitors. It has a network of pleasure walks from the Victorian and Edwardian periods as well as fascinating buildings such as the Memorial Chapel, the Tyndall Bruce Monument and the Temple of Decision. Situated next to the Falkland Estate is The Pillars of Hercules. This is lovely organically farmed land with its own cafe, open daily 9-5 serving delicious meals, cakes and coffee. There is also a farm shop open daily 9-6 with a great selection of fresh organic fruit, eggs and vegetables as well as wholefoods, home baked breads, meat, dairy products and gluten-free food. Recently, Falkland was used as the setting for scenes from the TV series, Outlander. The village also hosts a tennis club, a cricket club, a nine hole golf course, a local amateur football club and a bowling club as well as a small Farmer's Market selling the best and freshest of the local produce.
  • Dave and Rae were wonderful hosts. Very helpful with sharing points of interests for New Years Eve and New Years Day. Nice place to stay.

  • We have just spent two days at Dave and Rae's cosy little studio. It's a compact but well designed space and has everything you need for a great stay. Check-in was very easy and with a comfortable bed, great shower and some lovely breakfast goodies on offer (homemade bread, orange juice and marmalades etc) it was just perfect. There is also a private courtyard with views of the hills and off road parking. We would certainly recommend it.

  • We had a great stay and we’re warmly welcomed by staff at the tavern below. The flat was very cosy despite us tuning our visit to coincide with a storm. The kids loved the space and selection of dvds and games. The kitchen was well-equipped and the beds were comfy. It’s in a beautiful village and brilliant for access to the surrounding hills. I’m already recommending the flat to friends.

    Rachel2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay! The flat was very cosy, clean, comfortable & more spacious than we expected from the photos. The staff were very accommodating & friendly too. It was a lovely, relaxing place to spend a couple of nights away from the city & in a great location directly opposite Falkland Palace.

    Lorraine2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time in Falkland. The apartment had everything we could need and more, with lovely views and easy access to the great pub and restaurant downstairs. We had no problem with the shower which a few previous reviews had mentioned- all the facilities were in great condition. Communication was also very quick and easy. Thank you for a great stay- we would love to be back!

  • Brilliant place, historic and homely.

    Ben2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Without a doubt you can expect a great stay here. Fantastic location with great surroundings. A welcoming atmosphere upon arrival and immediately shown to our apartment which was exceptional, a really homely feel, filled with lots of interesting items/ pictures. You will find everything you possibly need for your stay. Beds are very comfortable, and the apartment was very well heated. Previous reviews regarding the shower seem to have been rectified as we had no problems at all, it was great. Service in the bar and restaurant was also fantastic. We had several meals in the restaurant, each time the food was really good and well presented. We found the menu to have a good choice also. The staff are very friendly too, providing a great service. 10/10 Thank you again for a great stay.

    David2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • A very convenient apartment for visiting Falkland. Loads of space, nice and clean with comfy beds. No noise at all from the pub downstairs. There were lots of extras in the kitchen and a handy honesty box if you run out of wine . Great host who was very accommodating when the shower in the room was an issue .

The Studio at Old Lathrisk is a ground floor apartment of a large historic 16th century Scottish country house near the village of Falkland (where the series #Outlander is filmed!). The Studio has recently been converted from the billiard room into a beautiful, stylish, cosy holiday space with an ensuite shower room, breakfasting cooking facilities and a utility/boot room. Perfect romantic hideaway. We also have a daybed with trundle for extra bed space should you wish to bring friends/family.
The Studio is in an idyllic rural setting with direct access to a beautiful shared garden where wildlife is encouraged. The apartment is on the ground floor with one step down. Easy parking is at the front door. There is plenty storage space for bikes and boots. There is one king size bed, one daybed with trundle and dining seating for a small group.
The location is an ideal base for touring Fife being half an hour from St Andrews and an hour from Edinburgh. Highland Perthshire is 40 minutes by car. The local village of Falkland (where Outlander is filmed!) is less than 2 miles away and attracts many visitors to the Palace, tearooms, gift shops and galleries.
  • A characterful and spacious accommodation in a beautiful setting, walkable to Falkland.

