Enjoy the babbling of the river and the wonderful scenery that changes with the seasons while enjoying a barbecue or tea time. There are two large bathtubs and showers where you can relax in the bath. Families and groups can all bathe together. Also within walking distance is Hachioji-sanso, Makino Shiraya Onsen. It is a hot spring facility where you can enjoy one of the best 100% natural radon hot springs in Kansai. Please feel free to use it. You can enjoy a barbecue on the outdoor wooden deck. You don't need to bring any tools. Please bring only ingredients, condiments, and drinks. * In case of strong winds, we may ask you to refrain from using the barbecue area for safety reasons. ⚠︎ Because the mountains are close and the location is rich in nature, insects may appear indoors depending on the season, even if we take countermeasures. You can enjoy cherry blossoms in Kaizu Osaki in spring, swimming in Lake Biwa in summer, fruit picking in early summer to autumn, and Makino Highlands, Ohana Resort, and Mt. Hakodate in winter, all year round.

It is about 1 hour by car from downtown Kyoto, and if you come by train, it is about 20 minutes by bus from Azumikawa Station on the JR Kosei Line, and 10 minutes by taxi. It is popular with overseas customers, families, and groups. BBQ set (equipment) is available for a fee, so please feel free to contact us. Free parking on premises. Parking is available for up to 3 vehicles if it is a regular car. In case of large cars, please contact us in advance as it may be difficult for 3 cars. If you consult us in advance, we can also rent it for a fee. We also rent bicycles for free. There is an animal fence in the area around the ⚠️villa, so there is no bear damage. Monkeys, don't come close, but please don't leave food or trash outside.

Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

YAMANOTE HOUSE is accessible from major Kansai stations with 37min from Kyoto Sta. or 65min from Osaka Sta. If you come by car from Kyoto it takes less than 1 hour. The area aournd the house is once small castle town. The house is located next to the Shrine, Hiyoshi-Jinja, where the Omizo Festival is held on May 3 and 4 every year.
