If you like Quiet, clean, comfortable, walks, good village pub, every where an easy drive from Scotton….You will love this cottage. We had a lovely relaxing time here our Whippet loved it also. Holly & Alastair are excellent hosts, we would definitely recommend staying here.

We absolutely loved our stay. The cottage was beautifully decorated and well equipped, making us feel right at home. The area and scenery were beautiful, making for the perfect relaxing stay.

Had a lovely weekend at this cottage for my partner’s birthday. Hot tub was gorgeous, even better in the rain. House was beautiful and having the chickens running around outside was fabulous. Marisa was the perfect host. Answered questions quickly and was very accommodating. Would definitely recommend a stay in this lovely cottage.

3 Railway Cottage is a fantastic base to explore the amazing beauty of North Yorkshire. The cottage is located a 20 minute walk from the centre of Pickering but is in a really quiet and private location. The only exception of course is the opportunity to wave at the heritage railway trains that pass at the back of the cottage a few times a day which is really amazing, especially if you wave from the comfort of the hot tub! I can’t recommend this location highly enough, it is a really comfortable and well equipped cottage in a fantastic location - what more could you ask for?

Had a lovely stay here for a few days away for my partner’s birthday. Steve met us on arrival to give us a tour and explain how things worked which was lovely. The Lamp Post itself was lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub - even despite the rain! Facilities were lovely and they had everything in the kitchen that we needed for basics/essentials too. Would definitely visit again and thanks for a lovely time 😊

what an absolutely amazing place to visit, with one of the moat picturesque views of the Yorkshire Dale anyone could wish from right in the backgarden. the cottage is spotless and has everything you could want for a break away.

Really enjoyable stay. Everything was perfect, and I would return if I were back in the area. The location was peaceful, private, and surrounded by beautiful nature — exactly what I was hoping for. The space was spotless, cozy, and thoughtfully designed, with all the amenities I needed for a comfortable and relaxing getaway.

Lovely relaxing cottage with everything we needed. Very cosy and relaxing setting with great views from back windows. Enclosed garden for dog or children. Hot tub was a great perk which was well used by us. Rillington village within 10 min walk which had a small shop and a nice pub ( the fleece). Tips for other travellers The fleece in rillington has a nice garden of weather nice and the food was nice too and dog friendly Ham and cheese which is a 5 minute drive the food was very good and dog friendly too although probably too far to walk Lots of walks nearby, we went to dalby Forrest, mallyham spout in goathland and Levisham near Pickering New Connie’s Chinese in malton was also very good

Excellent stay in Pickering, the house is exactly as described and more! Very well equipped and a real home from home. It is on one of the main roads but as others have said the thoughtful ear plugs made all the difference and we had no problem finding parking every day. This is a fantastic base for exploring the local area. Highly recommended

Pumpkin Cottage was absolutely wonderful for myself, my wife, our one-year-old, and our dog. Every detail had been carefully thought out—from everything our dog could need, including personalied treats, to the fully stocked baby essentials - which went above and beyond what we expected. The local recommendations were spot on. We visited Harewood House, had a lovely meal at the Caballero Lounge, enjoyed the local pub, and explored other nearby gems. Lesley was a fantastic host—warm, responsive, and very easy to communicate with. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Pumpkin Cottage to anyone. It’s a fantastic place to stay and truly felt like a home from home.

We absolutely loved our stay at Debbie and Stephen's beautiful cottage. It's set right in the middle of the Yorkshire countryside with easy access to the A19 and views of the Kilburn White Horse from the bed! They also have a woodland on their property which our dog frolicked in like a land dolphin and completely adored. The cottage was so warm and cosy, exactly what you need to reset the batteries. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we'll be back!