    Kate2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The Studio at Old Lathrisk...in a word: stunning. The gardens and grounds, first of all, are so lovingly and thoughtfully curated. We loved hearing the stories of what pieces came in at different times of this family living here for decades. Walking through was so peaceful and beautiful and they also have several places to sit and enjoy the beauty around you. The sunken garden and the wooden bridge over the creek were my favorites but we also loved the wooden swing! The Studio was clean and bright, with thoughtful touches, books, colored pencils, several charming areas to sit. There is a bright eating area that is gorgeous in the morning light and a window seat with big fluffy pillows for reading and writing. Water pressure in the shower is TOP NOTCH! Best shower yet. The kitchen was perfect with a microwave that can double as an oven and the walls of the hallway were lined with family photographs with printed history that was so fascinating to read! Jo’s grandfather even wrote an extended history of the Lathrisk estate and as a history fanatic, I was enthralled! Best of all, Jo and Mike and Jo’s mother were so warm and welcoming. They were available when we had an issue or question and were always so relaxed and peaceful that we all instantly felt at home and rested. Jo’s mother even made us muffins/biscuits that were waiting to welcome us when we arrived! So many thoughtful touches! We would highly recommend this place to ANYONE wanting to visit Falkland, Dunfermline, Stirling or Edinburgh or any of the other towns nearby as it is a perfect base but also full of history and a light and life of its own! We went to the Falkland Palace but it was closed when we went so we just took pictures of the outside and it was incredible. Later I googled it and kicked myself we didn’t try again another day because it looks even more interesting inside! Definitely worth stopping and seeing! Hopefully we will be back! ❤️

    Melissa2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent host and accommodation, we loved staying at Jo and Mike's property. Steeped in history and with a beautiful countryside location it was ideal for us. Use of an incredible garden also. Highly recommended.

    Toby2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the suite, loved the location, loved the garden, but most importantly, we loved our stay. Thanks Jo & Mike for a great stay and making us feel like we were home. We hope to make it back again.

    Helene2019-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful place to stay. The local area has a lot to offer and the hosts are very welcoming. It is especially wonderful in the summer with the flowers blooming in the garden and around the studio!

    Nicole2019-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • The Studio is a delightful little self contained ground floor apartment of a beautiful old house. It is stylishly furnished with quirky but quality touches. Everything in the Studio is of a very high standard. There is an eclectic mix of retro and modern in the Studio. It was sparkling clean and well stocked with tea and coffee. The linens were sumptuous. The garden which we were free to use is beautiful and has plenty of places to sit. Jo and her family were very welcoming. I would thoroughly recommend this stunning apartment.

    Rachel2019-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place, amazing hosts with nice attentions (delicious cakes from Jo's mother were waiting for us in the Studio). Decoration is lovely, beds very comfortable, great shower and a kitchenette very useful with everything you need. Jo and Mike recommended great places to go to in the area. Highly recommended!!!

Lovely comfortable bed with skylight windows (and blackout blinds) and a view out across the hills. Breakfast was included and was great. All in all, a very cozy, warm and inviting place to stay and hospitality to match. Recommended.

  • Kirsty made us and our 4 legged friend feel at home from the minute we arrived with her tour and instructions. She really did think of everything not only us but our dog would need during our stay, Which is exactly what we struggled to find elsewhere. The pictures don't do the property justice. Lovely, peaceful space with an excellent added bonus of the hot tub. Highly recommend for a quiet night away.

Unit is ground level of a nicely appointed home that is accessed by a security gate with a key code. Free parking on the property. Bathroom is a few steps down the hallway. Bedroom is adequate in size but feels very comfortable. Sparkling clean. Wonderful treat is a generous plate of fresh fruit, cereal bars, homemade muffins and self brewed espresso. Drinking water. This is a cosy, spacious room in a family eco home, with access to a shared bathroom. There's a big comfy bed, a sofa bed, a piano and movie projector in the room. The bathroom has a great powerful shower and bathtub. We have off street parking in this quiet village in the Fife countryside, not far from Cupar and St Andrews. We're an Art amd music household, very welcoming and laidback. The house is full of quirky Art and objects. There's even a sauna in a horsebox in the garden!
Our family house is large and warm, as a super-insulated Eco-housewith a log burning stove should be. We have wooden floors throughout, but your room is carpeted, and peaceful. It's on the ground floor. You'll be sharing with Kirsty, Ben and two kids (13 and 10 years old).
Craigrothie village is small and quiet and set in beautiful countryside. There are lots of lovely walks and runs nearby - you can climb Tarvit hill and visit the National Trust mansion house on foot. Historic detached House with a lovely, secluded, mature garden. 4 bedrooms (1 en-suite). Patio doors onto garden with garden seating. Off street private parking and plenty of free on street parking too. Easy access to Cupar, Perth, Edinburgh, Dundee, St-Andrews, etc.. An excellent base for golfing holiday in the beautiful Kingdom of Fife. Cupar train station is 10 minutes walk away. We have BT unlimited fibre broadband, BT TV and also freeview. No pets please.
I bought this house 12 years ago and renovated it fully at that time. It's an old lodge house and I designed and added a large extension which houses the living and dining rooms with patio doors out to the lawn and private garden. It's a 4 bedroom house and offers a great big space for social time together through the day/evening. Host a dinner party. The space is perfect for it and the kitchen is a dream to work in!
The Cupar house is situated in a residential area of cupar, on the road which leads out towards Newburgh. If you walk in one direction you'll be in the centre of town in 5 minutes, with shops, pubs, and supermarkets. If you walk the other you can be out of town, on little farm roads amongst fields in 5 minutes. Cupar public swimming pool and leisure centre is only 5 minutes walk away. There are tennis courts and playing fields, literally around the corner. And a park for the children across the road and around the corner. Cupar is the perfect base to explore Fife from.
  • Great house and the location was perfect for what we needed. We used the menu left for the local Chinese Restaurant which was lovely. The house was clean and tidy with an array of toys and games for our little one to play with also a high chair made available saving us having to bring our own. Plenty of space to relax and would highly recommend. Thank you :)

