Cottage holiday rentals in New River Valley

We had a fun time at Chris’ lake house. It was very clean, quiet, and had all the amenities as described. Hot tub (with its private surround) was enjoyable during the winter temps. Ample kitchen supplies since there aren’t any restaurants around. Make sure to get groceries beforehand!

We absolutely loved Jennifer's property! We were looking for a place to get a away for a few days and enjoy some family time away from the hustle and bustle and boy was this perfect! So many games and activities to keep the whole family busy. Favorite part was just enjoying the outside and watching the wildlife. We saw gophers, deer, a rabbit and so much more! Would absolutely love coming back in the future! Also, the house was very clean and had everything we needed. Jennifer was very responsive and great to work with regarding everything on the property experience.

This is a darling little place in a quiet town. Mary went out of her way to make it super welcoming with local recommendations, snacks and just little homey touches everywhere. Also she had supplied everything I seemed to have forgotten on the trip. I especially loved how the kitchen had just the right basics to help us stay in and be able to cook simple things. Everything was so clean and comfortable. What a great host and a cute home.

We love the place even if we stayed for a short time. It feels like home and the surrounding is very peaceful most especially watching the horses and chickens.

Lovely stay. Clean as a whistle. Very well appointed. There's a babbling brook next to it that you can enjoy from the back deck. Three forms of coffee available - most impressive. Everything was well labeled with instructions. It's a pet-friendly place, a nice surprise. It's just off a road, so be aware if you're sound sensitive. Communication was excellent from well before all the way through the visit. Beds were super comfy, with lots of lounging areas for friends or family. Clearly hosts that take their visitors comfort very seriously. A lot of thought and consideration put in to this truly lovely place.

We loved this place! Secluded, quiet, and lots of incredible animals. Tricia was very helpful, informative, and responsive.

My husband and I spent the weekend in Bassett to attend an event at Fairy Stone State Park. Tamara and Luis’s cottage was the perfect respite. The property is absolutely beautiful and all of the summer flowers were in bloom. Our beagle, Molly, loved meeting, Buddy, Tamara and Luis’s lab doodle. I highly recommend this location for anyone who wants a quiet, beautiful, soulful time away from the busyness of life.

The cottage is a great place for anyone visiting the Athens area! Whether it’s for a wedding at the Barn at Unity Farm or stopping by for a sporting event at Concord University, the cottage is the personification of peace in the beautiful mountains of West Virginia! Anita had the place ready to go for us and we couldn’t have been more comfortable during our stay. I would give more than 5 stars if allowed.

It’s was a beautiful getaway nestled in the woods.. great property and landscape. Our family really enjoyed the space.. everything was clean, stores close by, comfy beds!

We were very happy with our choice to stay at Kristy’s place. We had everything we needed and I appreciated the decor. The setting is wonderful and secluded. As I am currently listening to a leaf blower, I can say that peace and quiet is certainly good for the soul. Listening to the birds chirping and the wind blowing the leaves in the trees, so relaxing. The biggest issue we had was we left our dog’s favorite toy behind😳I contacted Kristi and she sent it to us. Muley says”thank you!” All and all, a wonderful stay!!

Great little mountain town location. We stayed for work, but would definitely stay here on a personal trip.

This is a perfect beautiful little cottage. The gardens and play place were amazing little spots to spend time with our family. We were in town for a family reunion so the location for us was absolutely perfect. Amelia’s place is clean and cozy and it was a great choice for our needs. We’re going to book for our trips back to Elk Creek going forward! Thank you :)

Great stay at the Wallace cottage. Very unique and fun decor, place was clean and comfortable. Large lot with patio, grill and fire pit in the back yard. Bathroom for each bedroom, upstairs bedroom has steep and narrow stairs that might be an issue for some, not in our case. Central heat/ac.

Very quite and peaceful setting. The soft roar of the river makes for an amazingly relaxing time of porch sitting with my family. Submerged in nature with deer squirrels and birds all around. We will be back.

Thanks again for the stay! It was peaceful and quiet. Close to the road but we still saw lots of deer! It was clean and we slept great! I didn’t pay attention to the fact that there was no WiFi and the tv didn’t really work and there was hardly any service but it turned out to be a really sweet thing. We talked with our kids and swung on the porch swing together as the sun set. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes etc. so bring your own coffee/tea etc. unless you run into Galax for a bit of something. Loved the aspect of the ice cream caboose in Fries right by the water and the dam and playground for the kids. And got breakfast and coffee from The Briar Patch Marketplace. Thanks again Richard for the lovely stay!

Me and friends had a wonderful time staying at this place for Roanoke College Alumni weekend. Very close to campus and very clean with plenty of space to go around for everyone. If it is still available next year I would definitely stay again!

We were here for a graduation at Ferrum College. This place was very well maintained and super cute. Had a tasteful vintage/cozy/throw-back vibe. The large washer/dryer was super helpful after a week on the road. The place was stocked to the nine's but we didn't use anything since we were sure if it was for the family or guests. Internet connection was solid - especially considering we were in the mountains. I also work remotely a lot. Highly recommended and we would totally stay again. Darlene checked in to make sure we had what we needed and also messaged to say bye.

Kimberly was amazing. She was great at responding. She was so nice. It was also so amazing seeing the yak, goats, and chickens. I would definitely stay there again. Once a lifetime opportunity (at least in my opinion) to see the yak. The one yak even came to the fence to let you pet him.

My first thought when arriving and walking through, at this beautiful location was “charming”. So much thought, preparation and design went into to making this cottage perfect! Although we had a night arrival, the street is not lit ( not a fault of the hostess ) so I did make a wrong turn into the next driveway, however, it didn’t take long to correct myself and take the driveway up to this adorable residence. The cottage was set up so sweetly, even with a few goodies to make us feel at home, and actually make our next morning easier on us! The location is tranquil, the cottage is cozy and inviting. And even though the roads are not lit, my daughter was able to get her nightly 2 mile run, each night without any issues. Barbara, our hostess was most amazing and accommodating! She responded quickly when I asked to modify my dates due to some schedule changes and definitely checked in on us as we arrived. I would highly recommend this beautiful cottage and the serene surroundings!