We had an outstanding stay. The open-plan kitchen and living area at the back is a beautiful space to relax in—especially with the bi-fold doors opening onto the garden, giving that perfect indoor-outdoor feel. The garden itself is so well designed, with plenty of thoughtful seating and even a fire pit we made good use of. The house was spotless and felt brand new, but also really well stocked—not just with the essentials, but with all the little extras too (like oil, salt, plenty of towels, and kitchenware). Denise was friendly, thoughtful, and super responsive throughout. Highly recommended.

We had the most wonderful weekend stay at this charming cottage! From the moment we arrived, it felt like a peaceful escape from everyday life. The cottage was spotless, beautifully decorated, and had all the cozy touches you could hope for. The kitchen was well-equipped for cooking and the beds were incredibly comfortable. It was quiet and private, with gorgeous views of the surrounding countryside and castle. Communication was smooth and easy throughout. Would highly recommend.

The house is peaceful and beautiful but a tad expensive. Great position on Sinnington’s walking trail. However, unless one manages the upstairs roof skylight blinds the bedroom got quite hot and even when you did it was still very warm. Probably needs a way to let fresh air in. Also we thought the host could have made personal contact with us - we tried several times to no avail however, the hosts email comms were always quick and freely gave great advice. We were proactively well supplied with helpful walking information which we were very grateful. This sounds a bit negative but overall we enjoyed staying there. Suggest a whats app number would be good for overseas travellers who usually only have that means available to make immediate contact possible.

Beautiful cottages, well appointed, well maintained & spotlessly clean. Comfortable beds & peaceful location. We couldn’t have expected any better & we had a lovely relaxing stay. Great location for any events at The Oakwood, Ryther. Joanne & David are super helpful, friendly and responsive.

We’ve had a fantastic few days at The Piglets, the barn conversation is top notch and everything is to the highest standard. Nip is a super host greeted us on arrival and is so friendly and helpful. The location is perfect short distance in to York yet super peaceful. Fantastic for cycling. We will definitely be back. Thank you

Wow! What a fantastic place to stay. The cottage was a perfect haven for a relaxing holiday. The scenery was breathtaking, and we spent much of the time gazing out of the window at the dramatic weather and wildlife. We wished we could have stayed longer! Emma's place was simply gorgeous! We loved our stay and couldn't stop marvelling at the beautiful location. The cottage was pristine and comfortable and even bigger and more beautiful than the photos. The surroundings and the views from every window were amazing. Emma was a lovely host, helpful and flexible. We only wish we could have stayed longer!

We had a lovely time, explored the local village, as well as short car drives to Helmsley and Thirsk. The cottage was spotless, with comfortable beds, quality bedding and extremely well equipped kitchen. A peaceful garden with fabulous views. We had a lovely stay at the Old Forge - a charming cottage in peaceful and beautiful surroundings, and not far from lots of things to do! We enjoyed the North Yorkshire Moors Railway which we took from nearby Pickering, before a countryside walk in Goathland. We also explored Malton which is not far away, and hugely enjoyed Restaurant Mýse about 20 minutes away. Olwen's place had everything we needed for our long weekend stay. It was comfortable and homely, and Olwen made us feel extremely welcome. It was comforting to know she wasn't far away and had great recommendations too. We would highly recommend!

This is a really lovely cottage in a quiet setting in the countryside. I was travelling for a cycling event, and it made all the difference staying somewhere comfortable that felt like a home rather than a hotel! The resident ducks were also good entertainment!

I think Rose Cottage might be the best holiday rental I've ever stayed in. Basically we felt instantly at home. The house is beautifully decorated and exceptionally well-equipped. (Need a softer pillow? No problem as there's a selection to choose from. Forgot your toothbrush? There are spares provided. In fact your every need seems to have been anticipated.) The views out from the main rooms and from the terraces are great, and we enjoyed our suppers on the lower terrace in warm June weather. And Fran is lovely - really helpful and she has loads of good tips for things to do, good places to eat, etc. It's a lovely area too, lots of good walking and stunning long views from up on the tops. Highly recommended.