The Howff is close to St Andrews,Perth and Dundee. You’ll love staying because of the cosiness, the location, and the people. The Howff is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and furry friends (pets). Please make sure any pets are well behaved as our chickens are expert at escaping. Weather permitting, the Pizza Oven will be fired up, ready to make your own Pizza.
Centrally located, you can be in the highlands or in Edinburgh within an hour.
Situated on the edge of the Howe of Fife, Auchtermuchty is approximately 30 miles north of the Forth Road Bridge and within easy reach of Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee, Perth and St. Andrews. Aberdeen is only an hour and a half away by car and Inverness takes just over two hours. If you are in business Auchtermuchty makes a superb central location for serving most of Scotland. If you are on holiday, there is no better base for touring, whether you are visiting the fishing villages of the East Neuk of Fife, the golf courses of St. Andrews, the Angus glens, the ski slopes of Cairngorm and Glenshee, or Scotland's historic cities. Falkand, the ancient capital of Scotland is only a stonesthrow away. You can explore its ancient Palace, streets and wynds. There are also plenty restaurants and bars in the area.
  • Easy to find and check into, Rob is really quick at replying and very helpful. Handy mod cons like USB sockets in case you’ve forgotten a charger plug like we had and one cup kettle for an immediate cuppa after a long drive are much appreciated. Lovely big tv with Netflix, a very nice touch too. The Howff still maintains an olde worlde charm with window seats, a substantial continental breakfast, babbling brook alongside, peaceful and cosy feel. Thanks again Rob 👍

An exceptional barn conversion in the heart of the beautiful Lindores estate in Fife. Incredibly spacious, superbly comfortable and stylishly contemporary with masses of natural light, this is a wonderful haven for walkers, golfers, wedding guests and weekenders wanting somewhere a bit different to stay. Along with top quality fittings throughout and a biomass heating system, there's a huge television, an 8-speaker bluetooth sound system and a deliciously bouncy carpet to pad about on.
It's hard to describe in words just how luxurious it is to stay here, with the extent of the space, the quality of the build and the calm, stylish interior design all contributing to an exceptional level of feelgood. The front door takes you into a large tiled hall with a woodburning stove and an old school radiator beneath sturdy coat hooks which provides a good drying area. There is plenty of room to leave boots, golf clubs and countryside clothing, and there are slippers to change into before you head upstairs to the main living area. The hall is quite a feature in its own right for its contemporary design style, with added interest from artworks that have been installed by the owner, Clare Wade. Clare is a professional Lighting Consultant at Cat Lighting and she will be pleased to show you the lighting effects around the property which doubles as her lighting showroom. Upstairs there is a large, airy open plan sitting and dining area with comfortable seating and smart black units. A main feature is the fabulous arched window to the west which sunshine streams through in the summer evenings, ideal for enjoying a relaxing drink at the end of the day . There is a micro-kitchen contained in a small alcove which has a kettle, toaster, coffee machine and fridge and is stocked with all you need for breakfast which you can prepare and eat at your leisure. The bedroom is very spacious and has a superking bed which can convert to two singles. There is plenty of storage and floor space and very attractive stone alcoves that are softly lit at night. The bathroom is modern with a rain shower, stylish black fittings and underfloor heating. Good quality linen and towels are provided along with toiletries.
Woodmill is the base of the Wade family Game business where we prepare a range of delicious wild game products for sale through Farmers Markets and other rural and online outlets. The working yard is visible from the Arches and if you wish, during your stay you could take the opportunity to see pheasant and venison sausages being made, or learn to pluck a pheasant, or take part in a deer butchery class run by the owner Steven Wade.
